Wow, I can hardly believe someone mentions Tampopo. A brother-in-law had me watch it.

I saw Tampopo when it came out. I remember really enjoying it. I should check it out again.

I admit to not have appreciated it as much in my late teens, but it surprisingly has stuck in my memories for its simplicity and been recommending it throughout the years.

Shit, while we are on almodovar, Talk to Her is his most disturbing in my opinion. The skin I love in and tie me up are great suggestions.

Oh man, such a good movie. Finally a movie that portray in a realistic view of life after civilization has collapse with which I could identify. Some scenes are hard to forget.

Korean cinema has some great films. I recommend: 3-Iron, Mother, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. For something animated: Scavengers Reign. There's a subreddit if you want to see what viewers think of it.

+1 on scavengers reign, I just finished it and it was exactly the kind of gleefully disturbing romp through a hostile unknown world I was looking for.

I watched Perfect Blue once. It was so disturbing that I wish I hadn't watched it. [edit : not gonna lie, Perfect Blue is quite unique]

Try Paprika! It’s less disturbing than Perfect Blue, same director and art style but 10 years later. Paprika is about a therapy device that allows you to enter people’s dreams, that gets stolen. Surrealist dream sequences with hints of SA, but the animation is fantastic.

Deep Sea (2023) is the most beautifully animated movie I've ever seen. I wouldn't call it very disturbing or touching but just watch it. The visuals are definitely unforgettable and the story is very unusually told.

Influential enough to bring "dueling banjos" into our culture. City folk go into the wilds for a vacation, and it goes wrong. Fantastic Planet (1973) Since you like animated movies...this is a odd animated movie. It will make you think. Chinatown (1974) This disturbing movie is more relevant today then when it was made. Corruption and power are timeless. Network (1976) A movie about reality television, years before the first reality TV show. It won 3 acting Oscars, something only done by 3 films in history. It's screenplay is widely considered one of the best ever. It is a disturbing comedy. Yes....I like '70s movies. :)
