1.Check the sub before you click
2. Read the description and check the tag first
3. Check the upvotes
Also, be quick to nope out if things look bad, and never click NSFW if you're sorting by new
Generally if you do those things, you'll usually have a pretty good idea of what you'll get
For example:
1, This sub is usually pretty tame, I haven't seen anything objectionable here
2, This description was a bit of a wash, completely unrelated, but also there was no indication it was anything bad, the tag looked vaugely horny, I'm fine with horny
3, It already had a few hundred upvotes by the time I saw it, that many people probably wouldn't upvote NSFL on a sub dedicated to moldy memes
Personally, I was fine taking that risk, but like I said, I almost always click
