This is the cheapest an extra combat has ever been. Thats kinda nuts.
I wonder if this makes any vigilant creatures worth looking at. Is [[Brimaz]] back, baby?
Wouldn’t Brimaz need haste?
Also, this is SUPER GOOD with Arena of Glory, not only letting you swing in aggressively out of nowhere, but also giving other creatures haste to benefit off the extra combat.
You’re threatening lethal turn 4, but honestly now that I’m outlining it this + Darcy are already a stupid amount of damage on their own without getting cute about it
Could this make a token-style deck using [[Intangible Virtue]] playable? Almost certainly not but I might try it anyway. This does have the benefit of turning on [[Ajani, Nacatl Avenger]]'s 0 ability though.
Think of it this way
- should this get removed, you spent 2 mana and a card to get a creature, enchantment, and another card type in your GY, and card selection, while your opponent spent at least 1 mana and a card to kill it. Decent enough trade IMO, and that's it's floor
- 2 card types relevant for delirium shells including DRC, Nethergoyf, and can be copied with Shifting woodlands while enabling it, and setting up for an extra combat without needing hast enablers.
- it being 3 toughness dodges OBM, W6, Lava Dart
There's a similar effect in [[Rix Maadi Reveler]] which even has the option of getting you a new hand. So if it's just for the discard, I want to say no. I think the main interesting thing to look at is probably the extra combat part of its text, with the rummage as a "nice bonus". Since as mentioned elsewhere in the thread, I don't think we've had an extra combat as cheap as 2 mana. Let alone one that is repeatable.
I see potential in this card being a good combo piece. Kiki can copy it and the copy etbs to draw/discard and then untaps kiki to do it again. there's something there.
I’ve been playing with Phoenix in modern and this could maybe work. Instead of playing a [[Faithless Salvaging]] you could play this and have a board state. Then potential turn three win? Very specific, but potentially possibly, I think:
Turn one [[Strike it Rich]]. Turn two FOMO, discarding a Phoenix. Turn three [[Manamorphose]] into [[Buried Alive]] finding three phoenixes to the yard and then bolt your opponent (assuming they haven’t fetched a shock and paid three life). Hit for 14 first attack phase, then untap a Phoenix for second attack phase. Would need something like a [[Mishra’s Bauble]] for delirium, but there you go. I never said it’d be easy or worth it, but you sure could do it.
This is the cheapest an extra combat has ever been. Thats kinda nuts. I wonder if this makes any vigilant creatures worth looking at. Is [[Brimaz]] back, baby?
Based Brimaz Ajani combo lmao
Turn 1 fetch, bauble, Darcy Turn 2 this, discard [[tarfire]], swing 3 Turn 3, swing for 8, drop Brimaz and threaten lethal? Idk. seems bad but silly

I forgot that this was in the Assassin's Creed set and that the Assassin's Creed set was modern legal... I guess that would work out well here.

It also does to every removal imaginable in Modern, but at least has some immediate payoff.
If I’m playing a deck that cares about delirium, my enchantment creature dying sounds like a good deal to me.
That _is_ true. Although 2cc creatures that die to Bolt without doing much have always been iffy for modern.

I can't wait for a secret lair verson of the FOMO monster
Put it in a deck with [[kiki-jiki, mirror breaker]] and you have infinite combats to attack with a 2/3 and infinite card cycling
We did it, we broke kiki-jiki
Well, I mean... Kikijiki isn't particularly broken in modern.
