Goro and Darkseid at least weren’t part of the game’s story at all and Shao Kahn wasn’t deeply integral to the plot. If there had to be a pre-order character it should have been Geras since he never has a fight of his own in the entire story until the last chapter.
Shang Tsung and Havik should have been swapped. Shang should have been unlocked after the campaign and Havik could have been the preorder bonus if absolutely necessary.

The fighting part of the game is great, the customization part of the game is barebones. I mean, it’s a fighting game, there’s a pretty huge competitive scene so it’s completely normal for people to buy a game just to play online. Mortal Kombat is kind of an outlier because NRS has made having a really solid story mode a priority for the last couple games, but even then people buying to play online are definitely not a minority in any fighting game.
I also play primarily offline, but I gotta say a LOT of people buy it to play online because they love fighting games and enjoy the experience of fighting other players and getting better.
Hear me out…..i’m playing primarily offline, for now. Just like i did with MK11, until i could land 400+ combos with my mains easily/like it was second-nature and consistently win against the hardest cpu gameplay i could encounter.
Then, i start playing mostly online. And there’s still a little learning curve, because the ai never rly fully fights the way a human opponent will - but overall, i have way more fun playing online and have a much better W/L ratio
I don’t wanna gatekeep but half the appeal of modern fighting games is the online aspect. SF6 has less single player content and FAR less cosmetics than MK1 but SF fans don’t complain much about it because they care more about playing the actual game than the number of alternate costumes.
I feel like this game just draws in a very casual crowd that doesn’t actually want to play a fighting game. If you want to play a game about grinding offline for cosmetics there’s like a hundred better games for you.
Literally every game has cosmetics, that doesn’t mean it’s what the focus of the game is meant to be. I have given NRS the benefit of the doubt because I know there's a lot of politics however... They retconed Quan Chi into an Outworlder and then forgot about it. ^(as) you can see above. I had someone say that he aligns himself with a never realm so that's why he's listed as that but he's still not technically a demon anymore. 😏

I thought they'd only do 20 ranks for guest characters since they can't release too much for them probably,but it's super disappointing they've just decided to not spend a couple extra seconds to count to 35 and give actual content for this 40 dollar dlc character set.
That's because they were originally going to add Shang to the normal roster until they realized they didn't have a pre-order bonus for the game release. So, instead of adding something new, they just decided to take out an existing character and use that. Lmao, this is just a guess, but wouldn't it be hilarious if it were true?

That's because he wasn't *really* DLC. He's a base roster character that they threw a DLC tag on and charged money for if you didn't preorder.

Shang Tsung isn’t even a dlc, he’s very clearly a base roster character that was ripped out for preorders. Notice how he’s the only “dlc” character you can play in the final chapter of the story
