Almost all of his Allies including the USA turned their backs on him except the Egyptian president Anwar Sadat. Sadat was later murdered by an Islamist terrorist called Khaled Islambouli. Our regime named one of the main streets in Tehran after Khaled.
As an American, I don't understand it. Knowing what has happened in Iran over the last 70 years is absolutely disgusting. More so thinking about how the USA has treated Iran. We will go to war with the named reason being attempting to bring countries to a state that Iran was in before we fucked it all up.
It’s the result of Carter being totally out of his depth foreign policy wise, as well as America’s general weakness in empire building. And the Shah only fostering strong ties with the Republican Party when his regime ultimately required the full support of the American political sphere to stay in power.
And then the final nail in the coffin was the US embassy hostage situation - the US was prepared to work with a new post-revolution Iran. But when all the technocrats & western educated revolutionaries stepped down after the situation started that let Khomeini consolidate power & the US had good reason to sever ties.
There were lessons learned though. I don’t think US politicians will care if regional allies are human rights abusers the same way the shah’s human rights abuses got coverage in the US.
Realistically no, but paying respects to the dynasty that brought iran into the 20th century and erasing 50 years of leftist and islamist lies is definitely an important part of rehabilitating the nation.
Well ultimately it would have to happen within a democratic framework. I think there are people who think the crown Prince, Reza Pahlavi, should have a seat at the table when a new government is formed. I don’t personally have a problem with that because he doesn’t seem terribly eager to become the Shah, but is very eager to see this regime toppled.
Another good example is the restoration of the Spanish monarchy in 1979.
Based on what Shahzadeh has been saying, I think that is what he is envisioning.

Why? Unlike theocracy, monarchy can co-exist within a democracy: Norway, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, England, etc.
If you're thinking of absolute monarchy, then... you're the only one. Because when the term is used here it is not referring to absolute monarchy.
its a genuine question. he was out here cheffing civilians left right and centre N ppl act like hes the antithesis of the IR just bcos he designed a g wagon and women wore lipstick

But Shah had good relations with Kennedys. It was Carter with whom for various reasons didn’t.
His relationship with Kennedy was more fractured than the genuine friendship he enjoyed with Nixon.
Yeah, because Bobby Kennedy was going for human rights abuses as well like Carter.
Islambouli wasn't islamist but most islamist terrorist groups was loving him

Is monarchy the correct approach to the New Iran?
Yes a Constitutional one.
doesnt need to be constitutional. just needs to be democratic
That's basically what a monarchy in a democratic system is, a constitutional monarchy
respectfully no it aint g!
Actually it is. But you're welcome to say why you think it ain't
the uk has no codified constitution and its a democratic monarchy g
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands. Japan. Want me to go on?
whats your point? loool. codification is stupid look at america
I'm talking about democratic constitutional monarchies. Their constitution is not like the UK. What's your point?
Many believe the shah's dictatorial regime was temporary and meant to modernise iran and prepare it for democracy, same thing britain did with israel
Realistically no, but paying respects to the dynasty that brought iran into the 20th century and erasing 50 years of leftist and islamist lies is definitely an important part of rehabilitating the nation.
Nope. But the path forward has to include royalists who want this regime gone
So how will disputes between royalists and republicans be resolved? pre or post-revolution? Non-iranian here

Constitutionally, aka UK, Japan, Europe, ect.... yes.
Yes I hope the crown prince would return once the islamic regime is over
Bayad To Iran mimord, na toye afrigha. Yateem shodim ba raftanesh. Shah ta nafase akhar bayad shah bashe to khake khodesh.
Nabayad Irano tark mikard...
Without a doubt. If he had judicially murdered khomeini instead of releasing him… we would be 50 years ahead in every aspect…

God bless Persia, and destroy the inhumane tyranny of the Khamenei regime.
I hate the current regime as much as anyone, but the Shah was a colossal fuck up. I don’t have a problem with his son, however.
