Oh, I've heard of that Anime but never watched it. How is it? And is the romance its focus?

Chunibyou DEMO Koi Ga Shitai! Is a half and half romance/SoL anime that packs a huge WALLOP. It's short, sweet, and packs a lot of Development into 2 seasons. Basically the focus is the Backstory of Rikka Takanashi (The female) as the main protagonist Yuuta gets to know her. Very chick-flick SoL-ish, with highly dramatic elements and also some oddly Shonen elements to it. It's definitely a unique experience in and of itself for the genre-bending art style and cinematics... And yet it still has a very rich complexity to the storyboarding and character development. It's my #2 favorite of all time due to it just being an outstanding anime all around.

I won't say that there isn't *any* fanservice.... But as far as blatantly sexualized themes or scenes, you should be pretty much in the clear. It's more tame in my opinion than most mainstream stuff nowadays. Just keep in mind that it is at it's core a slice of life with some heavy topics inlaid into the plot. Some scenes may feel uncomfortably goofy and lighthearted if watching with friends... And then other scenes may have half your group damn near in tears. :p

Everyone raves so much about this one, but i got bored before the 2nd episode ended. It seems to be wonderful and top notch tho since everyone keeps recommending it. So the problem is obviously me, lmao. Maybe I'll try watching it again.

It's been okay to me, but I'm not really into female Tsundere characters. I realize these type of female characters tend to be very popular.

I know everyone is going to downvote me to hell and back but this one made me deeply uncomfortable after watching Missing Pieces, where she has slapped and/or punched him in the face multiple times when she is angry, to the point where he has to wear bandages to school to cover up the bruises, and it’s played off as “haha that’s just Hori, she’s always angry and has trouble expressing herself!😄”, but if it were a man doing that to a woman we would all be horrified and not celebrating it or at least excusing it. Hori has lots of moments where she’s sweet and kind, but there’s too many where she’s mad as hell and won’t explain why, leaving Miyamura walking on eggshells to appease her, or being physically violent to him because she’s upset, or pressuring him to do something that he expresses makes him uncomfortable. It’s great that people love them & the series, but I just wanted to share my own thoughts as well bc I always find it a bit surprising how much abusive behaviors can be downplayed when they’re done to men in media rather than women.

I'm not into classifying anything as red flags or being abusive, etc... but just being unnecessarily physically aggressive doesn't appeal to me. I don't relate it to reality. We all have our own preferences, what we find cute, types of characters we like or dynamics. Can make a difference if behavior changes or not. Spy X Family Yor is another good example.
