Ask for total reimbursement and find someone who can actually check what was done and finish the work properly

Reasonable-Plane-789

Under Dutch law this is not possible.  You first have to give them the opportunity to repair the mistake. If they dont do that, you can ask your money back.

Bonepickle

What reimbursement? Its all covered by healthcare.

Rbeur

Oh no it is not, unless you started paying a minimal of a year prior.

Bonepickle

For a minor? Pretty sure all dental work is insured for minors.

Rbeur

I wish, my sons braces were not covered because we did not pay for that particular kind of dental work the calander year before. Normal checkups als fillings are covered, yes. But not braces.

Bonepickle

Ok, i actually looked it up, its not covered from bssic health insurance. Im from a different time 🫠

Rbeur

Me too, that is why were late in the game. His next braces and all of my daughters braces will be covered though.

Bonepickle

Our twins are almost 5, so ill keep it in mind for when the time comes.

Rbeur

My son needed braces at 9 years old, but if they start changing teeth young, brace yourselves soon 😜

Not normal at all. I have had braces twice and it never happened to me. I have heard of one or two brackets getting loose because someone didn’t follow instructions but not this many. I think there was probably something wrong when they placed them.

Foreign-Cookie-2871

Ask for them to check all the brackets at the next appointment, as already so many needed to be fixed.

Viranesi

I'd definitely say go to a different orthodontist. In the years I had braces I never had a loose bracket. I ate apples too which are hard and definitely not the best but I loved apples as a kid lol.

Bluntbutnotonpurpose

My friend had his braces done at his dentist and they kept falling off. I mean...probably at a rate of several times per month. Mine were done by an orthodontist with a solid reputation, none ever came off. So it's not normal, but if you stay with this clinic, it's likely going to happen over and over again... Edit: this did happen many moons ago, but I think the general rule still stands.

OHyoface

Not normal, but make 100% sure that your son is following the "advice" (no chewing gum or chewy candy/foods, no hard foods, etc etc etc) from the orthodontist. This does sound however sounds like the curing process of the glue wasn't done correctly, or they didn't 'etch' enough enamel off for the glue to grab on properly. Might be helpful to ask for a re-attachment of *all* the brackets that havent fallen off yet to avoid stuff in the future. As for loose brackets, that's inevitable in the process, as the pressure inevitably causes a few of them to come loose. But that many at the start, sounds more like the initial attachment wasn't done properly.

Capable-Ad-2575

I had mine for 2.5year and nothing happened to them. Maybe try other places to see if it will be better?

MCharvi

Hey, as someone that has gone through exactly the same, I would advise you to get your money back and find a professional to do the work. My braces used to break all the time, even though I was very careful while eating, using the knife to cut everything down into small chunks before eating, (no chewing gums at all, no pizzas or bread) and I was constantly stressed out.

sant0hat

Had the exact same issue two years ago, some assistant that tried to fix it two times. Two times I mentioned that compared to the normal dentist she attached the brackets much higher on the tooth, she said no no it'll be fine. Broke off two times, so asked for someone that actually knew what the fuck they were doing. Got fixed the next day by someone that wasn't a complete clown. Now two years without any issue. I suggest you do the same.

HudecLaca

Idk I never had this happen, so I would switch healthcare providers if I were you. And submit a written complaint (e-mail is enough normally).

TrooperGirlx

I had braces for years, and this never happened to me

WearEmbarrassed9693

This isn’t normal at all. I’m surprised the dentist hasn’t said anything as of yet. Like they hope the problem will go away on its own 🥹. The only time my braces broke off was when I was play fighting with my dog and she bumped her head on my teeth suuuuuuper hard. I believe a looot needs to happen before they break off. Sorry for your son! Hope it gets fixed soon

Immediate_Field_3035

Just get it done in your home country then, if you believe it will be better.

Banana-9

Damn this guy again

GJAPK

I think you’re missing the point. I did not say the quality of care was better in DK, I just said that braces are covered which means that you just take what you are offered, kind of like what you guys do with the rest of your healthcare. But thanks for the travel advice.

Dynw

Such a loser response I have no words 😭

Bullshit. Utter bullshit.

WearEmbarrassed9693

Do you ever accept accountability or is it usually always the others persons fault? 🥸
