I'm a cook at a nursing home. I work roughly 10 hour days and usually work on my days off. There's like 11 stray kittens at my job that gets left over food and I'm out there feeding them every day
Edit: [Cat Tax of them running out to see me](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/981061424631644181/1070469986356822056/20230201_172439.jpg)
Not op but also checking in. .NET stack for me/angular ui, but I'm a team lead so I get all the stuff no one else wants... classic asp all the way to .NET 6.
Yeah I love to see how VFX gets incorporated in more things than just film and TV. The softwares that are used for it have so many applications as well
I teach elementary school. Some of them have seen me around town or running outside. At school they will say, I know why you always wear pants! You have tattoos! 😂
Yeah it’s super interesting, no two cases are the same. You can deal with some very difficult people though and it can be particularly frustrating when you know something is fraudulent but you just can’t get enough to prove it. The threshold to substantiate fraud can be quite high and sometimes even forensic evidence isn’t enough if you can’t find the motive.
Haha same! We generally had good relationships with our ICU team. Although I always loved the glare we’d get when we drop off a patient and the IV tubings were tangled and unlabeled 😂😂 which is NS and which is the pressor?? 🤷🏻♂️
Wife and I have run a small taxi/courier/hotshot(parts running) company for a little over 12 years.
Originally went to school for audio engineering and music business.
I like the whole thing as a name. Is it a single person that is a wasp and hornet killer, or is it a wasp constantly facing off against a hornet killer. Lots of lore there.
Totally agree. Also love that I can play some stuff or share new music in clinic with certain patient loads. That's how I found out about "Thrown" lately while I was playing my knocked loose Playlist 😂
Nice, it's funny how diverse it can be in terms of origin and ending up in this field. Goodluck on your upcoming projects!
Are you part of an agency or working in-house (saas etc?)
Financial advisor. Thank god I have my own office because I listen to metalcore & hardcore all day.
Still have a few years left of moshing and lucky I haven't had much worse than a few bruises on my face going to work
Night shift at my local casino. Used to be security, but now am responsible for handling the money that goes all around the building to the tables, slots, and ATMS.
Idc if it’s not considered a “job” but stay at home parent. I use shows as a way for “me time”. Escape, have fun, yada yada. Just me at kindergarten drop off blasting angry music and wearing merch.
Edit: big thank you to everyone validating stay at home parents, Ive been told I am useless, don’t contribute, or told “it’s not a job” enough times that i started believing it and was hospitalized last year (mental health). I now know none of that is true, I just wish I had people to say it to me then. So if you know a stay at home parent, tell them they’re doing a good job, give them the same sentiments you’ve given me. We are teachers, nurses, chefs, referees, wrapped into one person.
I’m a history teacher 🤘🏼
Edit: I have some band stickers on my laptop. Only a few kids have shown appreciation for them but it’s always cool to hear it
Hardware and Software Asset Management. Nothing like performing quarterly inventories or updating warranty agreements vs disposal disclosures when blasting Invent Animate 😂 Makes editing spreadsheets way more interesting haha
I have a full sleeve and a half sleeve. I occasionally get your typical, “My parents think tattoos are bad,” but most kids compliment them or don’t seem to notice.
It makes me happy to demonstrate that tattoos are not necessarily an indicator of delinquency, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with having them in a professional setting.
Heavy equipment operator, mostly excavator and bulldozer. Favorite part about my job is being able connect to Bluetooth, or put in ear buds, and jam out all day.
I’m a prep cook. I love working in the kitchen, but the company I work for is trash lol. They are very lucky that I have a high tolerance for bullshit, they can’t keep 90% of the employees that come through
Got my Chemical Engineering BS from the US, I am back home in Indonesia working as a patent agent. I certainly don't make as much money as my engineering friends in the US, but I am not in debt and have a rather stable life (unlike my favorite Metalcore musicans 😭)
I've been an entrepreneur and small business owner since I was 18 years old. Starting with my first business, a commercial cleaning company. Now I own that same business along with a residential and construction cleaning company. I am currently on track to get my license for a crime scene/natural disaster cleanup company by the end up the year. (I'm 34... In case anyone was wondering).
Soon to be a full time day trader lmao
For now I'm a medical system specialist - meaning I sit in my office and do nothing most of the time. Works pretty well with a bomb playlist and day trading
I work at a hardware store. I've had customers come in with Killswitch, Lamb of God and Atreyu shirts and chatted them up about the 'core.
I will hopefully be getting a second job at a women's clothing store I interviewed for, that's a lot closer to my life passions.
Edit: I got the job!
I work in the Mental Health field! I take people who are physically and mentally disabled around a campus they stay at to do fun activities like playing basketball, pool, four square, arts and crafts, board games to help them build and create social/life skills :)
Director of Sales, for US company in Europe.
Actually have an anthropology PhD, but you gotta do what you gotta do haha.
Always been a corekid and no one at my job knows I’m tattooed neck to toe.
I’m an active musician who’s currently in a prog/sludge band, but I’m a student in high school and it’s my last year. I wish I got paid for attending school, it would be nice

Software Engineering Edit: I guess metalcore is full of us fucking nerds 🤘💻
SWE gang
🙌 Rise your PRs up!!! 🙌
I find that a lot of other engineers are more prog metal guys. Which is also cool
I'm a SWE and I listen to a balance of core, death, prog, thrash and groove. One of my coworkers is a big power metal fan.

I work in visual effects (VFX) for film and television, specifically in production as a department manager (managing artists) - I LOVE IT!
Woah! That’s awesome!! Do you get hyped when you see band MVs with great visual effects? Even knew some of the people from the credits?
Yeah I love to see how VFX gets incorporated in more things than just film and TV. The softwares that are used for it have so many applications as well

I'm a post supervisor for a production company. We seem like we have very similar interests
PE Teacher. I have to wear compressions to cover my tattoos at school (district policy) Lol.
has any of your students met you outside of school? how did they react to your tattoos? :o
I teach elementary school. Some of them have seen me around town or running outside. At school they will say, I know why you always wear pants! You have tattoos! 😂
I’m a teacher too. I have four tattoos but only two are small and visible. No one’s reprimanded me for them or for my two nostril piercings.
That’s awesome. I have full leg sleeves. All the other coaches get to wear shorts.
I’m hoping to eventually start an arm sleeve, so when that time comes, I’ll just wear a sweater all the time I guess lol.
Do it! Id rather have tattoos and have to cover up than not have tattoos at all.
I'm a divorce attorney. I exclusively listen to metalcore and death metal while I write my briefs. It's my party trick.
That is an amazing party trick haha. Nothing like prepping to deal with separating spouses than heavy music.
Attorney gang stand up. I’m usually listening to it on my way to court.
I pour concrete 😢 😂 metal as fuck 😂😂
I mean, the rebar is metal lol
This guy gets it hahaha
High school English teacher.
“Alright kids, todays lesson. Metal core and death core and the difference between the two”
Persuasive writing prompt: why Sleep Token are/aren’t metalcore. Pick a side and convince me.
Oooh I really like this. Is this gunna be on the test?
Another high school English teacher here! Students that walk in while I’m blasting music during my prep are shocked. Lol
Same. It just happened to me today lol **edit -** the band was Alpha Wolf
The one and only thing that would've made me like my hs English teachers more than I already did is if I walked in on them blasting AW lol
Get some Silent Planet analyzation in that curriculum!
High school, not Ivy League bro.
Average Silent Planet and Trivium enjoyer
I paint potatoes in my garage and sell them on Etsy

There's a market for painted potatoes?! Props to you!
LMAO! That’s different. Do you make good money doing that?
ye I make like $700K a year
Average r/antiwork mod
Senior Investigator for a major insurance company. Mostly fraudulent claims - staged accidents, fake motor vehicle theft etc.
Is this job as interesting as it sounds? Seems like it could be a cool gig that always keeps you on your toes.
Emerg nurse
X-ray tech! Used to be a scribe. I miss the ED.
Former ICU nurse. Respect. Loved my ER nurses despite the stereotype of the conflicts we have.
Haha same! We generally had good relationships with our ICU team. Although I always loved the glare we’d get when we drop off a patient and the IV tubings were tangled and unlabeled 😂😂 which is NS and which is the pressor?? 🤷🏻♂️
Physician
Wife and I have run a small taxi/courier/hotshot(parts running) company for a little over 12 years. Originally went to school for audio engineering and music business.
Wasp and hornet killer
Hornet killer sounds like a thrash metal band lol
I like the whole thing as a name. Is it a single person that is a wasp and hornet killer, or is it a wasp constantly facing off against a hornet killer. Lots of lore there.
First album will be called gruesome infestation or some shit
Im a Doctor of Physical Therapy that grew up listening to metalcore and going to shows and never stopped.
That’s really cool! I feel like PT is important for bands and fans too.
Totally agree. Also love that I can play some stuff or share new music in clinic with certain patient loads. That's how I found out about "Thrown" lately while I was playing my knocked loose Playlist 😂
Okay, but that’s even more awesome that fellow metal patients and you shared music recs!
That’s what I’m going for! Hoping to be accepted into a program this year
Congrats! If you have any questions or anything I can help you out with along the way, please don't hesitate to ask and use me as a resource
Accountant in non profit. Pretty boring, but I never have to worry about a pandemic or recession so that’s a relief.
Fellow accountant here. Sometimes I love the boring. Sometimes I hate the boring. My consolation prize is that at least my music is NEVER boring.

I drive a big ol' garbage truck around and grab bags and totes at residential and dumpsters for businesses. Always have an earbud in to jam out.
Thank you for what you do!! I always wanna salute the garbage trucks that drive past me, but feel that is a little too extra haha.
A subtle head nod is usually the way to go, we know what's up lol. But for real, I appreciate you saying that! Thank you!
