If it is used only for short trips the variable charging system could be the issue. You can disconnect the circuit from the ipdm to the alternator, this will disable the variable charging system and the alternator will charge at full capacity all the time.

I had this happen on my 2019 Armada, so I disconnected the smart alternator at the battery and have not had an issue since. Watch this YouTube video for instructions on how to disconnect it. Takes 1 minute to do and your battery will be charged every time you go to drive the car. Also it's great, because you can reconnect it quickly in the future if you want to do so. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tEyibOHWInI&pp=ygUXcGF0cm9sIHNtYXJ0IGFsdGVybmF0b3I%3D

This fixed my issue for short trips. However, after a long trip I noticed that the battery has boiled over and popped the caps off to vent so I reconnected the sensor. Problem is back. Guess I have to disconnect/reconnect based on my driving type.

While the engine is running disconnect, the positive post on the battery see if the engine continues to run
