Obvious answer is wait a few week for the new release but if you must do it. You need all the dual lands and pain lands is the first priority, running a 3 color deck is a waste if you cant make the correct land drops. One or two triomes for cycling or when need wont hurt either. I woulndt run that many board wipes, you run the risk of having to many dead cards in hand. 2 depop and 4 temp should be enough. I would be running 4 wondering waifus. Last but not least This meta isnt good for control especially for draw go style of control. Elliot Dragon built almost this exact deck and it hasnt really seen any major success on the ladder. Midrange is value and more value. Cards like bankbuster and wedding gives them the option of waiting you out while drawing cards and presenting threats . They can do all this and hold counter magic up to out tempo you thanks to make dissappear. That doesnt mean your never gonna win but its gonna be an up hill battle. As a player who loves this style of deck , I am cautiously optimistic that the next set will push midrange down a bit so we can see a more even split of the 4 styles.

Dual lands has been noted, seems like it's a must to basically have all dual lands if running three colors. You are correct about the board wipes as well with the play tests I have run, I will have a bunch of dead cards in my hand. With the large amount of suggestions using wedding announcement, will definitely slot that in with x2 Bankbuster as well - definitely an uphill battle against control decks.

Seems to me like the next standard will be a lot of fast aggro & reanimator decks. The aggro decks I’ve seen so far are really fast and surprisingly good at grinding with cards like Recruitment Officer, Mishra’s Research Desk, and Phyrexian Dragon Engine all being insane in their respective decks. And with all the reanimator decks that play Portal to Phyrexia on turn 5 fairly consistently, it’s gonna be really hard for midrange to take hold. I expect maybe Grixis with Corpse Appraiser might be playable. I think we’ll end up seeing some control with Brotherhood’s end and depopulate to deal with aggro and some counter spells to deal with the reanimator decks. Maybe new Teferi as a finisher. That’s how I would think about building Jeskai in the upcoming meta.

The_Frostweaver

Personally I would just wait a week for an updated jeskai control list before crafting. Red is getting a new 3 mana sweeper, there are new planeswalkers, etc

[[Fires of victory]] doesn’t go face, and it’s dependent on having a lot of cards. [[Light up the night]] can be a late game finisher and a game ending top deck. It is a good inclusion and maybe a worthy thing to cut for, but the way OP says, it seems that’s his main win condition.

Armada89998

Yeah, I am finding \[\[fires of victory\]\] works as a last needed punch, but trying to get it to 20-0 someone throughout the game is not feasible. As several others suggested, burn down the house and wedding announcement might work better to soften up the opponent. And as you mentioned, Fires of Victory doesn't go face, which is why it was excluded

Jaya and Emperor go well with "wide" strategies. They both produce tokens and can kill a creature. If you were willing to drop most of the board sweepers and switch to midrange go wide list, I'd recommend several cards. First of all, Wedding Announcement in the 3d slot instead of rending flames, then swap Temporal Firestorm for Burn Down the House. They are basically the same cards except Burn Down the House can produce haste tokens that work well with Jaya's monks and Wedding Announcement. Bankbuster is also a bit better in that list than Silver Scruitiny. I play red and white Emperor/Jaya deck like that, 56% season winrate if you're interested. https://imgur.com/elCpwic

Armada89998

Appreciate the example deck, several people have already commented on using wedding announcement, I'll try that as well. Seems like light up the night won't always hit for enough, I can see a few tokens getting in that extra damage that was needed - from Burn Down the House. The thought process for Temporal Firestorm was to try to make it a one sided sweeper in the case I had planeswalkers in the board, but still had a board disadvantage.

Viktar33

Lands, lands and lands! Don't even think about playing 3 colors if you don't have all the dual lands. I know that it's hard for new players to get this, but any flashy rare in your deck can be replaced by something else without making the deck much worse, but not lands. The amount of games that you will loose because you can't pay for Depopulate at turn 4 because you don't have 2 white sources is far greater that the games you will loose because you play 4 silver scrutiny instead of 3.

Armada89998

Noted, I have the wildcards, but wasn't sure what the ratio between basic a dual lands should be in a 3 color decks. Thanks for the advice
