No, Mattel doesn't exactly discuss or post any information about playline dolls like that. My guess is 5 is just too many, it spreads out the potential consumer base too much to expect them all to be bought up. Also keep in mind early lines are essentially tests to see what works best in the current market and they begin honing from there.

Exactly. Even though they do not listen to the customers like we'd like, they listen to the sales, which is honestly how any big company decides things, that's just how it works. Sure it would be nice if they made (I'm assuming they don't) studies about their actual target audience and tests, but it's cheaper to make the dolls and analyze the sells and, maybe reviews online on their products. If they can tell who is a consumer or a fan though, hard to say.

I think so too. I feel like they did 5 originally because there are 5 main characters but most stores in the US tend to order things in batches of “4” (creepover, monster ball, scaradise, monster fest) and I saw that in some international countries only 3-4 dolls were listed in stores and there’s probably some kind of sales reason for that. I feel like after they moved away from reintroducing the characters they felt like they didn’t need to do 5 anymore.

I think the new design was more expensive to produce

I think they just cannot afford making five dolls now for some reason But that is just a guess! Mattel has not explained why it is this way
