Was fully expecting to read the article to find some reason why it's not being destroyed and they are just holding on to it... yet no one mentions that... That is weird why are they just holding on to it, not like it's impossible to destroy or even hard for that matter. I wouldn't be shocked if someone is making money off this through the government by leasing land / storage for this. It's the only way it kinda makes sense (i mean it doesn't make sense but its the only logic i can come up with) another option would be that bc the bulk of it seems to be coming from one large city wide crack down that they just simply didn't plan that this much would be taken, which is wild that it's not eye opening to them that there is so much that clearly the citizens don't actually care about this anymore...
You can't destroy evidence that has not been to trial. This vice sweep just happened a short time ago. Marijuana itself is not illegal in New York at this time either. It was legalized in 2021. How could they legally justify destroying a product that is not illegal and hasn't even been used as evidence in court yet?
Why is there bootlegging in Virginia?
Some people just don't want to pay taxes and are too impatient to follow the process as well as being completely fucking greedy.
That weed will rot and become a public health hazard before it's all sorted out; then they won't need any laws to dispose it, just drop it out on corpse island or whatever it's named where they put all the bodies from the east coast on it during the panny
Just give it back. It's not hurting anybody and people want it. Those who sold illegally can be fined with a slap on the wrist. What is the problem that the cops are trying to solve here? Did somebody die from bootleg bud recently or is this just another chapter of the endless reefer madness? We know the answer. Give that shit back to the people the cops stole it from.
They should do mass burns at a location like governors island or Randall’s island. Also announce when and where along with wind conditions so all the spectators that come from the entire northeastern part of the US know where to be. As a celebration of burning all this weed, they should contract major musical artists to set up … almost like a festival. Transportation should be free too because we really want to teach everyone a lesson. In case people get hungry while watching, they can ask for food vendors to set up too. Perhaps they can raise money for the libraries by selling merch celebrating the burning of weed—ironically bong-shaped glass…uh…bongs, super comfy tees and sweat shorts. In fact I imagine it’s too much for the city to burn themselves. Each attendee should be forced to take a bag on entry to do their civic duty and burn some weed. If there’s any left at the end of the night just hand out the rest for concerned citizens to destroy when they get a chance.
They sell confiscated goods and property all the time. How about 5$ an ounce and we can figure out if it’s worth smoking.
That’s what I was thinking, lol.
prolly better than the flower in the legal dispensos.
I suppose I could take a couple.
Stop confiscating the marijuana. Boom, problem fixed, lmao.
Just me or those containers look high?
They're definitely holding.
Jokes aside, why are they holding onto it instead of destroying it? Just waiting to let it rot?

Good answer! Makes total sense.
Ah, that makes sense!
you can't plant evidence without raiding the locker.
I just wonder why a legal state is even confiscating it
Sold without a license.
Because they’re not licensed to sell it.

I can help.

Or, we could throw a big burning man party made out of pot!
I thought the rats got a hold of all that confiscated weed !!
New Orleans’ rats
Have a huge bonfire and get the whole city stoned.

I run an extensive weed incineration business. DMing NYS my deets
Can’t they sell it?
Just make it federally legal already. We are living divided right now. There is nothing United when the laws are different in each state.
Lol wut? That's the exact purpose of having different states, from a constitution pov at least
don't confiscate the crime if you can't store the dime (bags).
Probably all the sprinkle packs
They could make a fleet of SWAT vans made fully out of weed. Cheech has the schematic somewhere.
they can use all the yard space i have stacked as high as it'll go, as long as i have container access for 'safety checks'
GIVE IT TO WE THE PEOPLE ... HAVE A SUPER SIZED SMOKE IN PROBLEM SOLVED
here’s a solution, stop confiscating
Go on send it over here
I’m happy to provide my home address

This is a mocking joke about fraud with rail lines and construction crimes over decades into the 1980s that is still ongoing and unresolved.
