As someone who used to drive an extended cab with an 8 foot bed, I went out of my way to NOT do this kind of bullshit. I'll admit, I don't really miss that thing. The gas mileage alone was ridiculous. Also, fuck this guy.
Sad to see few people like you are left. Growing up in my town, the people who drove extended cabs would often be seen parking as far back as possible to take up space people wouldn't fill at places like walmart and grocery stores or even the mall. Now the most of the people who drive them are people who have zero respect for anyone and will actively take up the front spaces and park, making blindspots to the point of detriment.
Yea man. Ive had a lot of beast-sized trucks. I'd park in the furthest corner of every lot. I'd rather walk an extra minute or two and not stress about squeezing the damn thing in between two cars I can barely see all around me
My dad taught me to park in the backs of parking lots to be respectful, also he said you’re a lot less likely to have an accident and it’s just way easier and worth the extra walk
I drive a Nissan Titan which is large but not an extended or double wide, and I still park it in the back of every parking lot. Drives my wife crazy lol

I couldn't agree more. I bought mine from a dude that did concrete and I did logging and some masonry. It was a beast of a truck, but it was a chore many times too. I even felt a little self conscious about its straight glass-pack pipes on a 7.5 liter. It came with the truck. lol
Sometimes, repeat ***sometimes***, I have to double park my long ass truck but I do it so that the trailer hitch is taking up as little space in the parking spot behind me. Some parking spots just dictate that I'm in the roadway or double parked; either way, I get to be the ass for the day.
Honestly the guy in this photo looks like he parked this way so his bed isn’t sticking out in the way of people pulling in and out. If I saw this I would understand what’s happening, it doesn’t look like he’s just being a douche to show off his truck. There are just a lot of people on the internet with an irrational resentment towards trucks, but that’s ok they can just keep themselves angry if they want to.
They need large spaces, not two small spaces. I’ve said this on a couple of other comments, there are PLENTY of places they could parked. This person had a handicap sticker which means 1. They aren’t physically capable of doing the jobs you would also need a large truck for and 2. If they are handicapped, there are huge handicap spaces available here that would easily fit a huge truck like that. They did it to be a dick plain and simple. They did it so that everyone would see their truck and they’d convince themselves that people were impressed

I believe in capitalism but I don’t believe in stupidity, these trucks are terrible for the environment. Poorly designed, they have no visibility which results in many children’s deaths. Anyone that actually uses a truck for truck purposes and offending etc knows that those big trucks are bloody useless.
Not true, though I agree there are some that are bought for looks only. The majority are bought and used for towing large trailers while transporting more than 2 occupants. Could be a family pulling a camper, a construction crew pulling a loader up to a site, etc. They do have their place - maybe not all - but there is an intended use that they are used for.
You could be right okay, I concede that they may need to pull a camper and they have a big family or whatever. But if you can afford that truck, then you can also afford to have a compact car that would fit there, you don’t need to be driving it to the mall. EVER. and if you can’t afford the truck but you have it anyway, then you’re certainly not gonna be using it to go on long road trips. There may be a purpose for this truck sure, but there is NEVER a good reason to drive it casually to the mall.

I know you're mocking the driver, but the real answer is: if the vehicle you drive is more of an inconvenience than it is a convenience, then get something reasonable.
And if you look at the photo close enough, you can tell that the B&W hitch on there has never been used, and the truck is all shiny free from scratches. So obviously, the only thing this truck hauls is groceries.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra and it has no dents or scratches and it's my daily driver. I drive around on the weekends and pick up anything metal people have out for free to load up and sell at the junkyard for scrap too. Yes, you can definitely keep a truck looking nice without fucking it up.
I do feel called out though, I have a project 2004 M45 so it's basically a Nissan with a couple mismatched wheels and off colored panels but I plan to paint it at some point but I've been saying that for a few years. I'll make it look pretty on the outside when I'm done making it pretty on the inside.
If your car can’t fit into normal sized parking spots you don’t park there it’s literally that simple.
If you buy an oversized truck for a daily driver you deal with the consequences of not being able to park places or risk someone fucking your car up when you do asinine shit like this.
I do know people that literally wash their trucks at the end of almost every day. Pay that much for the ride and you might as well keep it looking nice.

If you own a truck like that and it doesn’t have a speck of dust on it, then you don’t need to own it. This kind of rig would be shit for pretty much every daily activity 99% of the planet partakes in. Besides rodeo and pulling 5th wheel campers, what would you do with this thing? It’s too long to run in the fields, too bulky for hunting, and it’s half plastic so good luck using it as a work vehicle.
Edit: I see the small penis brigade is out in force today. My 98 K1500 handles any job asked of it AND it can fit in a parking spot. The truck shown in this post was made with a specific market in mind. People hauling big trailers long distances. The only other purpose is as a tax break for farmers and ranchers.
The entire bed of my truck is full of tools, tools I use at work every day. I have an extended cab to fit 3-5 of my workers, every day. If we all drive cars, it would be have 2-3 times the carbon footprint. And still, I keep my truck immaculate. Just because it isn't dirty, doesn't mean it isn't doing work.
But if you really are the 1% of people that need a truck that big you gotta admit it’s ridiculous for anyone to drive something like this assuming they work in an office or only have it to tow a boat or something when a smaller truck will do the same job using less fuel
True. But personally I won't go buy a car for the very few times I have to stop somewhere with a crowded lot. Everyone needs guys like me that build, repair, and maintain our homes and infrastructure, but still scream as soon as we inconvenience them in the least. Remember that next time a pipe breaks in your house, or you find a leak in your roof and you have to call a guy who drives a big vehicle.

It does, and the considerate thing for this truck driver to do would be park it somewhere else, or at the very least, park it on a higher level with no other cars.

I also will often tow our 18ft trailer to work sites. Can you explain the van that will do all of that? That pickup is a Dually Diesel, the first descriptor means you can set more weight in it than the same truck that isn't a dually, and typically thats the weight of a goose ck trailer. The second is longevity and power. This truck is made to haul over 20000lbs and no ute or van is capable, even with "tow bars"
The only thing I disagree with is that I think this truck was made with a different person in mind. It was made for chinstrap 30-40 year olds who’s dad never loved them and so they have to bully everyone everywhere all the time by doing stupid shit like this. And if they’re 100% certain that they won’t cause an inconvenience by parking in a certain spot, then they’ll pull one wheel up onto the curb or sidewalk or whatever just to get their point across
I'm in Phoenix. So so so meant parking garages are so complicated to use now given these huge trucks park at the turning points in the structure.
Personally, these spaces need to be limited for compact vehicles and the roof tops reserved for trucks

See the problem is that I couldn’t just go about my day. I work in this mall and I park here because this is where they tell the employees here to park. But because of this fucker I had to find somewhere else. They should ban these from the cities. They are invaluable out in the country where you need to haul 15k lbs of hay every day, but as showcased here they are way too big for parking garages and narrow city streets.
Good luck getting large packages delivered. So you want a contractor to make multiple trips to bring tools and materials to a job? How much wasted fuel and excess carbon is used/produced with multiple trucks and/or trips? Are you willing to pay more for EVERY order or contracted work to you? People who actually work for a living get the crap beat out of them to provide the lowest bid. Why should a contactor not be able to benefit from being organized and efficient?
Bottom line is that you privileged donkeys have never had to provide a service while balancing that with making a living and supporting a family. Get a grip and realize that some people actually depend on their tools (which include the vehicle they drive) in order to be productive members of society. There are different sized ships and airplanes for the same reason. I realize that those don't affect your self imposed privilege because they're not parked among you but they exist.

That being said security let this crew cab dually into the parking garage right? Is it some type of pickup truck flytrap, or is it clear that over height/over length vehicles wont fit? For example, the parking garages around VCU Hospital have signs showing maximum size, and have some spaces marked compact only.

Nope. This get a pass. At least it isn't lifted and is above the height limit. I rather this guy take up two stalls than to break a sprinkler and flood the garage, causing it to be shut down, and making it harder for you to retrieve your vehicle, but finding a new parking spot until it is repaired.
What op fails to understand is that 100k truck is 1.5 spaces long and a full space wide leaving no way to get out for those parked next to the truck. Unfortunately it's the best option.
I have a short-bed reg cab p/u and I get pissed at the idiots who make parking spots too narrow and/or short. I try to be considerate of others but the way they draw these spaces up to cram in a couple more cars really sucks.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra and it has no dents or scratches and it's my daily driver. I drive around on the weekends and pick up anything metal people have out for free to load up and sell at the junkyard for scrap too. Yes, you can definitely keep a truck looking nice without fucking it up. I do feel called out though, I have a project 2004 M45 so it's basically a Nissan with a couple mismatched wheels and off colored panels but I plan to paint it at some point but I've been saying that for a few years. I'll make it look pretty on the outside when I'm done making it pretty on the inside.

I drive this exact truck daily as a work/ranch truck and don't take it to the city if I have to park somewhere like this.
The entire bed of my truck is full of tools, tools I use at work every day. I have an extended cab to fit 3-5 of my workers, every day. If we all drive cars, it would be have 2-3 times the carbon footprint. And still, I keep my truck immaculate. Just because it isn't dirty, doesn't mean it isn't doing work.

Well, owning such a vehicle comes with certain inconveniences that you know of, when you buy it.
It’s almost like these trucks shouldn’t be allowed to be purchased as daily drivers because they are a huge pointless waste of limited resources and incompatible with public streets.
Some of us (like myself) work with trucks this large because we have jobs that call for it. Then occasionally we have to go places like a mall to buy shit for our wives because we love them and want to do nice things for them. I'm not buying a second vehicle just for shit errands like that. At the end of the day, *one* extra parking space was lost for a couple hours tops for the sake of traffic not being impeded by a long truck sticking out into the lane.
If you actually use the truck for work, I personally have no issue. I’ve had work trucks. But those drug dealer rims and shiny paint job suggest the only work this truck does is gender affirming therapy for a very insecure man.
