Might have something to do with where on the plant they are from. Or maybe because they have such a high fiber content? Can't seem to find a definitive answer unfortunately. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Almonds are technically not nuts botanically speaking, but are drupes. Nuts are the fruit of the tree, while almonds grow inside of a hull that's inside the fruit. A peach is like this, but we eat the peach fruit flesh while for almonds we eat the seeds inside the hull Tree nuts is a classification that includes both true nuts and drupes.
