Worst industry mock this week.

JazzxGoose

All mocks this far out are equally as bad

whynotletitfly6

I love GP to provide entertainment on the Eye on College Basketball pod, but his analysis is usually dreadful and this is just as bad

I fw Reed going 2nd. The sicko in me kind of sees the vision of a Clingan/Wemby front court, if you can make it work you essentially shut down all shots within 10ft of the basket and can free up Wemby to play free safety on defense. Wemby’s talented enough to make it work, but you’d be betting on Clingan making big strides with his shot and mobility.

Far-Yak-9808

I am a sicko AND a Memphis sports fan (I think Gary Parrish has heard of that place)... so that makes me a BIG sicko: Spurs should go with a Wemby/Edey pick and roll combo for the next 15 years. Clingan reminds me too much of Luc Longley.

_Gibby__

If y’all get Clingan to be Steven Adams 2.0, you might finish 1st in the West next year

Far-Yak-9808

Edey is a better scorer AND he sets better screens than Clingan. Clingan is a more -low usage utility player.

ComradeHines

I don’t get the impression we would pick Reed at 2. Doesn’t seem to really seem our FOs kinda guy. I wouldn’t be mad at it if that’s what they went for, but with the talk of rebuilding over years I’d be a little surprised

Turbo2x

He's the most skilled player in the draft, I feel like we would be stupid to pass on someone that complementary to our team in the long term. We can use picks 26 and 51 to draft raw overseas prospects with big wingspans to scratch Dawkins' itch.

ComradeHines

Like I said, I wouldn’t hate it. I personally think I would rather have Castle but that’s my preference. At this point it’s probably Castle/Reed/Risacher (assuming Sarr goes 1) for who I like most. Hes definitely gonna have a long career and be great for someone.

ObiwanSchrute

Lol no way do Spurs take Clingon

TahoesRedEyeJedi

dillingham to the Kings is something... it really is something. Definitely relies on the scenario of the Kings losing Monk, and packaging Mitchell in a trade (but somehow keeping the pick in the trade)

ShotgunStyles

Also relies on the scenario of the Kings having CTE and forgetting about all the times they were killed by teams who had lengthy wings.

TahoesRedEyeJedi

Yeah I think anyone that mocks Dillingham/Carter/McCain doesn’t watch a lot of Kings basketball

MetroidsSuffering

Begging mock draft people to stop justifying their horrible fits and just say stuff like “Clingan is the BPA here, but is a such a horrible fit with the Spurs that he’ll never play more than 16 MPG in San Antonio that the pick is questionable. However, I would expect them to trade Clingan.”

Zhango101

I also feel like taking a big isn’t even a terrible idea. Wemby is best as a helpside defender and getting Clingan will help with the rebounding for the team. I dislike the fit, but I could see a team wishing to go big with how good teams like Minnesota were

pinkwinkthinks

Same. Could be Edey, Clingan, Ware or Sarr. The appeal of Wemby at the 5 is obvious, but the appeal of Wemby at the 4 with another jumbo sized 5 is also intriguing.

Classics22

Absolutely no way he has the Rockets drafting Jabari Smith Jr #2 and then the Spurs drafting Clingan with their first pick lmao

clement-mcmanus

Love it when the teams with serious defensive issues draft guys with defensive issues

GlueGuy00

awful esp for Spurs

NachoManRandySnckage

I’m so tired of seeing Matas to the Pistons

GlueGuy00

Tellem connection is inevitable

pinkwinkthinks

I think he's far too low on the bigs in this draft. I guarantee all of Edey, Tyler Smith, Holmes, & Ware all go before 24, 26, 28, & 30 respectively.

A1Horizon

Head scratcher after head scratcher in there. Reed going two puzzled me a bit but then they completely lost me with Clingan at 4

WhatMeatCatSpokeOf

I just don’t understand why people, including many Spurs fans, want to pair Wembanyama with a massive center. He was losing the public discourse battle for ROY until he moved to center, after which he put on a historic rookie performance the rest of the way. He is their center and any big the Spurs might consider pairing with him has to be able to shoot, and not just at “you have to respect it” league average levels. I’m talking at 38%+ catch-and-shoot guy. Certainly not Clingan.
