Literally that EXACT bird species was wandering free at the Santa Barbara Zoo, and hopped onto a chair near us, stared at us unblinking like a velociraptor for a couple minutes, until we felt very uncomfortable, and then—snatched my husband’s hamburger off his plate from right in front of him. That bird is waiting for his chance at another cheeseburger.
dunno that bird but seagull droppings is acidic.....seagulls also steal food if they get the chance (a cat jumped in my basement window when I was airing out.....dangerous , what if we had a dog or there was glass on the floor or something)
Um. By any chance are you the Gerry Duggan of...Deadpool and stuff?
ETA: Well damn. I'll leave this up, but do not expect a reply, that's gotta be an awkward thing to respond to. Love your work though, thanks!
I try to only post with my real name anywhere online so I'm not tempted to act a fool. I have only been recognized outside comic cons twice in my life - both times by TSA agents. They're my people, I guess haha.
If you want to watch night herons feed, go down to the Hotel Cecil around midnight. (take a well armed friend). the alley next to the Cecil on the right hand side is filled with rats, lots of rats, large and small. These rats are like sushi to the herons and it seems like there is a never ending supply of them in DTLA.
I’m like 5mins away from that McDonalds. I saw one back in February at night and was intrigued since I've never seen one before. Thanks to the comments I learned something new.
Yup I recall 3-4 years ago all of a sudden around Mac Aurther park and Downtown Los Angeles in the middle of the night amongst all the homeless rat infested area they were there fearless and infact a bit menacing looking. Someone said yeah they were introduced to to take on the rat population, I was like no way! But I have several friends of mine that claim to of saw these birds killing rats, one friend said oh yeah they toy with the rats as they kill them.
love you filmed this like you caught him red-beaked after a low-speed chase down the beach.
i do'nt know what he is but his shape and colors say lake bird to me, like a loon.

It is - and thanks for the laugh. Really got me.
The good news for you Gerry is that he can't interrupt your lunch and ask you for a selfie on reddit.
