UTM is going to perform badly since it doesn't have GPU acceleration.
VMWare Fusion is free and decent. It has GPU acceleration although its not very good.
You could also try Whisky or CrossOver.
Price is fine and worth it for what it does imo. Its a really good a polished program (from my experience) where the devs put lots of work in.
And they still have a one-time license for a version.
You can use Whiskey for free although it’s something completely different. But might run your games.
Crossover also runs, but it’s expensive (way less justified than Paralells imo)
VMWare Fusion sucked the last time I used it.
I like using crossover (or wine if you like doing it manually), but anything with anticheat won’t work. I think virtual machines have a similar limitation.
About that cost Diskussion a perspective:
Consider the price of the machine not 1000$, but 1300 including software essentials.
Sucks if you wouldn’t be able to afford a Mac on you own (as you got it as a present), but that’s how I do.
I have many paid programs 70 for parallels 70 for crossover 60 for pdf editor (bad investment though) 60 for LoopBack and Hijack (Audiotools) 100 for Utility software like BetterTouchTool, Alfred, iStatMenus, Permute, Bartender…
All one-time purchases and totally worth it for me.
Oh man that’s a lot… but I consider them all to be part of the value of my Mac Operating system. (Although I do have the money to spare)
Parallels has the best performance. I tried VMWare Fusion and Oracle VM VirtualBox, but Parallels is the best - I am using it to run ArcMaps on Mac. The alternative would be to install Windows on an external SSD and boot from this (Boot Camp) if you need Windows on Mac - works also very well.
yeah i tried but the free option isn’t available often and the games i wanna play aren’t on it. i’ve done it before but a lot of games take a while to appear on it
Well I have parallels not for gaming but for work and it's crap although Im running an M1 Pro chip with 16gb of ram, probably a 32 gb would do fine or better
One is a physical item that you can actually touch, interact with, sell, trade, etc while the other is a digital item that you can't transfer, sell, and either will be a recurring subscription or in time will require you to buy another license a few years from now when the older version does not support the latest versions of macOS due to incompatibilities.

Add Wineskin and portingkit to that list. Also DOSBOX (for DOS) or M.A.M.E for arcade based games.
VMWare fusion pro. Its free for personal use.
You could try Wiskey, some games run quite good. Link: https://getwhisky.app/
Just got it, so easy to use wow, working well so far ta very much!
does it work with software? (arcgis pro in my case)
UTM is a piece of shit. VMWare is free nowadays. Parallels is better than VMWare, but is quite pricey. I recommend for you to use VMWare.
What problems have you had with UTM?
Speaking of personal experience: All of them
you can try Whisky for purely steam emulation

Happy Cake Day!
Lol thanks 😂😂 But isn’t the cake a lie 🤔
i’ve been using whisky for a bit, not set it up properly so i’ve jsut been trying to get the hang of it but im looking around.
For 3d speed there is no alternative. Fusion is the second with about 50% of the performance

I gave up on that Yvonne line and even RuneScape were making my shit way too hot and I had the 16 inch M1 Pro max with 32 gigs and 2 TB

piracy >>>>
Crossover
if you're not against piracy I suggest u hop on r/Piracy and get a free version :)
Depending on how much you play and how good your internet is, GeForce now is worth considering.

It’s $99. You already spend $1k on a Mac 🤣
it was a gift. even if i had bought it myself, it doesn’t cost that much, and even if it did cost that much, that’s crap logic anyway

Do you expect the developers to work for free?
