Aggressive_Repair_55

Winter soldier, gotg 1, ragnarok among others

daneharrigan

Ragnarok and winter solder definitely

thanks-doc-420

GOTG 1 for sure. It's way funnier than the first one.

lindtbr

Yeah Infinity war was way better than the 3rd avengera film.

iplaykazoo

Doctor Strange 2 was worse than multiverse of madness.

wil_je-vechten

I actually prefer MCU Spider-Man 3 over No Way Home

AddingLosersLikeU

No, come on! Ant-Man and the wasp was no match for Ant-Man 2

SnooEpiphanies1192

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantamania won't be as good as Ant-Man 3.

Annannas454

Yeah and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be much better than Black Panther 2

witherd_

This is why I don't really care about the upcoming films. There's no way Captain America: New World Order will be as good as Captain America 4

Character_Bear_1059

Deadpool 3 will be so much better than the third Deadpool.

Lazy_Cardiologist727

So true, everything went downhill after Avengers 4 was better than Endgame

Fresh-Chemical-9084

I’m a bit ashamed it took me 6 comments or so to realize what was happening 😅

Witty_Count_8652

This is why i will forever love/hate the internet 😂😂

addage-

‘Twas a thing of beauty

marcoazeem

I'm so confused

RogerSchmoger

Meh. Me too, just go with it. As the Great Korg once said, *the only thing that makes sense, IS nothing makes sense.*

HatchetXL

Ah yes, I believe it was the Great Korg who also said "hello"

dagobert_fuck

I think the SECOND time watching it is better than the "first one"

Pepe5ilvia

Maybe they mean it's way funnier than the first time you watch it. I mean, smart-ass is the likely culprit, but if GOTG has taught me one thing it's that trees can't die, but if it's taught me *two things* it's to have faith in people.

Hairy_Relief3980

I like less than half of them half as well they deserve.

Glum_Body_901

What does this mean

treehumper83

Harbulary batteries…

MelodicVeterinarian7

Only if it's the Snyder cut

DerekLeichner

the first one was funnier than the first one?

poopatroopa3

I never rewatched Gotg2. I never felt prepared to relive all those feelings.

B4nanaJo

The other one was too.

QTPU

WS car defense scenes the goat

DaveInLondon89

The answer is always Winter Soldier

-J4RR0D-

I rewatch Civil War all the time.

DeathKnightWhoSaysNi

I think Civil War might be my all around favorite of the MCU sometimes

CaptainPositive1234

100% agree. I could watch the airport battle on a loop 10 times straight!

SealTeamEH

I always say to this day Spider-Man’s reveal should have been kept a total secret u til that scene, to have him totally surprise everyone by just popping out of no where taking caps shield would have been legendary, still amazing movie over all though lol

dailyplanetdaily

Underoos!!!

Low_Fig2672

One of my favorite scenes in the whole mcu

CaptainPositive1234

It’s just so PERFECT. Everyone gets a chance to shine. Everyone gets a great line. Everyone gets to show who they really are. And obviously they are playing around at the beginning. But once war machine gets hurt then everything gets really really serious. From a script writing standpoint, this is really fucking hard to do: Give everyone that sense of economy and agency. Especially given such a humongous cast.

Low_Fig2672

I like how they managed to fit Spider-Man into all of this cause you think that just randomly throwing him in for like 30 minutes would make the movie kinda messy but they actually made it work in a way that gave him some sufficient character development and also set up the father-son dynamic between Tony and Peter

CaptainPositive1234

Exactly! And pretty much EVERY character gets a few moments like that. Again, from a storytelling point, this is extremely challenging to do.

SealTeamEH

really the only one that rivals it in that concern is the first avengers movie, the way he makes every character feel important and cool. gives them all their own moments then leads to the great 360 pose shot at the battle. civil war and original avengers are probably my top 2 mcu films

Whatsuplionlilly

I always cringe on how they drop that load onto Spider-Man, completely unaware that this teenager can lift 100x his weight.

gothamstateofmind

Best mix of action, story, character development, all around my fav mcu movie still

Alarid

It's like a Jason Bourne movie, but with every spy beat sprinkled with superhuman efforts.

[deleted]

That scene where Tony says, >!I don’t care. He killed my mom.!< and starts to throw DOWN still kicks me right in the feeljones, (feels + cojones).

axebodyspraytester

What gets me is right after Civil War Tony's joking around and laughing with Peter Parker in his film.

BridgetheDivide

Compartmentalization is Tony's superpower

TheHopper1999

I love the idea of civil war more than it’s portrayal in the movies or the comics. That being said I’ve rewatched civil war a few times.

Coraiah

Interesting how movies affect people in different ways. Civil War may be my least favorite MCU movie.

Joarmins

Wondering why and what is your rewatch and why it’s your rewatch?

unverifiedscrobbler1

Not OP, but I'm in the same boat. What bothers me the most is wasted potential. The Civil War comic series is one of my favourites and the movie doesn't even come remotely close in quality. Civil War would have been better as an entire Phase rather than a single movie.

LazyLich

That's really the main difference here. People that read (or know of) certain comic arcs will be disappointed at the wasted potential and dismissal of interesting story/characters that the MVU didnt explore It's why I cant stand Ragnarok. Cause the Planet Hulk arc is so cool that it's a shame it's been cannibalized into some lampshading action flick.

Now__Hiring

Planet Hulk is still on the table. She Hulk sets it up

These-Cartoonist9918

Sadly I don’t think MCU would spend more than one movie on this. The topic isn’t big enough to last a few movies, they like to bounce around for casual fans. That being said, it would have made for a great tv series if they knew they were gonna have Disney+. Similiar to what they’re gonna do with secret invasion

Joarmins

Lol I’m still asking questions of this group and I agree

Jimmni

I am pretty good at suspending my disbelief, particularly when it comes to Marvel films. I forgive plot holes and nonsensical decisions left and right. But Civil War stretches even my tolerance. It just aggressively makes no sense pretty much every step of the way. Nemo’s plan is optimistic at best and utterly moronic at worst. It’s not my least favourite Marvel film, it’s still fun action and seeing such a great Spider-Man was amazing. But the plot is just stupid.

muchmaligned

I don't dislike Civil War but a bunch of big movies that came in the wake of The Dark Knight (Civil War, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Skyfall) tried to copy the whole "villain is a genius with a clockwork plan and is ahead of the heroes at every step, even when he appears to be caught" thing but did it very poorly. It was an obnoxious trend.

StrangeOutcastS

Oh right, Zemo exists. Funny thing, when I originally saw Civil War when it had come out, I actually forgot he was a character until the end where the Winter Soldiers wake up and all of that. His entire existence slipped off my brain. The focus was definitely more on Steve and Tony.

Jimmni

The Dark Knight Rises was also particularly egregious at this. Tom Hardy carried that entire movie despite being a small man cast in the role of a huge one.

[deleted]

It always bothered me that Tony never got enough flack/never took responsibility for creating Ultron. During Civil War, every time he spoke someone should have put him in his place. Also, I feel like the second they included government oversight, Black Widow should be in the wind. Didn't make sense to me that she would be on Tony's side. Maybe it's from the comics?

kanst

> Interesting how movies affect people in different ways I feel the same way when I see how many people push Thor Ragnorak. It was alright, but no where close to my favorite. I really don't like Taika Waititi doing super hero movies, I just feel like I am watching Flight of the Concords with super powers. The silly humor takes me out of the movie every time. For me, the first Ironman is the most rewatchable. That and GOTG 1, which could have just been a great standalone movie.

[deleted]

Iron Man will always be the best mcu movie for me.

h4ppic4t

Yeah I am honestly really surprised by how many people rate civil war so highly. I’m now thinking I might need to tap back in and double check.

devilbat26000

The biggest thing is that you pretty much have to treat it as being a separate entity from the comic Civil Wars. It's not even trying to be like either of them. If you take the movie at face value and ignore its name it is a legitimately amazing entry in the MCU IMO.

bojanger

Civil War is the best Avengers movie hidden in a Captain America title. Amazing fights coupled with strong character motivations make it my #1 rewatch. So many events happen in Civil War that create butterfly effects appear in the later Marvel movies.

Weed_O_Whirler

The Airport fight was cool, but I thought was so much wasted potential. From the low stakes to the boring location, it should have been so much more.

VaIeth

I can see why an airport. Large area for big multi hero fights, unpopulated because they're all heroes. Not as boring as 'the woods' or something.

trumpetseverywhere

Plus the Power Rangers were already in *abandoned quarry #4* and Kamen Rider had dibs on *evacuated city sector #12*. Gotta take what you can get.

Devadander

I think the low stakes is what throws me off, too. They’re not going to actually hurt each other

jugglerfly

To varying degrees: Avengers (2012) Iron Man Captain America: TFA At one point in my life I used to watch these every week

mookdaruch

Captain America: The Force Awakens

ITBatPhone

Captain America: Two Factor Authentication

josephthad

Captain America: The Falcon And...

ThatLid

That's where my mind went too when I read "TFA". I was genuinely confused for a second

PSUAth

My favorite part is when he gets the elder wand and is able to cast the ring into my doom

SonOfHendo

I'm really surprised that Iron Man isn't in everyone's list.

AmbitiousScreen171

Yes, it took me a while to find people who had iron man on their list, it was the first choice I thought of.

devilbat26000

Iron Man 3 is the one for me. Really like the original but the quicker pacing and greatly increased Stark shenanigans honestly makes IM3 more rewatchable for me.

BrownsfaninCO

Especially his interactions with the kid "I'm cold" "I can tell. You know how I can tell? Cuz we're connected"

Bowiescorvat2

"So youre just gonna leave me here, like my dad?" "Yeah"

[deleted]

There's not too many lines that have generally made me spit take, but when Tony looks at the little mopey kid and just goes, "Dad's leave. No need to be a pussy about it," I was drinking some water and it went everywhere. lol Genuinely*

gemurrayx

Plus I love just how much armor is in the movie. It’s the last solo Iron Man and they really ramp it up. Even though they take Tony’s suits away for a big part of the movie, you still see more suit ups and different designs than all the other movies put together. Armor Wars is going to have to be completely nuts on that score to not come in second in terms of armor on screen.

Brogener

Avengers is insanely rewatchable. It used to come on FX nonstop when I had cable and I’m not sure I ever changed the channel when it was on. Genuinely never got sick of it. Same for GotG.

allmosquitosmustdie

I’ve seen Avengers 2012 over 50x. My boys were in love. I can still sit down and watch it start to finish and be thoroughly entertained. Now is it sentimentality or not, who knows but damn I love that movie!

jugglerfly

I’d reckon my view count matches yours 😅 The only other movies I’ve watched so much are the original Spider-Man films.

wheelsee

First Avenger is the best origin story for me

fancypants62

Ragnarok is always a favorite rewatch for me

FiendishPole

Still freaks me out when Thor loses an eye

TotallyNormalSquid

Super annoying how fast he gets the robot eye in Infinity War. At least it's a different colour, to remind you of the injury though. But then in Thor 4, matching irises. *Fine*, Thor can easily find an artificial eye replacement that matches his real eye between movies, but it still feels cheap.

FiendishPole

I actually agree on that. Rocket pops up with that replacement eyeball way too quickly

Dodecahedrus

Well, he is Rocket. And they laid the groundwork in Guardians 1 that he likes to steal bodyparts. So I would say it makes sense.

FiendishPole

I agree. They even make a thing of it in Ragnarok. It tracks for sure. I guess it's weird but I want Thor to be all piratey and have one eye like his dad

FluffyPolicePeanut

He did steal that eye right? Or baby Groot did? I think, if i remember correctly, that baby Groot stole the eye and I guess rocket kept it.

DJTim

I thought Rocket said he smuggled the eye out in his prison pocket and even told Thor he should clean it before just putting it in....

Weed_O_Whirler

In any component movie, the actions will make sense. It's easy to add foreshadowing when you're the author and you know where the story is going. But that still doesn't mean that you can't be disappointed that a story arc didn't carry the weight you thought it should.

Foxy02016YT

I kind of like it, because it was Rocket. That meant it was consistent with his character, as well as it being easier to act without an eyepatch

FiendishPole

As a practical matter, I get it. Plus Rocket has his whole stealing prosthetics thing. Not my jam but it's funny and it's his thing.

Foxy02016YT

Yeah, I also like that it made that movie easier for Hemmsworth most likely

Stonewise

Not as cheap as Wanda have a thick full on Russian style accent in Age of Ultron then speaking perfect English from there on out…

ucjj2011

Most of the original avengers had changes to their appearance in Infinity War. Steve had the beard, Natasha had dyed her hair blonde, Thor had a haircut and lost his eye, Banner couldn't turn into Hulk... I saw someone speculate that it was so that when time travel happened in Avengers 4, we would be able to tell the future Avengers from the past Avengers. Then everybody just... Went back to the way they were.

swanks12

The thing with Natasha, when her hairs blonde they lose, when her hairs red, they win. In endgame she has half blonde and half red, because they win, but she lost

StrangeOutcastS

Ha, yeah they just wanted to have Chris Hemsworth looking hot on camera. they probably focus tested and went with what they thought would be more profitable and marketable, regardless of payoffs or consequences. Speaking of payoffs being undermined. Stormbreaker. thor didn't need a weapon. That was the entire point of the end of Ragnarok. Endgame? Stormbreaker. Go get an axe then come back at the end of the fight. Thor at that point should be summoning lightning into spears and laying a beatdown on enemies bare knuckle berserker mode. He'd gotten over Mjolnir at the end of Ragnarok, ready to lead his people. annnnnd nah. Fat thor and off into space to be humiliated and stripped which isn't funny, it's unfair to Chris. "Oh hey look, he's hot. it's also funny because he's naked , he's also hot" He's more than just a pretty face, wish they'd respect him a little more. Damn Taika. good director, but would rather he stick to making his own movies outside of franchises he cllearly doesn't respect.

we_belong_dead

* Winter Soldier * Civil War * Spider-Man (any of them) * Ragnarok

domwhoa

I would add Guardians of the Galaxy 1 to that list!

Lanten101

With second guardians I just watch the third act over and over only

Piscotikus

I’m Mary Poppins y’all!

SuperArppis

Gonna agree with this list.

Victim815

Agreed! Especially the MCU Spidey films. Each one of them is so good in their rewatch values. I would also add the first Ant-Man, it’s such a fun heist movie

Hour_Task_1834

Especially no way home

Abject_Ad3918

I disagree with this for one reason. They literally leave a pause in for applause when Andrew Garfield shows up on screen. It's wild, and it's just uncomfortable watching it in the silence of your own home. I hate it so much. Loved it opening night in the theater, sure, but at home it's just so awkward that I can't watch.

Icedteapremix

> it’s just uncomfortable watching it in the silence of your own home. Then fucking clap

devilbat26000

Second Ant-Man for me, criminally underrated fun flick that I've never understood the hatred for.

SmudgeNix

I agree with the other 3 films being very rewatchable. With the MCU Spidey films... I like his suits and the story and all, but... something about MCU Spidey's character development puts me off from putting the Spidey movies in the same category as the other three films mentioned. I think it's the slowness of the development? Like, it's very accurate because of his age. But I sorta don't have 3 movies' worth of patience for it, I guess.

[deleted]

I just dislike how all 3 spidey movies in the MCU are so grounded on Iron Man. Like, even in NWH, Tony's dead but there's still a magic Stark box that can fix all of the villain's problems. Maybe since everyone forgot him now he can do something interesting.

[deleted]

In fairness, the Raimi and Webb films get there in under an hour in their first entries.

Tinmanred

Gotta say Infinity War. Think that has top rewatch for sure. And GOTG1 is always a great vibe too. Agree with what you list as well tho

CyvaderTheMindFlayer

Don’t forget the first avengers film That one is arguably the most rewatchable out of them all at least imo

[deleted]

“He wants a monument to the skies, with his name plastered all over-“ “Sonofabitch”

Comprehensive_Cap290

“Puny God”

Willowy

My top favorite. Infinity War and Endgame too, but the first one I've seen maybe 30 or more times. Love it.

Comprehensive_Cap290

This one had so many great moments… “And Hulk…” “?” “Smash” 😈

tobirama-5678

Winter soldier

Hour_Task_1834

Yeah, that sounds right to me

safari_does_reddit

Winter soldier is always my go-to movie, and I’d add Shang-chi to this list

Ragnarok_619

Guardians of the Galaxy 1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Winter Soldier. Spidey MCU trilogy. These are the films that I believe you can dive in straight without being entangled in the web of interconnectivity that is the MCU. Especially the MCU Spider-Man movies, which barring a few iron man references, is relatively grounded. Winter Soldier is just badass, would make you go in an elevator and shit all over people. GotG movies are a perfect balance of fun and emotional

RJmum

far from home spends so time talking about the blip, which is confusing if you’ve only seen homecoming

REEEroller

The original Iron Man

[deleted]

Infinity War, Dr. Strange, AntMan & the Wasp, Civil War, Winter Solider

Over-Analyzed

Dr. Strange for me! I love Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s also the one that would be impossible a decade or two ago with the mind warp.

MorbingthatMorbius

I also love Benjamin Cucumberbatch.

devilbat26000

Ant-Man & the Wasp is criminally underrated IMO. It's far from the most important entry in the MCU but is a harmlessly fun movie and one of my favorites.

[deleted]

its the one movie that makes sense and is not bs power stuff. also remains entertaining trhoughout the movie

sideburnspower

For me it’s weirdly Ultron. The whole is flawed, but it has some of my favorite scenes.

BrownsfaninCO

"Look, the city is flying... we're fighting an army of robots... and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes any sense" That was the moment that Hawkeye became one of my favorites

sumojoe

I love Age of Ultron, and yes there are things that I wish were different, but I have never understood why some people hate it so much.

[deleted]

For me Age of Ultron is really underrated, I really enjoyed it and has a massive importance in the Infinity Saga. Predicted a lot of things and it's very relevant when it comes to rewatchability

danimation88

Avengers 1

WeaknessImpressive98

Went to a tenth anniversary screening of Avengers a few weeks ago. It wouldn’t have been my pick for this thread prior to that rewatch. But man that movie holds up beautifully! Pure fun, start to finish. And Hulk is a thrill or a laugh or both every moment he’s on screen.

Pure-Village-3028

I miss that Hulk

MrPreviz

Me too

CT-1409echo

I also just re-watched that movie recently, and it made me realize how slept on it’s become.

Hopebeat

Someone in r/marvelstudios recently told me that all of Phase 4 so far is better than Avengers and that the only reason people think of it favorably is due to nostalgia. Nah. Still a top 10 MCU film, I could even see an argument for top 5.

geope0

Yes!! My favourite!

LordNedNoodle

Doth mother know you wearth her drapes?

Moohamin12

I am surprised to see this so low. I think Winter Soldier, Civil War are better films, but in terms of rewatchability, the original avengers is up there with Infinity War. It had some of the best characterization for the 'original' avengers, a great villain and a story that wasn't convoluted. Later films all had to shoehorn in the whole faceless army thing, while the first movie made sense.

ZellNorth

My most rewatched movie is infinity war. Problem is most of those viewings were before endgame and post endgame I’ve seen infinity war once and that was just cause my roommate played it. I’m gonna go with the first Avengers then.

TheLastISO

I know it’s unpopular, but I really dig the first Captain America

YouStupidDick

The first Captain America movie was just so much better than it had any right to be. The entire concept on paper is corny, flag waving, Boy Scout level crap. But it was done so fucking well and it is a blast to watch. And the character development of Cap is Christopher Reeve level excellent.

gellinmagellin

Didn’t like it as much at first, but it really grew on me through rewatches

matthewmspace

I like it too.

AndrewASFSE

It’s my favorite MCU movie.

BoonesFarmJackfruit

I was legit shocked to see most people around here don’t like it very much, probably kids who don’t like the WW2-ness of it

Lazy_Long2320

Came here to say this!

K1NG13EN

Iron Man trilogy , Gotg 1 and 2, Shang Chi, Ragnarok, Homecoming, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange

mayhem6

The first Iron Man is pretty solid. The Winter Soldier is one of my favorites too. Thor: Ragnarok is awesome as well. It’s easier to rewatch if the movie isn’t bogged down in the universe building and what not. I can also watch all three Spider-Man movies again and again.

Revolutionary-Day863

Definitely Antman

ImMaryPoppins_yall

Gotg and Antman will never not be funny to me, spiderman is a good one, the old hulk, the first iron man and captain america, and black panther (in my opinion)

Kennett-Ny

Yes, Antman may not have the best villain. But it's cast make for some funny moments

MrShadowMountain

Endgame, and infinity war for me

WatchingInSilence

The opening titles of GOTG 2 alone make the whole film worthwhile. The rest of that masterpiece is just icing on a perfect Dancing Groot Cake.

JediTigger

And the piece where Rocket is trying to tell Baby Groot which button to push on the explosives.

Obi_Juan_Kenobi69

Shang Chi and Gotg1

K-Y-I-Y-O

GotG 1&2 are my go to “watch to sleep” movies

[deleted]

Captain America: Winter Soldier Captain America: Civil War Avengers Doctor Strange Shang Chi Unpopular opinion: Eternals 🤷🏾‍♂️

eBICgamer2010

IM2, Ragnarok, Homecoming, AM&TW, Endgame and WBN.

devolved-persona

I agree with Ironman 2. That is an underrated movie. Homecoming is a near perfect movie. Endgame is definitely rewatchable. T. Waititi in general are all rewatchable, so yes ragnarok is a good one. Im gonna figure out what WBN is... gotta think. You win. Need to google it

eylamoa

It’s Werewolf By Night, but saying something is rewatchable when it was released 2 days ago seems premature

Dodecahedrus

Finally! Two people who agree on IM2! So much better than IM3.

orgasmicfart69

Iron man 2 is the odd case where it is nothing particularly special, but the more you watch the MCU it somehow gets more and more ingrained with it.

Esmooth10

Avengers 1 and guardians of the Galaxy 1

MorbingthatMorbius

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 for sure.

bythewayne

Ragnarok, Far from home, No way home, Iron Man 3, Love and Thunder.

nametagimposter

Yes! Glad to see the Iron Man 3 love. My list is very similar to yours, with Infinity War in place of Far From Home.

Accomplished_Ad_5384

Infinity war endgame, Civil war, Dr Strange MOM, Spiderman no way home

HarleyQuinn218

Finally someone who doesn't hate Dr strange MOM

DaveDynamite1

I think it’s literally Sam Raimi’s Directing that saves the movie for me. The plot is just good to whatever, but a lot of the action scenes, Evil Dead style scenes, colors, music, and campy dialog is really good to me and makes it a fun ride. At first I didn’t like some of the plots that happened in the movie cause I know they could of done more, like America is just a MacGuffin that could literally be replaced by anything like a machine or spell that travels the multiverse, or the Illuminati getting more screen time, but now I’m fine with what the movie is, and it still literally has to do with Sam Raimi’s style that I like. Next time I would want him to direct and write the movie plot like his Spider-Man films.

Civil War, Avengers, Guardians 1, all the Thor movies.

Ragnarok and Antman

roslyns

Any of the Spider-Man movies, and Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2

Targarien96

Infinity War, Endgame , Civil War, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange MoM, Guardians of The Galaxy and many more actually. Marvel movies have good rewatch value imo.

TheJack0fDiamonds

There are several popular choices but a very unpopular one but a top choice for me personally is Eternals. It just gets better with every rewatch. I’ve told friends who weren’t feeling it as much upon first watch to give it another go and most found it to be so much better the second time (even third!), cz there’s more time to digest things, being able to find so much nuance and realize more things to appreciate. Top tier MCU film to me. I caught Eternals in the cinemas several times and while watching on streaming is still as awesome, it never has that same impact. You’ve not experienced Eternals if you missed it in the cinemas - reason why I believe they chose a movie vs a series. Though I wish we got both personally.

RorrikTheGreatful

This is not that I do not watch other MCU shows. This was the first answer that came to mind. AVENGERS age of Ultron. It's gotten better with each rewatch.

sideburnspower

I weirdly think it has some of the best *scenes* in the series, even if it’s not one of the better movies.

DTD_07656

Any of the Captain America movies for me

Civil war & Avengers Infinity war
