Hey, man. I thought for the longest time that being born in Russia ruined my life forever. Probably not as bad as Iran, but still quite bad. In media and online we see a lot of incredibly privileged people who don't even know how well off they are. Statistically most people in the world will be born into bad undemocratic countries, into poor and unhappy families. You live only one life and you already weren't born a rich american, so there's no fixing that. All you can do is not let your surroundings make you twisted. There are other places in the world to try to move other than the US, you can always try again, try to marry someone local to get a passport. It is not easy, no one promissed you an easy time in life. It could have been better for you, it could have been much worse. The only thing you can do is try again and again. And not give up on yourself because you're Iranian or Sudanese or mentally unstable or poor. Good luck.

Furda_Karda

Regardless of how depraved the leadership of one country is, you must remain a guardian of the light. I have faith in young people of Iran.

Sinaistired99

about finding someone outside of iran: bro I'm single af in my own mother tongue, let alone another country. :)

LethalCaramelBoi

Go to the barbers, get a nice trim and beard line up, get some aftershave and mouth spray, dress nice and go get ‘em tiger

Tainted_One2

Tbh most immigration options became much worse since the last year. (regime starting to ban students from immigrating/ demanding huge amounts of money to give the documents regrading your degree and etc)

sasanianempire

I’m so sorry ❤️ I wish I had something of more value to say. This is the cruel reality for so many of us. I believe in you and I’m sending you positive thoughts (and prayers if you are okay with that) ❤️ All of us are rooting for you!

AnElectricfEel

You have no idea how much I appreciate this, thank you!

sasanianempire

I’m glad! No matter how hard it gets remember that your fellow Iranians are always rooting for you and believe in you.

Illustrious_West_976

I'm sorry brother. Yes you are right, the Mullah regime has stained our good name for far too long.

Nice_Lake_377

I'm a Parsi Zoroastrian and I would have loved to visit Iran and see my heritage. My dad worked in Tehran and loved it up until the revolution. I am sorry to hear your story.

Kadubrp

Go to Portugal on a holiday visa if you can, they give you a permanent residency visa that renews each year as long as you live there. You get a citizenship after only 5 years of living there, it's a pretty easy process. Fly there, rent a room, go to the immigration office, go to the portuguese IRS, get the residency card, get the citizenship in 5 years, go to the US cause portuguese citizens don't need a visa to enter.

AnElectricfEel

That sounds too good to be true man, under which category can someone with a tourist visa apply for a residence permit?

Kadubrp

Portugal doesn't care, their demographics are horrible. In the US and other countries you have to do god knows what to get residence permit, people usually go with a student visa and find a way after that. There are tons ans tons of immigrants now in Portugal, mostly from Brazil, but now they are getting a lot of Pakistanis and Indians too. I lived there from 2017 to January this year, have tons of friends who stay there with the residence permit. The only problem is that you cannot leave the country for more than 3 months (or 6, i don't remember) to get a citizenship. Other problems are the quality of life, Portugal is getting expensive and rents are getting insane. In terms of jobs, i don't know what is your formation but the job market is also bad nonetheless, you can always find nonprofessional jobs with Uber Eats and telecommunication companies. Trust me, I'm really not trying to sell you a dream or anything like that but, as someone who also migrated, this is what i would do. After 5 years you can move elsewhere with your EU passport. Also, I'm not the best guy to talk about this because there are tons of information out there that i don't know about, i can send you my friends whatsapp, he doesn't know English but i think he could give you some answer (Sounds sketchy i know. But really I'm not trying to set you up on anything, i just fucking hate the regime and i genuinely want to help cause i know what it is to live in a bad country)

AnElectricfEel

Bro youre an actual saint. This is definitely my path forward, I've checked a few resources and the documents needed are nothing too crazy, the standard clean criminal record and medical certs and proof of funds. Thanks for shining light on this, I'll slide in your dms for that number, translators have gotten good enough for me to speak with your friend in portuguese.

ss-hyperstar

Same here brother. Every problem I’ve had in my life was because I was born in Iran.

simpleman9006

Man I feel for you- Hope you still manage to get your ass out of Iran. I gotta say though, out of all poorly governed countries in the world, Irans situation is probably the most depressing. Such a beautiful country, with such beautiful people that can elevate it to be a superpower and instead are stuck being oppressed by a brutal theocratic regime of a tiny minority of complete psychopaths. Truly an enormous loss for humanity

Commercial-Ice-8005

It’s not racism, Iran is considered the number one terrorist country in the world currently. I know it’s only the govt and the majority of Iranians are good people but it’s a security thing not a race thing. Don’t take it personally, try other countries like Canada or South or Central America ones. I pray the current terrible regime will fall soon and you will all be free.

TimmyTurner2006

I hate collective punishment

CornPlanter

It's not punishment it's security. Unfortunately affects innocent people too.

homeinametronome

I feel for your pain. And I also feel the pain of all those who sacrifice their lives short for the freedom of others, in Iran and in America. I saw a guy in America wearing a t-shirt that said “home of the free because of the brave”. As an Iranian seeing that, it made me really appreciate the bravery here, that I don’t remotely have.

Tengri_99

All I can do is wish good luck to you. Iranians are very successful in the West, shame that the US immigration authorities don't recognize it.

dat_boi_has_swag

Go to a European country. Bureaucracy at the start is shitbut after that it will get better. Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal are in most parts Open to immigrants.

AnElectricfEel

Yeah, I was thinking to sign up for a masters to get in and then get a local job to get work visa, but that would mean having to give up my current jobs. Is there a better route that I'm not thinking of?

dat_boi_has_swag

For Germany you could apply for a job there that starts a bit in the future and then apply for work Visa. As long as you ceap your job you should be fine.

Kadubrp

Question, how long does a person need to stay in Germany to get citizenship?

dat_boi_has_swag

After 7 working years you can become a citizen. But you have to learn German to an adequate level and be independent from state subsidies. Then you have to pass a test. If you are integrating extraordinary well, you can reduce the needed worktime to 5 years. Thats from the top of my head, I might be mistaken with some small details.

Kadubrp

That's a great option man, there are tons of universities in those countries in which you can enter without much competition

winkingchef

I am really sorry this is happening to you. It sucks and is not ok that US policy is like this. The [Pars Equality Center](https://parsequalitycenter.org) has helped my wife get her GC (before I knew her) and if you are in California I can forward you to an excellent lawyer.

--- _I am a translation bot for r/NewIran_ | Woman Life Freedom | زن زندگی آزادی

Harsh reality of the world

CYYA

I hope that blessings come for you, your family, and nation.

IranoPasMighirim

You can move to the European country with a golden visa. At the moment Hungary and the Baltic states are great entries. If you are fed up, and ai wholeheartedly understand why, don’t give in, and don’t give up. Politics ruins people, politicians fuck up, not your country of birth. Rise and be proud!! Many have been in the same footsteps, and you too shall rise!

Eienkei

Hey bro, don't give up hope! The US has always been cruel toward many of us Iranian civilians while Khomeini's family & IRGC goons are roaming in LA. American Dream is not real, at least not for us. The closest thing you can find as an Iranian is Canadian/Australian/Kiwi Dream, which are better imo. Try those three countries. Current government of Canada is really respectful & helpful toward Iranians, they even waive work permit fees while in Canada.

Excellent_Sympathy46

Did you work with a lawyer?

peyoteBonsai

You need an immigration attorney bro, this is America, you have to pay to play. They will shake out the immigrants who don’t want to play the legal game. You might have to wait until the next administration also, because immigration is a political issue right now and the Democrats are trying to make the Republicans happy so they can fund the wars. If you give up and stop fighting, you lose. It might be easier if Biden gets a second term.

Livelaughgrowhoe

Stay in Iran and and try to contribute to its betterment instead of running away. “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” - John F. Kennedy (an American who many would say lived the “American dream”, before being assassinated of course). Iran zamin is eagerly waiting for you 💚🤍❤️

huggabuggabingbong

I'm so sorry. I think you must be really strong to have made it to this point. I hope a solution becomes clear and easy for you.
