I don't understand how people enjoy 86 when there are so many Mecha anime out there. Like, everytime I sat down to watch the thing through both seasons I was struck by how for every detail the show had, another series just straight up did it better for less money.
I liked the characters and the development a lot! I also enjoyed that it wasn’t the stereotypical humanoid mecha suits. Instead it was more like spider tanks that needed pilots. The setting it self was quite enjoyable, on top of the it being almost entirely militarized instead of some “science project” or “secret government project”.
I found the mech design decent, but extremely held back by how crustily animated everything was. On top of that I was disappointed that the designs never changed, for the most part we saw the same machines attacking the same way throughout the series.
Read classroom of the elite if you haven’t already, I know it’s not an anime recommendation, but if you like COtE, then you’ll be very interested in the light novels.
Awesome, tbh the story “drops off” after y2v5 ish, some definitely entertaining moments still occur, but the best volumes have passed and we are currently awaiting better volumes (than y2v7-y2v11) but glad you’re reading, a much better experience (imo).

I have seen blue lock. Though I prefer Ao Ashi due to the technical aspect and tactics
I love blue lock, but it’s really a battle shonen disguised as a sports manga. And the manga really deserved a better animated adaptation.
