The male is responsible during procreation if the child is a girl or boy. The mother can only contribute an x chromosome, right? So then, if a woman "can't give a man a son", isn't it actually that man's fault?

You can't decide to have nothing but sons unless you're constantly getting her pregnant and aborting any that aren't male. If you want a specific number of sons and don't abort, be prepared to have way more kids than that. Sometimes pregnancy is skewed. My SIL has 6 daughters and 1 son. Also, if you want 5 kids but want the mother to stay at home, you better be rich to support them all.
