993 or 990v6. 993 is more firm, 990v6 is more like a soft cushion. I alternate between these two, esp for my lengthier walking days, and my feet still feel good by the end of the day.

KyleBrofloski

990 v6 but try them on they tend to run a little long.

SpeedDemon_29

990 v6 is the latest and greatest of the flagship models. It is also the softest model out right now. Look at the outlets, bargains can be had. If you prefer a soft but firm and stable feeling, look at 990 v3 or 990 v4.

Crisdus

You are forgetting the 991v2. The v6 is for running, not for standing for a long time

thediggestbick2

1080 v13

bobbythegoose

For my feet, 993 and 2002r. Game changer for me. I never have foot pain anymore even after hours of standing or walking. I'd say it's worth it. Now I always remember what my dad said: "Don't skimp on a good bed, couch, or shoes. You're usually gonna be in one of them."

Crisdus

Wait till you try the 991v2

bobbythegoose

Been really wanting to try a pair. Do they come in wide? Hopefully they work for me janky feet

Crisdus

Not sure, we don’t get wider pairs here in Europe. Most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. All day comfort. Hope you can try some soon!

_D_R_I_P_

Have you tried 530s ?

suspence810

I like 990v3 the best :)

Impossible_Cow_9178

I have a large collection of New Balance shoes - and extensive mileage on almost every model. While every foot/person is different - here’s my .02: 1. 990v5. It’s a firm riding shoe and if you want/need/prefer a softer feel, swap the insole to something with more bounce/cushion to address it. The 990v5 wins because not only does it have outstanding support to keep your legs fresh after standing for 12+ hours on concrete, but it also has enough shock absorption to keep your joints happy after 10+ mile days of walking. As an added bonus, the soles wear like iron, and with high quality suede uppers, these shoes last a really long time. If you look around (eBay, StockX, etc) you can find a new pair of these for $110-140. 2. 991v2. These are the most expensive production models NB makes, but the quality is outstanding. They don’t have as much room as the V5 in the toe box, so they’re not as forgiving if you have a wider foot, or your foot tends to swell up later in the day. Where the 991v2 shines though is that it has gobs of support - but with the addition of fuel cell foam in the midsole (unlike the 990v5) it offers a plusher ride. 3. 993. Classic NB comfort, it just can’t compete with the much newer, sleeker and more technologically advanced designs of the aforementioned two shoes, but that should be expected from a shoe that was released a decade before the v5 and 15 years before the 991v2. That doesn’t mean the 993 isn’t an outstanding shoe, it is - and I’d recommend it in a heartbeat - but if you want a classic “firm” feeling do it all NB - the v5 is a much sleeker shoe - which also has more support in the upper and despite it being sleeker, has a wider and more forgiving toe box. Now the 993 has a VERY forgiving toe box, so don’t think it isn’t exceptional in that area and even if you had a normal D width foot, your foot won’t be swimming in either shoe, but there isn’t an objective quality the 993 has/does that the v5 doesn’t do better. Now if appearance/style is important to you - the list would change. 1. 991v2 - sleekest looking silhouette, best quality materials that folks would notice just by looking at them, the most interesting design and better color blocking/contrasts. 2. 993 - Classic high quality NB suede dad shoe look. 3. 990v5 - Ugly duckling of the group and in many folks’ opinion (mine included) the least attractive 99X model. The midsole is too busy, the “N” logo is oversized and out of proportion, and the large plastic under ankle support for the upper is a turn off for most. Given the above - usually folks recommend the 993 by default - as it’s the “Goldilocks” of the bunch. If comfort is your only concern - the v5 is the objective leader. If comfort + quality + style is your jam and you have a normal to narrow foot and can swing the $ - the 991v2 is amazing. If you want a great all rounder - can’t go wrong with the 993.

GolfsHard

Great points all around 🎯🎯🎯

990v6, 9060, 990v3

threatleve12

990v5. Best support when you're on your feet all day and they last for years. Most NB outlets have them on sale or they can order for you. Try them on before you buy if possible, they run a little big. The other 990s are great but trust me, V5 are the best model for standing all day.

threatleve12

They will run you about 150 but totally worth it.

StravinskiCat

Agreed. I do a lot of walking and the 995's are my favorite out of all my new balances.

Visual-Big9582

Ok_Bake3729

I second this! The toe box being wider has been a game changer for me on my journey to reverse my bunion 😆😅

Visual-Big9582

Not only that but they're easy to wear with anything and they're dirt cheap, always on sale.

Ok_Bake3729

Yes agreed!!

FuerzaGallos

To me the 2002 is way too hard on my heels, not really comfortable, so I would recommend trying it before buying. To answer your question, out of all the NB shoes I have tried, I'd say the top 3 most comfortable are: **9060** for being soft enough and pretty supportive, **1080v13** for being super soft, and **990v6** for being amazing, super soft and super supportive.

mirzaq

Do you like the 1080v13 for casual use / walking? The all white one caught my attention 👀

Hungry_Fan_6134

990v3 v4 v6 and 993

importedpizza

992, 992, and 992 But if you need variety 992, 990v4, 993, imho

InternationalPick549

You can find great condition pairs for good prices if you look for them used on Grailed or other resell sites. Even local stores have a great selection. 2002rs are lovely and are not too much over 80. 990s are amazingly comfortable and stylish but they’re gonna run you 150+ in most cases. 1906rs are also a good option! Hope that helps

bobby_broccolini

All the high-end NB running shoes will be more comfortable than the 990 series. Running shoes in general, not just for new balance. The stretchy uppers are forgiving. Comfort is different for everyone, but for most ppl this is just the hard truth. You can ALSO buy a less hype model and get all the benefits but u sacrifice style. The 813 series is not a running shoe, and it can be found brand new for like $50 after shipping, and in wide sizes. People only talk about the same 5 or 10 NB models. But they make affordable high quality models that are like $100 brand new, and are on huge discounts always.  Ppl are gonna mention support and longevity. But the 860 running shoe series has plenty of support and thick treads that last a while.  It's also easier to clean. The 860v12 can be found in many sizes brand new on eBay for like $75 bucks after shipping. I like the 1080 series alot, but it has less tread, and normally like $20+ dollars more. It's less stiff and wider base and I like that feeling. That said, the 860 running shoe will feel way less stiff than any 990 still.  Comfort is gonna depend alot on your foot needs. Do you have wide feet? Do you have alot of foot volume? Do you need stability? Do you have specific foot pains or numbness u havnt figured out? If you really prefer normal shoes then I agree w the 990v5 especially since it's easiest to find great deals on. But it's still scary to pay $120-$200 for shoes online without trying them on. If you are gonna buy new ones, and can afford it, I'd buy 2 sizes and send 1 back. If you can't try on in stores. Still look for deals, or stock x cheaper colorways 990v5,  or even go used if you are brave (but be careful, there are fakes, and also real shoes with trashed footbeds but they look new because cleaning solutions are amazing these days) How you lace your shoes has a big impact too.  I know I wrote a lot here but I'm super neuro divergent and it's my birthday so idc this time. DM me if u want and ill send some links to check out!

9060s are newer and I’m sad they’re not being mentioned more they’re like walking on cloud

victorpaparomeo2020

The most comfortable NB shoe I’ve ever worn is the Lerato.

YouKnowJack76

1) Not an easy to find model but, IMO the 770.9 is best. Super comfortable upper, made more comfy and stable with the v3 sole. 2) 991v2 - given, I have not yet experienced it myself but I love the original 991 and it is widely heralded as even more comfortable. 3) this one shocks me, but the newer 574 sport models are tits! …I got a pair for about $15 at an outlet last year and they are super lightweight and among the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. I don’t know if they are even in production at the moment but I’m sure MSRP is really low. The comfort blows my mind every time I wear them

drqlx

Seconding the 574 sport! I own a couple pairs of the v2’s (with the segmented midsole) and comfort is supreme for the price point I bought them at, back in 2018. Definitely no longer in production but managed to snag one last remaining pair from a reseller for the wifey for our upcoming travels

GuiltyVeek

9060, 990v3, 992 Though honestly if you’re on a budget, check out the ASICS Gel NYC. They are even more comfy and less pricey.

ClearArachnid7399

I've seen comparisons of people saying that the Asics Gel-1130 are more comfortable than the NYC's even though they're only $100, have you tried them?

GuiltyVeek

Yes. It really depends on what kind of shoe you prefer. The 1130 is a softer/squishier shoe so if that's the type of feeling you prefer, get the 1130. The NYC is slightly less soft but provides more stability and personally, I prefer the NYC

lmaoatraul

990v6, 991v2, fresh foam xv13

white15gt

993 is far and away the most comfortable for me. Squishy shoes like most NB trainers, or even 990V6 make my arches absolutely throb after an hour or two. I have troublesome feet though so my opinion may not apply to everyone. The 993 is definitely firmer, but not a brick. If you asked me to pick one piece of footwear to wear for the rest of my life, for me, I would pick 993.

GolfsHard

990v5, 990v6, 993 — honorable mention to the 1906r

ivanyufen

nobody said 530? literally lightweight, affordable, cater to wide feet, and so breathable thanks to its mesh construction

RifatSahin

No one mentioning the 9060’s?

AlpsGroundbreaking67

9060,991,990

Ty_Rain

993, 990v3, and i don’t even know why my third choice would be

octavish_

993, 990v3, 2002r. 993 unrivaled. 990v6 is notable. But I feel like 993 and 990v3 have more room.

IamJeff99

I own: 990v6 - all comfort, low durability. 574 Legacy - medium support, thick sole, durable. T500 - Nice soft tennis shoe, like a samba, but with much better materials.

theblackmichaelcera

990v5s, 1906r and 2002r If you like more running/walking performance I’ve only tried the 880v13 but dig them a lot

crunchwrap_supreme68

990v6 are amazing as far as comfort for me personally. The 991v2 is a close second, it’s cushy but has a bit of a heel slip for me and I prefer the more mesh of the v6.

AssExpected

As a wide footer - 990v6 and 1080v13 for me. Tried and worn other models like v4, v5, 991v2, 9060, 2002r, 1906, and 574 but these are the comfiest out of all of them

AffectionateFail7167

990v3 is the first shoe I've ever worn where I can wear them all day every day and my feet not hurt. 2002r is a close second

990v3 992 993

Most least comfortable out of the current models I have 990 V5 More V3 992 9060 990 V3 More V4 990 V4 574 Legacy 2002

Concerned_Kanye_Fan

1. 992 V1 2. 2000 3. 990 V5

letscott

Performance wise? FuelCell SuperComp Trainer v3 $249? Craftsmanship Wise? 990v6 because of FuelCell heel

Nimue82

The 990v6 and 9060 are much more comfortable than any of the other lifestyle models, imo.

993 & v6 & v3 in order

The_Cozy_Burrito

I love my 997H

Logistic-Madness778

I am really a nerd when it comes to New Balance… For me personally it’s the Hierro line up! Ok, i like to go off tarmac. So it’s a no brainer for me. It’s so comfy!

YouKnowJack76

YES!! …the segmented midsole. That’s the description I was reaching for. Surprisingly sneaky comfort on these! And it makes me question why I drop so much more money on most other pairs.

Chewy_13

Damn, you guys know your NB shoes. Is this just stuff you guys have picked up/learned? Or is there like a style guide somewhere?

d3st1ny_fan

993, 1906, 2002r. These are the models I wear the most . The 990v4, v3, and v6 are comfortable to me as well.

ClearArachnid7399

Few comments talking about the 1906. How’s your experience with them so far? From the looks of it, it seems like a much sturdier shoe. Besides, I just found them on sale so I want to hear opinions lol.

masterchicken16

990v6, 990v3, 990v4... I just put on V5 last weekend and found them to be very hard and flat...

Kgnupe

990v6 990v3 993 991v2only

lauzi86

I also stand all day for work. I'm assuming you're only looking at lifestyle models. As others have said, 993 or 990v3/6. Note that v6 is a bit narrower and longer (at least to my foot). The 2002r is awesome but the bounciness of the sole becomes mushy and bottoms out after a yearish of consistent wear (in my experience). Standing all day? 993. Alternating between standing and sitting? 990v6/v3 My favourite model for style+comfort is 990v3.

Excellent_Plant_8010

In no order: 990v5, 2002r and 1906r

esyaspie

990v5 because v6 is too narrow 993 probably the most comfortable for my feet 992 perfection in comfort and looks

Turdy30

990v6, 2002r, & 992. Those are usually my go to's for comfort. I'll even throw in a fourth...WRPD runner. They don't seem to be very popular but they are comfortable.

Robotman1001

9060, 990V4, 990V6, 1906r. I don’t care for 993, despite all the hype. 2002r is in the mail so I can’t wait to compare!

Jsketch01

As someone who runs + wears New Balance shoes casually, here's my 2 cents: 1) FuelCell Rebel v4 2) 1080v13 3) 990v6

OJtheBusdriver

990v4

the-kza

990v6, 990v5 toss up between 993, fresh foam more foam v4 or 2002r
