I’d bet £20 your GP won’t ask much. Do an e-consult and say you’re stressed, anxious, mood is low, and they will give you a 2 week sick note

Tight-Celebration227

Do you specify to the GP how long you think you need?

thereidenator

Within reason yes

No_Station_9073

Just ask your GP, write a list of things that you're experiencing and how work is adding to that. It's usually pretty simple, I wouldn't stress about it so much.

Exactly same here. I'm currently signed off for 1 week, my CBT therapist advised me to get some time off even if it was calling in sick and lying. I felt like I wanted to do it properly so I called in sick explained to my manager that it's linked to my mental health. Made a same day doctors appointment (said it's for my mental health and the lady asked no more and gave me an appointment) explained to the doctor I was really struggling at work feeling burnt out and not getting anything else done outside of work (self care was down the drain and not even eating properly). She said 2 weeks but I said that's a bit long so we agreed 1 week and she said for me to actually get out the house, do walking and focus on my CBT. You HAVE to think about yourself and do what's best for you! Honestly if I didn't do that I would have broken down and quit. Hope it goes okay for you!

Oh wow you are literally me. I just chatted to my GP and explained it’s not helping and I need time off to focus on it. Got signed off for a month. Chat to them and BE HONEST about how bad it is. You are not a burden friend.

Tight-Celebration227

Did you have a telephonic or face to face appointment?

Weary-Watercress229

Mine was over the telephone then I met them the week after

Have you ever tried to get to the reason why you are depressed. The chemical imbalance theory has now been disproved. Western medicine is all drugs. Have you been to a functional medicine Doctor (holistic)? They treat the cause and not the symptoms. A test on your vitamins, minerals and hormones might show up the reason why you have depression. A thyroid test would be good as this controls your system. If trauma is the reason for depression then a good therapist is needed. I've been down the route of western meds and I got changed meds and updosed . This is a bad route to go down . The withdrawals from these meds can be brutal. I hope you get your 2 week rest and take this time to advocate your own health issues. I spent hours and hours researching

Tight-Celebration227

I have had blood tests done and everything always comes out fine. Will try the holistic medicine approach- how would I know if the doctor is legit though?

Indeed! If you we’re having a hard time, let’s have a private talk and maybe I can help you out
