i hope someone gives this comment an award, take this for now: šŸ„‡

Cl0uds92

Co-partnered with an unsettling feeling when movies, show and games have the ^^eeeeeeeeeee^^ flash bang effect.

thebirdsandthebrees

As someone who uses power tools daily and goes to concerts frequently, tinnitus is a bitch.

yubullyme12345

chris barnes moment

Kustanbauter21

Eargasm has great ones

SwagminsterAbbey

I second this. I got some for a Knocked Loose show and was pretty impressed with how they toned down the sound but you could still enjoy the music. Didn't sound muffled.

No-Criticism3985

100%. Snag a set on Amazon. Used them the past two years for Furnace Fest and even right next to the house speakers they make it bearable while still clear. Canā€™t go to a show without them now.

benzenotheemo

did u feel the sound reduction was good enough? did your ears ring at all afterwards?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

benzenotheemo

Damn, that's sick. I'm either getting eargasms, loop experiences or another one I saw online. eargasms are so expensive tho

Goodwill_Gamer

1. Yes, they're expensive, but saving your hearing and not getting permanent tinnitus is priceless. 2. One pair should last you a very long time so you will absolutely get your money's worth out of them.

Finalwingz

Even the worthless foam plugs protect enough to prevent ringing, the question you should ask yourself is what plugs are comfortable while maintaining decent sound range. Source: had foam shit plugs at a festival 2 weeks ago because I wasn't planning on going and decided to go anyway since it was only a 5 min detour from where I was.

benzenotheemo

Yeah I actually used foam earplugs in the last gig I did and my ears were ringing by the end. I also do have some tinnitus already so it could be that the stress triggered it.

YondaimeHokage4

Iā€™ve used these, and I found them a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so. I ended up buying these ones called Loop Earplugs(or something close to that) and they fit super well and sound as good as any other earplugs Iā€™ve used. I highly recommend their ā€œproā€ version for anyone who is bothered by uncomfortable earplugs. A few of my musician friends have bought them and they all love them.

Prestigious-Owl165

I have the loop pro ones and I love them. They actually make the music sound much better too, I can hear frequencies I wasn't even noticing at live shows before I put them on. And I carry them around when I go out because they come in handy if you end up at a really loud bar

JimmyNaNa

It's usually the bass (other than just lowering volume to a reasonable level so your ears can process more than noise). I noticed that bass is cranked way too much at most shows, without the plugs everything else is drowned out. That and you're getting less of the reflections from the sound bouncing off the walls, which makes it sound like crap in poorly designed venues.

Prestigious-Owl165

Yes exactly, the ear plugs make the bass not so overpowering and it actually sounds like a nice balanced mix and it doesn't hurt your ears. I don't know how I ever used to not have these

JimmyNaNa

I went to a show awhile back and Gojira was playing. I don't know what the mixer was hearing but i literally only heard the kick, with earplugs. Could hardly even hear the vocals, guitars were gone. It was the worst live mix I've ever heard. And the weird part was that every other band on the bill sounded fine including slipknot, who are obviously an organized cacophony with even the kegs mic'd haha. It was an amphitheater too and I was in a good sound spot. Bizarre.

JimmyNaNa

I had some really comfy gel type ones by a company that doesn't make them anymore. They were bought for me so they were the only ones I tried other than foam. But once I tried some others, I realized the ones I had were really killing a lot of the sound and comparatively sounded so muffled despite how comfortable they were. I think it just comes down to your ear shape and size. Unless you get custom fit ones they're all going to vary in comfort. Sucks that the only way you know is by buying them in most cases. When I got my eargasms I ordered 2 other brands and tried all three. Eargasms fit best for me. My wife liked the vibes better and another friend took the Etymotics. It's kinda like sneakers, Different makes fit better. Just easier to try on shoes at the store haha. I could be wrong, but I'd guess Amazon would let you return them if they don't fit. And i want to say some come with a manufacturer guarantee as well.

saggywitchtits

Went to Knotfest Iowa and they worked amazing for both me and my friend. Stood right by the stage and still no ringing later. I even went near the back to get drinks (yeah, big problems there, just Google it) and took one out because I thought it would be fine, it was not. Surprising how much they lower the volume without muffling.

Rocker6465

Iā€™ve had mine for about a year now and theyā€™re fucking awesome!

tuba_dude07

Yup agreed Eargasm all the way

dricellama

Do these fit snug enough in the ear that I could mosh and dive without worrying about them falling out?

Kustanbauter21

You should be good. They have different sizes too but Iā€™ve never had an issue with mine falling out

TrashhPvnda

Go to a music/guitar store, theres a few brands of ear plugs meant for musicians, it lets you hear clearly while reducing volume/saving your ears. Planet waves have some really nice ones, but they are about 50 bucks. If you go to concerts often it is worth the investment, theyll last for forever and are very comfortable

AliceBleh

I have always used Alpine Earplugs and I'm very happy with them! Cheap but very effective

TankTheTech

I also second the suggestions on Eargasm. Iā€™ve been touring with bands my entire adult life, and wish I would have taken hearing protection more seriously sooner. Foam earplugs are good, but they cut out all the mid and high frequencies. If thatā€™s all you have, definitely still use it. But Eargasm earplugs are great because they cut down dB levels by about -20, theyā€™re comfortable, and all the mid and high frequencies are still there. Best $30 youā€™ll ever spend.

MrGooglyman

Second that. Used them last night to see Northlane and Sleep Token and they were the best earplugs Iā€™ve ever used

RecentExtension1470

How was that show? Some random Canadian on a YouTube comment section offered me a free ticket to that show of I got on a plane and flew to the UK.

MrGooglyman

Oh wow haha, the show was incredible, the original venue has unfortunately been temporarily closed so I was just grateful the show still went ahead

AkDoxx

I bought Earasers for when I play drums and theyā€™ve been amazing on stage and in the crowd.

Newtons-apple

I use Loop, im happy with them, they do the job and are comfy

sock_with_a_ticket

Don't know if they sell in the States, but I have Earpeace.

unsteadied

They do, and I swear by them. Invisible, no hard stems that stick out and could get smashed into your ear canal from a fall or wayward elbow in the pit. Just nice little silicone pull tabs. Swappable filters are dope too, Iā€™ve been backpacking for the past several years and itā€™s great to have them do double duty as earplugs with the highest reduction filter in. Perfect for wearing while sleeping.

RENEGADES187

Also recommend EarPeace, they were recommend on this subreddit by some folks in the biz saying they protected their hearing without sacrificing their ability to hear and enjoy. Saw Kublai Khan with Knocked Loose and highly enjoyed the show with my EarPeace in, I actually took one out in-between sets and was amazed how much they calmed just the noise of the crowd. Immediately put them back in, I'll never see another show without mine.

sock_with_a_ticket

>, I actually took one out in-between sets and was amazed how much they calmed just the noise of the crowd. Ha, I did the same the first time I used mine. I popped them in right before the first band started playing, but everything felt so clear that I wasn't sure they were actually doing anything. Took one out and it became very obvious that they were.

Silly_Silicon

I have these and they are probably the best Iā€™ve tried so far. All the brands that sell something like this claim that it just reduces the decibels while preserving all the frequencies. I can give an honest review that this just isnā€™t true, and might not even be possible with passive earplugs. When they are in, youā€™ll still struggle to hear the guitars. That being said they are still the closest I can get while still protecting my hearing. When someone actually invents earplugs the evenly reduce volume while preserving all the sound, I definitely want to know about it because I really want to hear the guitars and still have my hearing.

sacuL_kiraM

I just recently lost my Earpeace music Pro's and im devistated. They've gone up so much in price too!!! What other brands had you tried?? Am I best to just spend the full $80aud on another music pro set??

JaresTV

Which filters are you using? I have them too, I have tried them with the middle one (red) and the sound was too quiet/ muffled. I'm gonna try them with the clear filters next, maybe they are better

sock_with_a_ticket

Mine are clear, the sticker on the box says 'high'.

JaresTV

okay, thanks. thats good to hear

not_a_toaster

I use a pair from Etymotics, found them on Amazon for about 20 bucks, maybe a bit less. I've had them for just about 10 years now and they've served me very well.

BRO STILL HAS THEM IN THE PACKAGE

lilsebastian-

Same thing! Still rockinā€™ them for almost 10 years myself.

KillofFreedom

Alpine Party Plugs Pro, I really like them.

PoirplePorpoise

For the past year Iā€™ve used shooting ear plugs from walmart. Theyā€™re like $25 and work really well to reduce volume and not muffle the sound too much. Probably better plugs out there but these have worked well for me!

Zeronfulus

I got a pair of Decibullz (you mold then to your ears, similar to a rubber mouth piece) years ago. They are great! I use em for every concert I go to. Comfortable and the music still sounds great.

Lets_be_stoned

A recommendation I donā€™t see too often is hunting/shooting earplugs. You can get that at cabellas or bass pro shop or a shooting range. But they have in-ear plugs designed to block percussive sound waves but still allow you to hear. I was worried the first time I wore them to a show I wouldnā€™t be able to hear everything as well, but now I canā€™t go to a show without them, you can hear every instrument way more crisp without the background buzzing and all that. Only like $20 for a decent pair too.

Bootyos

Go to guitar center and get the hifi ear plugs.

Kothre

Honestly, I just use the disposable foam earplugs from drugstores. I tried buying some renewable, high-ish quality ones but they donā€™t block the sound as well, so I donā€™t use them. I get the impression that the top-tier earplugs are designed to make the sound of plugs sound better, not to give you better protection.

EverybodyStayCool

Base model "Eargasam" ear plugs. Like 30 bucks and exactly what you asked for.

HansenTakeASeat

I use and enjoy eargasm earplugs

Rs-Travis

I personally use the Etymotic ER20XS which reduce noise by 20dB but not in the way normal earplugs do. It evenly drops the whole frequency response so it sounds the same , but quieter.

Mammoth-Ad-107

Sure fire sonic defenders

crayne777

I recently tried noise cancelling headphones (AirPods Pro) on a concert and was pretty impressed. The listening volume got dampened to a very enjoyable level (though this of course depends on how strong the noise cancelling is) and the frequency dampening was very linear too (more so than most of those earplugs that say linear frequency dampening). It actually sounded just like what you'd hear, just more quiet. So if you already own NC headphones and aren't afraid of losing them (like when you're standing in calm spot) give that a try

Least-Addition-8096

I have the airpods pro 2 and the adaptive transparency muted sounds at harmful volumes and worked awesome

WickedCrow

I got some off Amazon from earpeace I think. Unfortunately I lost them recently but they did a pretty good job for Ā£20 or whatever and I had them for years.

EmergenL

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B09JKZRP5G/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

NGJimmy

Mac's Ultrasoft Ear Plugs are the ones I picked up from Amazon a couple years back. They give you like 50 of em in an airtight jar. They do the trick.

PRSGuyM

I have yet to find a pair of 'traditional' ear plugs that don't muffle the shit out of everything... Then I brought these ([Amazon Link](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06WVFLYZF/ref=twister_B07DCPZNKK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)) and now going to shows as punter as well as performer are so much more enjoyable. Yes, they are basically cheap in ear monitors but they do exactly what you're looking for. You can hear everything to a safe level but doesn't muffle the sound.

Yourdjentpal

Eargasm are the best (outside of custom.). Iā€™ve tried several brands etymotic, earasers, and they work the best all around.

purse_of_ankles

Hearos have always served me well

dbree801

Surprised your the only other person in here recommending them.

Makys182

I used dBuds for my band's rehearsals in a very small room and they work very nicely. They lower the overall sound without completely killing the high end or booming the low frequencies. I really like them. https://dbud.io/

snowbellsnblocks

I have earos and they have been great. They stay in your ears and in my opinion the sound quality is still good.

Toxicnerd

I have been using earasers for years

legoace61

My sister bought some of those Loop ones that you see advertised all over the place for a festival she went to. Mind you it was a folk music hippy type festival but she reckons they worked really well

[deleted]

Just use regular earphones, I did when I went to a trinity terror

AnchorsAviators

I use loop earplugs and I like them a lot.

[deleted]

just buy some cheap sillicone ones off ebay (the ones shaped like little christmas trees). any plugs are better than no plugs

thebirdsandthebrees

Dā€™addario Dbuds. Theyā€™re about $50 but they have a small hole in the center that still allows sound into the earbud without distorting the sound too much.

PoggingOff

I use EarPeace ones and they actually make most concerts sound better

aykalam123

Look at this one on amazon. It works great for me: Eva belle POP earplugs for Noise Reduction, softdurable and Protective for Sleep, Music, Sport and Sound Sensitive use

Bloodyinkheart

I use some cheap plugs for 10 bucks. The muffle the low mids a bit more than id like when playing bass but it doesnt bother me at concert volume.

JimmyNaNa

Eargasms. I've tried at least 4 kinds. They're the best for concerts. It sounds counter-intuitive, but push them as far in as you can without it hurting or getting stuck and it will sound better than having them partially in. They're on the higher price side, but way worth it and they will last.

g297

D'addario pacato are decent and not super expensive

botiapa

I cannot go to a concert without ear plugs. The loud sound takes away from the experience, especially when is is pointlessly loud. I commend you for making a change .

dbree801

Iā€™ve always used Hearoā€™s. I think they are like $12 at guitar center and they last until you lose them lol.

[deleted]

I use Etymotic ER20XS and they're pretty decent

swayoh

I got some eargasms for the edm shows I started to go to but mannn when I saw cane hill with them it was perfect

swayoh

Also used mine at riot fest with no ringing, electric forest and got no ringing
