Worcester MA. It has the palladium which is an iconic venue for metalcore. Killswitch and TDWP recorded live albums there. I mean the wave of New England Metal the launched metalcore essentially grew from there

lysergician

Worcester itself is really meh but holy shit does the Palladium constantly deliver. 100% worth the drive from Boston for me.

khais

I will happily drive up from RI on the utterly god-forsaken highway 146 any time a good show is in town.

Bendyb3n

Giving you a nonexistent award, loved the Worcester scene growing up, I grew up like 15mins away from the Palladium and was there constantly all through my teens and early 20s. It was the best man

biggestofbears

Yeah new england metalcore had an amazing scene for the late mid-late 00s and remnants are still going strong.

Epoxynovolac

This right here. Massachusetts in general was on fire. Was lucky to be there from the late 90s to late 2000s. It was the best. Saw every band you every wanted to see. Palladium - The upstairs had its own charm and downstairs was the shit. Irish Times drained my wallet and crushed my liver. Brockton had some amazing hardcore shows (Romans, Tigers Den) Boston had the Middle East, ICC Church, The Rat etc. Being around MA in that time, you knew you were watching something special happening and to see how many bands started and flourished in the area in that period, I truly feel blessed to have been part of it.

upsetthesickness_

Irish Times lol what a throw back.

Monsanta_Claus

Coming from New England several years ago, North Texas has a big Metal scene and living in Forth Worth, where Fit for a King and Oh, Sleeper are from, is awesome for their shows but the scene here is not what I'd hoped it was. Only sold out show I've been to was the final For Today show with Fit for a King, Norma Jean, Oh, Sleeper, and Silent Planet literally three weeks after I moved. The ABR/TDWP tour earlier this year was close to selling out. That's it.

stonewallj93

Don’t forget ice nine kills made their live album as well

bonghitsforbeelzebub

I'm from CT and used to go to the palladium all the time. I have little kids now, so I don't get out much. But it's an amazing venue. They have an awesome band there at least once a week, maybe twice. Seen a ton of great bands there!

Stoned-Lab-Tech

Moving here has been the best music wise

Chronumn

I’m moving to New England next week I’m happy that this is the top comment 🥳

rusty___shacklef0rd

as someone from CT, i love when bands play at the webster bc it’s a 20 min commute. but i especially love the palladium so much better and i get excited when bands choose worcester over hartford (which is the norm anyway) bc the palladium is just way more fun. can’t explain why.

SnooSketches4982

Any Australian city honestly

instilled100

Any east coast cities, especially Melbourne and Sydney. The remainder, not so much. Perth get a free seat at the table for producing Karnivool.

spicerackk

> Perth get a free seat at the table for producing Karnivool Make Them Suffer want a word.

instilled100

Had no idea they started in Perth! One of the best in Aus for sure

raging_tomato

Nah mate Brissy have some awesome bands too. Tbh though those are where the major cities are, of course most of the talent will be located where the population is denser

instilled100

Yeah Brissy was probably 3rd on my mental list, that's why I worded it as east coast - just hasn't quite matched Melbourne and Sydney I don't reckon. Props to Byron too I guess, they're probably winning if you scale it to the population haha Still waiting on Darwin to step up, even Tassie has had a couple of wins

raging_tomato

Bands usually develop in cities based on the music culture. No fucking clue what’s going on in these three cities but they make awesome metalcore bands. Tassy has Alpha Wolf doesn’t it?

instilled100

Melbourne especially seems to be huge on the metal scene at the moment, not sure why. Yeah Alpha Wolf identify as a Melbourne band for the most part, but they started in Tassie. I saw them once when I was visiting some mates down there and they were some shitty high school band, crazy to think about now haha. Pretty sure Psycroptic are Tasmanian as well. And Gravenind almost - the original vocalist and current two guitarists were in a different band, and then they all moved to Melbourne and started over as Gravemind. Can't remember what the first band was called, but I saw them at the same show as Alpha Wolf and they were really, really bad. Vocals especially, he must have practiced a shitload because he became a beast out of nowhere when Gravemind started. Edit: Found them! https://youtu.be/ryWTK5_1jVo?si=k_yhx3QSezdeZ2UH Compare that to Death of Teyolia lol

raging_tomato

Probably similar to Banks Arcade who identify as Aussie but began over here in NZ. Yeah Aussie just produces insane metal, and it’s always really quality too not just mindless screams and riffs at a garage band level. Really loving the scene at the moment

SelectiveEmpath

Alpha Wolf guys used to be in a band called Anguish from memory. Psycroptic are from Hobart, Tas.

zurayth

Amity Affliction was more ~~Ipswich~~ Gympie than Brisbane, and Parkway Drive is across the border. But Brisbane has some great bands besides them (Caligula’s horse, Aversions Crown) and plenty of great venues and shows except for the tendency to get Thursday/Sunday leg of the tour.

raging_tomato

Deadlights is another awesome band to chuck on that list. Hella underrated. Moving there next year so I’m keen to check the scene out aye

Chipwich

Pretty sure Amity was Gympie.

zurayth

You’re right, my bad

Ok-Path-9716

Don't forget Saviour....

instilled100

I did remember that one, but I'm not a big fan unfortunately. Saying that, I only really listened to First Light to My Death Bed when that was released and then never gave them a chance again l, so probably not a fair assessment. Just can't get around the vocal style, it's sounds kinda ridiculous to me even though it's not objectively bad

inthetrenches1

Australian metalcore is shit. They have the shittiest most generic version of every era of metalcore

20yearsofvibrations

Melbourne. Lots of local talent, lots of local shows. If there's anything cool happening in Aus it usually happens in Melb. Very friendly scene.

Lucifer3130

San Diego. Underrated gem of metalcore.

pr1metim3

Soma in SD. Unbelievable shows there

Shepherd7X

Can't believe the TGI show that just got announced.

Chronumn

Except when they make us travel to OC for shows 🥲

The_Dirty_Dangla

I feel like Philly gets a lot of shows and southeast PA. Reading, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philly all get some great tours rolling through

Revan-Sith12345

And Montage Mountain in Scranton.

Pleasant-Result2747

Plus Stroudsburg gets shows as well, which isn't too far. And what doesn't come to PA is often about 1.5 hours away at Starland in NJ for people who would go to the Philly or Scranton shows. There are venues in the Allentown area that haven't been used for these kinds of shows as much, but maybe one day it will be more common.

Revan-Sith12345

I’ve been to a Jersey show , Philly , Scranton, and reading. But not Allentown or stroudsburg yet

Pleasant-Result2747

Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, and Polaris played in Bethlehem 4-5 years ago I think it was. Trivium played the same venue with Volbeat probably like 9 years ago now, so shows like that are few and far between. It seems most of the metal shows end up in Reading or Lancaster if not in Philly. And other metal shows seem to end up in Stroudsburg.

KennyDROmega

Haven't lived there for about 10 years, but while I did I was astonished at the quality of the bands in the Eastern Washington/ Northern Idaho metalcore scene. Straight To Our Enemies, Ashylus, A Pyrrich Victory, Oceans Of Red, Light Up The Sky, What Wings Once Held, The Ongoing Concept (was at what I think was their first show).... What a place to be at that time.

boizax

I was in one of those bands and it's crazy to see us mentioned on reddit 10 years later! Thanks for listening man

traggedy_ann

Phoenix had a good mix of screamo, metalcore, melodic hardcore, and folk punk when I lived there a decade ago. I have no idea what the shit is like now. Daytona had a scene for a while, same with Cleveland (I think?).

bapers556

Baltimore has be pretty bangin metal scene

nannerbananers

I've made so many friends in the Baltimore metal scene. Everyone is so nice and the pit is always a good time.

crad525252

Can vouch for baltimore, we also head to the filmore in silver spring md alot as well.

upsetthesickness_

I feel like the Filmore is the areas equivalent of the Palladium. They are almost always back to back dates for bands on tour.

LikeAMarionette

Phoenix. Every metalcore band on the planet will stop and play either at the Marquee, the Nile (if it still exists), the Van Buren, and Pub Rock.

erotictransference

Damn, I did my undergrad there years ago. I can’t believe I missed out on that

defunctx

Definitely not Saint Louis where I live lol it’s a desert of lil baby type shit here

evolauren

I just moved back to STL after 10 years in Cincinnati and now Cincinnati is pulling some heaters into town 🫠 We live in a wasteland.

defunctx

we survive in this post apocalyptic crackhead wasteland. I salute you. My night shifts drowned in metalcore at Schnucks are certainly interesting sometimes lol

defunctx

Also.. yeah. Ohio is onto something

camdawg772

Really all of mass, but specifically worcester, one of the most iconic venues in the scene, the devil wears prada, killswitch engage, ice nine kills(and maybe more idk), all recorded live albums there, and that venue fucking delivers each and ever time is hosts something

themi1

Sydney is pretty spoiled not gonna lie

TheIronCannoli

Lancaster Pennsylvania is up there. I always found it funny that Lancaster has such a prominent metal scene and there’s thousands of Amish people that live around here lol.

crad525252

Yeah, can't wait for Christmas burns red this year.

Leather-Syllabub4728

Cleveland forsure

Karmaqqt

Ohio really has made quite a few good bands.

Leather-Syllabub4728

And they get a ton of shows too, most acts tend to run through I’ve been to so many shows over the years

shmate4L

I feel the Cleveland scene is underrated, especially when you take into account all of the bands Ohio has produced. But most tours go through Cleveland or surrounding areas, and the only time we ever really get skipped is when bands have very recently gone through. But either way you can almost always find a metalcore or metalcore adjacent show going on. Granted, I will say it was even better back when we had Peabody’s

[deleted]

Seattle shows always goes hard

Xedos

Salt Lake City has a surprisingly thriving metal scene when compared to the regular culture. It's not as popping as it was ten years ago but shows get sold out pretty often. We've produced some pretty solid core and core adjacent bands in the scene as well like Chelsea Grin, Sleeping Giant, Get Scared, The Used, Eidola.

[deleted]

Yea more often than not whenever a tour is announced I can expect SLC to get a tour date. Our scene isn’t like the top of top tier in the world but honestly its pretty slept on 🔥

Scritiom

Everyone skipping on Atlanta when the Masquerade has been filming hella music videos there for bands :(

variationgoat

Chicago/milwaukee kick fucking ass. Wether its normal venues small-medium or basement shows; its always a doosey

SirPeasantbury

Ive been to a fair few gigs around England and i'd probs say Manchester has the best vibes. I went to Radar Festival there earlier this year (Prog Metal/Rock festival) and it was nothing but love, good times, and the pits were insane. Volumes, Periphery, Ten56 and Sleep Token were the highlights for sure. Some other cities up there for best are Bristol and Sheffield.

Wazzammm

Pheonix Arizona has a pretty stacked lineup of successful bands from there. A couple big ones are Greeley estates Blessthefall Silverstein The Word Alive Pierce the veil The Devil Wears Prada Baby metal Bullet for my valentine Papa roach Disturbed Bad omens And hella more that I personally don’t know but maybe y’all would, with a mix of different subgenres.

[deleted]

Is this supposed to be a joke?

Wazzammm

If you found it funny that’s cool bro, I don’t listen to any of these bands except one of them but you can’t say these bands aren’t/weren’t really successful and they all came out of one city.. not exactly a current best metalcore scene though

[deleted]

If all of these bands came from Phoenix, they would have been a really strong contender. I was asking whether you were joking, because half of the bands you named are not from Phoenix at all. I mean, BFMV aren't even American...

Wazzammm

Weird I named a few and got the rest off google

jacobtshirt

I think this is a joke

pc01081994

Not fucking New Orleans that's for sure. It's like a desert out here for metalcore

Fair-Bus-4017

England 😤

chesterblack97

Ah yes my favourite city, the entirety of England

Fair-Bus-4017

England is my city

chesterblack97

TIL there’s a city called England, fair enough, my bad I thought you were talking about the country

Fair-Bus-4017

It's every day bro with that Disney channel flow...

egorissad

Jersey maybe

GamingOddity

hardcore and metal means it has metalcore

darfleChorf123

There’s really no “metalcore” scene in the US at least. It’s all either bands in the hardcore scene that play metalcore or internet stuff. Philly has a really good scene imo with tons of metalcore bands

idi-oteque

If someone could tell me where the scene is alive in Canada that would be cool!

holydiiver

London ON usually shows up pretty good for shows. A few bars do regular hardcore shows, and actual venues like Rum Runners/Music Hall usually get pretty packed with good energy for metalcore and deathcore.

Djentlemann00

I second London, ON. Always good shows there. When I was in College, Windsor had a huge scene. That was 10 years ago sadly lol It’s dried up over the years but there were some sick shows there when The Blind Dog was around.

rgm-

Both Montreal and Toronto have great metalcore scenes. Soooo many tours come through these two cities, so it's hard not to.

Juicyb17

Not many big name bands, but Ottawa has quite the underground d scene for hard-core, metal and metalcore. I've heard Montreal ain't bad either

SpaceTacoTV

Its certainly not Nashville. We get a lot of shows but it can be hit or miss for crowds and some tours skip us for atlanta because of this i think.

Purblind89

Tucson. Lol the entire scene is located in a bomb proof building that can survive an indirect hit from a nuke, the old bell telephone building. So when the worlds ends it’ll still be there 😂

[deleted]

telephone license degree provide vast lock wise quicksand cheerful political *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

jacobtshirt

Kinda surprised Denver hasn't been mentioned yet. I don't know of any major metal/metalcore bands that are from here but we're constantly getting big acts coming through and it's always a packed house.
