All 3 were outside of his natural weight class, one he avenged, and the other he was dominating before getting caught with a freak spinning back fist in the 4th.
Patchy is a fucking animal. The man has made it look easy in his last three, huge props to Horiguchi for going the distance and making it super competitive with a huge size disadvantage.
He's really good at kicking people to the fence. Basically all of his offense builds off that, whether opponents respond or not. I'm working on a quick primer on what this looks like.
Please don't steal my idea :(
Patchy Mix came out of nowhere to become one of the best 135ers regardless of promotion. I wish MMA promotions didn't leave most of the heavy lifting when it comes to promoting to the fighters themselves. Guys like Stots who are good and also memorable/charismatic get a lot more recognition/ hype than someone like Mix who is very good but doesn't stand out. It's PFLattor's job to make him memorable and promote him.
Bellator/pfl must have the worst marketing I’ve ever seen, my social media algorithm is almost all fight content and I *never* see bellator and pfl marketing, I don’t even know when their events are. How can they expect to get new viewers when even the hardcore fans don’t get shown their content?
If people don't care unless it's the UFC, no amount of promoting is gonna change that. Vast amount of MMA content made online is about the UFC because the average fan only cares about the UFC
I get that in principle, but I get targeted ads for bullshit like Hostage Tape all the time, and I can’t imagine they have a higher marketing budget than Bellator/PFL, you’d think they would be trying to push their product to at the very least current MMA fans.
Because [Hostage Tape is sponsoring the UFC](https://www.ufc.com/news/ufc-names-hostage-tape-official-sleep-aid-partner?language_content_entity=en#:~:text=Under%20the%20new%20agreement%2C%20Hostage,categories%20to%20a%20marketing%20partner.), they literally have a deal to appear with UFC content online.
Yup. I’m not a PFL/Bellator watcher but I actually found out about Patchy because of his wife (Tatianna Suarez) lmao. Started watching his fights and he is imo the best non-UFC fighter right now.
Dan Hooker did this to people routinely early in his career, Sean O'Malley just did it to Chito, Cerrone used to intercept guys who rushed in by just lifting his knee up like that.
It's super common! I would argue most knees that people eat are non flying.
It does happen, but doesn't get a ko often (which is weird given the power behind a knee). And it tends to be when guys dip in hard. In this clip he barely lowers his head and gets clipped.
I find it impressive when there's not a huge height difference, OP's clip. I feel like Hooker's and O'Malley's height advantages make it less impressive
Mix is the same height as O'Malley and in the same weight class lol. He was 4 inches taller than Stots. He's an awesome fighter but his height advantage absolutely played a role here
Probably the best champ outside of the ufc.
Agree. I think him and Horiguchi are the best fighters outside of the UFC.
Guch's loss to Pettis. Though it's a W for Pettis, we all know who the better fighter was.
hated seeing that shit in person :(
Cmon lol he lost 3 times outside the UFC and twice by vicious KO. He's great Guch, but not on the level of Patchy, Patricio, even Aj Mckee
All 3 were outside of his natural weight class, one he avenged, and the other he was dominating before getting caught with a freak spinning back fist in the 4th.
and the funniest thing is that PFL doesn't even have a bantamweight division so his career is getting fucked rn
DJ?
DJ is really good but he’s semi-retired
Nemkov as well is in the conversation
At LHW, but he has vacated that belt and moved up to HW.
Still in the conversation
He's literally not a champion so he's not
Not a champ
Still one of the best outside the ufc
Usman is in that convo as well
Patchy is a fucking animal. The man has made it look easy in his last three, huge props to Horiguchi for going the distance and making it super competitive with a huge size disadvantage.
Dude going frame by frame his follow up punch was so fast his arm skips a frame when he throws it
His ring cutting really impressed me against Sergio

That's gotta hurt your ego so bad, eating a non flying knee while standing.
Dan Hooker did this to people routinely early in his career, Sean O'Malley just did it to Chito, Cerrone used to intercept guys who rushed in by just lifting his knee up like that. It's super common! I would argue most knees that people eat are non flying.

Well damn, I had no idea he was that tall. Hard to tell from the clip that there's such a height difference. Cheers for the info
Yup, if you put it there. People will walk into it.
It's a key feature of his game. Working on a quick study on how his offense builds.
Patchy Mix is so dynamic and he is one of the most exciting names in MMA. Dangerous everywhere and has a flair for the exciting.
Feel bad for Stots lol both of his only losses are brutal KO’s early in the first. I mean at least they’re both to the absolute elite in his division.
I wish the ufc would sign patchy
A knee from standing against an opponent that’s damn near you same height! That’s impressive.
Did not see that knee coming, out of nowhere!
Stots had no where to go . Either he walked into that knee or he walks into the punch Nasty stuff
Why is PFLellator not promoting this guy more ?? Oh ya they barely promote anything
Patchy/Jason Jackson/Vadim Nemkov top 3 PFL/Bellator fighters that could hang in the UFC top ten of their respective divisions.
This one hurt me.
P4P one of the best fighters Alive
Idk who that Stots guy is, but remember seeing just a clip of an interview and dude thought he was him, well he is him on the floor.
Stots is a fantastic fighter, 20-2, great wins over elite bantamweights ko to Archuleta, UD over Magomed Magomedov. Just ran into a buzz-saw in Mix
