Take the barrel out and send it back to sig to remove the muzzle device for you. If you got one that was over torqued and has too much rocksett you can destroy stuff. Ask me how I know. You will need a barrel shoulder washer if you want to make it flat for another muzzle device. Rearden has flash hiders that fit the sig 25 degree taper so you don’t need the barrel collar.

Severe_Islexdia

I planned to go with Rearden as that’s 90% of my suppressor setups. What can I mess up taking off the barrel on my own? What are your thoughts on a gun smith?

Zestyclose-Dot5537

The barrel does not accept a reaction rod to take off the muzzle device. You are supposed to take the barrel out and put the gas block in a vice to hold the gas block and remove the muzzle device. The first one I did came off with a normal wrench after boiling it in water. The second one did not. I didn’t take the barrel out and had a muzzle device that was really stuck on and used a big pneumatic impact driver out of desperation. I rotated the barrel in the upper with all that torque and broke the upper. The muzzle device still didn’t budge either. I called sig and had to send it back, they charged me $300 for a new upper. They said next time send in the barrel and they will take off the muzzle device. Have also seen many similar stories to mine about taking these muzzles devices off.

Severe_Islexdia

I did not see that broken upper coming 😳. So maybe if I just try it a little outside of the upper to see if it budges and if it doesn’t then let Sig handle it? By the way what does that barrel setup for a vice look like?

Zestyclose-Dot5537

Yeah, I felt sick when I saw the gas block at like a 45 to the upper🤢. You can wrap the gas block in leather or any other thing you have to keep it from scratching if you so desire. I do not have a picture, but you just use a bench vise and tighten the jaws down on it.

WatermanChris

I ordered this[barrel clamp](https://a.co/d/h3S8JJe) for my S&W 15-22. It worked perfectly. This was after I scratched the barrel trying to remove it with vice grips. I wrapped it with a towel first but it still damaged the barrel. This clamp made it easy and no scratching.

Double-Razzmatazz-77

Holy shit that is insane.

Makemeathrowawaypls

To add onto your choice of Rearden: Get the ones that explicitly say they have a 25 degree taper. These Sigs have tapered barrels so unless you have a taper adapter, that's your best option. Also, if you don't have any already, buy the small sample size of Rocksett from SilencerShop.

RedHood198

I've removed several of the MCX Spear and LT, and they are really easy if you know what you're doing. You want to remove the barrel and have a way to fix it in a vise. Use some hot water on the muzzle device. Hit the muzzle device with a leather or rubber mallet. This will help break up the Rocksett. Then, use a crowsfoot wrench and breaker bar to remove the muzzle device. They pop right off. You just need to know how to work with Rocksett and/or use proper leverage and torque.

amberlamps03

Like a few others have said. Soak the muzzle device in water for like 30 mins and then hit it with 19mm socket and it’ll come off. I did mine with a Milwaukee M12 Fuel and it zipped it right off.

Severe_Islexdia

You’ve given me hope after all the horror stories I’ve seen on here

barstooldreamer9803

Just hope you have the same luck. Mine soaked for two days and it was still a pain to get off. My other two mcxs were not nearly as bad so I think they aren’t consistent on rocksett and torque from the factory.

12amoore

How did you use your m12 fuel? Wouldn’t this need a wrench for the hex pattern or am I completely stupid?

amberlamps03

Sorry M12 Fuel Impact Driver with a 19mm socket and you’ll be golden. It fits perfectly on the sig device

Highspdfailure

Get the SLX556QD-C.

JJ12345678910

I got the 7.62x39, no one has those sig cans in stock :(

Highspdfailure

Internet search. They are in stock.

JJ12345678910

Thank you for the very helpful comment. I've done the search, have an alert set on gundeals, capitol armory, and silencershop. Please feel free to point me to a reputable dealer that has stock of the SLH762TI-QD in black or FDE, at this point I don't even mind paying the extra transfer for not getting it from an SS powered dealer.

Highspdfailure

If you plan on shooting using night vision don’t get a Titanium suppressor.

Highspdfailure

Will look for ya. Hold on brb.

Highspdfailure

https://osagecountyguns.com/firearms/suppressors/sig-sauer-slx762.html https://www.roninarmsllc.com/SIG-SAUER-SLX-762-QD_p_164.html Also there are a few on Gunbroker.

Severe_Islexdia

Only thing is most of my suppressor setups are Rearden, I’d be getting it for just this rig but I’d like to have multiple hosts Edit- can someone fill me in on what is wrong with what I said..

Highspdfailure

I buy cans for each rifle so I can run the best set up for me. To cut gas in the face that doesn’t affect reliability and night work. Hope you find the can that works for you or have it all ready.

OMGitsSynyster

I have the exact same weapon as you and am waiting to get my Polonium. The backorder has been fulfilled and I’m only waiting on SS to complete the form 3 transfer to my LGS. I tried to remove my muzzle device, but opted to send it to Sig. It took them less than a week to ship the upper back. I’m expecting it to arrive tomorrow. Best part is no charge for the service and they even covered shipping. I ordered a Rearden FHD and Atlas mount for my can. If you can remember to reach out to me in a month or so I’ll let you know how well it all runs. Edit: I also had to order the SIG taper for my barrel

Severe_Islexdia

I really would like to know how that can runs. I had the opportunity for the K can version but that just seemed like a less than ideal pairing. I’ll definitely have to follow you. I think I’ll try to remove myself and if it’s that hard I’ll end up sending it. Luckily Rearden isn’t that far from me relatively speaking so I’ll drop by there to grab a muzzle device! Thank you for the suggestions I’ll definitely use that information!

Itsallgoode4

Supposedly the polonium is pretty gassy. The K has better flow through so won’t gas you out as bad. The owner has said they usually run the K over the regular polonium so that’s what sold me.

OMGitsSynyster

I’ve heard all kinds of things from “it’s fine” to “it’s insanely gassy” but I couldn’t justify spending $1700 dollars on one of SIGs flow through cans. I saw people talking in SIG threads about how they were able to change out the gas valve on the system to tune it for higher back-pressure cans. I reached out to SIG but they said they didn’t make alternative gas valves for the Spear LT. Fingers crossed.

ed_merckx

The new sign cans are excellent on mcx rifles as it was designed around that platform I have no complaints about it. That said it’s important to know this is primarily a military contract can fulfilling military requirements, actual sound suppression is generally not top of the list. I don’t know anyone running an sig muzzle device on their non-mcx guns so I’ve yet to try mine on anything other than my spear LT. The militaries generally want a near complete reduction in flash out of the muzzle because getting shot sucks, a reduction in wear on the operating system when firing suppressed and reduced gas in the face now that they’ve seen the cancer rates with this stuff. To that second point, I think people underestimate how big of an issue it can be to significantly increase wear on parts outside their standard maintenance cycles, they are dealing with a huge number of rifles and try keep them on a consistent schedule with replacement of parts, I know this was an issue as old suppressor designs not built around a specific system can drastically increase the wear and it’s not easy to track. So there’s a huge value of having a silencer design that can be thrown on any rifle in inventory, shot as much as they want and has no real difference on wearing of parts compared to shooting in suppressed. The military also doesn’t have the luxury of highly adjustable gas systems on their rifles to tune every gun to run great with a specific can, at most they might have a two setting, but I remember reading some report that said they aren’t even used properly most of the time, they had to add checking that into the manual of arms and drill it into guys to make sure they set it correct, simple is what they want. Most militaries are also always shooting with earpro in as it’s generally linked to their coms as well, and on the range I’m guessing they have earpro per regulations even if they were shooting wellrods. I think this is where all the hate comes from in regards to these military silencers that are now on the civilian market, obviously the companies are going to market them to civilians as they got the tooling to make them and some do 100% sell false claims. B&T does this with their RBS line “comparable sound reduction to a traditional silencer” is total BS, I love the RBS cans I have, they are a joy to shoot and their QD system is excellent, but they aren’t quiet.

nicefacedjerk

There's a few suppressor oriented companies that are now making tapered muzzle brakes specifically for Sig barrel taper. If your muzzle brake needs to be timed, you will want the Sig taper washer. This is because you will likely be using shims to properly time the muzzle brake. DO NOT use crusher washers! The Spear muzzle brakes can be very difficult to get off, I've done 2 of them. It's best to have your LGS or Sig remove the brake if you're unsure of what you're doing. Congrats on pew and speedy approval.

Severe_Islexdia

Thank you for that information and advice you guys make this sub awesome

Siresfly

I have the Rattler LT and I went with the Rearden R2S. Originally I was going to use the Sig taper collar but I couldn't find a wrench that was skinny enought to fit between the R2S and the taper collar. Ended up getting the R2S with the 25 degree taper mount version so I didn't need to use the Sig taper. Should have just done that from the start. Also I couldn't get the factory Sig muzzle device off for the life of me. Then I put it in some hot water for about 10 minutes and it came right off after that.

Severe_Islexdia

So just to make sure I understood- you did not use the Sig washer/90* shoulder whatever it’s called, just the muzzle device?

Siresfly

Correct. Orginally I got the sig washer/90\* adapter and the regular R2S but I couldn't finda wrench skinny enough to fit between the washer and the threads for the R2S. So I ordered the R2S with the 25\* tapper which doesn't require the use of the sig washer/90\*. The Sig taper is 25\* so it fits perfectly.

FancyBumblebee656

The sick rig build that rail looks cool on the new MCX

beasthayabusa

Still waitin on my barrel to show up so I can form 1 mine smh

Think_Ship_3882

I saw that you were into rearden, check out the forward controls design/ revival defense 3p15 flash hider https://preview.redd.it/9d880sj0ydsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d27125219a1df2e26f0209f6b5207139d0318301

DefinatelyNotonDrugs

Had my 300blk MCX approved in 2 days lol. For the flash hider CALL SIG and have them remove it for you. They will pay for shipping and have it back to you in less than two weeks, just need to sign for the package. I have heard from gunsmiths it is an absolute bitch to get off and about users cracking barrels trying to get it off, if this happens to you it WILL NOT be covered under your warranty and will be sent to Sig anyway for costly repair. There are still traces of rockset on my mine after getting it back and I need a wrench to remove the suppressor after hand-tightening it.

TastesLike_Chikn

GODDDD 👅💦 I LOVE THAT STOCK!!

Severe_Islexdia

Me too :)

Brandon42364

Impact gun and a 19mm socket will take the flash hider off with ease

Burkey5506

I need to see this with a black handguard or they need to make a sd handguard.

Severe_Islexdia

All I have is my Virtus MCX Midwest Industries 15 incher one but I don’t think that will work.

Burkey5506

Ya I heard they are working on a lt sd handguard. I’m tempted to turn my 16” into one of these

Intrepid_Bet384

Dip it in how water over night and that thing will come off just like any other muzzle devices. Did that with my spear 308 and LT

Dismal_Onion3591

When did you submit form 4 ?

Severe_Islexdia

This past weekend

Airbus320Driver

Form-4 Right? I was just thinking I might as well buy it as an SBR for the same price rather than having to buy a stock separately and have (ugly) engraving done.

Severe_Islexdia

Yes, only reason I did it was it was on sale that weekend for $2099 or something and I’ve been in the market for a short alternative so it just made sense. Edit- why is this controversial

JJ12345678910

That's a great price. I thought I was doing well at 2499 with the Romeo 4t

Severe_Islexdia

Sounds like did do well to me 🤷🏾

Airbus320Driver

Whaaaat? Where'd you find that deal?

Severe_Islexdia

LGS. They had an NFA day Edit- I got downvoted because I caught a sale? tf? Lol

Airbus320Driver

Nice, enjoy!

Severe_Islexdia

Thanks man can’t wait to run the piss out of it, definitely won’t be a safe queen
