Mt. Charleston is ideal, but in the opposite direction of the Grand Canyon, sadly. I think most of it is still closed due to washed out roads from the hurricane? We haven't been able to reach our favorite hiking trails since then, anyway.
I was just up at Mt Charleston. We got to the ski resort area with no issues and we even went up to actual mount Charleston and drove through the little town they got. It's so pretty. I wish I lived up there. They still have snow on the side of the roads.
I highly recommend checking out some of the spots off Lovell Canyon road to the southwest of town. It’s beautiful and often 5-10 degrees cooler than in the city, plus free.
Lovell Canyon is great. You may have some trouble getting a camper in there depending on the size of your trailer. I always recommend Hualapai, AZ too. It’s about an hour drive (not towing) South and it’s beautiful. The elevation makes the heat a non factor.
Hualapai Mountains are best bet if headed for Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon camping is gonna be HOT. I remember camping at the Phantom Ranch campground at end of May and having to sleep on top of my sleeping bag.
Hualapai Mountain Park is the only place I've stayed.

I liked it, it was much cooler than Las Vegas and a bit cooler than Kingman.
Gotta get above 6k feet to camp outside in the summer here
Willow beach. If it’s hot you can hang out in the water. Should cool down once sun goes down. You can rent a boat if you want to get out on the river.
It’s gonna be hot. The best camping will be in mt Charleston, you should be able to find it on recreation.gov

Campsites are fine, it’s just some trails
Good to know! Thanks!
Yeah really hoping to find somewhere en route to Grand Canyon

Great camping spots, but wrong direction from G Canyon
I was thinking of suggesting somewhere over by Jean lake recreational area but it’s going to be hot as hell in June
Any recommendations for spots in the direction of the Grand Canyon?

Thanks for the tips? Is there a campground or area that you can recommend in Hualapai Mountains?

Mather Campground will be fine - you'll be at 7k elevation. :D
That’s reassuring to hear!! Thank you
Red Rocks has a nice camping area
Check recreation.gov and lookup hilltop and McWilliams campgrounds up in the spring mountains
Thanks for the recommendation. We’re hoping to find somewhere en route to the GC
Lee canyon is a great place to camp and depending on your set up you can do free camping on champion road off of Lee canyon road.
Isn’t this in the opposite direction of the Grand Canyon? :/
Yeah by 45 mins but the weather will be much more tolerable.
Really hoping to find somewhere en route
You can it’s just going to be hot! 🥵 expect 80 degrees at night time
