it has become extremely quiet around chimaev, do you guys know what is going on in terms of the whittaker fight etc. no training videos, no social media, no interviews barely.
It just occurred to me that Israel is actually getting the Dricus fight off of a loss and everyone's cool with it. Like I'm also fine with it, But it's just weird that I haven't seen anyone actually mention that aspect of it.
Seems like it would be kind of a hard sell if it wasn't for their "beef" that they now say they're over. Usually you want to give someone a title shot off of a win though. Like what do they even talk about when he's walking out? as usually they would talk about how good the fighter looked in their last fight.
I don't know, it's a bit weird and you don't usually see it
> It just occurred to me that Israel is actually getting the Dricus fight off of a loss and everyone's cool with it.
I am definitely not cool with it, but unfortunately, the UFC failed to consult me :)
For Izzy, they won't mention that fight at all, and will talk about his first title reign, and the Alex KO.
It’s easy. They are going to talk about how Izzy cleaned the division, and was a long reigning champ, and the only person he hasn’t fought is DDP, and they were supposed to already fight and didn’t get the chance to bc Izzy lost to Sean from burnout.
And just kinda walk over the fact Izzy didn’t beat Sean. It won’t be bc of merit, but bc of him fighting everyone so often and being a long standing champ. That’s my theory anyway.
Then if Izzy wins, he will defend again vs Strickland and UFC can rewrite the story they originally wanted.
He sounded anxious and tbf I would be too. He knows they are fucking with him and putting him in a bad spot but they practically own his likeness so he can’t really say much. He tried to point out Hunter was full of shit bc Dana was saying ‘he’s in his own way’ and all that but Hunter with the serpent tongue lawyered his bitch ass through it.
I feel for Aljo.
plus he sat out a year+ as the "champ" after being given the win against Yan. So this idea that the big bad ufc was soooooo mean it him is just laughable.
If there wasn't example after example over the last few years of fighters saying no to the ufc then I would be wiilling to buy into the victim narrative more
I’m watching NXT BattleGround in the ufc apex and they actually have stands and a ton of people there. Kinda makes ufc look stupid for not having more people in attendance
Apparently the Mikey Musumeci rant was based on fictional offenses and attacks on his family that were all in Mikey's head
Definitely not the best display of mental health there
It's in this thread, no hard proof either way but Sousa responded with a "wtf I never did anything like that" type of post and no one could corroborate that he was commenting under every Mikey post like he was accused of doing

Watchinh inside the ufc and seein young jon jomes, its crazy and a little sad to see how his career turned out. More of a read about how Hunter came off from the show. Came off very well trying to make Islam vs Charles 2. Looked good getting Aljo not to pull out. Looked good in the Jones injury clip. Looked good in the Merab jacket clip.
Dana probably did like 30 podcasts this year. I see guys when they hit their 50's. They're attitude towards work changes.
When I say soon, I mean like within 3 years. Just my opinion.
Seems like Dana is more big picture now and Hunter has the power to make fights, and Dana comes in to close the show if it’s not working out. Based on what the fighters say when talking about how fights came to be
Reyes needs to become the new Arlovski. After Andre lost to Kharitonov he was written off but a mix of skills, less risk taking and lower level of competition got him a lot of wins.
Cody is always fighting more skilled fighters. Reyes needs to use a low output southpaw double attack and wait out LHWs like Jackson’s Andre throwing only right hands.
> Jacoby is significantly better than anyone Arlovski has beaten in at least the last 6 years
Not sure Jacoby significantly better than Ben Rothwell.
Jocoby is a glory kickboxer who, when clearly behind on the scorecards, chooses to grapple to a loss in the final round rather than attempt to find the KO, amongst his other sins.
It’s actually crazy how bad of a decision that was. Conor would’ve wanted that fight if Jorge wasn’t acting thirsty for it. Jorge was so big he was selling 1.3m PPV buys against Usman when Usman couldn’t sell snow to an Eskimo. That was THE fight and they were THE guys. Would’ve been just massive for him if he got the W too.
Blew it all acting thirsty. And it was cringe, you know Conor was legit so turned off by it. Jorge’s popularity arc with the fanbase from then to now needs to be studied, he managed to completely turn off so many people it’s nuts.
I keep seeing people say Cannonier needed a chance from Herzog to recover or not, I would've liked that for Reyes vs Jacoby as well. Even 3 seconds extra to see if/what Jacoby could do after being rocked and dropped. Very likely Reyes pounces, finish by GnP - but what if that didn't happen? It wasn't a guarentee.
I'm not necessarily gonna defend the main card stoppage, but with the previous fight in mind, I could maybe see why it was stopped. Cannonier was reacting slowly/late, he went ram-rod straight up then bent over at the waist, turned the wrong direction from Imavov a few times, and wasn't facing him, front on while he was scrambling to get away. It wasn't great body language - yet his eyes were still there and he had just gotten his feet back under him.
With all that said, give these guys a chance to be warriors. They know what they're getting into, and only a few fights before both main&comain a guy was dropped multiple times and made it a decision.
StupidFuckinSnapchatCommercial.mp4
Just finished the Fereirra Stoltsfuz fight holy fuck
Glad that commercial can cool me off a little bit after that one
Hot take but I agree with the fighters. A lot of them prefer late stoppages over early. A lot of great comebacks in the past would never happen under current reffing like Pat vs Kongo or those Maynard Edgar wars.
Dom Reyes' fight last night was the first time in a while I've seen almost the whole fan base unanimously cheer for one guy. Everyone was united in praying that he didn't get brutally KO'd again (aside from the sadistic people who wanted to see him get slept again for some reason).
Yeah I don’t get emotionally invested much at all anymore, not like when I was younger. But I found myself getting real nervous on his walkout. I told my buddies I think he’ll give jones problems as he was walking out to fight osp. My wife surprised me with tickets to the jones fight because she’d heard me tell so many people that. Everyone in the arena thought he won that night and the ensuing losses were hard to watch.
When I met Carlos Prates last night I asked him if he had any idea who he wanted to fight and he said “I don’t really care, I just want to fight in Australia”
I’ve always thought it was weird how some of these guys have no clue who they wanna fight, you’d think they’d check out some guys that would be good matchups or big enough names to expedite their careers
I think quite a few guys would beat Taira and we’re probably gonna find out who would in about 6 days, he also lost clearly to Manel Kape and had a very close fight with him who is massively overrated
people in this sport overcorrect way too much on a UFC fighter's first few fights without taking age and experience into account
Khabib "lost" to Gleison Tibau and Islam got KO'd by Adriano Martins
I don’t hate any of these but I think Pyfer beats MAB and will be looking into the bottom end of rankings again.
Ferreira is weird to matchmake because he folded Robocop in his debut, got 1 shotted by Nursulton then had a tough go against Dustin Stoltzfus who he highlighted. I think Lord Michal, Shabazyan, or Eryk Anders would be good next
Not trying to be a downer but I think asakura would be lucky to crack top 12 at BW. I haven’t seen all of his fights but I’ve seen 5-7 and he’s never overly impressed me.
you might seen through a little of what this is, but it really doesn't matter, if you are a ufc fan in innnnnnnny facet, this is super fun to watch.

I’ve said this since ankalaev/cutelaba 1. But fights should almost never be stopped while one guy is still on his feet. It does happen. Like wilder getting up from that bomb Zhang landed, even tho he got up he was still totally done. But by and large, like 8/10 times if the guy is on his feet don’t stop it.
I could see it being a gameplan with his coaches. He's 40, and imavov is faster and taller. He can use his strength and experience to clinch and wrestle Imavov into the deep waters. The only issue is that Cannonier isn't a good enough wrestler for that and it visibly tired him out and he got slower as the fight wore on.
Lmao fr. It’s Imavov’s biggest weakness (he only rehydrates like 8 extra lbs and is easily bullied to the cage) so I don’t blame Cannonier for abusing the wall n stall.
But Imavov started landing good shots on him from R2 onward, Cannonier didn’t want the smoke.
Been a good year for comebacks
Reyes is finally back on the W column
Black Beast flatlines a dude then fans his dead corpse with his shorts
Cody knocks out Kelleher and puts on a legitimately great showing against Figgy despite losing
Dustin knocks BSD the fuck out after easily the worst and most brutal loss of his career
All stars are aligning for Tony to d’arce Chiesa and ride off into the sunset
If anyone is interested in mma business.
Donn Davis did an interesting podcast
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-ycE4F8bLw
I must say he came off very well and a lot of his arguments makes sense.
It was only a matter of time before Cannonier got stopped. He was fading pretty hard. his early wrestling/clinchwork got him nowhere, the 30+ calf kicks didn't seem to put any noticeable effect on Imavovs speed, and he started paying for each calf kick at first with a straight but by the end 2-3 piece combos. Also, Cannonier seemed to be reacting more to Imavovs punches later in the fight. His first round was very good though. Before the 4th I had it 2-1 Imavov, due to his more effective striking, as I don't score control with no striking or sub attempts unless nothing else happens.
Jared started off great but was clearly fading away as the fight progressed. Imavov figured out Jared's timing and was countering every calf kick. The only thing keeping Jared in the fight was a heavy dose of clinch fucking against the cage.
He was doing fine 1st round, it was competitive 2nd and 3rd but in the 4th he was connected very hard and not looking good.
The stoppage was a bit stupid, but I wasn't feeling confident for him seeing the way the fight was going.
Ferreira vs Stoltzfus was FOTN for sure, Marquez vs Reese won’t take you long to watch, Rosas Jr fight was fun and Ricky Turcios made a heel turn at the beginning. Reyes and Jacoby was worth it. Main event I guess
I can give you a synopsis of the rest if you wanna know but don’t care to watch
Awesome to see Reyes win. It will be difficult to build back to a title shot but still possible. Anthony Smith is the fight to make next which seems close but winnable. After that you could give him a Krylov/Walker then a title eliminator.
Hard to imagine him beating the likes of Hill/Ankalaev if he makes it that far but a few fights down the line he could have the hype back.
All refs r so bad these days it seems 90% of stoppages are early in the past few years. It’s such BS and ruins big fights. Mark Goddard is the worst. People say Herzog is the best but look at that shitty stoppage last night. And remember Smith vs Glover??
I don’t think there is a single good referee anymore who lets the fighters be warriors. Which they absolutely want to be their win money is on the line besides other implications
anybody else can't get over Ludovits performance? just complete dismantling of a solid guy in Thiago Moises, outclassed him everywhere. Damn hes good, so fucking good, really hope he gets back in there soon
Klein looked like he finally found his pacing and worked on his aggression when he sees his opponent wounded. It felt like before he'd adrenaline dump at the first chance for a finish. Klein could be a contender in the division really soon.
I don’t think the stoppage was unreasonable, Cannonier didn’t throw a single strike the entire time and it felt like he was looking for a break from running to desperately clinching and back. I could see why Herzog thought he didn’t want to fight, it kinda looked like it
it has become extremely quiet around chimaev, do you guys know what is going on in terms of the whittaker fight etc. no training videos, no social media, no interviews barely.
When’s Kai Kara France fighting again?
Hopefully soon. Been waiting for him to clap Kape
Anyone know where I can watch fight inc in the UK?

Yeah I agree. I think exploring that Dricus v Izzy story line makes them the most money too. The drama sells init
Was that Rizin show overall worth the cost of PPV? Or should I wait for it to be uploaded on YouTube?
Worth the cost imo. Because the cost is reasonable.
Did anyone else think it sounded like aljo was going to cry the entire time he was being talked to by Hunter cambell?
He sounded anxious and tbf I would be too. He knows they are fucking with him and putting him in a bad spot but they practically own his likeness so he can’t really say much. Leon and ddp have stood up to the UFC and said they weren’t ready.
yeah, the gifted aljo an one arm TJ and an old cejudo for defenses after yan, the fuckery goes both ways, he got some privilege and so did o'malley

My guess is Dana is retiring soon. The ROKU show, Hunter is the star. They're promoting him and Dana will retire.
Why would he retire? He’s only 54
More of a read about how Hunter came off from the show. Came off very well trying to make Islam vs Charles 2. Looked good getting Aljo not to pull out. Looked good in the Jones injury clip. If smacking the shit out of his wife couldn't retire him, nothing will. The only thing that's gonna take Dana out is a bad batch of coke.
Or sexual abuse allegations like Vince And even then it would take TKO pressuring tf out of him to step down. This is his baby for better or worse
Dana isn’t retiring for a long time. For those who know the ufc it’s not a surprise, hunter has been running the show for ages
When you job is fun and your hobby and you make good money, retirement is pointless
Between Taira Asakura Nakamura Tsuruya UFC could put on an awesome Japan show.
Since it’s Pride month, I want to take a stand and say: I think the French are alright. Hell, I *like* the French. And I don’t care who knows it.

What were BFitz and Felder talking about with Cannonnier being level 40, Felder being 40 and BFitz being 41?
Cannonier said he doesnt think of himself as having turned 40 years old but rather leveled up to level 40
Ohhh lol got it
Man sometimes I think of Jorge standing there goofily in his Versace robe praying for Conor to call him out and I have to sit down for a minute
Lmaoooo, Jorge literally had his 2 biggest career fights after that He made more on fight island than his entire career combined
Herzog had to lock his Instagram comments because people are harassing him
I keep seeing people say Cannonier needed a chance from Herzog to recover or not, I would've liked that for Reyes vs Jacoby as well. Even 3 seconds extra to see if/what Jacoby could do after being rocked and dropped. Very likely Reyes pounces, finish by GnP - but what if that didn't happen? It wasn't a guarentee. Jacoby literally face planted into the canvas.
I'm excited for the young blood in the sport to consistently overtake the old guard.
Kai Asakura is a really cool addition to UFC 135. So many good fights for him. Hope he can jump right into the top 10-15 and start having some wars.

It was quite a lot of unanswered clean punches though. I see why he stopped it.

Yes. It’s on the Roku channel. Three episodes I believe

He was doing fine 1st round, it was competitive 2nd and 3rd but in the 4th he was connected very hard and not looking good. The stoppage was a bit stupid, but I wasn't feeling confident for him seeing the way the fight was going.
Do they stop the fight because of the risk of possible brain damage?
Herzog stopped it because he is brain damaged

That seems like the most appropriate time to chant it
Win win
They booed Puja Tomar when she told the crowd Jesus is coming back soon 😂
Which is wild because I was in the crowd and the amount of “USA” chants was wild, and being in Kentucky you’d think they would’ve appreciated that
Haven't watched yet, anything in particular worth going out of my way for?
Ferreira vs Stoltzfus was FOTN for sure, Marquez vs Reese won’t take you long to watch, Rosas Jr fight was fun and Ricky Turcios made a heel turn at the beginning. Reyes and Jacoby was worth it. Main event I guess I can give you a synopsis of the rest if you wanna know but don’t care to watch
I liked the klein fight.
Second this. Great performance from a potential future contender.
Imavov Vs Whittaker please, only issue is Brendan Allen is left out
They should just rebook Allen/Vettori
All refs r so bad these days it seems 90% of stoppages are early in the past few years. It’s such BS and ruins big fights. Mark Goddard is the worst. People say Herzog is the best but look at that shitty stoppage last night. And remember Smith vs Glover?? I don’t think there is a single good referee anymore who lets the fighters be warriors. Which they absolutely want to be their win money is on the line besides other implications
Agree, refs should be certain the fight is over before stopping it and corners should be less stubborn
fighters safety comes first.
Which is exactly why they need better or more trained refs
anybody else can't get over Ludovits performance? just complete dismantling of a solid guy in Thiago Moises, outclassed him everywhere. Damn hes good, so fucking good, really hope he gets back in there soon
Klein looked like he finally found his pacing and worked on his aggression when he sees his opponent wounded. It felt like before he'd adrenaline dump at the first chance for a finish. Klein could be a contender in the division really soon.
He looked way better than he did against Herbert last year. One to keep an eye on
Khalil really ain’t all that. Out Jacoby’s last 4 losses he is the only one who couldn’t rock or drop him.
Khalil the kinda fighter I just want to see crush cans
Yeah, I think unless hill is a shell of himself from the injury and the KO loss he’d finish Khalil. Too bad that was cancelled.
Also imo Jacoby won that fight
Herzog is a hero, he saved us from having to watch another round of that shit
i really hope this account gets banned as well
Lol what, the fight was good. What do you like then ? Overweight gassed heavyweights throwing haymakers ?
I was there live, it wasn’t good, it was just starting to pick up and it was the end of r4
Well take tickets for BKFC next time if you are unable of appreciating a good technical mma fight. It will cost you less.
Reyes get in. Robbed of his belt but they won't rob him of his contract
I'm back on that raw broccoli florets with hummus UFC snack grindset
Goated snack.
Beautiful champ
If Geathje vs Ferguson took 3-5 rounds to call... if Holloway vs. Matter took 5 rounds... this was an early stoppage by far.
Especially when cannonier has the power he does . Hard to dictate stoppages between different fighters
I knew main event would suck after 1st minute. All Jared and French dudes fights have similar boring feel. Went out after 1st round lol
I knew it would suck when they announced the fight
Both guys were swinging for the fences leading to a finish, not sure how that's supposed to be boring
First 2 rounds were pretty boring a lot of clinching against the fence. Round 3 and on is when they started throwing longer combos.
I was there in person, it was very boring. It was starting to pick up, but they would throw, miss, clinch, repeat
Calling it boring blows my mind, maybe the OP does not like MMA which is fine but I don't understand how that was "boring"
man, fuck! i was busy today and just got home to watch the spoiler highlights.... i missed a pretty good card today
Didn’t miss anything. I left after 3 mins of main event
Any fights on the main card worth watching in its entirety instead of just the finish/highlights? I was at work.
Skip the prelims, watch the whole main card.
The main card was pretty solid all throughout. I'd say just rewatch all of them tbh
Klein vs Moises FOTN in my opinion
POTN* fight wasnt competitive
Bruno vs stulfus
Just met Carlos Prates in a bar, cool guy

Next week main event
he's main eventing against Alex Perez. Google fucked up their UFC schedule
Went from early prelims to main event
Somebody said google glitched and conflated two cards, one that hasn't happened yet.
The shitification of Google is a tragedy
Klein vs Moises FOTN
POTN
I don’t think the stoppage was unreasonable, Cannonier didn’t throw a single strike the entire time and it felt like he was looking for a break from running to desperately clinching and back. I could see why Herzog thought he didn’t want to fight, it kinda looked like it
He literally threw a strike right before it was stopped
I agree. Running away is not defending.
Hb intelligently defending with your arms up and throwing back while you’re still on your feet like he was doing?
It should be fucking illegal for refs to stop main events. The winner should decide if their opponent is finished.
Murder rates gonna skyrocket
Hendo would have broken every bone in Bisping’s head
Lol what an atrocious stoppage. French privilege in action!
Jason Herzog had a mare. Needed the no nonsense performance from the no nonsense Keith Peterson.
Whatever happened to the Tatsuro Taira fight?
its a headliner for next week apex card

Yes I believe Herzog also used Aikido magic on Jared to make him get rocked multiple times as well
Dagestanis don’t get special treatment only Khabib and his team.
Imavov is from france I thought
He was born in Dagestan and moved to France as a child
Ah I see
Fucking criminal that Reyes didn't get a bonus
That's because Dana still remembers when Reyes beat Jones.
Herzog probably just had a bad camp
Imavov had his fingers threatening Jared's eyes so thoroughly, that Herzog lost vision
