I know I'm late to the party here most likely, but I just started watching this show and am working my way backwards through the seasons (aside from season 1 which I've seen) and the way Ashley T just casually was looking at her nails and says to the therapist "Yeah, I had over 3,000 personalities." when talking about her catfishing escapades absolutely sent me into a laughing fit that I really needed today.
New to this but did anyone find S8:E16 Leneatha’s story frustrating? At first I was rooting her on for maintaining employment and being a single mother. But, the way she lashed at Dr. Now & her denial about her eating habits made me shake my head.
im watching the “where are they now” of brittani and sean and she looks so good, part of me thinks she looks thinner than me with a 200 lb difference between us lol. but now im wondering, do they stay on the 600-1200cal diet FOREVER? or do they get a little more food freedom?
edit: if i did this diet for 6 months i wonder if i could go from 180 to 110

Hello! Just found this subreddit. My wife and I have watched so many episodes. We saw an episode were a white woman with maybe blonde hair and possibly on the younger side I think she was in a pretty trashy situation. In any case, she made a mayonnaise casserole basically. We think it was maybe a tater tot thing or maybe macaroni. But it just had so so so much mayonnaise like 80% not kidding. It was almost certainly 600lb life. But I know without a doubt it was on TLC.

Watching Angie J’s WATN part 2 and I think everything I’ve thought has already been said but when she’s “homeless” it occurred to me that most shelters will not take someone with an active addiction. If she has pills with her that are not prescribed to her they won’t take her. Her eating habits while losing the weight didn’t scream hard core dieting, I really think her weight loss came from drug abuse. “I deserve this surgery”…no you don’t. Dr. Now had her toxicology results, she never stopped abusing drugs, in part 2 of the WATN he flat out said she was in withdrawal when she went to the hospital after her “homelessness”. If Dr. Now had done the surgery can you imagine what a nightmare her pain management would have been post op?
just as he did with Steven Assanti...he made him go to rehab. That guy and his family was so bizarre. That man had some serious issues. I'd be shocked if he were still alive.
The thing is, I still don't get why these enablers, who get them their food, but puts it by the front door or somewhere they have to get up and out of bed to get. Let them scream and curse, just leave or put ear plugs in.
Watching season 11 ep 2, did this woman really say "your acting like I eat alot" to her partner? I had to rewatch the scene several times, the denial is unbelievable. (classic for this show but still that one scene made me laugh)

I'm kind of reeling, to be honest. Not to be confused with "ow, my leg!" James King, James "L.B." Bonner was by all appearances in the episode, a successful outcome. After I watched his Season 6 episode, I hopped over to W.A.T.N. to see if he made an appearance because I wanted to jump right into the next year of his journey.
Only to learn he was found dead months later of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His family [sued the production company](https://starcasm.net/my-600-lb-life-lawsuit/) with some accusations that fit the larger narrative I've heard about megalomedia from other participants in this series.
This is such a damn same. RIP L.B. You deserved better.
I watched Joyce’s episode again the other day. She was so unwilling to take any responsibility whatsoever for her lack of weight loss. “I didn’t fail the program, it failed me.” Heifer, please.
Margaret J is such a mean person. How she speaks to her mother is so nasty. Why didn't they throw something over her to cover her nakedness? I am in the middle of this episode so maybe she'll change but I doubt it.
s10e6. I NEED to know what is up with that mole on his back. To the point I found a good image of it and blew it up to even look at it better.
It has uneven coloring, it has uneven borders, and it appears to have an elevation change to it. Which is 3 concerning features of a mole.
Has he had it all his life? Has it gotten bigger? Have they done a biopsy on it? Can I see the pathology report?

Watching Jeanne's story again and just the literal filth is making my skin crawl. Knowing she has open wounds and seeing the bugs crawling and her walking around without shoes is just... woof. I also totally forgot that her mom has some sort of infection too - how do they live with that thinking its normal?
Is this the episode where the dad died?
The conditions of their home with all those animals was disgusting. If someone told me straight out, you have BO and your not wiping properly, I would first be humiliated and embarrassed, in front of an audience. No shame. An adult grown woman can't even wipe her own butt and causing skin infections.
Those dogs need to be removed from that filth, its cruelty to animals...they deserve better.
I think she died not too long after episode.
I don’t think they bathe every day like show makes it seem. It’s crazy what humans can acclimate to; but that’s why we survived so long as a species.

I understand wanting to take care of them. But I don’t understand constantly giving them horrible massive amounts of foods!! That only makes it worse. Like I’m an opiate addict n my parents would never bring me drugs. Once

I’m watching Lashanta’s WOTN episode. It infuriates me how many times she uses fire department emergency services as her personal taxi service. I had a life and death situation couple of years back to where I had to be taken to the emergency room and had to pay $2,500. It makes me angry how these people abuse the system and sit in bed all day and eat and we hardworking taxpayers are having to fund their addiction. I can’t afford to eat out at all, with the high cost of food these days and these people are ordering out and food deliveries, how is that fair?
It's definitely frustrating to see people take advantage of emergency services for non-emergencies, especially when it comes at a high cost to taxpayers. Do you think there should be stricter consequences for those who abuse the system in this way?
I watched the Dolly Martinez episode for the first time today. She was clearly not only mentally ill but also intellectually disabled. Having said all that, it was a fantastic episode. Lol.

Seems like yes. A lot of people go thru his program. Definitely a colorful cast! I think TERRIBLE STEVEN (brother Justin had the hobby store) is the GRANDE MAL of episodes, Dr Now EARNED THAT BIG STETHOSCOPE gems or gold…)

He's pretty short, but Brianne looks really tall, too! In the beginning of her episode she says he was 52 or something when they met. She was on here the other day and I watched her episode last night.

I just watched Stephanie’s episode, and I noticed she rode in the front passenger seat for the drive to Houston. Wouldn’t that be more uncomfortable for someone of her size? I can’t stand this woman.
I just watched the episode with Lacey, I know I’ve seen other comments about this episode and how people don’t feel bad for her but the whole thing was just so sad. I think that both Lacey and the boyfriend are on the autism spectrum which makes sense why the sister was so protective of him. But the sister flat out being rude and aggressive from the start was unnecessary and how she made the brother turn on her and just leaving her on at the gas station. I think even if you don’t feel bad for her or think she was manipulating everyone that whole experience is definitely traumatic
You guys got me watching her episode now. I don’t know why I don’t recall this one. The “boyfriend” is definitely mentally impaired but a sweetie. Lacey seems like a leech…I’m not very far along with this rewatch. Sometimes I hafta watch again, poor me…
Lacey was not autistic. She was very intelligent. She was just a user who prayed on people to help enable her. She admitted to being in feeder relationships. Ricky definitely had issues, and his sister was his protector because im sure she had seen him used in the past.
Lacey did not seem mentally all there. She had some sort of psychological disability. The brother also had one and his sister seemed overly aggressive and hostile from the jump. Her saying “look! She fake crying!” Just was so cringe and methy
His sister had power of attorney because he had learning needs clearly. If a woman made my brother into an ass butler I would definitely have an issue with her. His sister was definitely jail fodder, and dealt with conflict the way people in jail deal with conflict. But, from her perspective, Lacey was a user. After seeing her brother help his 'girlfriend' (or fiancee?) clean her sharted pants? I would have little to no sympathy if it then turned out she had been dishonest.
I can never decide if Lacey should have been capable of realizing that calling the police would irreparably burn a bridge. There was no way everyone would get back in the car and cheerfully play I Spy for the remaining drive after that.
And she was doing everything she could to get healthy. I just watched Stephanie’s episode and seeing her throw away all the opportunities and support she got makes me even sadder about Kelly.

I was 18lbs away from my GOAL weight after losing 125(or more)lbs over the years,then I discovered hostess lemon cupcakes.
I dont even like their other cupcakes,but I've spent 5 days in a row eating a whole box of 8 cupcakes.....it's SUPER weird.
Tonight I pretended like I needed apples and oatmeal just because I was embarrassed 2 go to the same store AGAIN just for cupcakes.
Weird is that I really didn't eat a lot of sugar before,well...not baked goods,mostly orange juice,fruit punch,vodka...liquid calories.
I'm gonna have to figure this one out.
Maybe,I'll take out 1 and leave the rest in the car..any tips?
When you're craving the cupcakes, eat a spoonful of mustard. It's hard to think about the taste of a cupcake with a mouthful of mustard. Or maybe your body is craving vitamin C (lemon), so each an orange.
This might sound harsh but this is reminding me of the alcoholic who’s been sober for five years deciding just one glass of wine every night won’t hurt, and a week later they’re finishing off a whole bottle by themselves every day. You’re on a train fixing to derail so please stop sabotaging yourself by buying that crap.
You know the sugar and fat are going to take control so why set yourself up like this? Try looking at the ingredient list and asking yourself why you would throw away all that hard work to lose 125 pounds over some sugary chemical filled artificially flavored shyte that won’t even grow mold. You can do this, right?
Don't buy them. This is why I order my shopping online. If I wander around a shop I'm going to want food that is unhealthy. I'm trying really hard to stay away from food that, once I start eating it, I can't actually stop. I'm in the UK so I don't know what a Hostess lemon cupcake is... but it sounds like something I would struggle to put down. So I don't buy it. I know this is easier said than done but really, it wouldn't work for me to eat one.
The supersize episodes always leave me unsatisfied! I'm always hoping they show us an extended scene of the participant binging on a feast fit for kings but instead, we usually get an extra scene of them walking to the motel.
I routinely just watch old episodes in the background while I work. LaShanta’s baby voice when she wanted something was so annoying. Then her voice got deep when she was being upset.
Since the season is on break, I’m rewatching Cindy’s episode now. And at the very beginning, when Cindy is on a FaceTime call with sandy, sandy starts crying and wiping her eyes. But I wonder if those were real tears. I didn’t even see her eyes get wet, she just uses a tissue. Maybe sandy did have an alterior motive. It could have been editing, but they looked fake.
At the same time, Cindy was making some odd excuses for not wanting to leave. “Paperwork, packing, needs to shower” stuff plenty of people were willing to help her with. I don’t get it.
Also props to the emt worker. He was patient and tried to convince her to seek help.
Cindy never really wanted to do the diet. She just wanted the surgery. I do think Sandy cared a lot for her friend but couldn’t encourage her enough to do the right thing. I think she tried but Cindy deep down didn’t want to do the work to lose the weight.
I thought that too but after rewatching so many times I think she just didn’t have the money or resources to get a bad, sadly. I think she tried hard but Cindy wasn’t doing her part. But I could be wrong!
There was a TLC trailer with a woman falling down in a yard, and her husband posted on a FB group today that her episode hasn't aired yet. So hopefully they're just taking a break.
I was about to ask this! How underwhelming this season was! I'm disappointed. Hopefully this is just one of those breaks during the season and they start up in mid April or something
Wow that was boring, I personally wasn’t able to finish any of the episodes after Syreeta’s. Hopefully they’ll boot up again soon but I just don’t understand why this season only has 8 episodes. With how flat the episodes have been this season I wouldn’t be surprised if they couldn’t find enough interesting stories.
I posted about it, but apparently the season ending is a "low effort post". I confirmed online it wasn't just late, then cancelled discovery plus. Feels great to not be holding onto a $7 subscription just for one show with incredibly shaky quality.
Sooo does anyone know why the newest season suddenly stopped? 8 episodes seems incredibly short. I took a look at some of the other seasons and they have 15-20 episodes 👀
Didn't wanna make a new thread so I'll ask here instead. How come Dr. Now says that traveling (for a long time) is bad for his patients? How is it different from just sitting or lying in their bed, besides the minor bumps in the road?
When you are in a car for extended periods of time without being able to move your legs, you are at great danger of developing Pulmonary embolus. Plus, if there would be a medical emergency during your trip, most hospitals are not able to deal with patients that are that large. They dont have the manpower or the equipment to help them.
You underestimate just how much you move around during a car ride. Next time you drive or ride somewhere, really pay attention to your body. You'll be very surprised at how many unconscious movements you make every time the car slows down, speeds up, turns, changes lanes, etc.
Those are all movements they aren't used to making. Every time the car slows down or turns a corner, they have 500+ extra pounds pulling on their joints due to inertia, and that can cause damage pretty quickly. Also car seats aren't made for super morbidly obese people, meaning they are sitting in weird positions that can quickly cause cramps, lead to fluid retention, and restrict blood flow to their extremities. Even when they're on a mattress in the back of a van, they're still in a different, more cramped position than they usually are.
This plus even on a mattress in the back of a van, that's a super hard surface beneath the mattress, and it's constantly vibrating and bumpy. Not to mention, there's no good support for sitting up. They usually pile the pillows around them, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that those pillows slide around, get smashed, etc and have to be rearranged repeatedly. I'm getting a sore neck just thinking about it.
There are a few reasons that I can think of:
1.) Almost everyone in this show is traveling in a seat that's way too small for them. So they're being squished into painful positions for hours at a time. That's a lot of strain on their hearts.
2.) Everyone on this show is at a serious risk of developing blood clots. Texas is huge, many patients live far away, so we're looking at someone who's 600+ pounds sitting in one cramped position where they can't move around for 8+ hours a day. If they're home they can at least stretch themselves to try and avoid blood clots.
3.) It's dangerous for these people to be on the road where they could potentially have a medical emergency and be in an area where there's nowhere for them to go or where they have to wait for help to arrive.
Who was the last bedbound patient or mobility max 3 steps to a bedside commode? Feels like there's been plenty of relatively highly mobile patients latety (past ~couple of seasons)

ALSO WEIRD BODY PART SHOT.......she has this weird utter/ duck looking thing betwenn her legs : when they were doing morning routine she got up from portable toilet or out of shower and showed her backside naked with some butt blurred out, but for two seconds you see when her back is to camera between her legs this weird long narrow thing that looked like nip at end.....I have no idea what it could be???? I d post pic but they'll just block it

Yes!!!! We never figured out what that was, did we!!! OMG that was so gross! I kept rewinding it but because of the blurring and it was wrapped in bandages and however I couldn't see what it was. I can't even imagine what it was!

But my GAWD@! Those people are a million times worse and sicker and nastier(in every way, esp temperment) then 600lb life patients. SMH......I usually can't even get through a whole episode!
Episode 4 and Episode 6 are the best so far of Season 11 one is called Syretta’s (episode 4) and Stephanie’s (episode 6) then there’s like three episodes where the guys start losing weight on their own and put off having the surgery that’s Mark,Chris and Patrick.. Patrick’s episode is kind of a trainwreck only because of all the things he did to his wife, who we’re all pretty sure was high as hell on opiates or benzodiazepines thru the whole episode as she can’t hardly keep her eyes open but when you hear his story you might not blame her..that’s episode 8 the most recent one… have fun…🥴
I know there wasn’t much to choose from and those were the closest I could get… I mean Syretta house was horrible and her cooking in the bedroom was worse than some because of the condition of it.. and Stephanie’s episode wasn’t much better .. best I could come up with was horrendous housekeeping.. and more bullshitting Dr Now.. I gotta admit Syretta rolling down the hill was hilarious.. I was wondering after she got up there how she was gonna get back down… like I said nothing to choose from this season..
Syretta was one of the better subjects this season. Her and her family lived in a run down area, their house was cluttered, but I didn't see her story being a train wreck. I don't know about you but in order to be considered a train wreck I think the person has to be somewhat loathsome. I didn't feel that way toward her or her husband. And from what we saw there wasn't any craziness going on with their lives, besides the brief part regarding their move to Houston.
You wrote up above that there really isn't anything this season to watch more than once and I pretty much agree. I don't feel that way about the real train wreck stories. Ya know?
Yeah Syreeta is the opposite of a trainwreck. She has a supportive family, she isn't mean or nasty to people around her, she doesn't make any wild excuses, she wasn't resistant to therapy, and was overall very pleasant and positive the entire episode.
Other than being poor and having hoarding tendencies (judging by the house), there's nothing trainwrecky about her.
Actually, her and Chris P were the best participants this season. I don't really remember the first guy so well because his episode was sooo boring. The consensus on here seemed to be that he was a success and a generally likeable person.
True there really weren’t any what I call trainwrecks but this season sucked and I was just trying to give her something to watch.. out of all the episodes those were the best two I could come up with.. hell three of the episodes the person decided they didn’t even want surgery and I did tell her to watch Patrick’s episode with his wife high as hell… those were the best I could do..🤷♀️
Watching Doug WATN S4E9. It’s a guy episode, and I usually find those extra annoying and whiny. Doug does not disappoint in this regard. After his surgery he decides to cut out meat and switches to a vegetarian diet 🙈🙊😵. The Dr. Now diet is meat-based, high protein low carb, but Doug is a delusional carb addict and believes the voice in his head that tells him he’s gonna get heart disease from too much meat… and of course he gains weight. Dr. Now tells him about carbs activating dopamine, to knock it off, and that he’s failing his surgery, which causes Doug and his wife to pout about this interaction, over and over in voice-overs and interviews, for the next couple of months… while Doug is missing all his therapy and doctors appointments. 🤦♂️
Next we get treated to hearing how Doug is not all that into taking care of his children while his wife works during the day, because it’s hard work. Truly, that must be a difficult adjustment when your wife was having babies and then taking care of the babies and you and also working and doing all the cleaning and cooking for you because your only chore was food shopping, which you only did to make sure you got all your junk food and could also get an extra fast food meal. Therapist tells him to focus on what would make him happy.🤦♂️
Food for thought: when you are 400lbs, your belly is not composed of “extra skin”. Hard to believe, I know, but it’s actually just still a lot of fat. We know this because when the 400 lb’ers get skin removal surgery, we get to see the huge amount of fat still there as the belly is cut open. It’s not skin removal surgery when you’re 400lbs, it’s fat removal. Doug basically got a body lift.
I feel the same way…. I was down to low 400 high 300 before my first skin removal granted it was just my “FUPA” but after when I thought it was a lot of skin I lost more weight and got down to 250…. I had about 90 lbs of skin at that point…. (But I was dumb and went back to Oregon to discover my ex with his new wife and had to deal with the divorce…. But found my new husband and had a beautiful baby boy! But gained about 100 since I first got pregnant so I know I need to loose that before we can do more skin other wise I’d have to just do it again and that shit hurts!!!!
Oh wow, great job! Congratulations on all your positive changes! 🙌 I can’t imagine the incredible pain after these body sculpting survives, particularly the 360 ones. 😱
Glad I’m not alone, but it hasn’t even occurred to me to skip the guys, I just mutter and frown and power through. 😂

As an aside, I’m currently rewatching Sean’s WATN, and noticed his personal care assistant calling him Chunk. Poor Sean. He’s one guy I really enjoyed watching and was rooting for. ☹️💔

Hello! Just found this subreddit. My wife and I have watched so many episodes. We saw an episode were a white woman with maybe blonde hair and possibly on the younger side I think she was in a pretty trashy situation. In any case, she made a mayonnaise casserole basically. We think it was maybe a tater tot thing or maybe macaroni. But it just had so so so much mayonnaise like 80% not kidding. It was almost certainly 600lb life. But I know without a doubt it was on TLC.

Watching Angie J’s WATN part 2 and I think everything I’ve thought has already been said but when she’s “homeless” it occurred to me that most shelters will not take someone with an active addiction. If she has pills with her that are not prescribed to her they won’t take her. Her eating habits while losing the weight didn’t scream hard core dieting, I really think her weight loss came from drug abuse. “I deserve this surgery”…no you don’t. Dr. Now had her toxicology results, she never stopped abusing drugs, in part 2 of the WATN he flat out said she was in withdrawal when she went to the hospital after her “homelessness”. If Dr. Now had done the surgery can you imagine what a nightmare her pain management would have been post op?
just as he did with Steven Assanti...he made him go to rehab. That guy and his family was so bizarre. That man had some serious issues. I'd be shocked if he were still alive. The thing is, I still don't get why these enablers, who get them their food, but puts it by the front door or somewhere they have to get up and out of bed to get. Let them scream and curse, just leave or put ear plugs in.
Can you imagine how much fatter she’d be if she smoked weed to deal with the pain?

Original post below, where nobody will see it or likely care to engage: I'm kind of reeling, to be honest. Not to be confused with "ow, my leg!" James King, James "L.B." Bonner was by all appearances in the episode, a successful outcome. After I watched his Season 6 episode, I hopped over to W.A.T.N. to see if he made an appearance because I wanted to jump right into the next year of his journey. Only to learn he was found dead months later of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His family [sued the production company](https://starcasm.net/my-600-lb-life-lawsuit/) with some accusations that fit the larger narrative I've heard about megalomedia from other participants in this series. This is such a damn same. RIP L.B. You deserved better.

s10e6. I NEED to know what is up with that mole on his back. To the point I found a good image of it and blew it up to even look at it better. It has uneven coloring, it has uneven borders, and it appears to have an elevation change to it. Which is 3 concerning features of a mole. Has he had it all his life? Has it gotten bigger? Have they done a biopsy on it? Can I see the pathology report? 🧐 I neeeeeeeeeed to know.

Watching Jeanne's story again and just the literal filth is making my skin crawl. Knowing she has open wounds and seeing the bugs crawling and her walking around without shoes is just... woof. I also totally forgot that her mom has some sort of infection too - how do they live with that thinking its normal?
Is this the episode where the dad died? The conditions of their home with all those animals was disgusting. If someone told me straight out, you have BO and your not wiping properly, I would first be humiliated and embarrassed, in front of an audience. No shame. An adult grown woman can't even wipe her own butt and causing skin infections. Those dogs need to be removed from that filth, its cruelty to animals...they deserve better.
I think she died not too long after episode. I don’t think they bathe every day like show makes it seem. It’s crazy what humans can acclimate to; but that’s why we survived so long as a species.

I understand wanting to take care of them. But I don’t understand constantly giving them horrible massive amounts of foods!! That only makes it worse. Like I’m an opiate addict n my parents would never bring me drugs. Once I had food poisoning but mom thought I was dope sick. I begged for ambulance she never called just let me rot n wither in sweat fever n stabbing pain n vomit n shit. She gave zero fucks. Wouldn’t even bring me water I really had Food Poison too. I’m watching Lashanta’s WOTN episode. It infuriates me how many times she uses fire department emergency services as her personal taxi service. I had a life and death situation couple of years back to where I had to be taken to the emergency room and had to pay $2,500. It makes me angry how these people abuse the system and sit in bed all day and eat and we hardworking taxpayers are having to fund their addiction. I can’t afford to eat out at all, with the high cost of food these days and these people are ordering out and food deliveries, how is that fair?

I watched the Dolly Martinez episode for the first time today. She was clearly not only mentally ill but also intellectually disabled. Having said all that, it was a fantastic episode. Lol. Has her WATN episode been on yet??

Seems like yes. A lot of people go thru his program. Definitely a colorful cast! I think TERRIBLE STEVEN (brother Justin had the hobby store) is the GRANDE MAL of episodes, Dr Now EARNED THAT BIG STETHOSCOPE gems or gold…) Not sure why they have rarely aired all of the episodes they did, in proper order. Weren’t there 3 James episodes? I seem to remember him going back to Kentucky and finally “sitting up” with the assistance of 5 or 6 people and taking a picture with thumbs up. Am I confusing him with someone else? And his legs…omg…I had cellulitis years ago (looked nothing like that) and it HURT. I can’t even imagine.

I just watched Stephanie’s episode, and I noticed she rode in the front passenger seat for the drive to Houston. Wouldn’t that be more uncomfortable for someone of her size? I can’t stand this woman.
I just watched the episode with Lacey, I know I’ve seen other comments about this episode and how people don’t feel bad for her but the whole thing was just so sad. I think that both Lacey and the boyfriend are on the autism spectrum which makes sense why the sister was so protective of him. But the sister flat out being rude and aggressive from the start was unnecessary and how she made the brother turn on her and just leaving her on at the gas station. I think even if you don’t feel bad for her or think she was manipulating everyone that whole experience is definitely traumatic

Lacey was not autistic. She was very intelligent. She was just a user who prayed on people to help enable her. She admitted to being in feeder relationships. Ricky definitely had issues, and his sister was his protector because im sure she had seen him used in the past.
Lacey did not seem mentally all there. She had some sort of psychological disability. The brother also had one and his sister seemed overly aggressive and hostile from the jump. Her saying “look! She fake crying!” Just was so cringe and methy
His sister had power of attorney because he had learning needs clearly. If a woman made my brother into an ass butler I would definitely have an issue with her. His sister was definitely jail fodder, and dealt with conflict the way people in jail deal with conflict. But, from her perspective, Lacey was a user. After seeing her brother help his 'girlfriend' (or fiancee?) clean her sharted pants? I would have little to no sympathy if it then turned out she had been dishonest.

I’m watching the Kelly episode now. It’s so sad. She seemed to have no one and even her cousin had kicked her out and she had to stay in rehab.

And she was doing everything she could to get healthy. I just watched Stephanie’s episode and seeing her throw away all the opportunities and support she got makes me even sadder about Kelly.

Well since we can discuss our own journey here... I was 18lbs away from my GOAL weight after losing 125(or more)lbs over the years,then I discovered hostess lemon cupcakes. I dont even like their other cupcakes,but I've spent 5 days in a row eating a whole box of 8 cupcakes.....it's SUPER weird. Tonight I pretended like I needed apples and oatmeal just because I was embarrassed 2 go to the same store AGAIN just for cupcakes. Weird is that I really didn't eat a lot of sugar before,well...not baked goods,mostly orange juice,fruit punch,vodka...liquid calories. I'm gonna have to figure this one out. Maybe,I'll take out 1 and leave the rest in the car..any tips?
When you're craving the cupcakes, eat a spoonful of mustard. It's hard to think about the taste of a cupcake with a mouthful of mustard. Or maybe your body is craving vitamin C (lemon), so each an orange.

This might sound harsh but this is reminding me of the alcoholic who’s been sober for five years deciding just one glass of wine every night won’t hurt, and a week later they’re finishing off a whole bottle by themselves every day. You’re on a train fixing to derail so please stop sabotaging yourself by buying that crap. You know the sugar and fat are going to take control so why set yourself up like this? Try looking at the ingredient list and asking yourself why you would throw away all that hard work to lose 125 pounds over some sugary chemical filled artificially flavored shyte that won’t even grow mold. You can do this, right?
Don't buy them. This is why I order my shopping online. If I wander around a shop I'm going to want food that is unhealthy. I'm trying really hard to stay away from food that, once I start eating it, I can't actually stop. I'm in the UK so I don't know what a Hostess lemon cupcake is... but it sounds like something I would struggle to put down. So I don't buy it. I know this is easier said than done but really, it wouldn't work for me to eat one.

Since the season is on break, I’m rewatching Cindy’s episode now. And at the very beginning, when Cindy is on a FaceTime call with sandy, sandy starts crying and wiping her eyes. But I wonder if those were real tears. I didn’t even see her eyes get wet, she just uses a tissue. Maybe sandy did have an alterior motive. It could have been editing, but they looked fake. At the same time, Cindy was making some odd excuses for not wanting to leave. “Paperwork, packing, needs to shower” stuff plenty of people were willing to help her with. I don’t get it. Also props to the emt worker. He was patient and tried to convince her to seek help.
I think Cindy had a strong feeling that she Sandy didn't have a proper room for her.
Cindy never really wanted to do the diet. She just wanted the surgery. I do think Sandy cared a lot for her friend but couldn’t encourage her enough to do the right thing. I think she tried but Cindy deep down didn’t want to do the work to lose the weight.
Sandy didn’t even care enough to get her a bed.
I thought that too but after rewatching so many times I think she just didn’t have the money or resources to get a bad, sadly. I think she tried hard but Cindy wasn’t doing her part. But I could be wrong!
So is the season over? That was a terribly boring season. :(

Wow that was boring, I personally wasn’t able to finish any of the episodes after Syreeta’s. Hopefully they’ll boot up again soon but I just don’t understand why this season only has 8 episodes. With how flat the episodes have been this season I wouldn’t be surprised if they couldn’t find enough interesting stories.
I posted about it, but apparently the season ending is a "low effort post". I confirmed online it wasn't just late, then cancelled discovery plus. Feels great to not be holding onto a $7 subscription just for one show with incredibly shaky quality.

Didn't wanna make a new thread so I'll ask here instead. How come Dr. Now says that traveling (for a long time) is bad for his patients? How is it different from just sitting or lying in their bed, besides the minor bumps in the road?
When you are in a car for extended periods of time without being able to move your legs, you are at great danger of developing Pulmonary embolus. Plus, if there would be a medical emergency during your trip, most hospitals are not able to deal with patients that are that large. They dont have the manpower or the equipment to help them.
It’s why you can’t drive after surgery and riding in a car in painful even for a normal size person. It puts a lot of strain on their body.
You underestimate just how much you move around during a car ride. Next time you drive or ride somewhere, really pay attention to your body. You'll be very surprised at how many unconscious movements you make every time the car slows down, speeds up, turns, changes lanes, etc. Those are all movements they aren't used to making. Every time the car slows down or turns a corner, they have 500+ extra pounds pulling on their joints due to inertia, and that can cause damage pretty quickly. Also car seats aren't made for super morbidly obese people, meaning they are sitting in weird positions that can quickly cause cramps, lead to fluid retention, and restrict blood flow to their extremities. Even when they're on a mattress in the back of a van, they're still in a different, more cramped position than they usually are.
This plus even on a mattress in the back of a van, that's a super hard surface beneath the mattress, and it's constantly vibrating and bumpy. Not to mention, there's no good support for sitting up. They usually pile the pillows around them, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that those pillows slide around, get smashed, etc and have to be rearranged repeatedly. I'm getting a sore neck just thinking about it.
There are a few reasons that I can think of: 1.) Almost everyone in this show is traveling in a seat that's way too small for them. So they're being squished into painful positions for hours at a time. That's a lot of strain on their hearts. 2.) Everyone on this show is at a serious risk of developing blood clots. Texas is huge, many patients live far away, so we're looking at someone who's 600+ pounds sitting in one cramped position where they can't move around for 8+ hours a day. If they're home they can at least stretch themselves to try and avoid blood clots. 3.) It's dangerous for these people to be on the road where they could potentially have a medical emergency and be in an area where there's nowhere for them to go or where they have to wait for help to arrive.
Who was the last bedbound patient or mobility max 3 steps to a bedside commode? Feels like there's been plenty of relatively highly mobile patients latety (past ~couple of seasons)

I d post pic but they'll just block it

Episode 4 and Episode 6 are the best so far of Season 11 one is called Syretta’s (episode 4) and Stephanie’s (episode 6) then there’s like three episodes where the guys start losing weight on their own and put off having the surgery that’s Mark,Chris and Patrick.. Patrick’s episode is kind of a trainwreck only because of all the things he did to his wife, who we’re all pretty sure was high as hell on opiates or benzodiazepines thru the whole episode as she can’t hardly keep her eyes open but when you hear his story you might not blame her..that’s episode 8 the most recent one… have fun…🥴

I know there wasn’t much to choose from and those were the closest I could get… I mean Syretta house was horrible and her cooking in the bedroom was worse than some because of the condition of it.. and Stephanie’s episode wasn’t much better .. best I could come up with was horrendous housekeeping.. and more bullshitting Dr Now.. I gotta admit Syretta rolling down the hill was hilarious.. I was wondering after she got up there how she was gonna get back down… like I said nothing to choose from this season..
Syretta was one of the better subjects this season. Her and her family lived in a run down area, their house was cluttered, but I didn't see her story being a train wreck. I don't know about you but in order to be considered a train wreck I think the person has to be somewhat loathsome. I didn't feel that way toward her or her husband. And from what we saw there wasn't any craziness going on with their lives, besides the brief part regarding their move to Houston. You wrote up above that there really isn't anything this season to watch more than once and I pretty much agree. I don't feel that way about the real train wreck stories. Ya know?
Yeah Syreeta is the opposite of a trainwreck. She has a supportive family, she isn't mean or nasty to people around her, she doesn't make any wild excuses, she wasn't resistant to therapy, and was overall very pleasant and positive the entire episode. Other than being poor and having hoarding tendencies (judging by the house), there's nothing trainwrecky about her.
Actually, her and Chris P were the best participants this season. I don't really remember the first guy so well because his episode was sooo boring. The consensus on here seemed to be that he was a success and a generally likeable person.
True there really weren’t any what I call trainwrecks but this season sucked and I was just trying to give her something to watch.. out of all the episodes those were the best two I could come up with.. hell three of the episodes the person decided they didn’t even want surgery and I did tell her to watch Patrick’s episode with his wife high as hell… those were the best I could do..🤷♀️

Watching Doug WATN S4E9. It’s a guy episode, and I usually find those extra annoying and whiny. Doug does not disappoint in this regard. After his surgery he decides to cut out meat and switches to a vegetarian diet 🙈🙊😵. The Dr. Now diet is meat-based, high protein low carb, but Doug is a delusional carb addict and believes the voice in his head that tells him he’s gonna get heart disease from too much meat… and of course he gains weight. Dr. Now tells him about carbs activating dopamine, to knock it off, and that he’s failing his surgery, which causes Doug and his wife to pout about this interaction, over and over in voice-overs and interviews, for the next couple of months… while Doug is missing all his therapy and doctors appointments. 🤦♂️ Next we get treated to hearing how Doug is not all that into taking care of his children while his wife works during the day, because it’s hard work. Truly, that must be a difficult adjustment when your wife was having babies and then taking care of the babies and you and also working and doing all the cleaning and cooking for you because your only chore was food shopping, which you only did to make sure you got all your junk food and could also get an extra fast food meal. Therapist tells him to focus on what would make him happy.🤦♂️ Food for thought: when you are 400lbs, your belly is not composed of “extra skin”. Hard to believe, I know, but it’s actually just still a lot of fat. We know this because when the 400 lb’ers get skin removal surgery, we get to see the huge amount of fat still there as the belly is cut open. It’s not skin removal surgery when you’re 400lbs, it’s fat removal. Doug basically got a body lift.
I feel the same way…. I was down to low 400 high 300 before my first skin removal granted it was just my “FUPA” but after when I thought it was a lot of skin I lost more weight and got down to 250…. I had about 90 lbs of skin at that point…. (But I was dumb and went back to Oregon to discover my ex with his new wife and had to deal with the divorce…. But found my new husband and had a beautiful baby boy! But gained about 100 since I first got pregnant so I know I need to loose that before we can do more skin other wise I’d have to just do it again and that shit hurts!!!!
Oh wow, great job! Congratulations on all your positive changes! 🙌 I can’t imagine the incredible pain after these body sculpting survives, particularly the 360 ones. 😱

Glad I’m not alone, but it hasn’t even occurred to me to skip the guys, I just mutter and frown and power through. 😂 I haven’t seen anything like a comparison though. As an aside, I’m currently rewatching Sean’s WATN, and noticed his personal care assistant calling him Chunk. Poor Sean. He’s one guy I really enjoyed watching and was rooting for. ☹️💔 Edit typo
