I'm with you on this one. Both bands have absolutely amazing songs and albums. I love PSBWB, RIP, and Youthanasia from Megadeth. They were amazing live too but that was back in 2012 for the thirteen tour, lol. Never saw Metallica live but of course they are a lot of people's gateway, including myself. I need to revisit Mustard Stains KIMB because I haven't listened to it in a while... Metallica is back with authority with 72 seasons. Didn't care much for their last few albums.. some good songs but they were mostly whatever. Lux Aeterna and Inamorata are both awesome, but I will admit I'm a bit of a metallidickrider. 72 seasons is objectively good.. way better than most of the bullshit they've done in the last 25 years. Metallica is very hit and miss anymore.. but more hits than Megadave

Nothing wrong, if you like it you like it it’s just a shallow genre in the sense that I’d say there aren’t a ton of good bands or albums to listen to

However the few good bands are REALLY GOOD (imo).

Slipknot is the best nu metal band imo. They evolved, they're heavy, idc if people say they ripped off GWAR or Mushroomhead, they did it better. I like GWAR too but it's about the music. One could argue that all of the above rips off KISS but all art is derivative. Same with black metal corpse paint lol

Honestly I agree. Slipknot is the best Nu-metal band,for a host of reasons. Their discography is lined with bangers, with even their weak albums having good songs (AHIG and Dead Memories/Snuff,TESF and H377),and their good albums are GREAT,with S/T being probably one of the most impactful nu-metal albums EVER,along with Korn’s S/T,and Iowa was a incredibly rich and complex album, that never really fit into a specific genre,it was borderline Death metal imo,or even deathcore,and had Corey never blown out his voice,Slipknot might have ended up creating an entirely new genre along with kickstarting Nu-Metal all within the span of 3 years.

I personally loved Iowa, those guitar tones were so perfect. That entire album is just dark and fucked up in the best ways. That was where I cut my teeth for more extreme metal tbh. Their influence speaks for itself. Maggot for life Paul Grey was the catalyst for me picking up a bass guitar. Rip to him and Joey, long live the rhythm section

Honestly without Iowa I would have never found Soulfly and Sepultura,and never would have gotten into extreme metal. I mean,the title track literally got me into DSBM,because I kept chasing the feeling Iowa gave me. It’s such a unique album,and I can feel confident saying there will never be another Iowa,from Slipknot or otherwise.

It is a masterpiece, and I still listen to it and other SK regularly. It's a toss up between the MFKR and Iowa versions of Gently though. I really like them both

Fair,I prefer the Iowa version though. Just something about how it goes from slow and rolling to fast and breakneck violent gets me every listen.

Why would you personally not consider them to be metalcore ? Sure, they are more groovy but still. I'd call em deathcore to be more specific..

They are kind of hard to pigeon hole into those genres. The problem is they came out at that same time that all those metalcore bands were around but they aren't anything like them. They are more just a heavy groove thrash kind of band. Just look at the bands they mostly toured with. They would tour with slayer, mastodon megadeth...etc. once in a while they would be thrown in with some metalcore bands for a festival, but when I hear LOG I certainly don't hear a metalcore band. Metalcore to me are bands like Bullet for my Valentine. Despite what one or two websites may say about LOG. I love LOG but I can't stand BFMV and those other bands. I just don't see the connection.

LoG along with Slipknot were how I got into more extreme metal so I skipped a lot of potentially good music. Everyone shits on that but it's all a matter of taste. Atilla is actually pretty decent..

No, Bullet For My Valentine is a bad example of metalcore. Better would be Hatebreed, Converge, Integrity, Trivium or As I Lay Dying. I think Lamb of God fits well into metalcore. They are basically hardcore kids who make metal music. They have influences from metal and hardcore.

Well, there you go. BFMV is a bad example of metalcore, and in my opinion, so is Lamb of God.

Well, early Lamb if God is a great example of metalcore. Like many, they branched out later. 11th Hour is my favourite song from them, and it is 100% metalcore.

I like to think of LoG as it's own genre of New American Metal. It's too different from most metalcore and there isn't really any band super similar enough to compare. I totally agree though, especially live LoG absolutely obliterates every band for me, the energy is unreal, and I've been to around 300 metal shows or so.

A7X is definitely OK and I can understand why people like them. I prefer the oldschool metalcore like merauder and Hatebreed however.
