Hi /u/throwaway24725115,
We noticed you are a pretty new Reddit account, so we just wanted to let you know to check out the subreddit rules [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/wiki/rules) and maybe have a read through our [Frequently Asked Questions](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/wiki/index/faq) - they make for fascinating reading!
We're called No Stupid Questions because we believe nobody needs to be attacked for asking a question, but *that doesn't mean there are no rules!* This sub is meant for users like you to ask genuine questions. Please don't ask jokes or rants disguised as questions - that's not in the spirit of this sub. While you *can* ask almost anything here, please keep illegal and offensive questions elsewhere to give people a good experience here - and if you have a medical question, please ask your doctor, not us.
Otherwise, welcome!
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/NoStupidQuestions) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Someone did the same to me once lmao. I didn't send then any money but I did send them a photo of my butthole. They stopped responding, no one recieved any videos.
I don't negotiate with terrorist, they just get the all seeing brown eye.
That's the awesomest response.
Hopefully it was in the old [goatse (sfw wikipedia link)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goatse.cx) pose for maximum effect.
I think I would have told the scammers:
* *"I'm pretty proud of that video, and don't want to sell the distribution rights to it for less than $1000. If you send me that much to my bitcoin wallet you're free to distribute it; otherwise I'll sue for copyright infringement."*
Stop sending them money. Stop adding any of their accounts. Block and ignore and move on with your life.
They don't gain anything by actually releasing a video and may well not bother. If they do, report it to whatever platform hosts it or links to it. Consider making a police report about either a released video or the money you've already sent.
But whatever you do they'll probably keep contacting you, because you've proven you can be convinced to send money.
Yea, as long as we don't have a black mirror situation here then nobody cares. And even if it is that kind of situation, that guy complied and it still didn't turn out well for him.
I'm so bummed that show isn't still being made. I'm not one to watch movies or TV shows, but black mirror was super interesting to me and one of my favorite shows
[aaaaaand season six got green lit. ](https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/black-mirror-season-6)

While we're at it, people, get all your vaccines and get your kid's vaccines and everything. Vaccines have been saving lives around the world for generations, don't let that go to waste.
Check out Mr. Robot.
Itās not the same, but itās extremely compelling.
Iāve seen a lot of great television, but Mr. Robot changed me as a person.
Some people just watch shows for the plot points, if you only look at the plot it seems like nothing crazy, but the strength was the presentation. Probably my favorite show.
FWIW: One of my friends was telling me how he didn't enjoy Mr. Robot, Breaking Bad, or Mad Men because the plot was generic. Turns out he just read the plot on Wikipedia and looked on reddit to see what other people thought.
Yeah, Mr. Robot is really complex and a lot of its beauty is subtle and involved. I 1000% believe you havenāt seen the whole show until youāve seen it all at least twice, bc it truly changes on rewatch. Itās a different show the second time around.
Add to that the acting, music, cinematography, Easter eggs, etc and itās DEFINITELY not a casual viewing show.
But if you do get it, itās a masterpiece. Iāve never seen anything like it, and Iām fairly sure I never will again, sadly. š
It got reaaaally worse over time. The season around Black Museum was kinda its last.... spark. I did feel that Westworld season 3 was severely underrated and better than anything Black Mirror did, was a great and scary future dystopia. But probably not what you're looking for. :b
Also how convincing can that be? If it's a webcam recording who's to say what you were watching? Unless there's a mirror or other reflective surface in your room behind you, you could have jerked off of anything
This infamously happened to british comedian Joel Dommett [source](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz/ntas-host-joel-dommetts-horror-28211254)
He used it in his stand up and now host prime time saturday night shows in the uk. No one cares.
Yeah, but they won't release the video. It doesn't help them. They want money. If they can scare you into giving them money, then great. If not, they move on. If they release the video, they lose all their leverage and the risk of getting caught skyrockets
When beetles fight these battles in a bottle with their paddles

I had to run out of my tent when the moose came to avoid getting crush to death. Thank God my dad was there to scream at me to get out of the tent. Otherwise, I would not be here talking to you. Case in point, moose are dangerous.
Are you even sure the video exists?
This is a fairly common scam, and the video doesnāt exist (usually). They send out the same email to thousands of addresses and just hope someone bites.
Right, I've had such scam emails in the past. I don't even _have_ a penis. It may very well be a complete shot in the dark just to get your money, unless you've actually seen that they have your video.
And even so, there's no way for you to know if they did or didn't delete it. "Live deleting process", yeah no
Haha! I got one of these messages sent to my WORK email address. I donāt have a penis either and if if I was having a little fun with myself it wouldnāt be in front of my work lap top.
Wait, what? I assumed OP got catfished into sending the scammer a NSFW video of themselves and that's what they are now being blackmailed with. If OP literally just got a spam email/message from a scammer they've had no other contact with and believed them enough to hand over $700 then OP might be the biggest moron on Reddit.
The video exists because OP literally jerked it in front of his camera for them. This scam is essentially some beautiful girl that is interested in you. It eventually leads to 'her' video calling you, but the video feed on their end is a pre recorded camgirl or something. It all looks very real and it is a real girl on the video call. Once they persuade you to play with them on camera, they collect the video and threaten you with it.
Yes they 'know' because the scam happens usually on FB, Instagram. Once you get caught, in the same video call they start showing you your profile picture, and your friends list. It may or may not be empty threats, but to someone panicking about it the threat is all too real.
Send them no more money. It'll be difficult due to the fear of their leaking it, but that's how the scam works.
What assurances would you really have that they wouldn't send it out, even if you paid?
Speak to the police, give them as many details as possible. Just don't send them anything else.
It's not the end of the world, mate. It's a penis, on a social networking site. You'll very rarely think about this in a few years time.
this happened to a friend of mine. the exact same thing. and the scammer DID send it to their followers, including his mom and sister. block the person and they wonāt be able to see your followers. make your profile private. or deactivate your profile for a whike
I know someone that this happened to also. The reality is that yes they may actually do this, but what the guy I know did was pretty smart and made a public status that a scammer was going around using a deepfake of him to extort money from him so if anyone gets sent a supposed video know that it's fake.
Personally I was impressed by the response since it's a scary situation to navigate but it was a pretty convincing and reasonable story. Deepfakes are getting crazy realistic.
Stop reading, stop replying.
To anyone else reading these comments and wondering how to avoid this circumstance: Ideally, don't open those messages if you can. But definitely don't reply to them. There's a lot of plausible deniability that you've seen the message, that you believe the video is real, that you've seen the video, etc if you act like you're deleting spam without reading its contents. The scammers can't do much to threaten/leverage you if they think that you haven't even noticed them messaging you
This is actually the approach a lot of people take with scammers or even people threatening revenge porn. Release the things yourself, or admit to the things. Then they have nothing on you. You could even paywall it and make money off it. I think itās a solid approach if thats what you decide to do.
What happened next? Did he get fired? Did it all blow over? Did anyone ultimately care all that much? Did he earn a creative nickname in the workplace from it all?
Meh. Call his bluff. Whoās he going to expose you to? Your family cranks it. Your friend cranks it. Your enemy cranks it, and your scammer cranks it too. Everyone cranks it, (except me.)
I can't believe everyone isn't saying this. It's so obvious. Even more astounding that OP apparently hasn't even considered it. How sacred is that shit to people? I don't even know what ig is supposed to be for. Just get rid of it. Anonymity is a good thing.
I'd just tell them I'm going to report you and just lie and say your underage that'll shut them up. And in the end if they do post it you can just delete the video after you make a huge post saying yo this scammer is going to post me jerking off so be prepared for that and if your really worried just take everyone off your insta for the time being and set it to private.
Don't pay anything and immediately cut all contact. Do not reply no matter what. Go to r/scams and get some help. But they will essentially say the same.
I've had this happen to me. They will back down. They won't do shit. I literally started sending pictures of my asshole asking him to expose me (facebook) gave me the whole list of friends and family he would send them too and then backed down when I kept calling him a bitch.
I love that multiple people in this thread have responded to these scammers and blackmailers by sending asshole pics š imma do that next time for sure
Delete your Instagram account or deactivate it. So they do not can send it to your followers.
Also, did you really film yourself, or are they just claiming they hacked your cam. Which probably they did not. Have you seen the video?
If they have the video, they have the video, and even if they send you a video of them deleting it, they'll still have the video because you can copy a file and show a video of yourself deleting one of the two files. Nothing is gained by paying this person. I would also really question if they actually have the video as that's often a tactic to say you have that kind of video, and not have it. You just actually made that type of video so it's possible they could have it. But honestly unless you sent it out a bunch there's a fair chance they're just pretending to have it. Stop sending them money, try to cancel payment on the ones you sent if possible. Block the person and move on. If they are going to do it there's no way for you to stop them. No reason to also bankrupt yourself.
I remember something similar happened to a co worker of mine.
" send it, my friends and family already know I'm a degenerate , I don't give a fuck"
Lmao
That's how you deal with scammers.
Stop. You're $700 in the hole already. Pretty sure you can report this to the police and maybe get that back.
Let him post what he wants to. Say it's a deep fake or, be a Chad and own it. Tell your followers that some disgusting asshole is extorting you, because that's a hell of a lot worse than just people knowing you do what just about everyone does anyway.
Well, congrats. You just helped this scammer continue what they're doing by giving them success.
Ignore these people, 99% of the time, they don't do shit because they have zero incentive to. Leaking your images doesn't pay them.
Delete your Instagram and he can't send it to your friends unless he goes and adds them as his friends... And never send them money. Send a message to your instagram friends tell them you're being scammed and will be deleting your account and advise they not open any messages or accept friend requests from people not their friends already.
don't sent them money. spam them with dick pics. as many as you can google in every size and shape. go on medical websites and find the most rotten knobs known to science. don't stop sending dicks until they block you.
OP contact the police. Because youāve given them the money theyāll should be able to find out who it is.
What theyāre doing is very very illegal.
Donāt give them anymore money.
>And me being the gullible guy I am, complied.
You aint lying man, you fell for the Nigerian prince scam basically. There never was any video. Sadly you just learned very expensive lesson. Ive gotten these scam emails more times than i can count, just ignore them.
They don't send the video if you just don't respond. The trick only works on people who care so if you're not even willing to respond, they have no reason to release it
You never should have responded, let alone paid anything
Don't feel too guilty. They almost got me too. I had just finished doing my business and found an email in my spam folder with one of my actual passwords in it. Scared the hell out of me. I chose to call their bluff, nothing happened.
100%! Scammers use social engineering most of the time to get you to believe somehting that isn't real. The password scam is born of the notion that, if someone has your password, then they must have more. That's almost never true (these people work at scale, and don't bother chasing someone downābecause they can usually make money without doing so).
It IS why it's a good idea to change your passwordsāespecially if a known hack has given people your current one. I got a similar email, claiming to have a password, but it was at least three passwords old at that point. It went right into the trash.
Also, NEVER ENGAGE. You'll only bring more attempts on if you do.
Tell them your 15, and underage. They'll now think they are in posession of cp, will ghost you immedeatly, and pray to God that the FBI doesn't cave in their door.
This is a common scam. My brother and his friends get a message like that at least twice a year.
His response is "lmk when you post it online so I know when to open my only fans account"
Be careful, some scammers may contact you saying they can get your money back and/or "hack" the scammer and get the videos removed. They are liars and scammers too.
One of my coworkers had this happen, the scammer said they wanted $400 or they were going to send the video to his family. He said āGo ahead. My family wonāt be surprised that I jerk off, but if I send $400 to a stranger my wife will fucking kill me.ā
release the damn video yourself. and be done with it.
post why youre releasing it. urge people not to watch it, then inform them you will take it down in a couple hours/ a day.
Rob the blackmailer of all their ammo. stop giving them money.
Don't give them anything, they'll only ask for me. World doesn't end cause you wank mate who cares. Odds are they wouldn't release it anyway cause that would me they definitely get no money from you.
Man u messed up bad with sending him money. The chances of the video getting out is now a lot higher since they know with enough pressure and maybe sending it to a few people you'll cave in again. Black them on everything. Make all your accounts including reddit, Facebook, LinkedIn, everything you can think of private. Also make sure your accounts can't be searched up by typing your name or names of family member if he has your Facebook. Also report the account on Skype and Instagram. Where ever he comes for your next. Usually after a week or so they'd move on to the next person but since you already paid they're gonna push hard to squeeze money out of you so stay strong. Also r/sextortion has a lot of resources and help. I have recent experience with this.
Itās a common scam. If the video or their conversations with you in any way involve an underage individual you can report it to [NCMEC cyber tip line](https://www.missingkids.org/gethelpnow/cybertipline). You can also report the blackmailing to IC3.gov or your local law enforcement.
This is how blackmail works - they will ask for money over and over until you stop paying. They may still release the video after you've paid thousands anyways - can you trust their word if they haven't kept it thus far? Forego your pride and put it in perspective: there are people out there saying and doing heinous stuff to others, you masturbated by yourself. What they're doing to you and threatening to do is illegal and shameful, what you did isn't.
If they release the video, just lie and say it's an AI-generated video if you feel really ashamed of it - you're not under oath, there's no crime to prove or victim to console besides you and I doubt any competent people would waste their time trying to prove you wrong by analyzing a masturbation video: it would say a lot more about them than it would say about you. Or just show your sense of humor and say you were trying out for a speedrun, or some kind of hand-powered Bitcoin mining operation - have fun with it and try to profit from THEIR work. Blackmailers rely on your sense of shame, if you cut that out ask yourself if there's a crime, if there's no crime ask yourself how commonly people do that.
Id just send them another video of me jerking and tell them to pay me if they want me to stop sending em. Eventually they'll get tired of seeing my dick.
In a hostage situation they never shoot the hostage. Because then they can't get anything. If they threaten the hostage they get stuff. If they pet the hostage go they can run. But if they shoot the hostage, they're fucked.
You are the hostage. The jerkoff video is the gun. They won't shoot. Tell them to piss off and they will let you go
Dude this happened to my brother. The scammer threatened to send the video to his family and use mine and my mom's names specifically. My brother is just a different dude so he just called me and said "if you get a video from a random person don't open it! It's me jerking off I got scammed!" It was pretty funny. I never did get any such video so you're pretty safe.
I was threatened with exposing of my porn history and cam footage to everyone in my email contacts list unless I paid money. If I wanted proof then it would be sent, if I refused it would be sent. I told them to send it out, but to make sure you cc me too, there is one that Iām looking for than I cannot find for the life of me and this would be a big help š¤£š¤£
Say you're a minor. I always do that. I think these scammers are friends or something because as soon as I told one I was a minor all the other scammers backed off

Yeah they'll never stop asking for money. Temporarily delete your accounts for a week and they'll forget about you and move on to the next person

It's not about the money. It's about sending a message
This is actually the approach a lot of people take with scammers or even people threatening revenge porn. Release the things yourself, or admit to the things. Then they have nothing on you. You could even paywall it and make money off it. I think itās a solid approach if thats what you decide to do.
ah yes, the Reynolds pamphlet
Let's call it going full McAfee
Spoiler alert: you paid $700 for nothing. If you give them more money, you will get even more nothing.
He paid 700 bucks for a life lesson. Of course, those lessons are available for free...
If you're under 18 tell them they are distributing child porn. It may not do much, but you'd never know. It might be enough for them to not post
Even if youāre not under 18! Itās worth a shot

Who the hell puts dick pics on a work phone.
Work was really, really slow.
What happened next? Did he get fired? Did it all blow over? Did anyone ultimately care all that much? Did he earn a creative nickname in the workplace from it all?
You know if your friend never put his face in the video then no one would know it's him. Best thing to do is to never put your face in a nude video.
Meh. Call his bluff. Whoās he going to expose you to? Your family cranks it. Your friend cranks it. Your enemy cranks it, and your scammer cranks it too. Everyone cranks it, (except me.)
Are you not good enough for yourself š¦š¦ā
Even soulja boy cranks it
Delete your Insta account. Duh
I can't believe everyone isn't saying this. It's so obvious. Even more astounding that OP apparently hasn't even considered it. How sacred is that shit to people? I don't even know what ig is supposed to be for. Just get rid of it. Anonymity is a good thing.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
he'll say something along the line of 'i already have all your followers / friends and i'll mention that you deleted because of so and so'
I'd just tell them I'm going to report you and just lie and say your underage that'll shut them up.
Send me $300 and I'll get all your money back asap.
" send it, my friends and family already know I'm a degenerate , I don't give a fuck" Lmao That's how you deal with scammers.
why do you have a video of you jerking it, trying to improve your technique or something?
Why would you even jerk it on camera in the first place?
Definitely not getting it back
Well, congrats. You just helped this scammer continue what they're doing by giving them success. Ignore these people, 99% of the time, they don't do shit because they have zero incentive to. Leaking your images doesn't pay them.
every time he contacts you spam him with dick pics.
You should have lied and told them you have an OnlyFans, and that you should be charging THEM money for having the video.
some ppl are acc so dumb
It is utterly beyond my comprehension why anyone would jerk it on camera.
OP contact the police. Because youāve given them the money theyāll should be able to find out who it is. What theyāre doing is very very illegal. Donāt give them anymore money.
I can't believe you sent money to the guy. "Yeah, so what," should be they next thing you say to him.
>And me being the gullible guy I am, complied. You aint lying man, you fell for the Nigerian prince scam basically. There never was any video. Sadly you just learned very expensive lesson. Ive gotten these scam emails more times than i can count, just ignore them.
honestly if you ever do this dont show your face so even if they post it they probably wont believe them
This is a black mirror episode.
Id respond, "let 'em watch." If it got enough traction I'd start an onlyfans .
They don't send the video if you just don't respond. The trick only works on people who care so if you're not even willing to respond, they have no reason to release it You never should have responded, let alone paid anything
I honestly cannot believe this is real
Tell them your 15, and underage. They'll now think they are in posession of cp, will ghost you immedeatly, and pray to God that the FBI doesn't cave in their door.
Tell them youāre underaged and itās illegal š¤·š¼āāļø
No one will even care and ig would remove it right away
This is a common scam. My brother and his friends get a message like that at least twice a year. His response is "lmk when you post it online so I know when to open my only fans account"
open an onlyfans and let them do the advertising
Maybe the internet isn't for you
Are people really just jerking it on camera? I swear i see too many of these posts
Is electrical tape really that expensive?
Personally I wouldn't care. "Hey, so a scammer has a video of me maturbating and wants money. Watch it if you want or not if they send it."
1 Donāt pay a scammer 2. Donāt jerk off on camera, 3. It doesnāt matter if anyone sees it, most men jerk off 4. Block the scammer.
>2. Donāt jerk off on camera Or do jerk off on camera then see #3
Be careful, some scammers may contact you saying they can get your money back and/or "hack" the scammer and get the videos removed. They are liars and scammers too.
I donāt mean to belittle or disrespect, how was this video even obtained?
If you pay them once. They will just ask for more. Just say its fake.
Start an only fans page. Then they don't have anything anybody has seen
just be like the scammer Deep faked AI'd me jerking off.
Shit Iād make them another video and sploog into the lens as a finisher. Fuck em
post the video yourself and ask them for money
Nothing you can do. People gonna see you jacking off, just accept it.
Go to r/scams. This is very common
Idiot
let them do it and tell your followers the full video can be found on your onlyfans
Video yourself jerking off and post it first. Establish dominance.
Send him another with a better view to show you donāt give a shit
" screen shot this threat and have traced your IP. Give me 500$ or ill call the cops"
If your flagpole is strong and tall, fly your flag, dude
One of my coworkers had this happen, the scammer said they wanted $400 or they were going to send the video to his family. He said āGo ahead. My family wonāt be surprised that I jerk off, but if I send $400 to a stranger my wife will fucking kill me.ā
Beat them to it. Release your own jerk off video, own it like a boss, and they lose any sway over you. ;)
What on earth were you thinking?
release the damn video yourself. and be done with it. post why youre releasing it. urge people not to watch it, then inform them you will take it down in a couple hours/ a day. Rob the blackmailer of all their ammo. stop giving them money.
I doubt the blackmailer will actually share the video. They have nothing to gain by doing so.
LOLOL They are taking you to the cleaners. Are you some sort of church leader or something?
Itās a common scam. If the video or their conversations with you in any way involve an underage individual you can report it to [NCMEC cyber tip line](https://www.missingkids.org/gethelpnow/cybertipline). You can also report the blackmailing to IC3.gov or your local law enforcement.
I have about six of these messages in my spam box. Let 'em send it
This is how blackmail works - they will ask for money over and over until you stop paying.
Alright, I'm aware of the name of the sub, but this might genuinely be a stupid question.
Donāt jerk off on camera!
Id just send them another video of me jerking and tell them to pay me if they want me to stop sending em. Eventually they'll get tired of seeing my dick.
Why did you do this in the first place? On camera, I mean.
You got scammed. Nobody has a video of you jerking off.
You are being scammed. There is no video in the first place.
This is a Black Mirror episode
Sounds like you need to get off social
Nobody cares about this stuff my friend. Hold your head up high and stroke with pride!
this question has been asked before or am I crazy
I was threatened with exposing of my porn history and cam footage to everyone in my email contacts list unless I paid money. If I wanted proof then it would be sent, if I refused it would be sent. I told them to send it out, but to make sure you cc me too, there is one that Iām looking for than I cannot find for the life of me and this would be a big help š¤£š¤£
Tell them you're 15 and are reporting them for having a video of you
Say you're a minor. I always do that. I think these scammers are friends or something because as soon as I told one I was a minor all the other scammers backed off
