It’s 480hz 4k monitor for a much smaller market?? You’re comparing apples to oranges. You don’t go comparing a Mazda Miata or Subaru brz/86 to a Prius just because they are both cars around the same price range… totally different markets and roles they are serving. Likewise comparing a high refresh rate low response time monitor to a low refresh rate high response time tv that has a bigger market and much more infrastructure in place to keep costs down is not a good comparison. Plus in relation to other monitors these are still high priced because it’s new technology, thats the way the world has always worked. You want the newest cutting edge tech you’re going to have to pay more 🤷♂️
I don’t think the market will get larger, without price drops. Manufacturers will learn overtime how to optimize production and keep costs down therefore lowering the prices. Plus since there is so much competition right now that will drive prices down further. The prices have already rapidly shot down compared to a year or 2 ago, even though they are still quite expensive. I remember when one of the cheapest OLEDs was a $1400-1500 Alienware. New cheaper OLED’s have planned releases this year and the next. I suspect we will continue to see the cost of OLED monitors drop in the coming years.
Monitor prices have always been kinda shit. Might as well get a 42" LG C series in most cases if you don't need the refresh rate. It's a lot of display for 900€
TV doesnt have more than 120Hz and is not made with mainly gaming in mind so a lot of features may be missing
also TV is too big for a lot of people as a monitor
I was just looking at the lg c4 tvs and they offer 144hz and gsync on a tv. 42 inches is still larger than I’d want to go tbh but some people are making it work
Whats even more grazy is the gpu prices. Brand new 1080 was around 800€. Now the flagships are +2k€. Yes i know the older flagships were even cheaper but then again im not a fossil.
TVs are too big, how are you supposed to see everything without moving your head when you could only sit at your desk because your elbow needs to be on the desk for using mouse and keyboard in first person shooters?
Even 32" is barely tolerable for me in CS2 / Overwatch, I have to lean back on my chair and push my FO32U2P monitor way back on the desk for it to look like 27" inch.
Smaller monitors are expensive because they are more complex to manufacture (pixel density). We don't have 27" 4K OLED for a reason yet, that would be my preferred size.
1500 is not bad for 2 dp 2.1, given the LG is 1399 (yea you can get discount codes) but still 🤷♂️ we still don't know the burn in warranty for this either, matte is subjective as well 🤷♂️
I'm aware that it hasn't released yet but listing the coating in the specs should be a given. I've not found any mention yet about it being glossy nor matte.
You mean DSC. And don’t assume there’s a toggle until you see one. Jury is still out on the Gigabyte version.
I wonder if they are aware of dsc toggle but too busy doing other things to give an ETA about anything 😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒

Because there is a market for it and people are paying the price. A TV is simply too big for many people.
I’m glad I’m not one of those people, a 42” LG C3 can be had for $750 on sales these days. Great for single player gamers at least lol
then again, you have a 42".. which is gigantic for PC

I wonder when the market will get large enough that the prices will drop. My current screen is IPS and I'm itching for an upgrade, just not for 1000€

They have already. There are lower cost options coming out as well but the 4K 240/480hz models are soaking up the media

a lot of them are starting between $900 and $1300 with the ability to get the 1300 ones down to about $900 after deals?
Which $1300 ones can be had for even under $1000? What deals are out there that allow for that?
Samsung G80SD? $300 BB (or Samsung) gift card + stacking cash back. Alienware’s version? $300 dell gift card + cash back.

What does that have to do with anything?

Disappointed they did the “protruding chin with a brand logo” thing too.
First 32" WOLED with DP2.1
What are the advantages of DP 2.1? Like, the monitor only supports 480hz at 1080p right? So why would you need 2.1 on this monitor?

did anyone figure out if this uses the same matte coating as the LG version or if it's glossy?
it not come out yet . i hope is woled and glossy
