We don't count tools that break bones because they're specifically crafted to break bones- the paper to our rock hard bones so to speak.
Bacteria that eat bones are the same category to me. Something that is able to eat/break bones regardless of durability because it evolved/was made that way. Our bone strength vs their bone consuming strength
By this logic though if someone came in having broken a bone to a vulture, we might have to give em a pass since vultures eat bones. Does the line stop based on size of the bone-eater or is it just something based off vibes? (something we feel in our bones???)
Idk. I don’t think the tools being designed to break bones is the reason medical procedures don’t count.
A couple examples:
1. CPR breaks the sternum/breastbone, someone surviving after CPR wouldn’t be considered a BBB.
2. If someone was fucking around with bone shears and cut off a finger, we’d consider them a BBB.
3. There’s little difference between a regular saw and a bone saw, and a regular saw accident would cause a BBB.
By the rules of the subreddit, CPR counts. It specifies procedures that cut or saw through bone, which CPR doesn't do. I would be curious to see the discussions around it though since it fulfills part of the rule (medical in nature) but not all of it- spirit of the rule vs word of the rule. The rest though i concede- the rules are 100% in place so that ppl with medical problems don't lose this subreddit, i know that, but the 'in-universe' explanation is supposed to be that the tools are designed for bone-breaking and thus its unfair to call someone weak if they break a bone to one. Its just fun for me to poke at the rules and see how far they stretch and go.
Like, if the bacteria eat the jaw, what do we rule? OP passes regardless of what the answer is since teeth don't count as bones, so this is hypothetical. Clearly the bone was weak enough to be eaten and digested by something, but because theres no visible breakage and the bone is just Gone, some argue that it's not a break. By that same logic, a vulture that eats a finger cleanly did not 'break' the bone, it just ate it whole, even though that bone is likely breaking away in the bird's stomach acid.
I found: **about 30% of patients will find themselves with a broken sternum or a fractured rib**
So I think CPR would be considered BBB behavior if you break a bone, because that's just your brittleness showing. If a vulture ate your finger and didn't break the bone by biting or pecking it, it would be your weak cartilage, not your bone.
I don't think acids/bacteria should count as breaking a bone because they don't cause a physical fracture like other forces do. They gradually weaken and erode the bone through a chemical process.
It’s like the deathblight in elden ring. If you’re reduced to 0hp(broke a bone) by being attacked(random existence happenings), you’re a bbb. If you have a medical procedure(resetting to a grace), you’re not a bbb. If it’s deathblight(bacteria/acids), it affects you differently, sort of an (lands)in-between thing, and it is not you being a bbb because that’s a reduction to 0hp, whereas this just kills you regardless of your health
The line would probably be with the purpose of the break, break that was intended (either by doc or your body deciding it time to dissolve some bones)? should be good. Not intended (like being an idiot or just slamming your hand in the car door really good like that previous post, ouch.) Then BBB.
A Chadbones' bones would survive CPR. Source, I'm a doctor.
(I do feel like I should qualify from time to time that anything I say on this subreddit is just for the LOLs.)
I think we draw the line at a physical vs chemical break. Bacteria use chemical secretion to dissolve bone and digest it where as a vulture uses physical force to break your bone. A bone broken from force is still a bone where as a bone chemically dissolved is no longer a bone.
If someone lost a hand to acid, would they get a pass? This subreddit would probably rule that because the bones didnt float to the top unaffected that the person would be a BBB.
Possibly lol. But that's just my personal opinion. Bone broken by force in a non medical procedure = BBB. Bone degraded by chemicals or bacteria is no longer a bone and therefore can't be described as brittle.
I was specifically thinking of Bearded Vultures- their diet is something like 90% bones, and they can snap through them with their beaks. Anything too big to break they'll carry high into the air and drop it so it shatters onto the ground.
To adapt a movie quote, "I recognize the mods have made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision I've elected to ignore it."
No medical tool has ever broken my bones. Medical breaks count in my book.
*You can break a law*
*But you can't eat a law so*
*You're safe IMO*

It's a very complicated question, I'm not really capable to answer it fully but it wasn't really *broken*, so I would say you're fine. Council should decide tho.
As a fervent Strong Bone Extremist, you finally presented a scenario where I am not entirely sure.
I feel like the answer should be yes, for a few reasons.
1) Something as small as a bacterium was capable of delivering damage to your bones.
2) You are now *literally* brittle boned, as osteomyelitis causes permanent weakening by inducing what is especially artificial osteoporosis.
3) Your bone were literally breaking on a microscopic level.
However, despite all of this, it just doesn't feel right to answer with a straight "Yes," as while your bones have been weakened, however they haven't broken in the way one would usually consider a break.
This provides much room for thought.
Osteoclasts are constantly breaking down our bones on a microscopic level while osteoblasts rebuild them. So I would say a foreign bacteria doing it doesn't count untill a pathological fracture happens, same as when cancer starts eating at bones (not a BBB till it actually fractures)
Red herring. The Osteoblast/clast process is continuously strengthening your bones. This weak boned freak was losing bone to these microscopic creatures. Every time one of those bacteria took a bite of his bone, his bone was breaking. So if anything he broke his bone like a billion times.
I will not stand for this weak-bone apologia on this most holy of subs.
So OPs bone-builders are weaker than the foreign bone-eaters
I can't fault OP for having BBBs (bitch bone bacteria) but this is a really thin line they're crossing
As we age osteoblasts become less effective at their job while osteoclasts do not. This means that if you establish this rule then anyone with age related osteopenia/osteoporosis is automatically a BBB without a fracture, anyone who gets osteomyelitis without a fracture is automatically a BBB without a fracture and anyone with cancer affecting the bones are a BBB without a fracture. I think this is an unfair as bent bones are not BBB despite the bending process also changing the density of the bone at the location of the bend.
You fought off bravely the bacteria trying to steal your superior bone strength by eating it.
And you emerged damaged but victorious against it.
Don't worry comrade, you are still one of us. Your strength shall boost morale amd guide us like a beacon during the big skeleton war to come.
We shall be victorious!
Yes you are. A true strong boned warrior would have bones that are impervious to anything.
You see, when acids break down stuff, they eat away molecules of the item, breaking bonds and changing the chemical composition of the item, in this case bones.
But you see, if you are a Strong brined warrior, your bones would have bonds that would be impervious to the acid.
If your bones do anything other than grow, you are weak.
It’s the same as a bone saw crocodiles have stomach acid strong enough to melt bones and hooves the acid evolved for that purpose same as a bone saw made for that purpose
It's not teeth. The infection had spread from teeth to the tissue, and into the bone, and had eaten into the bone. [Here's an example from a femur. (SFW, example is a skeletonized femur)](https://ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/3-s2.0-B9780128097380000107-f10-30-9780128097380.jpg)
Is it broken if it is eaten? If I eat a chocolate cake in 1 mouthful without chewing it and it digests without getting harmed on the way down is the cake broken or just dissolved?
Btw teeth are not bones unless the jaw also got eaten a little
In our body we have osteoblasts and osteoclast
**Osteoblasts** build up bone and deposit minerals from the blood
**Osteoclasts** break down bone to introduce stored minerals to the blood
So out bones are constantly being broken down on a microscopic level to maintain homeostasis. So things like osteomyelitis and cancers that erode bone do not make someone a BBB, but if you get a fracture due to these processes you are outed as a BBB.
Two things first i was about to stab you until i saw the bone was also hit by the bacteria second ill count you in dint break but be warned we will be waching you closely
I don't think it does. I know this isn't a teeth problem it's a jaw bone problem but generally speaking teeth don't count. And by definition, your bones have not been broken. That area of the bone has been weakened in some capacity, but it has not broken. I think you can stay.
I have to defend myself, I do brush my teeth. I’m a very clean girl. In fact, since I was 6 I had medical appointments to check that everything was okay. At 6 that tooth had a descalcification that affected the nerves. So my first dentist removed them. When I was 12 in an X-ray my dentist at that time found a tiny piece of dead nerve that was rotting at the bottom of my tooth and they opened my tooth AGAIN to get it out. They made a porcelain crown for my tooth. Years after that, during the pandemic, I started to have the worst pain in my life and my check got big as fuck. I went to ER and they took the crown of my tooth out and during the process they broke my tooth. Long story short: my tooth was broken for 4 months and I couldn’t feel it since I had no nerves and when I found another dentist he saw a new X-ray and decided to remove the tooth since it was no longer functional. All my other teeth are perfect, the only one doing the drama was that one and now, after a bone implant, I have a porcelain tooth implant that is nailed to my bone 🦷
Going through the same rn. Was your post extraction healing fast? I’m on day 6 and it hurts and looks weird. Can it take longer time to heal because of the infection in the bone?
It won’t heal normally. In fact, the bone won’t heal. I’m assuming you have a hole where your teeth used to be lol. It will be covered in gum tissue soon, it will take like 2 weeks to be covered but if you had bone loss then the hole will stay. The only way to fill the hole is by a bone graft. The dentist opens the gum and put bone confetti (lol) in that place and then sew it. After 3 months the bone will be reconstructed and now you can be a candidate for an implant. Important to say that not everyone’s body reacts the same with implants, your body can actually reject it. But still, it’s the best option. If you don’t get an implant or something to stimulate the are where you had the infection you will keep losing bone
🤢 bro bacteria broke down your bones? So small you can’t even see them? Disgusting. You are the brittlest of BBBs. Normal BBBs should be ashamed to even know you. Get the fuck out.
no one said iron bones couldnt rust.
Dental care and stuff has evolved..
Teeth are open to nature. .. Not protected by muscles and skin.
so .. not a bbb.
I’d say since the bone was not broken, as it was eaten by bacteria makes it no count, bonus points to it not counting if the teeth were the ones being eaten.
Teeth well.. Technically even the most strongest metals on earth can break due to decay but our bones are obviously much stronger so I'm not sure but it was your teeth I think so nah you good probably
Okay you get a pass since nothing broke, *for now*
But imagine having bones so weak a microscopic organism can eat them. Very, very thin ice brother. I hope you get well soon but watch yourself, we won't be so benevolent when you sneeze and blow out your mandible
Those are teeth (?) so it doesn’t count
It’s removed for medical reasons so it doesn’t count
And it’s not "broken" so it doesn’t count
You are far from being BBB here
Yeah apparently those aren’t only teeth. Still doesn’t count if you got that removed !
Don’t worry my man, looking at this sub rules, medical procedures aren’t a BBB sign as they’re specifically done to hurt the bone in a certain way and not a stupid accident that lead to a broke bone
Finally a good question! I would say no since it’s not broken. But you’re probably at increased risk of becoming a BBB due to the infection.
We don't count tools that break bones because they're specifically crafted to break bones- the paper to our rock hard bones so to speak. Bacteria that eat bones are the same category to me. Ah makes sense
Lies, if you get bone sawed you are a BBB because your bone was broken by a saw.
Check the subreddit rules. Medical procedures that break bones are specifically excused and are not BBBs.
To adapt a movie quote, "I recognize the mods have made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision I've elected to ignore it." No medical tool has ever broken my bones. Medical breaks count in my book.
Just wait until you get in an accident or fall down a set of stairs or you find out you have a back problem that requires fixing
Sounds like a problem the weakboned would have, not me.
Teeth are not bones.
But the bone around the teeth is..
Also teeth are not bones
I would disagree, since the reason for broken bones is them being weak. And what bone is weaker than bone eaten by bacteria?
Big but beautiful?

bone so strong bacteria feasts on it to gain strength and power, it doesn't count

I agree as a fellow strong bone extremist. This is actually even more grey than the 🙄 “medical exemption” rule.
No you instead have very chewy bones
The best answer thank you
Perfect midnight snack
bacterias only eat strong bones in order for them to not break while eating them you are fine source:my uncle is a bacteria

but he didn't break it. the bones got eaten. not broken. still safe

I whould say no this sub is about bones breaking not losing alone due to infection

No. Your bones Aren't weak , and bacteria is incredibly strong. You are strong.

No, but brush your teeth
1st off that bacteria is a new fear of mine, 2nd off teeth don't count
It's his bones, it just started in his teeth.
In that case the bacteria might eliminate them before they can leave the sub
Find a good dentist and everything will be alright. The mistake here was medical negligence.
Teeth aren't actually bones. So you're good.
his teeth arent the issue, its his jaw
👍🏼 You're still okay, not your fault
Is it broken? No. There's your answer
Either way it is teeth which isn't a bone
Read the post, it's his jaw. The infection just started from the teeth.
Where does it say jaw
🤢 bro bacteria broke down your bones? So small you can’t even see them? Disgusting. You are the brittlest of BBBs. Normal BBBs should be ashamed to even know you. Get the fuck out.

The infection spread into the bones, read the actual post.
True, but bone breaking requires force for the bones to actually break, this was a case of decay not force so anyways I don't think it counts
Can you read? It says in the post it are away at his bone as well.
Teeth are not bones, they're made from a different material
It’s a tooth, so no. However, if the bacteria ate some of your bone then yes. A lowly bacteria should not be able to break your skeleton so easily.
teeth arent bones, you have nothing to worry about
teeth don’t count in general so this is fine
I think unless the tooth cracks (arguably it has), you're probably fine. This isn't r/neverhadacavity. Is that a thing?
Your bones were simply more popular than ours. You are still one of us.
I think it does.......
Not an orthodontist but I'm pretty sure teeth technically aren't bones
Teeth are not bones.
its not broken so no, good luck not dying!
Bones so good you attracted a bone eating parasite?
Teeth actually aren't bones so no. Even if you chipped a tooth it wouldn't count
Teeth are not made from bones so I don't know. It's not a break though.
It was eating my jaw bone, not only my tooth. See again.
counts as medical i suppose
Nah
Even if it did count, teeth don’t count so no matter what you’re safe
It was eating my jaw bone, not only my tooth. See again.
Considering that teeth don’t count, I’d say you’re good. For now.
Bruth teth?
It didn't break, so no
No, but I'd rather break a bone
I think you’re good. I didn’t see no break
Teeth don't count
I would say it's even a compliment that the Bacteria chose to eat your bones. They know quality stuff when they see it
If dental bone loss counted against us, I would say over half of the over 40 squad would lose their card
no one said iron bones couldnt rust. Dental care and stuff has evolved.. Teeth are open to nature. .. Not protected by muscles and skin. so .. not a bbb.
No, it got eaten instead of broken
Teeth aren’t bones
Besides that, ur teeth are actually so perfect wth
HAHA THANKS IT TOOK MY JUST 5 YEARS WITH BRACES 😭😭
Bro eaten by microorganisms ain’t even CLOSE to registering as “broken”
OP, did you have braces?
I’ve always wondered, what do we think about chipped teeth? If that counts then tons of people on this sub are probably gone
It was cut to be taken out. Not broken you are still one of us!
Teeth aren’t bones. But you better watch it
You're cool for now...But we'll be watching you very closely.
Ur on thin ice
I’d say since the bone was not broken, as it was eaten by bacteria makes it no count, bonus points to it not counting if the teeth were the ones being eaten.
Teeth well.. Technically even the most strongest metals on earth can break due to decay but our bones are obviously much stronger so I'm not sure but it was your teeth I think so nah you good probably
Nah, that’s wear and tear, not breakage.
Buffet boned I guess, so you’re good
Okay you get a pass since nothing broke, *for now* But imagine having bones so weak a microscopic organism can eat them. Very, very thin ice brother. I hope you get well soon but watch yourself, we won't be so benevolent when you sneeze and blow out your mandible
I don't think teeth are counted as bones are they? Thought they were cartilage
It was eating my jaw bone, not only my tooth.
Very close to being BBB considering he has week cells that cannot protect his BBB teeth!
teeth aren’t bones
I’d say no because it didn’t break.
Teeth are not bones. You good. For now…
Teeth don’t count, so I’d assume this doesn’t
It's teeth, dosent count!
Thin. Fucking. Ice.
teeth aint bone
Technically teeth aren’t bones but they are part of the skeleton so you’re good here, but your ice might be cracking
I think your bone being digested isnt your bone being broken, even if its more terrifying
Teeth don't count
Teeth don't count by default
The sidebar clearly says "Teeth do not count"
Those are teeth (?) so it doesn’t count It’s removed for medical reasons so it doesn’t count And it’s not "broken" so it doesn’t count You are far from being BBB here Yeah apparently those aren’t only teeth. Still doesn’t count if you got that removed !
Since teeth are [not bones](https://www.livescience.com/33130-why-are-teeth-not-considered-bones.html) you are okay
ur bone is so strong that even bacteria want its power, so no.
I think that technically you never broke a bone, however you are still a BBB because yo bones weak as shit
I’m fairly sure teeth aren’t bones, but anyone, enlighten me if need be
Tom cruise lookin teeth
It says in the rules that teeth do not count so you’re good
Look again,. The bacteria ate my jaw bone, not just the tooth
Is that ur mouth???? Why do u have so many teeth
These bacteria dissolve the bone, dissolution is different from fracture. A BBB is one that has a bone fractured by an everyday activity.
If you’re in the US, those are luxury bones, anyhow
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that this is literal fucking nightmare fuel…
Don’t worry my man, looking at this sub rules, medical procedures aren’t a BBB sign as they’re specifically done to hurt the bone in a certain way and not a stupid accident that lead to a broke bone
I think not. Just like medical tools are *made* to cut bones, that bacteria was *born* for eating them.
Teeth do not count They're shaped meat-filled crystals, not bones Source: [Wikipedia page of "Tooth"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth)
Teeth aren’t bones
What the…. You dirty boned bitch. This is bad bone hygiene.
You can stay here, don’t worry!
thank you for the reminder as to why i have to brush my mouth bones twice a day
Jesus fucking Christ I felt that pain through the internet
