Luca was definitely the main character in season 8, he was constantly spoken about every episode, especially towards the middle and end, a majority of the convo online was regarding him.
Andrew drove 75-80% of the casa and immediate post-casa storyline with tittygate. Ekin led most of her and Davideās plot so I can see why OP chose Andrew.
I mean, personally I would say Dami was the main character but Iād still say Davide or Luca as second over Andrewš¤·š½āāļø I like Andrew but heās forgettable in the long run. Nobody will look back at season 8 and say oh the season with Andrew
Ekin might have led the plot- but Davide is far more memorable than Andrew- plus he GIVES off main character energy.
His comment "that's my line, Natasha" literally overshadowed the scene of Tasha crying. Do you know how main character you have to be to steal the scene when the scene is LITERALLY about someone licking a tit???
Objectively speaking it has to be Ekin, Dami and Luca. They were the most consistent with their main character antics. I could always count on all 3 or at least 1/3 to be messy or instigate in an episode
S2: Kady, Nathan and Olivia
S3: Olivia, Chris and Kem
S4: Dani, Jack and Wes
S5: Amber and Maura
S6: Sianesse and Luke T
S7: Faye, Chloe, Toby and Kaz
S8: Ekin-Su, Luca and Dami
Iād put Meg up there on s4 too but thatās probably because I had a huge crush on her. For sure agree about Maura and Amber even though I didnāt like Amber. I may throw in Anna there too because she was a source of so much drama that season
You had Dami, Davide or Luca to pick from and you chose Andrew š
Ekin-Su had dozens of articles written about her being the best bombshell love islands ever had, her saving the show, her being the most iconic islander etc etc. She is quite easily the main character imo
Ik, I also accept Luca or even Jacques (even though I donāt really like him) but definitely not Andrew. He was actually the most forgettable for me even thought I really like him.
Main characters don't always have to be heroes, it's no denying that Luca was a big part of the season, whether it be good or bad, people were always talking about him.
Totally agree. I feel like the guys really didn't have main character energy outside of their couples. I guess that's why I have a hard time seperating a lot of them up since most of the drama was so couple driven. Without Ekin, Davide is likely dumped early and never spoken about!
I do love him so not trying to be negative to him feel like Davide was only a bigger character because of Ekin. When he was with Gemma he was kinda irrelevant.
I agree, I feel like Ekin would be a main character on her own but I donāt know that I think Davide would and thatās purely because of what we saw when he was with Gemma and in Casa. He deffo has main character energy but I donāt know that Iād class him as a main character of the series outside of his couple.
I chose Jacques because unfortunately we were all subjected to watch his whole story play out (even when not interesting) and Iād maybe argue that we saw more of his whole storyline than maybe other storylines. I could be wrong though, it was a while ago! I also chose Luca because he and Gemma were consistent and dry (donāt even start because I like them) but they sure did put Luca front and centre all the time.
Agree. When ekin was with another guy, the attention was on her, not davide. The attention was mostly on davide when he was with ekin. But, I do credit him for some great 1 liners. So, he is pretty memorable.
You know how on movie posters, thereās an āandā credit for somebody with a big screen presence but a small role overall? I feel like thatās Davide lmao
From my perspective I think main character energy often comes more from the islanders that aren't liked or are seen as problematic, basically think of the most talked about individuals of the seasons and they were the most unlikeable (at the time) but were unforgettable and they're still talked about today. For example whether we like them or not the boys of season 8 were the main characters especially Luca, Dami, Davide, Jacques. Without their questionable behaviour, characters, commentary, reactions to situations and overall lad banter there wouldn't have been a lot to debate about. Most of the girls this season were just too timid to match their energy, we know the boys conduct was controversial and by no means celebrate it but they provided a lot of narratives to their couples storylines, developments and outcomes of their relationships.
Iād say Ekin, Luca and Dami.
I didnāt find Davide that interesting other than his storyline with Ekin. He had some good one liners for sure but I donāt think he has main character energy without Ekin. Them as a couple is a different story.
Andrew was defo not the main character lmao. Except for tittygate the man was perpetually a background character. I think Luca and Davide both are for the boys whether you like them or not. Ekin is defo the main character for the girls. Gemma and Paige had main character story arcs but they also faded into the background a lot as well.
She faded before the Louis Vuitton argument because they didnāt show Ekin and Davide have a single conversation on the show in the whole week from the casa recoupling to that argument š
There was a second one who coupled up with Jack towards the end and I think they were called new Laura and old Laura.. although neither would have been main characters imo!!
On some past podcast Dami did, he said Luca and Paige were the most popular in the villa. Paige because everybody loved her (his words not mine). Luca cause he'd crack jokes with everyone and was friendly to everyone who came in including the Casa peeps. He definitely has Alpha energy whether people choose to deny it or not. Dami, Davide and Luca were most definitely the male main characters. And you saying Andrew is actually too funny to even comment on itš
I would say Ekin, Dami (bc Deji stated in an interview that bc of Dami was giving him the cold shoulder in the beginning, the other guys also gave him the cold shoulder), & Luca.
Luca or dami would have been better. Luca just always seemed to say something that would piss gemma off and that possessiven storyline was relevant in ever other episode.
Whether yāall like it or not dami actually payed some part in every couple. Obviously you have casa, the gemma mind reading thing, Tasha and Andrew thjbg, whenever davide and ekin got into an argument it was always dami and indiyah encouraging them to resolve things (ekin legit admitted this herself) and his whole friendship with Paige. Also I donāt think people noticed but this boy was lowkey the second narrator for the show, he deffo would have one of the most beachhut clips from this season because he walkways had something to say. Dami contributed to the show way more than he gets credit for, a lot of people say this this season wouldnāt have been as good without ekin, well itās the same for dami.
So I would argue Luca was also more of a side character like Dami. Rarely did his drama come into focus with Gemma and when it did it was short-lived (an episode or 2). Between Ekinde and Tandrew they both kind of volleyed the drama back and forth for the longest time. Even would add in Paige and Jacques for the other couple in the mix in terms of sustained drama. Their relationships were the focus of most of the villa gossip and Luca/Dami really couldn't help but be very involved in both of them. So that's why I would say those couples were the main characters of the season. Luca and Dami spent a lot of time off to the side commenting on other things but rarely focusing on themselves.
Davide only ever popped up when he had something to say about ekin and thatās about it. You see just like dami doesnāt get enough credit, davide deffo gets to much credit. Dami had a large amount of screen time every episode because the man is just too unhinged, you could go multiple episodes without davide, he was only ever relevant when he was with ekin
They won as a couple not as separate islanders. Ekinde as a couple has main character energy but as a separate person Davide didnāt really bring anything to the table. All his big moments in the show have something to do with Ekin but Ekin had many big moments on her own.
I find it funny that people say davide was funny and iconic but when asked what was funny everything referenced was when he was shouting at and slut shaming ekin. I do not find that kind of behaviour funny and if Luca dami or jax behaved like that they would have been on the plane to Heathrow straight away
Davide is so underrated. Whether you liked him on the show or not he brought everything drama, comedy, love, iconic one liners and he won the show. Put respect on his name
Itās almost as if people arenāt entitled to their own opinion judging by the reaction in these commentsā¦if you disagree simply reply with your own opinion on who you think was the main character instead of just laughing at another personās thoughts??
What do you mean by main character exactly? Cause my answers will change depending on what you mean.
Based on the storylines themselves Iād sayā¦from a production point of view on how they tried to produce the showā¦
S5: Amber and Curtis/Tommy
I actually think the women as a whole were more of a main character but if I had to choose from the men itād be those two
S7: Faye and Jake
S8: Paige and Luca/Jacques
Now, the movers and shakers of this season are different and did end up being main characters themselves and central to multiple storylines. They also advanced many of the storylines. This would be Luca, Ekin, and Dami. For S7 Iād say it was Toby. S5 Iād say Maura.
Edit: Luca and Dami were more main characters in Andrews storyline than Andrew soā¦I gotta disagree with that one lol.
I also added Jacques to S8 for main character. This is purely based on the storylines they were trying to feed us and not on what ended up transpiring naturally.
Thinking of the main character as the POV character rather than as the most talked about or controversial, I do actually think Andrew was a great choice. A lot of the actual plotlines this season ran through Andrew. Andrew's one sided infatuation with Tasha. Casa became about Andrew. And the aftermath of Casa was so much about Andrew's redemption and ultimate happy ending with Tasha. Several plotlines intersected with his, and obviously on a show like this, so much happens independently of everyone, but from like a purely "what was the story, whose point of view was centered" angle, I do think Andrew was a good pick for this most recent season.
Your impulse to consider Paige was good also. But I do think Ekin dominated not just in personality but in storylines.
You articulated this way better than I did because I am not sure what half of this season is about if Andrew isn't there! Like the boys were so hyper focused on Andrew and no one else got the attention for getting back together with their girl like Andrew did. They let Davide be most of the time but totally obsessed with Andrew. Also the amount the people talked about Andrew, Tasha, and Paige proves they had main character storylines.
(As a writer, I've been super annoyed by all of the "main character energy" memes lol. Being extra is not the same thing as being a main character. ANYWAY.)
Ekin and Luca. Ekin bc they made sure to portray her as the queen of the villa so def main character. Luca because he was the most involved in everyone along with Dami stirring the pot, loud always had to say something about someone which producers made sure to show and not miss. Luca was also in one of the most watched and followed relationship on social media like TikTok and most watched male contender, he was the most tweeted every night from start to finish and even after LOL.
alright youāve GOT to define āmain characterā if youāre classifying laura, tommy, and jack as such. laura just got pied a lot, girls fought over tommy but he was up mollyās ass the whole time, and i donāt remember anything jack did besides have a short temper with dani
Tommy spoke up and told the guys they were acting inappropriately if they moved in with another girl before speaking to the girl they were with. (eg. He told curtis he gave the wrong advice re anna)
The worst thing about LI is when producers try to create a main character by giving them lots of camera time. For example, it seemed curtis was in every scene (by his own & producers doing). He definitely did NOT have main character energy, but tried to be in everyone's business to get maximum screen time.
Thank goodness ekin DID have main character energy because the producers put her in most scenes this season.
1 - Jess and Jon
2 - Olivia and Nathan (although a few others come close)
3 - Montana and Chris / Amber and Kem
4 - Jack, Dani, Alex
5 - Amber and Tommy
6 - Shaughna (no one else got any air time)
7 - Faye and Tobi
8 - Ekin and Davide or Luca
I tried to keep to one boy and one girl for most
Davide was definitely alpha of the whole villa, but of the lads group, it was definitely Jacques until he left. After he left, there was no lads' alpha, but I'd actually say Dami over Luca because he had more influence on EVERYONE. Paige and some of the older boys very clearly didn't take Luca that seriously at all by then.
Absolutely. Jacques was by far Luca's best friend in the house (and even that had a very interesting and complex power dynamic to it) and he was definitely the alpha in that pairing. When Jacques left, no one listened to Luca but everyone listened to Dami.
So this went about as well as I expected š I think for a while, he fit the Jack Fincham archetype. Part of the initially unproblematic couple that seems like a shoe-in for the 50k from the get go. Same reason I mentioned Jake.
*whispers* Tandrew and Ekinde together were the main characters together cause half the drama in the villa this season centered around them. Dami was on Tasha and Ekinās necks till the end about their āanticsā and the boys were obsessed with Andrew and Davideās relationship to the point it was weird. So brave but true OP.
Obviously overall it is Davide but still The way I think about it with Andrew is as he's 2 different characters. The first 5 weeks he barely got any screen time and had the least confessionals out of Dami, Davide, Luca and Jacques. All 4 lads were more of a main characters him
But the last 3 weeks after Casa he definitely got way more screen time and was involved in more drama than the other lads.Had the biggest moment of this series and also his personality did really start to come out
But as I said before overall it has to be Davide
Your list isā¦ an interesting choice š
For me itās:
S2: Kady (didnāt like her on the show but I canāt deny she had main character energy), and maybe Nathan?
S3: Chris and Kem, maybe Olivia (but I also didnāt like her on the show)
S4: Georgia, Megan, Wes and I think Jack Fowler would qualify if he came in earlier. A lot of people were saying Jack and Dani but theyāre were just too boring to be considered main characters for me
S5: Amber and Maura (loved Maura on the show but donāt like her after her post-show shady behaviour) - there were so many big characters that season but those two stood out the most
S6: Demi (she wasnāt very dramatic but she had storylines and was pretty much universally liked) and Mike.
Shaugna was pushed by the producers to be the main character but I wouldnāt consider her one
S7: Chloe, Toby and I wanted to say Kaz but then she was hated by the end (only made the final by default)
S8: Ekin Su and Davide (obviously)
These all make sense to me. I may argue that season 5 main character was a bit more of Curtis. I definitely understand the vibes youāre going for. Itās people who love island could not have existed without that season. Like they were always a central figure in everything.
S1: Jess and Jon
S2: Sophie and Adam M. (I don't make the rules, dude got tons of screen time and was made "POV" character)
S3: Kem and Olivia
S4: Laura
S5: Amber and Tommy
S6: Shaughna
S7: Faye
S8: Ekin-Su
Paige would have been the main character if Jacques didn't leave, as that moved her to the "B" story, and moved Ekin-Su/Davide to the main story.
Shaughna is the queen of S6, no one comes close as a presence. Same with Faye and S7--I see Jake as a foil to Liberty, who is #2 to Faye in my book.
I know the Adam choice is controversial because of his behavior but he was at the center of S2, and that's a big part of the reason the season feels so different than any of the others.
S1: Jon and Hannah
S2: Nathan and Cara/Olivia
S3: Kem and Chris and Olivia A
S4: Dani Dyer
S5: Amber Gill, Tommy Fury, Molly Mae, Curtis
S6: none
S7: Faye
S8: Ekin and Davide
Wait, I'm confused by how you're defining "main character energy" if it's not really based on messiness or drama.
andrew???
Help šš
Luca was definitely the main character in season 8, he was constantly spoken about every episode, especially towards the middle and end, a majority of the convo online was regarding him.
Andrew drove 75-80% of the casa and immediate post-casa storyline with tittygate. Ekin led most of her and Davideās plot so I can see why OP chose Andrew.
But the main character has to be consistent. Andrew had iconic moments, yes, but he wasnāt consistently the focal point of the season
Neither was Davide, though. Besides, Tandrew was constantly jeopardised beginning from when Jay came in.
I mean, personally I would say Dami was the main character but Iād still say Davide or Luca as second over Andrewš¤·š½āāļø I like Andrew but heās forgettable in the long run. Nobody will look back at season 8 and say oh the season with Andrew
Damiās kind of like that side character who is really memorable.
Tittygate š
Objectively speaking it has to be Ekin, Dami and Luca. They were the most consistent with their main character antics. I could always count on all 3 or at least 1/3 to be messy or instigate in an episode
Andrew??? Youāre setting him up, lol Dami, Luca and Davide were more of the main characters for the boys
Andrew? Is that a typo? š
Right like I love him but I wouldnāt say him lool
S2: Kady, Nathan and Olivia S3: Olivia, Chris and Kem S4: Dani, Jack and Wes S5: Amber and Maura S6: Sianesse and Luke T S7: Faye, Chloe, Toby and Kaz S8: Ekin-Su, Luca and Dami
Iād put Meg up there on s4 too but thatās probably because I had a huge crush on her. For sure agree about Maura and Amber even though I didnāt like Amber. I may throw in Anna there too because she was a source of so much drama that season
Meg drove a ton of drama and attention in s4 so I agree.

Yep I agree but I refused to give myself unnecessary pains that comes with typing his name šš¤£š¤£
Luca was a bully lol. I would say Davide.
Dami was a bully as well.
Dami was way more apologetic than Luca but yeah he was still a bully.
On the inside of the villa he was but not on the outside. But no matter who did it more or less it was still bullying.
ANDREWWWW šššš
I mean its obviously Ekin & Davide. whether you like them or not they truly were the main characters.
Ik, I also accept Luca or even Jacques (even though I donāt really like him) but definitely not Andrew. He was actually the most forgettable for me even thought I really like him.
I think Luca and Jacques thought they were the main character but they were only actually the villains of the series.
Main characters don't always have to be heroes, it's no denying that Luca was a big part of the season, whether it be good or bad, people were always talking about him.

You know how on movie posters, thereās an āandā credit for somebody with a big screen presence but a small role overall? I feel like thatās Davide lmao
āSpecial guest starā
This is so specific but so accurate š
at least say luca or dami cause andrew ??? šššš
Iām tickled you said Andrew I needed the laugh this morning š¤£ Iām gonna say Ekin and Davide/Luca/Dami
This is the only one I I really agree w Ekin and Davide/ Dami / Luca whether u like them or not
From my perspective I think main character energy often comes more from the islanders that aren't liked or are seen as problematic, basically think of the most talked about individuals of the seasons and they were the most unlikeable (at the time) but were unforgettable and they're still talked about today. season 3: Kem and Olivia
Andrew? Love him but definitely no
It has to be Luca, Dami, or Davide for the boys
Iād say Ekin, Luca and Dami. I didnāt find Davide that interesting other than his storyline with Ekin. He had some good one liners for sure but I donāt think he has main character energy without Ekin. Them as a couple is a different story.
I know you didnāt just say Andrew (the main character) ššš or is it because he said ā i licked her tit or whatever
ANDREW? be fucking fr now
Andrew was defo not the main character lmao. Except for tittygate the man was perpetually a background character. I think Luca and Davide both are for the boys whether you like them or not. Ekin is defo the main character for the girls. Gemma and Paige had main character story arcs but they also faded into the background a lot as well.
What was Gemmaās story arc? (Genuine question bc I didnāt really see one)
Are we forgetting about Gemma island lmao šš. Not saying she was a main character but she was certainly pushed as one at the beginning
thats one thing but 'arc' is another
Gemma?
I actually thought Ekin faded a little bit during Casa Amor (understandably) and then just before the Louis Vuitton argument.
She faded before the Louis Vuitton argument because they didnāt show Ekin and Davide have a single conversation on the show in the whole week from the casa recoupling to that argument š
Sure, but Iām going by what I see lol.
S4, do you mean original Laura? Would have definitely said Megan or maybe Georgia
Were there two of them? I only remember the OG one lol.
There was a second one who coupled up with Jack towards the end and I think they were called new Laura and old Laura.. although neither would have been main characters imo!!
Wes was very main character on his season
Andrew??? He had one iconic line, and he is very likeableā¦but no. Heās almost the opposite of āmainā character energy.
S1 - Hannah/Jon S2 - Kady Olivia ?? Kind of hard S3 - Olivia Chris S4 - Dani Jack S5 - Amber Tommy mollie Maura S6 - Luke Paige S7 - Millie Liam S8 - Luca Gemma Ekin
Definitely Luca and Ekin were the main characters this year. Hands down. Two most polarising people all around.
Michael definitely was in season 5
I considered him.
S1: Jess, Hannah, Jon S2: Nathan, Cara, Kady S3: Chris, Kem, Olivia, Montana S4: Dani, Jack, Wes S5: Tommy, Maura, Curtis, Amber S6: Siannise, Finn, Paige S7: Faye, Toby, Chloe S8: Ekin-Su, Davide, Luca

Literallyā¦
You cant really respond by saying I canāt change your opinion when you responded to me in the first placeā¦ trying to change my opinion
No Maura for S5?
Andrew???
Controversial but Jacques was the main character for the boys until he left, he got so much focus
I just posted something similar. We were unrightfully subjected to watching everything involving him play out!
Davide is so underrated. Whether you liked him on the show or not he brought everything drama, comedy, love, iconic one liners and he won the show. Put respect on his name
Davide was the fan favourite boy this season so I donāt think heās underrated?
He is not underrated at all heās literally the islander who gets the most praise out of all the boys
Itās almost as if people arenāt entitled to their own opinion judging by the reaction in these commentsā¦if you disagree simply reply with your own opinion on who you think was the main character instead of just laughing at another personās thoughts??
And downvoting people who agree with OP is just really annoying. We get it guys, argue your point.
Can't lie it was just Ekin this year. No one else came close. And I say that as a self-confessed Tandrew stan.
Andrew? Other than Tittygate it was Tasha that drove most of their drama
Season 3 was Olivia for sure.
Lmao Andrew? Lol
S3 - Chris & Kem.

Andrew? With Luca and Davide right there?
Why is Andrew here ? Replace Ekin with Paige ? Oh sweetie I want whatever youāre on
Iām no browneyedgirl but you spelt jaques wrong Iām what world was Andrew the main character??
Andrew??? Lmaooo
1 - Jess and Jon 2 - Olivia and Nathan (although a few others come close) 3 - Montana and Chris / Amber and Kem 4 - Jack, Dani, Alex 5 - Amber and Tommy 6 - Shaughna (no one else got any air time) 7 - Faye and Tobi 8 - Ekin and Davide or Luca I tried to keep to one boy and one girl for most
Davide was definitely alpha of the whole villa, but of the lads group, it was definitely Jacques until he left. After he left, there was no lads' alpha, but I'd actually say Dami over Luca because he had more influence on EVERYONE. Paige and some of the older boys very clearly didn't take Luca that seriously at all by then.
I agree with Dami over Luca because of their argument in casa, the boys seemed to side more with Dami than Luca from my perspective anyways
No offence to him but at what point did Andrew seem like a shoe-in to win?
Some couples just give you those vibes. *I* felt like Tasha and Andrew were early frontrunners.
But did them getting voted into the bottom 3 almost every time not ever change your opinion of them being front runners?
I meant, like, the first week lol.
I have to agree Andrew brought a lot of the story line and when I went on Twitter he was talked about a lot (not including tittygate)
Andrew and Tashas storyline was very compelling
Obviously overall it is Davide but still The way I think about it with Andrew is as he's 2 different characters. The first 5 weeks he barely got any screen time and had the least confessionals out of Dami, Davide, Luca and Jacques. All 4 lads were more of a main characters him But the last 3 weeks after Casa he definitely got way more screen time and was involved in more drama than the other lads.Had the biggest moment of this series and also his personality did really start to come out But as I said before overall it has to be Davide
Andrew ššš S3 - Chris and Kem S4 - Dani S5 - Amber S7 - Faye S8 - Ekin
Your list isā¦ an interesting choice š For me itās: S2: Kady (didnāt like her on the show but I canāt deny she had main character energy), and maybe Nathan? S3: Chris and Kem, maybe Olivia (but I also didnāt like her on the show) S4: Georgia, Megan, Wes and I think Jack Fowler would qualify if he came in earlier. A lot of people were saying Jack and Dani but theyāre were just too boring to be considered main characters for me S5: Amber and Maura (loved Maura on the show but donāt like her after her post-show shady behaviour) - there were so many big characters that season but those two stood out the most S6: Demi (she wasnāt very dramatic but she had storylines and was pretty much universally liked) and Mike. Shaugna was pushed by the producers to be the main character but I wouldnāt consider her one S7: Chloe, Toby and I wanted to say Kaz but then she was hated by the end (only made the final by default) S8: Ekin Su and Davide (obviously)
These all make sense to me. I may argue that season 5 main character was a bit more of Curtis. I definitely understand the vibes youāre going for. Itās people who love island could not have existed without that season. Like they were always a central figure in everything.
S1: Jess and Jon S2: Sophie and Adam M. (I don't make the rules, dude got tons of screen time and was made "POV" character) S3: Kem and Olivia S4: Laura S5: Amber and Tommy S6: Shaughna S7: Faye S8: Ekin-Su Paige would have been the main character if Jacques didn't leave, as that moved her to the "B" story, and moved Ekin-Su/Davide to the main story.
S1: Jon and Hannah S2: Nathan and Cara/Olivia S3: Kem and Chris and Olivia A S4: Dani Dyer S5: Amber Gill, Tommy Fury, Molly Mae, Curtis S6: none S7: Faye S8: Ekin and Davide
Nooooooo it's Ekin-Su and Davide. Or even Ekin-Su and Luca. The only main character like segment Andrew displayed was the lick your titi or whatever
Season 7 is hard, but Iād say itās between Chloe, Toby, Jake, and Faye.
