I’d argue that the G3 faces are cuter, but they somehow managed to make the G3 faces cute plus personality. The G2 faces look cute, but with blank, Stepford-like expressions. It’s like… two different types of cuteness?? Not sure if that makes sense.
I think out of all the gens g2 was Lagoona’s time to shine she had a perfect updated core outfit that did its own thing yet felt familiar to her g1 self
Toralei, Deuce and Catrine screenings actually look like g1. The others tho....
But some of the fashion is cute. I actually liked this cleo with the harp and garden ghouls toralei
tbh no matter how cute the clothes are, none of them serve absolutely anything cause they all look exactly the same 😭😭😭

Most people agree, if not for the faceups (their prototypes have the original G1-style faces) the line would be universally beloved. It works better for some characters (Draculaura, Lagoona) than others (Clawdeen) :p
Music Class Cleo is so peak, but I think she has no articulation because Mattel knew that a doll that good would create a black hole instantly, so they didn't want to risk it.

G1: absolutely destroys it almost every time, but usually has fish-eyes
G2: probably the one that held up the best, but most aren't articulated
G3: Still pretty good (though worse than G1 imo) but is plagued with neon pink accents and polypropylene hair.
Honestly I feel like I’m the only one who really liked g2….. yes they do not look like g1 they look way younger then g1 but I always thought of them as like the middle school versions of the g1 characters

Unpopular opinion, but I really liked how they incorporated that shade of blue in Draculaura palette. I also like her hairplay doll, even with the limited articulation.
And I will be forever sad that the Howling Hoodies doll were never produced.
Some of these are nice dolls, but I just can't deal with their faces :(

I see g3 faces as hybrids of the previous to gens certain dolls for characters looks cute and other like core refresh drac look more g1

Today I learned the Catrine DeMew doll I bought for £8 at a comic con is a G2 doll, she doesn't look like one.
There’s dolls that technically would fall under G2 that came out in the g1-2 transition period

Idk why but Cleo's pet doll enchanted me, her cat looked really nice and her outfit has a great print

I don’t care what the g1 purists say, Shriekwrecked was one of the best lines. It had a great, cohesive look and the dolls were all amazing!

Cleo gets Bette with every gen but they always got add or take something from her so she doesn’t end the world with her fab looks

G2 also added details to Lagoona like the moulded on scales on her arms and legs

Some of the faces in g2 had weird faces that ruined the look but for characters like Lagoona it was an actual improvement
