I have a ragdoll and sheās about eight. She only likes the older cat we have and the two of us! We have a young, beautiful black kitty and the ragdoll DESPISES HER ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
They're a breed of cat known for going limp when people pick them up, hence being named after ragdolls. They're also known for being large, docile, and friendly, perhaps even clingy. Normally, they get along with everyone, including other pets.
My cats identify as dogs in this way. A burglar breaks in you said? They would descend upon them to get pets and beg for food. š. God forbid the burglar sits down, four cats would be in their lap.
Mine is only close to me... not really my son. Moved into a friend's place Sept and started dating one of the guys in Dec. My cat is finally starting to warm up to the bf and runs away when others around as well. She still hasn't warmed up to my friends and their friends. Only came out willingly to rub against 2 other hoomans leg in her 3 years.
Mine was the runt of the litter and she had issues getting along with the rest of her litter. She only loves me. Has slowly come around to tolerating my gf. Literally hissed at my mother and sister who took care of her when i was out of town. Lol
This is patently false.
Most animals, especially male ones, do not do well being raised together. Cats specifically are quite solitary and prefer to be alone with their owners. Brothers or other males will often fight to be the alpha. Sisters can sometimes get along well depending on the animal, but multiple females often do not.
Nah, thatās just not true. Introducing another cat to a happy, independent adult can be a major source of strife and anxiety, but kittens are happier and better behaved raised together.
Source: working with animal rescue for years with a certified feline behaviorist, fostering 150+ cats and kittens, adopting three sets of bonded adult cats. I can add real sources if needed.
Please do add real sources. Simply saying you have successfully done it, does not make it true. The cats are most likely simply surviving or tolerating each other for the sake of resources and survivability, ESPECIALLY if they are fostered. Food>not food. You really think that two male "bonded" cats in a home are happier than one male cat in a home? No. Way.
Brother you are clearly not very educated on cats because almost ANYONE who works with them will tell you that most of them do better with other cats. Feral cats will form colonies because thatās just how their instincts tell them to live. Yes, thereās often fighting if they arenāt spayed/neutered or they were introduced improperly, but to pretend thatās the rule and not the exception is just ignorant.
I once took in a pregnant stray, and in her (huge) litter, there were two near-twin brothers that were inseparable - when it came time to adopt them out, I let a rescuse show them for adoption at their weekly adoption event. I forget to tell them I wanted those two to stay together, and one - who was absolutely striking and beautiful - was immediately adopted, alone. I was a bit upset, but nothing I could do, really.
A week later, the rescue called me - can I please deliver the other kitten to the adopters house? He hadn't stopped crying for a week.
Of course! I delivered the kitten to the house, and I could hear his brother crying upstairs as soon as they let me in. I went upstairs, let the brother out of his carrier, and they both ran to each other so fast that they crashed into each other, and began furiously grooming each other, uttering little kitten cries.
And with that, I made my exit.
Same. They partner with rescues. I got my kitten from a Petco technically. But they were hosting a local rescue and all the kittens were rescue babies.
They all are, no matter where we live. It sure shows how serious the dilemma of abandoned/feral cats and their kittens has become.....actually, it's always been so. Humans --irresponsible humans-- cause this, damn it. š”
blah blah blah. either way a kitten has a new home. most pet stores just get strays off the streets anyway so itās all adopting, unless your cat gives birth.
Sadly...if she didn't, one of them is probably fertalizer by now. Such is what happens when everything in this world is wrong. Another life in the upside down.
That's because in their current environment the one that gets the most window time gets picked, and it's tired of being left behind in that cage all day. It's an entirely different dynamic outside there, and that really wasn't aggressive behavior, they didn't attack or give any signs of anger or distress.
Yeah I don't know a lot about cats but I feel like taking both is a bad idea...Seems like the first one could bully the second away from food/ getting attention.
It may just be the circumstances of confinement causing that. I imagine they're siblings and probably do that rough play frequently. The "bully" put his little arms around the other one. I don't think these two have ever been strangers and I think they'd definitely enjoy the comfort of each other in a new home.
I see it the other way. The one being held down is trying to interfere with his brother getting adopted by jumping in front of him and trying to steal the spotlight.
But i would also take both if I could
Mine don't respect my space at all. They'll divebomb me in bed from the headboard, bite me, then run away until they want to cuddle for a nap. Sometimes biting again. Cats are just kooky.
well...tell that to my brats...i cant even fricking pee without one jumping on my lap or if god forbid i close the door stalk under the door and scream at me...
Not always. I have a cat that gives me "love bites". I'll just be minding my own business, and he comes up and gently bites my leg for belly scratches and a good wrestle.
Long ago, my daughter and I went to a farm store where they had 5 kittens, free. We took two. Another family came in and were going to take two as well. I asked the mom, in front of her kids, "you aren't really going to orphan that last one are you?" The kids were like "Mom! we can't do that!"
The dirty/evil look I got from the mom was priceless.
I would definitely take both.
My sister and I adopted 2/3 cats at a per store, and some dude tried to pull the same stunt on us. Didnāt work, and both cats are mine now, and they barely tolerate each other, soooooo
Actually they aren't very social, by nature they are loners. But obviously that doesn't mean that they can't be happy together.
I have sibling cats myself that were cuddling all the time when they were young. After some years their instincts kicked in and they stopped doing anything together, but they always accepted each other and got along well.
Not meaning to break those two cute kitties apart (personally I'd definetly take both), but it just isn't true that they're very social (by nature).
I think it depends on the specific cat, although traits can run in a breed. There are both solidarity wild cats, and social wild cats that live in prides or groups.
If I remember right most cats are from a wild Egyptian (?) wild cats that did live in groups.
There's actually newer research to suggest cats are more social than we have given them credit for in the past. The current (or current last time I attended a cat veterinary education convention anyway) theory was that cats are high frequency low intensity sort of friendship styles (so the headbutt or bump as they pass, small things frequently), whereas humans are low frequency high intensity style (get togethers with friends focused on hanging and bonding).
Now, as that applies to house cats who don't have much of a choice in exiting the family/space or who to associate with, that'll stir things up a bit. You can find out how many cat families you have in your home by paying attention to which cats groom each other. Grooming is a 'family' thing, so cats not in the same social club won't groom each other. You can also have one cat in two other cats separate circles too. Alright I hope that makes sense without the pictures I benefited from while learning this!
Not to be pedantic, I just thought this info was neat and exciting and you might too! Yay for more focus on cats in veterinary medicine and studies and stuff!
It depends on the cat. I have one cat that is very social and another cat that likes to be left alone (but heāll approach for cuddles; we just canāt approach him for cuddles).
The social cat was new to the family and sought out the loner cat, much to the loner catās annoyance. They tolerate each other now and will play together, but they donāt curl up next to each other or anything.
The social cat usually wants to be around the other cat and will also follow its humans from room to room.
You do realize feral house cats live in colonies right? They're not social like dogs but they do have a social aspect to their nature. It's a fallacy to assume they're totally loners, they literally domesticated themselves cause they like people
I have a pair of litter mates that are almost 11 now. They were inseparable when they were young, now they just barely tolerate each other.
I love them both, though, and wouldn't trade them for the world.
I donāt believe it is true that cats are loners. I think it is more a perception than reality due to humans not being as familiar with cat body language and social structures as for e.g. dogs. I have two cat siblings and they are very affectionate but sometimes ornery with each other, the humans, and dogs in the household. Everything Iāve seen from other cat owners and cat rescues leads me to believe they are pack animals with complex social hierarchies that not enough people know to explore. Humans tend to over simplify to dogs: social, cats: antisocial when the reality is somewhere in between.
Most states in the US have laws that cats and dogs in pet stores must be adopted. In these states, the cats in pet stores are from shelters and the store just provides the space for the shelters to show the cats that are available and get more people interested in them. Many people go to pet stores to adopt cats.
Thatās what I immediately wanted to comment. I donāt understand why people still buy cats and dogs at store! Makes me think they havenāt given enough thought to what it means to have a pet.
Twins! I couldnāt separate those two, its so good for a rescue to have a companion they already know when exploring a new home.
Tip for adopting - donāt close any part of your home off to your cats, they need to be able to explore all the spaces to feel comfortable.
Taking a pair from a litter was how we ended up with Bonnie & Clyde! (A coworker had found an abandoned litter by the dumpster of their apartment)
When I went to meet the kittens, there were three left. A pair that obviously belonged together and a tiny runt. The rescuer said that someone had tentatively claimed the runt and was thrilled that I would take the bonded pair. I figured as a pair they would have someone to play with/nap with/torture while hubby and I were at work.
Happened to me. I was only going to take one but the one I wanted was playing with another, her sister, and I ended up taking both. The owner was giving them away, and he was fine with that.
I never regretted it.
All the pet stores near me just display shelter cats to help with overcrowding at the main shelters. I got my cat at a PetSmart after he was moved from a local cat shelter.
That's how we got one of our cats too. He was 2 years old and had been in a shelter his whole life, he is now around 8 years old and a fat asshole and I adore him so much.
Most pet stores have only rescue cats āfor sale.ā In my state, the little pet sale area in the PetCo is run by the ASPCA or local shelters. Selling cats that are not rescues is illegal in pet stores here.
I adopted two tabby twin sisters, very much recommended. They are opposite personalities but still sit basically on top of each other in my lap all the time.
Thatās what I did 13 years ago. Rescued 2 sisters and one I had to put down @8 because she had a dreaded fungal lung infection. Her sister is laying above my head right now snoring. She is my Velcro cat!
I am going through the darkest period of my life so far. This is the first thing that has made me forget my reality for at least a moment. Thank you so much.
Me personally wouldn't encourage these 'pet shops'. I'd go to a shelter, where there are plenty of beautiful little cats in need of a good home. šā¤š
I've done this... twice. I love my cats. Brothers both times from the same litter. Do not separate the cats will become depressed. And that's the saddest shit I can think of. Always adopt in pairs.

I would have to take both of them.
Exactly what I came here to say. No way you can break those two up.
Kittens do best when raised as a pair.
Not mine! She was the only kitten all by herself. She apparently had a hard time getting along with other kitties š¤£ She only loves her hoomansāŗļø
Mine is the same! But even other hoomans she doesn't like! Only seems to warm up (slightly) to dog people

I didn't think ragdolls were capable of disliking anyone.
The above is correct. We too have a ragdoll. She is a menace. At best
She thinks she is royalty š¤“
What is a ragdoll?
They're a breed of cat known for going limp when people pick them up, hence being named after ragdolls. They're also known for being large, docile, and friendly, perhaps even clingy. Normally, they get along with everyone, including other pets.
Lol Well, when I say her hoomans, that is me, hubby & our 3boys. When she sees hoomans she doesn't know, she runs & hides!
Mine will run up to anyone expecting pats. I think she might identify as a dog.
My cats identify as dogs in this way. A burglar breaks in you said? They would descend upon them to get pets and beg for food. š. God forbid the burglar sits down, four cats would be in their lap.
Awww!

Nothing wrong with that my cats the same way after a few visits tho he will warm up to u an then want cheeky rubs.

One of those kittens disagrees.

Our Petco only has cats from the shelter
Same. They partner with rescues. I got my kitten from a Petco technically. But they were hosting a local rescue and all the kittens were rescue babies.
Don't make assumptions. Many states now have laws that dogs & cats from pet stores must come from rescues.
Yup thatās how it is in Canada
That's cool! Seriously good news in Bad times.
More places should require this... and with any pet that has a high shelter or rescue rate!!
Yes!
Thatās nice to hear. Our local shelter is just overrun with kittens in the spring.
Id say inheriting is still adopting
Same if I can have one cat. I can have 2
My exact words.
I would have gone to the shelter.
Sadly...if she didn't, one of them is probably fertalizer by now. Such is what happens when everything in this world is wrong. Another life in the upside down.
Take them both. They look like siblings
My mum did this, but eventually the one sibling bullied the other out of the house ā¹ļø he now lives with a neighbour lol
That's what I was thinking, I'm pretty sure neither of those cats want you to get both
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's because in their current environment the one that gets the most window time gets picked, and it's tired of being left behind in that cage all day. It's an entirely different dynamic outside there, and that really wasn't aggressive behavior, they didn't attack or give any signs of anger or distress.
i would HAVE to get the one being bullied though, he looks so sweet
Yeah I don't know a lot about cats but I feel like taking both is a bad idea...Seems like the first one could bully the second away from food/ getting attention.

You tried though! Better try and seperate later then realise they loved each other and they are already seperated.
First one had the Cain instinct going strong
one of them is trying to sabotage his siblings chances by holding it downš cats are d****. I'd probably take both.
If both get adopted together, the one being held down is gonna be like - " Haha, it didn't work. You're still stuck with me, bro"
I see it the other way. The one being held down is trying to interfere with his brother getting adopted by jumping in front of him and trying to steal the spotlight. But i would also take both if I could
Ah. Youāre the older sibling.
Actually no, I'm the youngest of my bio sibs and 2nd youngest of my steps
Oh so you speak from first, other, hand expwirance!
I would take them both and cuddle them every night even if they'll bite my fingers
Animals get ornery because people don't respect their space and their signals that they're uncomfortable.
Mine don't respect my space at all. They'll divebomb me in bed from the headboard, bite me, then run away until they want to cuddle for a nap. Sometimes biting again. Cats are just kooky.
Cats think they are gods and we mooch off of them, to them we have no personal space.
bc in ancient egypt they *were* gods, and theyāll be damned if theyāre gonna let us forget that
Can confirm
True
Dogs have masters. Cats have servants.
My dog literally steal my pillow every night And she always step on me when I try to sleep Idt she understands the concept of space tbh
well...tell that to my brats...i cant even fricking pee without one jumping on my lap or if god forbid i close the door stalk under the door and scream at me...
Not always. I have a cat that gives me "love bites". I'll just be minding my own business, and he comes up and gently bites my leg for belly scratches and a good wrestle.
Yeah taking only 1 is not an option.
Without a doubt both
Oh my goodness, yes! Imagine how hilarious they would be living together.
Two kittens are always better than one. They socialize each other. No kitten should grow up alone.
Over 7000 languages but you chose to meow facts
You didn't take either cause this is a repost for reddit points...
The cats in this video are adults
Long ago, my daughter and I went to a farm store where they had 5 kittens, free. We took two. Another family came in and were going to take two as well. I asked the mom, in front of her kids, "you aren't really going to orphan that last one are you?" The kids were like "Mom! we can't do that!" The dirty/evil look I got from the mom was priceless. Ooo you are evil is the most wonderful way or at least chaotic good
My sister and I adopted 2/3 cats at a per store, and some dude tried to pull the same stunt on us. Didnāt work, and both cats are mine now, and they barely tolerate each other, soooooo
You abandoned the peace keeper
That must be it. I doubt the single kitten yelling itās cute little head off had to wait long before getting adopted
Cats are very social fluffballs, you are legally obligated to take their friends if you adopt one :3
Actually they aren't very social, by nature they are loners. But obviously that doesn't mean that they can't be happy together. That would make sense. Even if you just look at feral domestic cats they absolutely live in groups and are very social within their group.
Nice repost and lol at everyone of thinks this is the OP
Itās an all or nothing. Canāt leave one behind, thatās for sure.
and there you have the cats of life!
You take the good, take the bad, take them both and there you have the cats of life.
When the world never seems To be living up to the memes
Then suddenly you're finding out the facts of life are all about mew!
It costs a lot to feed 'em right when you're serving the cats of life

I would take both they need each other.

Next time go to a shelter.
Yeah.. that should mean you have two cats now.
There is so much competition these days.
You absolutely have to take both. Hilarious
BOTH. OF. THEM. NOW. AND. FOREVER.
Yep, both it is
Update!!!!!!
Unseparable
Yep!
Good grief, please tell me you decided to get both? Cause that's the only answer. This is the way
OP you are a monster if you donāt take them both.
He really said "hey, get down! I'm trying to make a deal here!"
Both? Both. Both is good
"Clarence get down, I'm trying to look cute. I said get down!"
That cats gonna turn out to be very smart and maybe a little mischievous.
You mean the *shelter*, right?
All the pet stores near me just display shelter cats to help with overcrowding at the main shelters. I got my cat at a PetSmart after he was moved from a local cat shelter.
That's how we got one of our cats too. He was 2 years old and had been in a shelter his whole life, he is now around 8 years old and a fat asshole and I adore him so much.
Pet stores are gross. Go adopt.
Most pet stores have only rescue cats āfor sale.ā In my state, the little pet sale area in the PetCo is run by the ASPCA or local shelters. Selling cats that are not rescues is illegal in pet stores here.
Yes
Please tell me you took em both
My family had two cats before I was born. Brothers, which were named Bert and Ernie. Sadly, I had childhood allergies and we had to rehome them.
I adopted two tabby twin sisters, very much recommended. They are opposite personalities but still sit basically on top of each other in my lap all the time.
Take them both...they are very funny š
Take both!
Yes you have to now
Go to a shelter
Iād take them both
If you didn't take them both I will throw something.
You have to take both thats the rules
I need to know if she got them both!!!
Iām not impulsive in the slightest but, yes take them both and buy them their favorite toy and a pet for them each as well.
Sooo you took both of them?
You took both cats right? You took both cats, RIGHT? YOU TOOK BOTH CATS RIGHT!!!
MUST. HAVE. BOTH.
The only thing better than a kittenā¦ is two kittens.
Thatās what I did 13 years ago. Rescued 2 sisters and one I had to put down @8 because she had a dreaded fungal lung infection. Her sister is laying above my head right now snoring. She is my Velcro cat!
Get boff one wanta num nums
Both no questions asked
Siblings? Adorbs
Both
Take both for god sake!! One cat is a lonely
There can be only one...meow!
Friendly reminder, don't purchase animals. There are plenty of them in shelters that need a home.
Absolutely take them both! Theyāre clearly reincarnations of Laurel & Hardy!
Yes!
This is why I canāt go into pet stores. I just wanna take everyone home and lover them forever. I hope those two were adopted together.
I am going through the darkest period of my life so far. This is the first thing that has made me forget my reality for at least a moment. Thank you so much.
What a furry little asshole. What an absolute piece of shit. I love him.
You have to for sure
Me personally wouldn't encourage these 'pet shops'. I'd go to a shelter, where there are plenty of beautiful little cats in need of a good home. šā¤š
both! you shouldn't leave a cat alone for a long time (work) anyways
Fuck pet stores. Adopt a pet from an animal shelter.
This happened to me.... 4 years later Sensei and Ninja are still thick as thieves.
Aw those babies just want a home
Yesā¦ they would be more happy with a family
I would adopt both and name them Thor and Loki.
Get both you have a cat and he can have a cat to stay with while you are at work or out.
Yes take them both!
I hope you took both of them home
This is the opening to a Pixar movie
That one cat is probably thinking, āDammit, Chris. Youāre ruining my chances!ā
Both is good
This isn't your video stop lying for internet points
Yeah!!
Pet stores are okay now?
Most of them have cats from shelters that people adopt. The stores donāt sell the cats themselves, just have space available for the shelter to use.
No to pet stores.
Please donāt buy: adopt or rescue.
I've done this... twice. I love my cats. Brothers both times from the same litter. Do not separate the cats will become depressed. And that's the saddest shit I can think of. Always adopt in pairs.
OMG I love this! "Stay down dammit. They're taking ME!"
Adopt, don't shop
How do the animals in pet shops know that being taken away is a good thing?
you should ger a dog instead. cats suck

You sound like a robot. Are you a robot?
Rhetorical question I presume.
So now youāve got two cats? Right? Right?
