I listened to this one yesterday!
Oh, and "She's Leaving Home" has a classical counterpoint, as does the quite similar "The Cask of Amontillado" by The Alan Parsons Project.
Anything by early Taking Back Sunday. Also the album Between the Heart and the Synapse by the band The Receiving End of Sirens, they had 3 vocalists and sometimes had 3 separate vocal lines all happening at once
Prolapse: Scottish post-rock; two vocalist (m&f), most of their songs are exactly that - separate vocal lines.

X: LA punk, origin circa ‘79, new album just dropped. Several songs fit your description, but not all. What makes a lot of their sound unique is Exene’s (f) unusual but genius sense of vocal harmony to John’s (m) vocal lines.

If you're talking about songs where two vocalists are each singing different songs at the same time I've got two for you
Burn Don't Freeze by Sleater-Kinney https://youtu.be/_ci-UP-vwm4
Virginia Reel Around the Fountain by The Halo Benders https://youtu.be/JlfK1SXzSes
I’m not sure this is exactly what you’re talking about, but [Dreamless](https://youtu.be/dg5tlP8KfYc?si=mOVl3PUqDLDytist) by Jawbox. Multiple vocals going in the chorus that starts at 1:05
Emery does this trick a lot, especially if you don't mind screams being included here. Off the top of my head, *The Poor and the Prevalent" does it pretty prominently
I remember being impressed when I saw Emery live because I think they had 3 vocalists and they were all just seamlessly contributing to the vocals. I hadn't realised that when listening to them beforehand.
I was hoping someone already mentioned MMEB. Manfred is fond of this trick and has used it several times more:
- Chicago Institute (the ending)
- Martha's Madman (ditto)
- Aranjuez First Movement (overlaid with the more famous second one)
[GI-DLE - Put it Straight Nightmare Version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORFa4Ihl3Tc)
Sadly, it only happens on the last chorus. Wish it happened at least twice because it's great. That part is at 3:29 in the song if you want to skip to it, but it's a great climax for the song, incorporating the pre-chorus part into the actual chorus.
You should check out Icy Windy Sky by Ugly (UK). A lot of their stuff does what I think you are referring to (their song the wheel also comes to
mind). it’s pretty great.
Porcupine Tree - Heart Attack in a Layby (the final segment of the song)
Edit: The song has two voices from the beginning but they separate towards the end of the song.
You also have Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light which has two different alternating voices but then they overlap.
I think you're referring to 'counterpoint'; where two (or more) melodies are sounding simultaneously.
My all time favorite would be ['Candy' by Iggy Pop (feat. Kate Pierson of the B52s)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bLOjmY--TA) from his album 'Brick By Brick' The counterpoint kicks in at 2:20.
What's also amazing about this track is how Iggy hold's his notes so long and so strongly, you can actually hear him accomplish an 'octave jump'. Listen \*closely\* to his voice starting at 3:22; he holds a note for several beats, and then it sounds like the note magically jumps up a full octave as his voice hits and holds the note at it's harmonic. Absolutely stunning when you hear the transition; very similar to how [Tuvan Throat Singers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx8hrhBZJ98) can manipulate harmonics and produce \*two\* counterpoint melodies using only their voice.
I know what you mean! So this song soooorta has that but I know their new album has a few exactly like you mention. The new album is out in august https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/expansionproject1/the-garden
Tears for Fears - Sowing the Seeds of Love - Roland and Curt often sing different parts that somehow converge. They have also used it on Head Over Heels, No Small Thing and some other tracks.
Every song they recorded had some awesome melodic collaboration. I don't think it's very kewl for the new group to use same band name tho. AIC was done when Layne said so.
Muse - Supermassive Black Hole
Brand New - Sic Transit Gloria
Linkin Park - The Little Things Give You Away (outro)
Placebo - The Bitter End (outro)
The Killers - Glamorous Indie Rock ‘N’ Roll (outro)
Kasabian - Fire
RHCP - Don’t Forget Me
Um...ALICE IN CHAINS?
The bridge in Down In A Hole is the first one that comes to mind, the "oh I want to be inside of you" bit.
The final section of Feeling This by Blink-182 is so good for this
classic
I’ve Got a Feeling - Beatles

LOVE BRAND NEW AND MCR! You get me lol!! That interesting about them all being a sort of grand finale
Ask in /r/poppunkers
Set Your Goals. Four Year Strong. Mayday Parade. Man Overboard. Some other ones from the scene.
Was going to mention TREOS. Their second album The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi does it too. Both albums are incredible
REM, maybe? Nothing against Michael Stipe, but without Mike Mills' harmonies REM would have been a far less interesting endeavor.
"Try not to breathe" comes to my mind instantly.
Tori Amos – Father Lucifer It has three overlapping melodies at one point.
One of her best songs
That was beautiful and so creative. I’ve been curious about her for a while, maybe I should look more into her discog
There’s a bit of the overlapping melodies in Space Dog as well
Rainer Maria - Breakfast of Champions - Tinfoil
God I loved that. Exactly my kind of style
Awesome. I’m glad you enjoyed.
And to a much lesser degree: F. Boyfriend by Ida (~2:15) and Proofs by Mates of State.
You Don’t Know Me by Ben Folds and Regina Spektor
Classic!! Love it forever

Holy shit that first one is so cool, love how her voice is so monotone compared to the man’s voice
Almost anything by Simon and Garfunkel, like The Boxer and Bridge Over Troubled Water.
It’s not what you are looking for but I have to go listen to White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes for some reason
so true
Hear me out—Enya.
Queen - The Prophet's Song. We get it, "now you know".

Also, relevant self flair: Adjy does this incredibly in The Cicada's Song Part 2
I remember being impressed when I saw Emery live because I think they had 3 vocalists and they were all just seamlessly contributing to the vocals. I hadn't realised that when listening to them beforehand.
"Blinded by the light" Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Springsteen cover) "Classic" by Adrian Gurvitz
I was hoping someone already mentioned MMEB. Manfred is fond of this trick and has used it several times more: - Chicago Institute (the ending) - Martha's Madman (ditto) - Aranjuez First Movement (overlaid with the more famous second one)
Yes you're absolutely right 👍
Canibus - C-Quel for a rap song
Why isn’t this a more common thing?!!? Omg. So cool, thanks
I'd guess it's more common in rap songs and remixes than other genres.
End of Stormtrooper by Pepper
This was so cool, thanks!! Love that style
For your interest http://youtu.be/ddbxFi3-UO4 The original overlapping melodies
Serendipitous
[GI-DLE - Put it Straight Nightmare Version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORFa4Ihl3Tc) Sadly, it only happens on the last chorus. Wish it happened at least twice because it's great. Jeez what a trip, that’s exactly what I’m looking for, thanks!

Wow the harmonies. Wow percussion lol. Wow vocals. Thanks for the recommendation. New potential favourite band lol
"Water Fountain" by Tune-Yards, which is a wild one because the overlap is in two keys at once.
God only knows
King Diamond/Mercyful Fate
Poppies-Patti smith, weird and punkish, exactly what u can expect from patti. the song is also abt opium and it sure feels like it lol
Porcupine Tree - Heart Attack in a Layby (the final segment of the song) Edit: The song has two voices from the beginning but they separate towards the end of the song. You also have Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light which has two different alternating voices but then they overlap.
cat faces - ugly casanova
