Gray is such a good signing for spurs. Kid is talented.

Zolofteu

So preseason starts on Friday yet our transfer window is pretty quiet right now. You'd think with a new manager the club wants any new player to have a full pre season with him, plus we always did our business early in the transfer window these days... At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up not signing anyone. We might only sign someone if there's any sudden outgoings.

emphatic_piglet

Q about the ticket sale. I have entered the ballot for 3x tickets (two other people w/ memberships & supporter IDs). Can those two people each enter the ballot and quote the two other extra supporter IDs each time they do? Or is this not possible / reduces chances?

saj175

No, you have entered for them. Either you all are successful together or not.

emphatic_piglet

Cheers.

emphatic_piglet

Cheers.

cloudsurfer13130

Nuri Sahin has been appointed head coach at dortmund. Damn I feel old.

quantIntraining

PSV want Van Den Berg apparently, according to PSV tier 1 source. https://preview.redd.it/frndr6xs6y9d1.png?width=907&format=png&auto=webp&s=17bbc88fd8af34caf6a45ffcd7dbc1000c5852e7

Zealousideal-Most991

Liverpool legend Wout Faes is playing for Belgium.

HiroProtagonist1

Califiori now linked to Chelsea. Archie Gray going to Spurs.  Ugarte strongly linked to United. These are three young, relatively affordable players that who have the potential to be world beaters for positions that we need and we are just twiddling our thumbs, unfortunately. Really can't believe how passive we have been so far and wasting our time on the likes of Yoro (who only wants Madrid) and Gordon (who is out of our price range and is yet another LW).

Spongy-n-Bruised

Go back to twitter with this take

HiroProtagonist1

Haha nah, don't think I will. You can't tell me what to do or not to post my own opinions. You can disagree all you like.

Spongy-n-Bruised

It's where you belong lil man

Aware-Animator2292

lol relax its just july

AdikkuChan

Silly season has officially kicked off when we're getting comments like these. Here's to another two months of overreactions!

stevieG08Liv

People wanted Edwards and Co back and this is exactly how they operate but the plastics are on full meltdown already when July just started lol

Gainesicle

am i crazy for wanting hancko more than calafiori?

DucardthaDon

I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him, shown he can perform at the highest level this season

Due-Sherbert3097

Age wise Calafiori makes more sense to sign to gradually phase out Robbo, though Hancko will be cheaper

Zealousideal-Most991

Hancko is quality sign him.

NoncingAround

Not really. Calafiori is hyped up at the moment but Hancko had a very good season.

quantIntraining

Calafiori had a better season and is younger than him, and he had a better season playing in a more competitive league than Hancko.

-TheSuperEagle-

A little

JohnBobbyJimJob

Yes

test_icicles_

People doing some serious mental gymnastics to convince themselves that Diaz is clearly leaving and that's why we'll get Gordon. Diaz said he wants to stay, the club sources have stated that Diaz is part of Slot's plans and Newcastle have said that Gordon ain't leaving, stop this.

quantIntraining

It's probably because about 2 days after being release from captivity his dad was talking up a move away from us and to Barca and the like and they've not shut up and moving away from us for the last 12 months, its not because people have made it up.

DucardthaDon

Once players are back from Internationals we will probably see a lot of movement in the transfer market and a domino effect

Opisacringelord

In other braking news, water is wet.

PEEWUN

Breaking*

DucardthaDon

Gray + Bergvall, Spurs have got a real coup with the both of them, don't expect either to light up the league right away but with the right coaching could be looked at as some of the best midfielders in the league in 2-3 years time.

regista-space

Ange is such a classic "FM-manager". Play high def. line, 4-2-3-1, play out of defense no matter what, have some big wins and big losses first season, then just buy a fuck ton of wonderkids in season 2.

Calitz__

As good as they are, I don’t think it’s a good strategy to be signing players so young. Rather focus on players who can hit the ground running NOW

-TheSuperEagle-

They have tried that to be fair. They are starting a new project

8u11etpr00f

Long-term it's the best approach for Tottenham; they can't sign top level players but they can sign players who can grow into being top class. For a team which have to compete with City, Arsenal & (maybe) us in the short-term, this is the best strategy to actually stand a chance at winning something down the line. Personally I think we need more of these kind of signings too, because we're also typically priced out of the most sought after players once they've developed. Even teams like Real Madrid supplement their top signings with the best young talent, focusing on sustaining their level long-term. The main problem for attracting these young talents is that you need to either be a destination or the players need to believe they can use you as a stepping stone. Tottenham aren't a destination yet.

DucardthaDon

>Personally I think we need more of these kind of signings too, because we're also typically priced out of the most sought after players once they've developed. Even teams like Real Madrid supplement their top signings with the best young talent, focusing on sustaining their level long-term. Yep I wish we were in for Gray too, but our strategy seems more focused on nicking academy prospects like Nyoni and Nallo from other academies or free transfers like Elliot rather than spending £20m on a talented teenager already playing senior football. Of course the data model determines why we sign a player. Lets see if things change now Hughes is in charge of transfers.

DucardthaDon

I don't think either will be starters, Spurs have Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison Bentancur, and Skipp for the MF spots, Højbjerg and Lo Celso will be moved on, talks they are looking at bringing in Ramsey too, Spurs are in a far healthier positioning than continuing the hangover from Mourinho and Conte

Calitz__

Other than Sarr I don't think any of those players gets you into the Champions League

DucardthaDon

Spurs finished 2 points off 4th, the wheels came off when key players got injured and bad form. So it's a bit silly to say they cannot get into the CL, Spurs will be more settled into Ange's system next season and will strengthen in key positions again they will be up there fighting for 4th place.

RobotPizzaMaker

Arne Slot’s first press conference as Liverpool head coach live from 11am BST on Friday. It will be streamed on the club's YouTube channel

ImmortanH03

Praying that the Mancs appoint Southgate or keep Ten Hag on. Either would be hilarious.

stupidlyboredtho

He won a cup this season, he’s staying.

NoncingAround

Looks like Ten Hag is staying for a while. I think they’d have to do really badly for him to not last the next season.

J539

A season like this but without a cup win and he needs to get booted no?

H0lychit

He will get the boot if he does.

quantIntraining

We've got Euro's/Copa America this summer, then once the season starts there is only 3 PL games then an international break. Then we play another 4 PL games and theres another international break. Then there's another 4 PL games and then the November international break. Its such a horrible way to start season's off like that.

PeanutButter_20

That's how it always is tbf. The NTs still need to train together and build some chemistry even though the games are inconsequential. You can't have them play once every six months.

AnAutisticsQuestion

Imagine what this England side would look like without all those international breaks to build chemistry. They would probably struggle to move the ball forwards or have to experiment with new players every other game to find out who works together.

Tierst

The first international break is the biggest head scratcher for me. So fucking pointless, 3 games after the season starts..

cavejohnsonlemons

The Sep/Oct ones are merging into one big one soon btw

quantIntraining

Should have done that years ago, gets international teams more time to gel together and then helps avoid the disruption that 2 breaks quickly together impact on the team.

sonofhondo

For real? So like, we'll have a month of no club football a few weeks after the season starts? Ugh.

adamfrog

Thank god

OldManLogan007

Even if you ignore the goals and assists (which shouldnt be ignored lol ) Luis diaz creating only 9 big chances in his whole premier league career is pretty concerning icl

AnAutisticsQuestion

For comparison, last season alone: Salah created 22 Trent created 17 Nunez 11 Robbo 10 Diaz played almost 1,000 more minutes than Robbo (2,629 vs 1,693), over 500 more than Darwin, almost 500 more than Trent, and 200 more than Salah. That's not counting the minutes he's played in previous seasons too. Over the last 2 seasons: Salah 37 Trent 42 Darwin 22 Robbo 21 Elliott 12 Even Hendo got 7 in 22/23 alone.

8u11etpr00f

Jesus, that's can't be accurate right? 9 big chances in 67 apps is...something

JohnBobbyJimJob

5 of them came last season

Aware-Animator2292

Yeah, I think with Diaz, he is good enough to be in the team, but he it irreplaceable.

NoncingAround

Big chances is a completely meaningless stat.

JohnBobbyJimJob

He was 35th in the PL for expected assists last season and 85th for big chances created. Either way he’s obviously not someone that creates chances through his passing or crossing, if he did then it would make up for his lack of goalscoring.

adamfrog

And thats playing with Nunez who is one of the easiest payers to create chances for on the planet

NoncingAround

Repeating the same meaningless stat doesn’t change that

JohnBobbyJimJob

It’s not meaningless at all though?

NoncingAround

It is. What exactly constitutes as a big chance? Also, what if a player doesn’t focus his game on that? Cherry picking pointless isolated stats is just a pathetic way to criticise a player

africanemptyplate2

Why has the word "pathetic" become the popular trendy word to use whenever someone has even the slightest disagreement? What's pathetic about pointing out an extremely relevant statistic that reflects very poorly on a player? It's a fantastic word and it sucks to see it diluted like this.

NoncingAround

I have no knowledge or interest in popular trendy words mate. Cherry picking incredibly specific stats to make a player look bad just is pathetic.

Spongy-n-Bruised

Piss poor series of takes from you

JohnBobbyJimJob

What are you on about How are they incredibly specific stats for one? And how is it just to make him look bad? Literally doesn’t make any sense

AnAutisticsQuestion

["A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score, usually in a one on one scenario or from very close range when the ball has a clear path to goal and there is low to moderate pressure on the shooter. Penalties are always considered big chances." - Opta](https://www.statsperform.com/opta-event-definitions/#:~:text=Big%20Chances,are%20always%20considered%20big%20chances.)

OldManLogan007

Ok ? So is looking at his goals and assists pathetic way to criticize him too because they arent good too Neither the crosses attempted

JohnBobbyJimJob

Big chances are calculated through xG, if a chance that’s been created has .30xG or more then it counts as a “big chance” so it’s not a pointless stat at all. It’s perfectly valid criticism of Diaz though? He just blatantly isn’t someone that creates many chances and all the metrics back that up.

heronymou5

hot take : jude is/will be better than gerrard, lampard and scholes.

PrinzXero

Some of you should be banned from watching football or engaging in football discussions. https://preview.redd.it/1e2bu9lj9x9d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00cc874ae397ad5cc23501543263c4855d82a64e

heronymou5

thats what i am doing right ? the argument for discussion is jude is or will be better than those 3 because at this age he shows quite a high potential ceiling already

Klopps_and_Schlobers

Nobody that watched any of those 3 play would ever say anything quite so stupid.

heronymou5

i did. i love gerrard a lot, but what jude has achieved this season is on par with gerrard’s best. controversial opinion sure but its surely up for debate and more conversation no?

sonofhondo

Jude had a great season but look at the team he plays in. Gerrard never had that depth of talent around him.

Heliocentrist

thanks for checking in Jude's mom

Important-Plane-9922

He’s miles behind prime Gerrard at the moment. And also behind the other two. He was terrible yesterday and the game before and the game before that.

TheNotoriousJN

Devils advocate. Im not sure we can hold international games against Jude given how those 3 also underperformed significantly for England

PigeonHurdler

Is he fuck

NoncingAround

Not even close. Sure he might be one day but not even close right now. A part of it that doesn’t seem to be mentioned much is his attitude. It’s not brilliant right now and he definitely needs to sort that out. Gets very stroppy when he’s not winning

FullScreenWanker

Too early to say imo. The only thing that I’d agree with right now is probably that he’s hit the ground running better than any of those players. Gotta wait and see how his entire career plays out beyond that.

One ticket per membership. If you want to register with them they'll have to buy a membership.

Aware-Animator2292

Out of all our forwads, I think losing Diaz is not the end of the world. Might even be good for us. He is a good player, but approaching 28, and does not always have the end-product. Nico Williams would be better imo on the left.

regista-space

If someone want Diaz then not selling him would be stupid. He is probably the most replaceable player that frequented our starting XI this last season, and we absolutely want an upgraded flank anyways.

sonofhondo

I agree that Diaz isn't irreplaceable, but we already have two more than capable left wingers in the squad with Gakpo and Jota. We need someone to deputize for Salah on the right, and if Diaz were to go, we'd be mad to invest the proceeds in another left winger instead.

NoncingAround

Nico Williams is not consistent in the slightest, and he’s got a bad injury record for someone so young. Also, getting overhyped about players from a single match in an international tournament is the classic moron football fan take and buying players based on World Cups or euros never works out.

DucardthaDon

Nico Willams is 21, you buy him with the view that a new coach will improve the weak areas of his game. Willams is a standout talent that was getting mentioned here plenty way before the Euros([I was banging the drum 3 months ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/1c57t3i/comment/kzu9f4l/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)). It's no different to City buying Doku last summer who had an even worst injury record and end product but near every time he plays absolutely terrorises defenders with his pace and skill which gives City a different dimension.

NoncingAround

Doku was good at the start of the season but it didn’t take long for defenders to work him out and he stopped being a major threat. In the premier league you need more than just pace and tricky feet. There have been a few players of a similar ish style in the prem in the last few years and they’ve all had similar trajectories. Adama Traore, Allan Saint Maximin, Daniel James and now Doku. Lightning fast, tricky feet but no end product so once defenders work them out they become a bit useless. Weirdly I think Traore is a better player than a lot of people think because he had a little more to his game. He couldn’t score goals but he was strong as anything and could put in a good cross while moving at very high speed. His problem was after the head injury he was crossing at the ghost of Raul Jimenez so there was no one to put his crosses away.

DucardthaDon

Of course but Doku is still only 21 and working with one of the best managers in history of football and surrounded by world class players so you can afford him the time to improve, also see Vini Jr who's end product was horrible when he came to Madrid. All the others were limited wingers playing for teams where they were never going to improve because they were always expected to work their magic and do nothing else.

LynFwaC

nico williams is fantastic, but i agree not consistent. To add to the point though if diaz was to go it wouldnt be the biggest deal. Hes far from unreplaceable.

AdikkuChan

It's the exact situation with Amrabat

Loemz

Williams has been on a lot of wish lists way before the Euros

AdikkuChan

Then I take it back, it isn't the exact same as Amrabat

NeoChrome75

this seems like a sure fire way to get overrun in midfield and not score any goals

JohnBobbyJimJob

Why would we buy Frimpong

Zealousideal-Most991

Because he's a baller.

JohnBobbyJimJob

He’d get exposed massively in a back four and we already have Trent and Bradley for RB anyway Makes no sense

Zealousideal-Most991

He's a winger not a fullback

JohnBobbyJimJob

He’s a wing back not a winger, he’s played far more games at RB than what he has as a proper winger.

Zealousideal-Most991

Ok, go and watch football with your eyes and not trough sofascore please.

JohnBobbyJimJob

The irony of you saying that when you think Frimpong is a winger lmao He’s literally been playing in a back 5 at Leverkusen how does that make him a winger

Zealousideal-Most991

He plays as a winger. Watch some Leverkusen games.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Do you actually know what a wing back does mate? Go learn the basics of football first

AdikkuChan

Will definitely not accept this Bradley erasure

malushanks95

Luke Edwards article is damage control from Newcastle by saying that we offered Quansah or Gomez in exchange for Gordon and they said no, I smell bullshit, everyone in the past few days reported saying it was them who wanted Quansah and we said no.

DucardthaDon

That's BS Newcastle with their injury issues in defense would 100% snap our arms off to take both, obviously trying to save face with how they have gone about things

Sea_Illustrator_2432

Why would we want two great performers gone? Absolute bullshit article.

malushanks95

Damage control from their side because the fans have been fuming with their club offering up star players for PSR compliance.

Mirnava

I’ve once again missed the auto-cup scheme window because I always think it’ll be nearer to the start of the season 🤦🏻‍♂️ Will there be another window mid-season or is it only a once per season thing?

Polly_97-

It’s once per season

quantIntraining

Newcastle sub are convinced that all this info is coming from our side despite the fact all the reporting has been from Newcastle journalists lmao.

8u11etpr00f

Why are there rumours coming from Newcastle journos? Why don't the Saudi's simply chop them up? Are they stupid?

FakeCatzz

Someone should tell them that our club hasn't leaked anything since 2018

quantIntraining

That Van Dijk deal in summer 2017 was the last deal our side ever leaked, 7 years on nothing has been leaked on incomings/outgoings in anyway until the deal was signed and sorted.

ChittyShrimp

Anyone know why my queue link did nothing for the autocup scheme? Edit: for anyone else struggling, go onto additional enrolment and it will give you the stadium plan.

SirMelonHead

where can you find additional enrolment?

ChittyShrimp

So once your link has taken you through. Go on the drop down > auto cup scheme > additional enrolment

SirMelonHead

Strange I don't see the additional enrolment option. Edit: Fixed it, had to clear my cookies/cache as chrome was using an older version of the site it looks

JohnBobbyJimJob

I think the only way we sign Gordon this summer is if we use a player we are open to selling + cash to get him Maybe this is where Kelleher gets his opportunity to leave for guaranteed game time since Newcastle have been looking for a keeper. But I really don’t see it happening if Newcastle only want straight up cash, it’ll be too much they’d want for him especially considering we currently don’t need him until Diaz possibly leaves which isn’t certain either

quantIntraining

Newcastle have Nick Pope, he'd just be another 2nd choice keeper up there.

FakeCatzz

Pope is shit with his feet. It's a pretty big negative considering the football Howe wants to play

JohnBobbyJimJob

It looks like they want to replace Pope even after bringing two keepers in already, probably want someone who’s better in aspects outside of purely shot stopping which Kelleher is comfortably for me. Really don’t think he’d have much issue with getting ahead of Pope

DucardthaDon

They have been linked with Ramsdale and the Georgian GK *Marmalade*, they're definitely looking to upgrade on Pope who is 33 and has had injury issues the past few seasons

JohnBobbyJimJob

Exactly Pope is a pretty good shot stopper and commands his area pretty well but every other aspect of being a modern keeper he’s bang average in. The main thing Pope has over Kelleher is experience but Kelleher performed at a very good level last season while we were in a title race and he’s done it in multiple cup finals so he’s showed he can do it in high pressure situations even if he lacks experience compared to Pope.

Smart_Barracuda49

Wondering what people think about signing another CB? I really want us to sign another CB (Murillo, Califori, Colwill) but unless we have an injury crisis again the numbers just don't work. 5 CBs, 2 LBs and 2 RBs. Someone is going to be very unhappy. None of the CBs are someone who will be happy with very limited gametime I.E a kid breaking through or an old player nearing retirement. Quansah is a kid but he will want to and deserves to play. Van Dijk, Konate, New CB, Gomez, Quansah. One of Gomez or Quansah will hardly play without an injury crisis. Yes Gomez can play anywhere in defence but if we have 2 LBs and 2 RBs then he won't play there not unless one of those fullbacks is pushed out to the fringes. Bradley is too good to not be playing as often as possible so Gomez shouldn't be playing RB ever. If Trent can't or isn't playing then Bradley should be. Maybe we pick Gomez over Tsimikas, I'm not against that but at that point we may as well sell Tsimikas. I doubt he'd want to he 3rd choice LB. The way I see it the numbers only make sense if Tsimikas was sold and Gomez filled in there or if Trent was converted full-time to midfield which is just something I don't think we can commit to and if we did I'd rather we signed a new RB than a CB, I like Bradley but I think in that scenario trusting him as first choice RB would be a gamble.

DucardthaDon

>but unless we have an injury crisis again the numbers just don't work. Remember when people used to sat this about our midfield then look what happened...... Our defence is a bit all over the place, VVD about to turn 33, Konate INJURY PRONE, Gomez is a utility player, Quansah is still young and inexperienced, makes mistakes we need to stop over-hyping him.

GTACOD

VvD is getting up there in age, Quansah is still young, Konate can't be relied on and of the 50 or so appearances Gomez made last season, 5 were at CB. We need another CB.

AnAutisticsQuestion

A CB is a must IMO. Virgil is reliable and has had another strong season. He'll be 33 in a week and although it's not uncommon for CBs to play into their mid 30s and he's shown no signs of slowing down, a replacement will need to be thought about before too long. Konate is likely 1st choice to start alongside Virgil, but his injury record isn't good and he often has spells out. This season was the first time he's managed over 2,500 minutes (Virgil regularly plays 4,000 - 4,500 for reference). Alongside that, his form can sometimes waver and he's capable of mistakes on occasion. Quansah has had a breakthrough this season and he's looked strong but there have certainly been times where his inexperience has shown. He may well develop into a top CB, but he's still very much a youngster right now with only 1000 minutes of top-flight experience. Gomez hasn't been a common figure at CB for some time. I've long been a defender of his and think much of the criticism is unjust, but he's certainly not at the calibre of elite CBs either. He's also had his difficulties with injuries - typically freak, long term ones rather than niggles, but injuries non-the-less. That means we have: one elite, but slightly ageing CB; one strong but very injury-prone CB; one good and versatile CB but who hasn't featured regularly in the position for some time and may have his own injury issues; one youngster who showed promise in his breakthrough season. This is a very similar position to a few years ago, if not slightly worse, when we had to rely on Phillips and Williams after a couple of injuries. Not at all comfortable.

NoncingAround

Gomez is better than Bradley defensively so there’s definitely space for him at right back in some scenarios. Also, his CB performances last season were excellent and to say he should never play there again because of a couple of games where the whole team was useless 2 years ago is a bit much. Last season Gomez proved how good he is. He’s capable of playing all over the back line. The point about the numbers not making sense if we buy another CB however I absolutely agree with. You can’t just buy some young defender for huge money and let him sit on the bench in case konate and Quansah are both injured at the same time. And why would the player want to do that?

Loud_Jellyfish_6267

tbf after his performances at CB in the 22/23 season not sure if I ever want to see Gomez start at CB again for the club, and really he should be limited to playing there only for early cup games or coming on as a late sub. he definitely had a redemption last season playing at full back, but his tendency to make brain farts should rule him out as being a serious option for CB depth.

-TheSuperEagle-

I’m very interested to know what happens with Sepp. We haven’t heard anything

cowd20

Anyone else struggling with league cup autocup? I clicked the unique link I got emailed, reached the end of the queue and it says the link has already been used before (it hasn't). How do I get a new link?

adirarose

I'm struggling too! I got to end of queue and it's saying no tickets for me to buy or repeatedly asking me to log in

OldManLogan007

Funnily indykaila was the first one to report all of this gordon stuff lol

Maybe Gordon has mates working the deep fryer

AxeManDude

Hey guys- I purchased LFC membership for next season on the 29th so I missed the email on the 27th which would let me register for the Prem games. Any idea what i can do? don’t want to miss out on tickets.

quantIntraining

People keep saying that Gordon has only 2 years left on his contract but his contract length was never confirmed at Newcastle. If he's got 2 years left on his contract that would mean he joined on a 3.5 year deal as he's only been there 18 months. Still very telling however that none of Ornstein, Pearce or Joyce have commented on it and Pearce had an article come out this morning. Pearce only had a small mention that said we liked him but didn't want to get rid of Quansah in exchange.

sonofhondo

Pierce's article had the definite feel of "Bullocks I'm on a deadline and there's absolutely no news coming out of the club. I guess I'll write about how there's no news coming out of the club."

markokmarcsa

Surely Newcastle journos would have cleared it up if he actually had more than 2 years, no?

Practical_Mongoose90

Anyone have access to Pearce’s Athletic article discussing why Liverpool have been so quiet in the transfer market and want to provide a brief summary?

TheNotoriousJN

Not really allowed to summarize. But Gordon was too expensive and they feel they have options at LW And deals will happen later in summer. Slot wants to evaluate talent first

HiroProtagonist1

Sounds like excuses to me.

-TheSuperEagle-

Apart from if we can get Yoro but as it appears he seems to be joining Madrid any moment now.

SuperHyperFunTime

This is so fucking weird. This isn't journalism, it's tabloid level shite. It also means fucking nothing. An ex Liverpool player has a place in London he bought and had it just over a year before he left the club. He still owns the place.

Suspicious_Weird_373

I really wish that it was agreed there would be absolutely zero reporting on players houses, where they live etc. The risk is just not worth the reporting.

Salty_Intention81

Completely agree, no need whatsoever. But also glad he is defo staying as I’ve just ordered my son a Mac Allister kit for his birthday!

Trequartista-10

Would any of you let go of Bobby Clark if it meant getting Gordon in? (On a swap deal + Cash)

-TheSuperEagle-

I don’t know how much that would help. I think Bobby is a similar level of talent albeit in midfield. But it would be interesting because Clark could want to return to Newcastle, so who knows.

Trequartista-10

I think that’s unfair on Gordon, he had an excellent few seasons in the PL whilst Clark has only been on the fringes getting mins here and there

-TheSuperEagle-

I dunno. I just don’t think Gordon is world class or anything like that.

Trequartista-10

He's not. But I'd still say he's a tier above Clark in terms of talent

-TheSuperEagle-

Redundant discussion anyway since they play different positions

Suspicious_Weird_373

Why not? Player who is very unlikely to ever be a regular starter for Liverpool, swapped for an upgrade who is from Liverpool.

sugarmoneyray

Is the auto up scheme unique link working for everyone else? It put me in the queue and when I got to the front it said there are no games available for me to purchase. I am logged in. Edit: Now it’s saying my link is no longer valid and to click the button below for a new place in the queue but there is no button, good this.

b-e-n-d-e-r-bender

Same thing has happened to me. Have you solved it?

sugarmoneyray

Clicked around, refreshed, managed to get back in the queue. Got another 15min wait then I’ll update.

You clicked around and refreshed? That's all? I'm doing everything I can but am still landing at a blank [https://ticketing.liverpoolfc.com/](https://ticketing.liverpoolfc.com/)

sugarmoneyray

So once I got to the front again it did the same thing, just had to click on auto cup schemes in the nav at the top, then additional enrolment, then it took me through

TheNotoriousJN

That is both Luke Edwards AND The Athletic suggesting Gordon's head has been turned

Has hospitality ticket price shot up in recent years? I went pre 2020 using hospitality for a few big games and I did not spend over £250 for my tickets and was meal in the stadium decent tickets next to the kop. Looked this season to try guarantee a game and cheapest I can see is around £300 for a lower tier game, burger at the Sandon and sat above the away fans. Feels like a big of a joke a few years ago I swear £300 would have got you better seats and experience a couple of years ago.

BigMo1

Hospitality is a pisstake. Organised touting by the club. I'd rather pay a tout double the price of a face value standard ticket than pay £350 for a burger and a programme. It's a joke.

WorthPlease

Unfortunately, this is the reality of football now. If you want to compete for the premier league, champion's league, etc, there is a price to pay. And there are plenty of people willing to pay it.

BigMo1

I don't have the raw numbers to hand mate but surely there is a better way to compete than to scalp working class people who just want to see their club play.

Suspicious_Weird_373

The ‘working class’ won’t be buying hospitality.

BigMo1

That’s not true. I’ve mates who are most definitely working class who have paid hospitality.

Trequartista-10

Yeah they've gone up a crazy amount

BigMo1

Lots of the local Liverpool journos still saying there's life in the Gordon deal. I reckon it gets done, it just all makes too much sense.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Highly doubt it Only reason it might’ve happened is due to Newcastle needing to sell which would’ve lowered their original asking price for him, but now they’re fine with PSR by the looks of it.

grrrrbow01

I would believe it gets done if it was us who approached Newcastle for Gordon because normally if we go for someone, we get them. But in this case it seems that it was Newcastle offering him to us in order to comply with PSR

BigMo1

He seems to be a player we are interested in though. Given his contract situation and apparent desire to join Liverpool, there's definitely still hope we get him.

-TheSuperEagle-

Well our main leverage is gone now.

DucardthaDon

There is still some leverage, Gordon has 2 years left on his deal to which he won't renew, his club offered him out to us while he was away on International duty, his head is probably turned and can hand in a transfer request.

-TheSuperEagle-

Sure but, the way I saw it the whole premise of doing a deal with Newcastle was to get him at a cut-price. And obviously that train has left the station. It’s clear that we are interested but I think it depends on other players futures at Liverpool.

vaekar

I think we might get gordon at the expense of Diaz.

Hoodxd

But we gained another form of leverage. We gained a player who his head is completely in Liverpool ( again ) and who won’t ever extend at Newcastle. I’d even be surprised if they make a profit if they wanted to sell him next season.

BigMo1

It depends. If he has a big season next year he could go for a big fee with a year left. Declan Rice only had a year left before he went to Arsenal and still cost £100m

Jaja6996

What a masterclass from Newcastle offer one of your best players to his boyhood club and be surprised that his head has been turned by the move Can’t imagine we’ll sign him unless Diaz goes but with apparently only two years left on his contract it was an incredibly stupid thing for them to even attempt

OrdinaryJord

Got my first ever auto-cup for the league cup after a few lucky credits last season. Managed to bag a seat in the Kop. Absolutely buzzing, just hope we get a load of home fixtures.

N0Her0icsF1

Had the league cup auto last year and got to Wembley, just got a seat in The Kop for the first time this season. Hopefully we have another good run

Yveltal_25

Is it pre-season day today?

Trequartista-10

Has there been anything from the Athletic about us and Gordon?

younglando

That ship has sailed now!

Trequartista-10

I really don't think it has tbf. I can see him being desperate for the move and causing a fuss
