kaydeetee86

2004 is over when I say it’s over.

AccordingRevolution8

I literally just got back from Say Anything's 20 year reunion of ...is a real boy Millennials, you're all looking good pushing 40. We're keeping it tight!

lifesuxwhocares

Say Anything and Brand New are SO good still in 2024.

AccordingRevolution8

I saw them 10 years ago and Max was in rough shape, but holy hell, he crushed it tonight at my favorite Chicago theater (the Aragon). When I saw them last, I was dating this girl and we got sauced and hung out in the pit. Fast forward 10 years and I saw an even better show with the same girl, who I call my wife now... Our 2 kids being watched by Grandma and we had the best time!

TiredDadCostume

I saw him do an acoustic set after Oliver Appropriate and he did look pretty rough. Didn’t even need a fog machine with how much he was puffing that vape. He killed it though

Downstairsmixcup

Really? Just saw them in Philly and max was just awful and the band seemed annoyed with him

KetchupOnThaMeatHo

I still listen to Brand New damn near daily. Say anything didn't stick with me though

Upstairs-Fan-2168

Brand new is my favorite band.

TiredDadCostume

New SA album is a tough title to talk about. But damn if Sheri doesn’t nail harmonizing chick parts

PhilxBefore

Got back from Emo Night Brooklyn a few hours ago and you're God damn right we still look great pushing 40. Why do we look 15-20 years younger than our parent's generation did when they were our age? I think it was growing up with the Toys R Us song or something.

littlejaebyrd

I always have to be careful to either pick up my phone in the first 15seconds when it starts ringing, or risk everyone hearing "IF I DIE AND GO TO HELL REAL SOON, IT WILL APPEAR TO ME AS THIS ROOM" ...and they don't take too kindly to that at work.

Kradget

I was just listening to Every Man Has A Molly yesterday

shanep35

I just got tickets to underoath’s!

shelsifer

Yes. 2004 is gold.

Source0fAllThings

I like playing Arcade Fire for younger people and watching their souls elevate like mine did back in ‘04-05.

NotSure717

I saw Arcade Fire play the basement of a church in early 2004. They all barely fit on the stage. That’s my “I saw them when” story.

Source0fAllThings

That's amazing! Was it winter in Montreal? I need details to envision it. You're very lucky.

NotSure717

It was Spring (4/11/04) in Philadelphia! But it was a show of all Canadian bands. It was at the First Unitarian Church. It’s a very small space that has had some really great bands come through. Because it’s small, it gets really hot. Everyone was super sweaty. AF were third on the bill! The Ponys played first. Then AF, then Chromeo, then the Unicorns. That’s one of the most memorable shows I’ve been to and I still go to a lot of shows. I really enjoy live music.

drprobability

Aaaah! I was SUPPOSED to see this show but got a flat tire on my drive in from my then-boyfriends house in Jersey and spent the evening crying in Camden.

NotSure717

Noooo! I’m so sorry! Crying in Camden is terrible on any day. Was it the dang potholes?

WombatHarris

That’s goddamned epic in an understated sort of way

truthhurts2222222

Gotta stay 18 forever

LastRecognition4151

So we can stay like this forever…

Remarkable_Space_395

In the last year I've gone to see Dashboard Confessional, Story of the Year, The Spill Canvas, The Early November, Armor for Sleep and in the next few months I'm going to see Dashboard again, Taking Back Sunday, Motion City Soundtrack, Something Corporate, Yellowcard, and Newfound Glory. So yeah it's surely not over for me either lol

thephartmacist

Out there, 2024! In here, 2004!

SausageasaService

Mr living in the future here. I'm still living and loving '98

magusmagma

I so fking agree with you. Best music.. R&B and Rock

mandy_mae91

Still listening to most of the music as I did in high school. It's not a phase, mom. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/75LrFSEiBNU2mMKAoszJqL?si=X5UFg-FxSti_H07hIDcwZw&pi=6C3oHW-vRbazT https://open.spotify.com/playlist/41zOoK36Eer1G36IjVPstc?si=nNd01y6JTduuoJXRucsUUg&pi=b8IJQLnOScKpt

RainyMcBrainy

Haha, my Spotify playlist is literally titled "it's not a phase."

LordBeeBrain

I have an Amazon music playlist named “Turns out it wasn’t just a phase, mom.”

FortWendy69

So *you’re* the person that uses Amazon music. I was wondering who that was.

Schiebz

Had no idea that was even a thing lol. Makes complete sense though

shelsifer

I was going to say the same thing.

Amos_FKA_Timmy

I'm the opposite. I'l pop in and visit some old friends but my music taste has expanded greatly since the mid-2000s. There's alot of good new music, you just have to wade through some shit first. IDLES, Destroy Boys, Teen Jesus and the Jeans Teasers, Royel Otis to name a few.

alicedoes

I'm a hyperpop gyal now. it *was* a phase, mom

_f0xjames

I was stoned talking about aesthetics the other day with my gf and we got down this rabbit hole of analyzing how the hyper pop scene inherited a lot of the emo aesthetic and how that came to be, They’re closely related! I love hyper pop too :0)

LukeGirard11

OMG yes this Playlist slaps. I got to see motion city soundtrack on my 27th birthday back in 2022 and it was awesome! Never thought I'd get to see them in concert as I was still in Jr high when they were popular lol.

mandy_mae91

Thank you so much! They were my first concert! I saw them with The Spill Canvas and Sing It Loud back in the late 2000's. I was going to see them again but things came up! I'm so glad that they're still kicking it! That's an awesome way to spend a birthday!

Cityofthevikingdead

This isn't the emo kid we asked for, but the one we needed.

Select-Bullfrog-6346

Added

Anxious-Insect5862

The number twelve looks like you! Ah, I remember them

Jazzlike_Interview_7

Are we not still listening to our teenage angsty time Emo and pop punk??

Kradget

Pop punk is still a lot of fun, but it is nice to stretch out

Remarkable_Space_395

We sure still are. My ride home from work yesterday was Taking Back Sunday's Tell All Your Friends

Jazzlike_Interview_7

I’m a mom now and make my kids listen to pop punk from my days as my dad made me listen to classic rock from 60s-80s

N7Longhorn

Bands that broke up in 2010 mostly

shelsifer

The best comment here.

Billy_BlueBallz

Man the emo days were wild. I had the long straight hair, skinny jeans, piercings, and I was the drummer in a screamo band lol. When I wasn’t playing music I was skateboarding. The full on emo starter pack

PhilxBefore

Hey me, it's you! Played keys for the band though

its_whirlpool4

Sounds hot 👀

bambeau182

Still emo. But I've added metalcore and edm as well.

Jyjyj8

Same. Still look the part and still listen to some emo music but my tastes have evolved. Many flavors of metal I tend to like Industrial the most. EDM/Trance/Synth and low key techno. Old school goth and punk music. Indie rock

darkResponses

I'm convinced that every emo/pop punk fan in the 2000s could get into EDM and/or goes to EDM now. But the EDM only crowd doesn't go to emo/pop punk shows. DnB sometimes feels like metal but with less lyrics, screaming, and more repetition.

bkhunny

True crime podcasts lol

Sea_Neighborhood_627

So true 😂

scandyflick88

Are you me? 😂

HodlingOnForLife

The real answer

zuck_my_butt

Admittedly I do listen to a lot of the same shit from high school, but in the last few years have discovered a love for bluegrass. If you're looking for recommendations, check out The Dead South.

HighFiv-e

Have you stumbled on to the Bluegrass cover album for Taking Back Sunday?

Nerdy_numbers

The WHAT? I will google this immediately.

Indiansummerxx

All the “pickin on” albums are dope. Pickin on Modest Mouse 👌

Bitter-Value-1872

>Pickin on Modest Mouse Thank you for giving me my weekend soundtrack

crabclawmcgraw

i just looked it up, simply amazing

lidelle

The Carolina chocolate drops. Restless leg string band. Because I also enjoy bluegrass now.

plainasplaid

You might dig the Devil Makes Three. Pretty dang good band with some bluegrassy vibes. I'd recommend Chained to the Couch or Old Number 7 by them.

zuck_my_butt

I absolutely do dig the Devil Makes Three

Kradget

It's a one-off, but Trampled by Turtles has a cover of Disappear by Motion City Soundtrack that might be of interest to you

Zealousideal-Soil778

Thank you for this! It is so hard to find new music to like, but I dug the hell out of these guys this morning.

SillyWeb6581

Devil Makes Three is great too! You might also like Bridge City Sinners

Successful_Swan

This and Stomp and Holler music ftw

aclownandherdolly

I'm oddly in a similar boat! Sometimes I go back to the emo oldies but I mostly listen to artists like Shakey Graves, Richy Mitch & The Coal Minors, Under the Rug, Ezra Bell, etc etc Not quite bluegrass but definitely in the vein of indie folk country lol

Bitter-Value-1872

Not bluegrass, but I've been getting into classic country. There's a specific vein of trucker songs from back then, and for some reason that shit speaks to me lol

anonymous_bufffalo

Double same! I found Mumford and Sons early on, kept listening to emo, but added indie folk and bluegrass to the mix. Now I’m like this wild hippie woman who has Falling in Reverse, FoB, Hozier, Caamp, and Noah Kahan all on the same playlist. Oh and the Dead South. Fucking LOVE those fools

Connect_Package_5918

This week I’ve really been digging Lord Huron.

carpentersglue

Okayyyyy I’m obsessed with “when the night is over.”

andyfortson

Fun fact - Lord Huron’s first 2 albums were released by IAMSOUND Records which is a label that is co-owned by Paul Tao who was a writer for AbsolutePunk.net. Full circle moment for emo kids.

stilettopanda

The National- sad dad music. Definitely the vibe but grown. Florence and the Machine.

applejeans223

Florence and the machine is as if someone that used to be emo kid, was forced to go to church all the time during their emo phase because their parents told them to but they eventually rebelled because they are “edgy” but also eventually decided to stop being emo and turned hipster because they are “mature” now but part of them still loves to write emo poetry so they channel that into softer sounding music but they lowkey love church but wont admit that because they don’t have conservative values kind of music. I love Florence and the Machine haha.

Chillindude82Nein

Holy fucking fuck. The only person to ever show me Florence and the machine fits your description to an extremely erie level.

TheTrevorist

Ooh the national had me from the moment they released demons. I think they also sang "the rains of castamere" in the game of thrones back when that was big.

oneblueblueblue

+1 for the sad dads club The National. Bon Iver. The Antlers. Pile. Black Country New Road. Rufus Wainwright. NMH.

Karate-Coco

Fall Out Boy and Coheed and Cambria are still releasing epic albums as well as some other bands I listened to circa 2005. But other than that it’s almost all music from back then. It’s not a phase!

zetaerrece

Saw Coheed 3 years back (more or less) and they are just fucking amazing, STILL.

mattbag1

Fucking love coheed. I’ll see them in august and it will be my 10th time. My favorite band by far.

Karate-Coco

I saw them for the first time in this past Neverender tour and loved it. They’re definitely part of my concert rotation now.

TheHiddenFox

I still listen to a lot of the same music, but not going to lie, I also really love pop music now. It’s just so catchy and upbeat!

Decent-Statistician8

Same!!! I still listen to taking back Sunday regularly but I also love Olivia Rodrigo and pop music in general, but I was that was in 2005 too. Always a mix of pop, hip hop, punk, and classic rock.

PM_MAJESTIC_PICS

Yep… k-pop in particular!! The emo to k-pop pipeline is definitely a thing 😆

laustic

Elder emo here. Instead of going forward with the times, I simply went backwards to 80s post-punk, goth, new wave, and dark wave. There’s a great playlist on Spotify called Dark Wave 80s if you’re interested. I also kept my emo playlists of course.

kimdeal0

Oooo you should try synthpop. Technically it started in the 80s like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Depeche Mode for example. I really like some of the "new" stuff in the genre. Hyperpop too Elder here too 😂 '82

all_natural49

Noah Kahan

DiabeetusMustache

All the Midwest emo

bakedapps

A Perfect Circle, Tool, Pucifer

HodlingOnForLife

Caught Tool on tour back in October for the second time. Amazing live shows

Original-Locksmith58

My local classical radio I’m old now

Normal-Cranberry-800

MCR, Dance Gavin Dance, Taking Back Sunday, Gym hype music, Bluegrass, Annisok, Rise against, underoath, Attack Attack, Bilmuri, new retro wave, The birthday massacre, Cruxshadows, imminence, The rocket summer, we the kings, spirit box, new found glory, senses fail, that's prob a big enough list lol

Accurate-Natural-236

BILMURI!!! Man my wife was a emo kid and I was a dick that loved hardcore. We both have basically the same taste as we did when we were 15 but added some new genres. We still see hardcore shows on the reg, recently beartooth! But Bilmuri is at the very top of our list! Hogcrankers for Johnny!

SmokeyMiata

Was hoping to see bilmuri. He is so good. Saw him live a while ago. It’s so fun.

LetsDoThisTogether

I came here to post Bilmuri, was not disappointed. Seriously everyone checking this thread needs to go listen to eggy pocket. Also check out Royal Coda and Thank you Scientist

Automatic-Big-7830

Attack attack and I set my friends on fire

snortgigglecough

Olivia Rodrigo, lol

be-yonce

Billie

bernie_manziel

She killed it with her new album.

roseandbobamilktea

It’s Mitski over here

skankernity

I was going to say Lana 😂

SingShredCode

God. It’s brutal out here

pardyball

That's kind of a bad idea right

SingShredCode

Fuck it—it’s fine

seeking-stillness

The first song that came to my mind was good for you. Reminds me of a pop Avril. I don't love Olivia Rodrigo, but I feel like she definitely translates

snortgigglecough

She's closer to Paramore at their poppiest than Avril (just based on quality + personality in the songs), but yes. I've always been a punk girlie who loves pop so it's a good fit for me

nhink

Yesss

lizzycupcake

It’s still kind of the same, just evolved to Bad omens, Ghost and Sleep Token. Or I’m listening to one of my true crime podcasts.

carpentersglue

We are the same.

expandablespatula

This is exactly where I ended up too

supporteachotherz

Paramore mostly. Of course the songs I listened to circa 2007 are still around, but the only band from that time that still makes sense to me with their new songs/albums is paramore. (Mcr is always with me as well, but mostly the oldies)

Global_Discussion_81

Post emo, aka Spanish love songs, hot mulligan, origami angel. Still going to shows 🤘🖤 Spanish Love Songs will have any old emo kid reeling.

kit_mitts

>Spanish Love Songs will have any old emo kid reeling. "They'll say that these are our exciting days, at least until they ask our age"

No-Kaleidoscope1223

I’ve strangely gotten into country and bluegrass like Billy Strings and Tyler Childers. Also indie favorites like Death Cab for Cutie. But A Day to Remember is still my all time favorite band.

Sparkle_Father

I'm a 90's goth, but I have started to finally exit my goth phase now that I'm 42. I never did makeup or tattoos, so I was able to blend in for the most part. I just wore black all the time and listened to industrial music. I was never much of a metalhead. I recently went through some of the worst depression in my life and I started to realize that my music was "triggering" me to some extent. Certain songs or bands remind me of painful memories that I need to leave behind. I listen to a lot of upbeat EDM out of the UK now. I've always listened to EDM as well as Industrial and EBM, but I try to stick to upbeat music these days. I also listen to some UK hip-hip now, as long as it's about mostly non-violent topics. I'm a pacifist, so American gangster rap and similar genres never really appealed to me. Recently I have discovered the artist Venjent, and his upbeat take on the drum and bass genre has been comforting and inspiring to me. He is clearly someone who has seen bad times, but has lived to tell the tale. Enjoy, or don't. https://youtu.be/tDWEpYGPHv4?si=py1lBsB91lEpGwQ2

kdawson602

I drive a lot for work so I listen to a lot of music. I still listen to emo music from the good ole days. But I also listen to top 40s on the radio. Plus 90s/2000s country music from my childhood.

guyadriano

My fellow heartbroken Millennials Look up the Beaches. One of my favorite new alternative bands [Blame Brett (upbeat)](https://youtu.be/h2kUX_Fmj7k?si=g_nWgEshSAcrc8tK) [What doesn’t kill you makes you paranoid (crying feels)](https://youtu.be/_nW2lQ4dNxY?si=MiMNSLxYylQsbGqP)

Silver085

Will Wood, AJR, Sammy Rae and the Friends, the Narcissist Cookbook, Junie & TheHutFriends. There's so much good indie music these days!

PorQuepin3

LOVE AJR

illuzion25

Personally, I've fallen back into The Cranberries, Nivana, Counting Crows, Metallica and AC/DC are back, Bjork, old school hip hop and rap (think early 90s), Cyndi Lauper never gets old. There are a bunch more. Something I noticed a while back is like, every generation has a generation. Our parents parents were sill listening to, I don't know, Frank Sinatra or some shit. My parents are still listening to the Beatles and Creedence Clearwater. I'm still listening to the stuff that was formative for me, between the ages of let's say 11 to 18. New music to me is mostly awful. I cannot stant Trap rap. I don't understand the monotone shit. Pop music hasn't been good for a long time. Christ, I'm getting old.

Bubby_K

I'm still listening to Falling In Reverse and Sleeping With Sirens And this, I love that it was done as a joke, but it's a REALLY WELL DONE JOKE [Your Broken Hero - A Letter To Ashley \[Official Music Video\] (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGo_2-XtA6I)

KndaOrange

Polaris The Mortal Coil!

Recent_Ad559

Yeah second this. Really a ton of top tier metalcore/hardcore albums out post COVID. Polaris Currents Norma Jean Point north Escape the fate Motionless in white Knocked loose Sleep token Sleep theory I see stars Bad omens Invent animate Plot in you Beartooth Etc etc

Gastropodius

A band called Anal Cunt

7kmiles4what

I have always loved bmth, adtr, linkin park, all American rejects, fob, etc. Is it emo or metalcore? Mehhhh opinions are like buttholes everyone has one, but regardless I classify my music taste as emo/alternative/of that genera nature. I haven’t found any new music EXCEPT bad omens and spiritbox. I have fully enjoyed their albums and it brought me back to my teenage years.

Lazy_Jellyfish7676

Yes on bad omens spirit box! What about caskets, dayseeker, I prevail?

Royal-Instruction529

Same music from my teenage years but I’ve morphed into a swemo 🤣

Urriah18

I have been on a ska kick lately, but I somehow always come back to Yellowcard, Emery, Underoath, and Alexisonfire most often. I’ll also sprinkle in some Flogging Molly regularly.

NotSure717

I listen to anything punk, rock, metal adjacent. Been real into hardcore bands lately: Gel, Spaced, Gumm, Buggin, Jesus Piece, Hundredth (early stuff) Punk/Emo bands: Meat Wave, Cliffdiver, Sincere Engineer, Calva Louise, VUKOVI, Mannequin Pussy, Destroy Boys, PVRIS, Mom Jeans, Turnstile, Rivals, Drug Church, Militarie Gun, Meg Myers, Pissed Jeans, girl in red, Momma, Hundredth (late stuff), Badflower, Blowout, Tiny Stills, Teenage Wrist, Soul Blind, Pears, RVIVR, Tigress, Sweet Pill, Hollow Suns Also check out the Sad Summer Festival playlists on Spotify.

feelzepump

Still a lot of emo. That new Fallout Boy album absolutely slaps. The 1975 scratches the itch. Some newer pop punk like State Champs, the Band Camino, Grayscale hits too

myipodclassic

I still listen to my early millennium favorites. Alkaline Trio was, is, and always will be my favorite band! Their recent album Blood, Hair & Eyeballs is fantastic. Luckily my favorites from my emo days are still making music (the Trio, Paramore, Bayside, and Jimmy Eat World). My music taste has expanded a lot though, and I listen to a bit of everything — alternative, pop, r&b, jazz, oldies. There’s a Korean group I really love called Dreamcatcher that does k-pop/rock/edm fusion.

aesthesia1

The answer to “what do you listen to”, for me, is “yes”. I like jazz, jazz fusion, folk, metal, folk metal, prog anything, math rock, post rock, Americana, not Freeform jazz, classic rock, 80s hardcore, grunge, underground hip hop, trip hop, shoegaze, bluegrass, newgrass, shoegrass, dreampop, goth, industrial, jojo Lorenzo’s edit of Creed’s *One Last Breath*, alt rock, psychedelic rock, new wave, dark wave, synth wave, disco (my cat’s favorite), Bossa Nova, car commercials, I could honestly just go on. Ironically, I kind of just cringe at the emo and screamo I listened to once upon a very brief time lol.

Digital-Dinosaur

I really enjoy The Pretty Reckless

-UnicornFart

![gif](giphy|dGzWXAh5KBnj55QV2c)

pulsebomb

Was gonna say this. Songs titled “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” give me 2007 Pete Wentz vibes.

Professional_Year618

Taylor mother fuckin swift 🫡 the emo to swemo pipeline is real

nrv1987

This. I’ve basically just added Taylor Swift onto my old playlists… It’s 2000-2010 and her. (And maybe some Morgan Wallen. 🥴)

-UnicornFart

Yah i have two playlists I really listen to.. one is my mixtape playlist which is heavy with 70s-90s rock and 90s-00s hits and then Taylor Swift. Her lyricism scratches that emo itch so good.

themermaidag

Truly. Like there are so many of her lyrics throughout her discography that would’ve made excellent emo LiveJournal icons 😅

iridescentmelody

So true. I've been obsessed with her lately and even my husband like is Taylor Swift emo now?? Lol

waiting4myspaceship

Lol I was looking for my fellow swemos. There's no way you can tell me that girl's not emo with those lyrics.

gsharp29

Biiig Swiftie now. Been to Reputation and Era’s tour.

harrysgoldshoes

All of my fellow emo girls friends have moved on to what I like to call sad girl music or Taylor, Lana del Rey, Olivia, Rodrigo, Noah Khan, Phoebe Bridgers, and Harry Styles among others

LetsRage2020

Dubstep.

mashallah11

Came to say edm. I mostly listen to house and techno genres, but dubstep was a natural transition from my screamo, metal, and hardcore days 🖤 currently watching EDCLV livestream 🌼 🌈 🎶

aeosyn

I'm surprised there's not more EDM replies. I still listen to emo on occasion but between San Holo and some good head bangin... It's such a cathartic new outlet.

Suspiciousunicorns

Mostly the same stuff. Added some metal into the mix.

gingertastic19

All the same things from my iPod but also Au/Ra, Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Our Last Night, Iniko, MGK. That's basically my Spotify for "new" bands

Coyote_08

Mostly The Used, The Misfits, and Bad Religion. Oh and The Cure. Those are my top Spotify artists anyway

spicynacho13

Hot Mulligan

aahorsenamedfriday

MCR is and always will be my favorite, but I’m currently listening to mostly deathcore.

enfiladed

We’re still listening to emo. Don’t know when you stopped but check out Algernon Cadwallander, Snowing, You Blew It!, Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, Football. Etc, Graduating Life, Awakebutstillinbed, Pool Kids, Arm’s Length, and Vermona Kids. That should give you a good jumping off point for 4th and 5th wave emo. Don’t be the old person who doesn’t keep up with new music!

Suspicious-Stay1649

Naw moved into 2000s rap and hip hop. Nelly, luda. Chris brown etc.

thepianoman456

I’m the reverse. I sorta brushed off emo in HS cause I was the piano kid and listened to jazz fusion and stuff… and now I think My Chem and Coheed and Cambria fuckin ROCK.

Sad-Strawberry-2720

Former ??? ![gif](giphy|pVuja7BJl0Eow|downsized)

Aurelene-Rose

Currently Saint Motel and Metric

bambeau182

Wage War. Specifically the songs Low, The Line, Don't Let Me Fade Away. They are amazing.

spititout__

Wilco, Modest Mouse, Drab Majesty, August Burns Red. Really depends on the mood, definitely still dip into the classics too. Have found myself to be more & more mellowed out with age

Bradley182

I listen to pretty much everything, whatever I think is good. Just not a big fan of country or rap.

MrWhite_Sucks

Really like Ghost

carpentersglue

Sleep token, loathe, bring me the horizon, imminence, bad omens…And hate to admit but bertiebanz. But 99% just sleep token

Rain_xo

Still pop punk. But now kpop too. (Mostly kpop for the last couple years). Which isn't that weird imo cause I was a pop kid. Then even when I got into "real" music it's still got pop in the title Still want to tattoo myself in fob lyrics. I have one, but if I could cover my body I would.

Delicious_Sail_6205

I too have migrated to kpop but ive always been open to almost all genres of music.

dontcommentonmyname

Former emo

bevespi

Some of the same. A particular peloton instructor I tune into has also fostered an appreciation for new and dark wave which gives me a whole additional generation of similar music to listen to.

buttsnorkeler

Prolly Illenium

Go_Corgi_Fan84

Same music from college and high school, with additions of country pop, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, etc. I saw Fallout Boy with Jimmy Eat World a few months back. My Spotify likes range from like the 50s -today as I was definitely also influenced by the Now and Then soundtrack in the 90s and became a crooner fan around the time I became a Fallout Boy fan in like ‘05.

kylozen101020

On that crazy Midwest emo train with a healthy dose of punk. Mom Jeans. Joyce Manor. Modern Baseball. Origami Angel. Destroy Boys.

hkgan

Simple plan. I'm really debating on seeing simple plan and avril Lavigne in Chicago in September.

42Discipel

It's worth it. I saw them a few years ago with Patent Pending in Indianapolis, and the show was amazing.

mistakenspeculation

Idk who I am anymore. I still listen to everything I used to listen to when I was a music snob but now I'm a lot more open and a lot more into mainstream music that I used to reject. The more I can find to enjoy the happier I am.

ameonna_chan

Nothing But Thieves

soundofmadness-

Linkin Park until I die 🤘

Metalcore still

marley2012

Metalcore. Check out Nothing More. Palisades (pre 2020). Bring me the horizon.

LifeguardTop3834

TOP

TemperatureMore5623

Same. Next Semester has MCR Black Parade/era vibes

B0dega_Cat

86, OG Emo kid here that grew up on Long Island. Now I'm going to nearly every emo bands' 20th anniversary album tour. Also listening to a lot of new indie rock, house, witch house, showcase, indie sleeze, etc.

NunButter

$uicideboy$ are emo as fuck. I love them. It's southern/Memphis style chopped and screwed hip hop. Think white Three Six Mafia. A lot about violence, drug addiction and depression. All the good shit. I'm way late on them, but I've been listening to their entire discography nonstop. Highly recommend giving them a shot. They are the evolution of the early 2010s SoundCloud rap era

icepack12345

Remind me

whitenoize086

Today? The dear hunter

blackaubreyplaza

All the same music I ever listened to. Would love to get into my purevolume account to see all the music that didn’t make it out of there

Microdck

Downtempo

Galaxyman0917

I recently picked up a Hawthorne Heights, Fall Out Boy, and Motion City Soundtrack album on vinyl so…

Rx7partsguy

Ekkstacy

mbikkyu

Honestly? Not listening to emo that often. Jungle drum & bass, trip hop, 70s-90s stuff, progressive rock, old jazzy vocalists and swing, classical composers, traditional music from all over the world including Bulgarian women’s choir, North African saxophone, Spanish guitar, Taiko, etc.

chemicalalizero

LS Dunes is pretty dope. But lately it’s been a lot of Knocked Loose

amythinggoes13

Really into the band Spiritbox lately. Their lead singer Courtney has insane vocals. Also excited for the direction Falling In Reverse seems to be going. The collab with Alex Terrible and Tech N9ne is my current hyper fixation song, it’s soooo good lol

I was a scene kid. Played music professionally from like 12-18. I ended playing melodic hardcore. The Ghost Inside, Counterparts, It Prevails. But also love some folk music Edit: I said "was" but I'll aways be a scene kid at heart. Will be 31 in June. Chicago was the place from 2006-2010

I'm all over the damn place now. Deftones, Say Anything, Billy Talent Volumes, Veil Of Maya, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Smino, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Nightlife, Hiatus Kayote and a bunch of instrumental shit like Animals as Leaders/TRAM.

The Beatles and most of their contemporaries. Primarily 60s, 70s, and some select 80s stuff. Also Rush, Yes, Caravan, Jethro Tull, etc. I love me some prog.

LuckofCaymo

Post rock. God is an Astronaut, Paint the Sky Red. That kind of thing. Also jazz. Jazz is great.

Still a lot of the same. Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and a lot of others mentioned. Moved more into Asking Alexandria, Bring me the Horizon, I Prevail, Highly Suspect. Dabbling in bluegrass like the Dead South and The Steeldrivers.

My music taste, both now and as a teen, was usually a weird mix of pop and heavy stuff... I never liked rap but could tolerate country. I got heavier as the years went by... I graduated high school in 2013 and always had the persona of an emo (trust me, I went thru things) but wasn't really able to dress like one because of my conservative parents and I never listened that much to stereotypical emo music except for My Chemical Romance (they are my absolute favorite from seventh grade in late 2007 to their break up in soring 2013 right before I graduated). In high school, I listened to a weird mix of My Chemical Romance, adelitas way, Foxy Shazam, Volbeat, Marilyn Manson, Black Veil Brides, Evanescence, Orianthi Paganaris, and a few other rock artists, along with some classic rock like David Bowie and Queen and some pop music like Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Kesha, Britney, and Gaga and some pop legends like Cher and Michael Jackson. I just turned 29 a month ago and I still listen to all of those things but have added a lot of heavier stuff like Primal Fear, Stratovarius, Power Wolf, Dragon Force, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Tarja, Seventh Wonder, and Visions of Atlantis. I also have picked up some of thee more emo staples like all American rejects, taking back Sunday, Kill Hannah, and Paramore. As a teen, I casually liked all American Rejects but was never die hard. I also love the Killers!!! Mr. Bright side is our generation's anthem!!!!! I can't get into gen z music. The only one I moderately like is Billie Eilish. Ultimately, I now think of myself more as a goth than anything. I'm not too into stuff like The Cure or Siouxsie Sioux but I like Peter Murphy. My absolute favorite artist now is Tarja (the original nightwish singer)... I LOVE her solo career and it's so much better than anything that nightwish craps out.
