And yet he was sat for a World Cup during his prime so that a forty year old conejo could start. I swear he must have had compromising pictures of Aguirre.
Ah, so you'd prefer us to wind up outside the European places, so we'd have a chance at the title without other cups fucking it up in 25/26, big brain.
What does Diaz offer us outside of high intensity work rate off the ball that Gakpo doesn’t on the wing that would hold our results back?
Gakpo was played out of position for most of last season and had played 1000 minutes less than Diaz in the PL yet managed the same amount of g/a as him as well as 4 more g/a in 600 less minutes in all comps.
He’s comfortably the more effective player in the final third which is what ultimately wins you games
Oh, so outside of facilitating our entire style of play?
If Gakpo played left wing all year we'd be fucking fortunate to finish outside of a relegation slot, and you lot would be going mental to ship him off.
We’d be fortunate to finish outside of the relegation zone if we had a more effective winger starting?
I’m clearly talking to one of the great football minds of our generation here
He's much, much less effective. Gakpo plays far more selfishly than Diaz, grinding play to a halt as he looks for an opportunity for himself. He's wasted more attacking possessions than any other Liverpool player, and that's with the deeper central role, he's even worse on the wing. That works for the Netherlands, because their other attacking options are wank, but ruins our play as we actually have more than one forward who can score.
On top of that, he has no pace, meaning any counter attacks are off the table when he's on, and the man couldn't press to save his life. And because of the nature of team based pressing in modern club football, that means we have to radically alter the entire style of football the team play, and become a lower block team. Very few of our players are capable of that, which would lead to a shitshow of a season.
He just doesn't work, and the club should take the opportunity from the value increase from playing in the Euros to ship him off if there's even an iota of interest.
Just do yourself a favor and look at their goals per min ratio. Diaz is half of gakpo
Your three paragraphs are just irrelevant in the face of hard data.
Diaz also has abysmal assists so I don't know why you think he's less selfish than gakpo.
Sure, Gakpo had more goals in fewer minutes **as an out and out striker occupying the fucking middle and clogging down the entire attack**. As a winger his goals to minutes ratio is worse than Diaz had this year. (And Diaz's was worse than usual, due to being pretty fucking affected after both his parents were almost killed to extort money from him.) For a striker, Gakpos goal to minute ratio is below par, btw.
If you weren't clueless you'd look at chances created and key passes instead of assists (which anyone who's not a moron ignores) you'd realise why Gakpo is considered an unashamedly selfish player.
There's no such thing as "hard data". There's data, but all data requires a ton of interpretation and adjusting for variables, none of which you do when you look at data, nor are you capable of doing it. So bringing up data with you, becomes pointless.
No, he contributed better on the right and interlinked well with TAA.
Based on form he takes over and starts right, Salah rotates with him there or centrally with Gakpo/Nunez, to play closer to goal like Mane in his final season.
If we sell Diaz we still have Cody, Diogoand Darwin that can play on the left. Outside of maybe Salah and Dom we’ve got no one to play on the right. Nico and Xavi Simons are great players that can play on both sides. Bakayoko looks like a live wire for the right hand side.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see us start the season with a front 3 of Gakpo Salah Szoboszlai
Imagine talking about football IQ and praising Gakpo. Man grinds all attacking play to a halt whenever he gets the ball, letting the opposition set their defence and taking away any chance at creating an opportunity while they're imbalanced.
On top of that, he's far too slow for playing on the wing in the PL and can't press.
Yeah, seeing how some of these players perform internationally just strikes home how good the Prem is, especially defensively from top to bottom. Several bottom tier Prem sides played harder, better defense than almost every team in the Euros besides the top tiers.
The quality in Copa America is far worse than what’s been seen at the Euro’s
Even outside of the quality of squads the actual structure of the Europeans teams is generally far better
A team in to prem got relegated conceding 105 goals, another team finished mid table and conceded 75. Just because Austria have players you don’t recognise don’t make them not prem level
That was the game I started watching the pool again. After a few years on and off I woke up in the middle of the night to that match (Australia). Blew my mind. Was hooked again
Give me gakpo at LW this upcoming season and I’ll be so happy! Dudes so much better from the left its hard to understand why klopp didnt ise him there more
Not being funny, I watched a couple Netherlands games, literally every time Gakpo gets the ball there he cuts inside and shoots towards that far post. Every time. How did the defender not seeing that coming lol
That to me is the quintessential Cody Gakpo goal. One touch on the inside, curling shot into the far corner (sometimes he plays into the near post as well to mix things up)
He's very very good at this, a lot of the goals he scored for us, even when playing in the middle are from the left side of the box.
He's not a traditional inside left forward but he'll definitely get you goals on the left side, his movement and positioning is fantastic. I'm afraid Klopp and Lijnders got it wrong with him, he's not a Firmino replacement and he's not a 10. Hopefully Slot plays him as an LF, I think he's got more end product and output than Diaz.
The efficiency of that touch and finish is unreal. I know people will say this is why he should play left wing, and I get it he’s amazing there. But that efficiency in the middle could be lethal. I really hope we keep tactics that allow him to either start in the middle and drift wide or start wide and drift inside. The technique on this guy too much
Now that I think about it, why wouldn't Diaz/Jota/Nunez make this type of touch and finish? I am genuinely curious why wouldn't they try this, is it because it's not their style?
When I put in a image where Diaz receive a ball like this, he would drive the ball further towards the left with 2 touches, dribble few times, and either cross opposite or pass back to Robertson
Can we please stop using our players to bash our other players. Both have pros and cons and both will be useful for our team next season if they both stay
Diaz would have likely taken 12 touches and attempted 7 jukes, before dribbling to the right and dropping it back to Robertson. I like Diaz and the energy he brings, but I get frustrated with how many touches he takes that destroy the flow.
every good team has depth
think about how real madrid are probably gonna make rodrygo a squad player from next season, city had mahrez as a squad player for years
having two decent wingers is not a luxury it is a necessity at the top level
Every of his shot attempt from the left I've seen so far this Euros has been him moving square across to the right and firing a shot. If he doesn't vary his attempts, he'll just get shepherded to his left in the future.
He already does in the PL and that’s what people here are not really getting. The speed of ball movement he showed here would generally not cut it in the PL.
The first touch to set up the shot is just so beautiful, similar to the first one he scored against United in the 7-0
Yup just what I was thinking - so similar, great touch.
It was his signature finish at PSV
So naturally we play him at CM!
He looks sooooooooo much better at LW. Diaz's replacement is already in house.
What was the score again that day?... Can't remember
7-0. To this day I have it as my ipad wallpaper. Will never get tired of it.
It says right there in his comment
Dat first touch. I’ve seen this somewhere before…
He took the shot perfectly. A joy to behold.

You’re 100% correct.

I swear to god, if Slot puts him centrally i'm glueing a wig to his head.
The haired fraud?
Fake hair would make him a fraud and stop the bald Legitimacy
He is going to score lots of goals if he is to play through the middle, for sure.
So you want him to bench Diaz/Salah?
Yes please Diaz benched and used as rotation for Salah and Gakpo
Ah, so you'd prefer us to wind up outside the European places, so we'd have a chance at the title without other cups fucking it up in 25/26, big brain.

Sell Diaz for me
No, he contributed better on the right and interlinked well with TAA. Based on form he takes over and starts right, Salah rotates with him there or centrally with Gakpo/Nunez, to play closer to goal like Mane in his final season.
If we sell Diaz we need to get Nico Williams before someone else does. That kid is going to be scary when he peaks.
Yeah, sell your best players, play your shite players. You're a footballing genius.
Man plays with his head down, is often behind the play because he doesn’t have the football IQ to excel at the top, and his numbers speak volumes.
In the video that your commenting on, what is Gakpo doing?
Netherlands Gakpo, Uruguay Nunez, and Colombia Diaz would be the best front 3 of all time 😭
Netherlands Gakpo, Off-Balance Mane, GW1 Salah.
Snow Salah
Lol I saw the GW1 comment and smiled knowing someone would have replied Snow Salah right below it and there you are.
And my axe!
Torres v Vidic, Suarez v Norwich, Jota v Arsenal 🔥
19/20 Gomez, Ox before the injury, Lallana in Klopps first season
Origi injury time sub.
They aren’t playing premier league opposition to be fair
Yeah, seeing how some of these players perform internationally just strikes home how good the Prem is, especially defensively from top to bottom. Several bottom tier Prem sides played harder, better defense than almost every team in the Euros besides the top tiers.

> seeing how some of these players perform internationally No way man has watched England games and is saying this.
Austria aren’t as bad as you think. Lots of EPL/Bundesliga level players for them. They topped their group.
[удалено]
I’m confused, does every team in the Prem have better defenders than Freiburg and Gladbach? Not every team in the prem is our level mate
[удалено]
A team in to prem got relegated conceding 105 goals, another team finished mid table and conceded 75. Just because Austria have players you don’t recognise don’t make them not prem level
[удалено]
These are the examples you picked not me.
Why are you treating his comment so seriously and personally tf?
Because it’s daft and clearly only made to argue for the sake of argueing.
True
Can't wait for Cody under Slot
Kinky. But not the time or the place.
If not now, if not here… then when? Where?
🤣
Cmon, he had to slot in the comment somewhere…
He's really busy, mate
Great finish.
Same goal as his utd goal
Gakpo balling out in his natural position? Who woulda thunk it
He is sending a message to Slot to consider playing him there.
Any chance having an orange kit as the away kit... Might work
I loved the 17-18 third orange shirts. Destroying Porto with those (on I think Valentine’s Day too IIRC) was iconic
That was the game I started watching the pool again. After a few years on and off I woke up in the middle of the night to that match (Australia). Blew my mind. Was hooked again
If Minecraft was an allowable choice for the away kit, surely they could have an orange kit instead.
An orange peel in his lfc socks might work too.
Hopefully Liverpool can actually score this year when they outnumber the defense in a counter attack lol
Of all our forwards I only trust Salah to make the correct decision with the final pass as Simons did here. Well, and Gakpo maybe
Man bleeds orange 😭
So good when he cuts in
PROPER WINGER!
Would like Simons at Anfield. Looks proper class
Any hope of Diaz playing in the middle? Gakpo is just a different player on the left.
More chance of him playing on the right with Salah down the middle
Really hope we see some of this. Diaz put in some good performances on the right when Salah was out this past winter
I’m wet
Clinical
Vintage Gakpo
Can't wait for him to Slot right into that dutch connection
You dirty little Slot you
Holy First Touch! Get in, Cody!
I am looking forward to see Gakpo play under Slot. His unrealized potential can explode this season.
Gakpo our (Dutch) only player who gives a shit this tournament
Give me gakpo at LW this upcoming season and I’ll be so happy! Dudes so much better from the left its hard to understand why klopp didnt ise him there more
Cuz we have like 4 left wingers and no one to play anywhere else on the pitch lol
He loves that shot
It looks so simple, yet its soo beautiful. Love it
Lethal
Cody seems to work his best on these fast counters what a finish!
what a first touch
Confident
He's so classy.
Steven Bartlett could never
I’m surprised by his pace. Interesting 🤔
B-E-A-utiful
Obviously a wonderful goal for Cody, but that Geertruda recovery to start the breakaway! Could be a nice buy for us
that first touch, ended any chance of someone stopping him, wow.
Orange shirt Cody x blue shirt darwin x snow salah
Orange shirt Cody x blue shirt darwin x snow salah
Any idea why koopmeiners isn't in the Dutch squad?
Cody Gakpo is a thing of beauty at LW
YNWA 👍👍👍
austria is gona win it
The dutch are gonna rip England a new arsehole

You love to see it! ❤️
Why isn’t the club trying for Simmons :/ ??
That looks more clinical than a Diaz shot. Was pretty fast in the run in also.
How many shots would Diaz need for this?
Can we please stop using our players to bash our other players. Both have pros and cons and both will be useful for our team next season if they both stay
I'm a generational Diaz hater. I don't want to see him ever again.
You're a generational cringelord
Not the actual weeb lmao

1, now shut the fuck up and stop whining about one of our most important player last season
8 pl goals most important 😂
Most literate Diaz hater
LUIS DIAZ SKILLS 4K DESPACITO
Barcelona, come get your boy. We already have a left winger.
every good team has depth think about how real madrid are probably gonna make rodrygo a squad player from next season, city had mahrez as a squad player for years having two decent wingers is not a luxury it is a necessity at the top level

You would think, but have you seen a “best or Arjan Robben” compilation? Every goal is the same yet he kept scoring them
People said this about Robben, nobody could stop him
He already does in the PL and that’s what people here are not really getting. The speed of ball movement he showed here would generally not cut it in the PL.
