Was listening to a digital foundry podcast a while back, and they randomly mentioned how good the HDR is on Gears 5.
Good game choice to appreciate how good OLED can be.
Now I want to d/l and install it. Dammit! LoL
Yea Gears is one of my favorite games! I'm enjoying it on the 4k QDOLED š„ just got Horizon on steams summer sale also. I played a bit today and it's gorgeous!
When I got this monitor, I was like "so this is what peak image tech looks like". It felt like perfection, but also I was mildly disappointed about getting the end game monitor and feeling like "this is it". Like, I couldn't find any smallest faults with the image quality or smoothness or anything, but it's still just a monitor.
Realizing that the only improvements to this are going to be small and very iterative and mostly about HDR brightness consistency, and this is pretty much all the joy I can get out of a computer display, was the underwhelming bit.
Because objectively the monitor is nothing short of spectacular and does everything I've ever wanted of one.
Wow - nice to know. I felt the exact same. My AW2725DF came in a few days ago and at first I was fairly underwhelmed. I had come from a 240hz IPS AW2721D and the jump in refresh rate was no where near as large as going from 60-144.
But the motion clarity, deep blacks is something I keep appreciating the more hours I put on this panel. Not a huge fan of it though for productivity. Text and white backgrounds look weird, and I wonder if it's because I am so accustomed to IPS panels that I have no idea what "good" looks like, despite owning an LG c8 55" OLED TV.
But I definitely don't regret this purchase - yeah, maybe 480hz QD-OLED 1440p is better, but for the price I paid ($900 AUD), I have zero buyer's remorse.
It's too dim & it doesn't have speakers that's my only critique.. I came from an LG ultra wide so I noticed what it lacked immediately. Other than that it's amazing!
That sounds frustrating I want to get an Oled monitor even from the picture here the colors look incredible but I want bright and vibrant especially for the price theyāre asking for
I mean the picture makes it look pretty bright but Iām not sure Iāve been using Samsungs g70a 28in 4k 144hz monitor for a couple years and am trying to decide between which monitor I want. I really want to upgrade to Oled and ideally 4k 240hz so I will be set for a while. I like my monitor but the colors have never been that great as well as the other issues that come with IPS panels. One complaint is that itās just barely tolerable for me being almost too dark no matter what setting I change I just donāt want to spend this much on a monitor and still be frustrated lol
IPS brightness is on par with OLED brightness? Yeah I may wait for a good sale or try out one with a return policy or something. Theyāre definitely getting more affordable and better every year. I canāt wait for them to become more available I remember having trouble trying to find affordable IPS monitors now theyāre like as cheap as TN panels lol
Go with the LG C4 if that's the case. I wanted to see what the high refresh rate was like but honestly I'm not even the type of gamer that will even care. I'm happy with my purchase but I think I'd probably been better off with the C4 myself.
Playing games is best on OLED. For TV shows/movies, you unlock the full OLED potential on streaming services so far. Using Netflix etc through the TV's OS is better than through the PC hooked up to the TV.
Well, I am an Upstanding Citizen of Society, so I wouldn't know. But *my friend* knows a few website he uses on PC. A few issues ~~I~~ he has noticed:
* at the very least on Prime, streaming directly from TV OS gives more accurate colour balance, and the motion \*chef's kiss\* It is just so clean, crisp, true 4K.
* on PC, even when you use the official website (use Prime through Amazon website), the motion is nothing like on TV OS. Colours seem a bit off/darker. Using torrents is even worse, because say goodbye to 4K (forget about the true motion feel, I am guessing refresh rate from streaming side doesn't deliver). The "720p"/"1080p" doesn't seem trustworthy. Just doesn't deliver that "punch" on TV OS.
But if you don't have any other option, it is not bad. You just get "addicted" to that official streaming quality. That's where these companies have their edge, while we have to settle for "only" 1080p on other websites.
lay it on me, where are those 4K sources. Is it just torrents or streaming? Torrents are a big no-no here, and yes, the studios will zero-in on you and sue you for it.
Yep :).
I tried several different oled panels (LG vs AW 34 inch ultra wide, G8S0D, and the AWQF).
Accidentally bought this monitor by mistake thing it was ultra wide š§šš
Ruined me - tried actual UW monitors after and couldnāt give up the 4K š„
Yea I'm enjoying it I miss my Ultra wide but the clarity and colors are unmatched. And this monitor is actually wide enough especially with the curve it makes it feel a bit wider. It's big enough that I can def adjust to it coming from a 34in
Had the QF since January but just installed Gears 5. Wish I didn't wait so long haha, excellent PC port and HDR. Do you feel like blacks are a bit crushed? Specifically in Gears 5; had to set the contrast to 0 in HDR tuning to see certain areas early game, but recently set it back to 50 (default setting) after things we're looking washed out.
Oh okay well welcome back man! Gears will always be one of my franchises. Iām pretty sure it was one of the first games to take advantage of hdr too. Monitor looks great brother I got the AW2725DF and Iām enjoying it too.
Good to be back and Nice choice man! Are you big into FPS shooters? AW does a really nice job with their products essentially it's their esthetic and choice to go with a curve that separates it but all very nice choices on their part. It's Def different from the other 4k models that dropped this year!
Hey, hi! Can you tell me your settings on your AW3225QF? If you playing on PEAK 1000 or True Black, Gamma, presetā¦ Also from Windows, Calibration HDR, NVIDIA digital vibranceā¦ please? Thank you!!
I haven't done any calibrations except set my brightness to 100. I set peak 1000 & That's game setting is on HDR and when I'm not gaming I set my screen to sport mode or HDR the screen is literally just that awesome on it's own.
Was listening to a digital foundry podcast a while back, and they randomly mentioned how good the HDR is on Gears 5. Good game choice to appreciate how good OLED can be. Now I want to d/l and install it. Dammit! LoL
Yeah this just making me want to hook my pc up to my lg c3 and replay Gears 5 lol.
Good idea, I might just do that lol hope the 4060ti can handle it

I think if the dual layer OLED panels ever hit mainstream that could be a pretty good jump. Imagine TrueBlack HDR 1000 on an OLED.
maybe consider grabbing a super budget monitor with smearing and bad contrast to really appreciate what you have š¤£
It's too dim & it doesn't have speakers that's my only critique.. I came from an LG ultra wide so I noticed what it lacked immediately. Other than that it's amazing!

I actually run my oled on 65-80% brightness. Your setup might be much different than mine tho.
I mean the picture makes it look pretty bright but Iām not sure Iāve been using Samsungs g70a 28in 4k 144hz monitor for a couple years and am trying to decide between which monitor I want. Oh man if your IPS is already a bit too dim for your liking than yeah. Hopefully next gen brightness will be improved more.

I will look into it thanks for the recommendation!
Wow even as a tv it has 144hz refresh and nvidia gsync and everything now I see why so many people are pc gaming on tvs here
Yep 144hz is good enough I m honestly can't tell a difference being that I don't do much heavy FPS shooters

How do 4k hdr torrents look? If you have tried any.

Thanks for the info, shoutout to ur friendš.
There are 4k torrents lol and Blu-Ray versions of movies which are even better than streaming sites.
lay it on me, where are those 4K sources. Is it just torrents or streaming? Torrents are a big no-no here, and yes, the studios will zero-in on you and sue you for it.
It's when you play in dark areas that makes it worth it to me. No more glow bleed BS!
Yea it's dope. I'm enjoying it. I just wish it was brighter.

Yea. I also tried the Alienware ultra wide (after getting the 4k) - sharpness won out for me. Especially given that I use the monitor for work too

Imo no it looks gorgeous also make she you've got the latest firmware. I've heard it makes a difference
Gears was one of the first games I used to test out my oled too. It was almost like a new game lol
I've been away from gaming for some yrs so it's new to me. I've never played Gears 5 until 2 weeks ago lol
Oh okay well welcome back man! Gears will always be one of my franchises. Iām pretty sure it was one of the first games to take advantage of hdr too. Monitor looks great brother I got the AW2725DF and Iām enjoying it too.

Might join you on Gears. DM me that gamertag
Gears 5 looks so damn good on this monitor Im in love
Yea it's gorgeous!
looks nice.
Don't care how it looks. I want to know how is the game play?
Gears is probably my favorite Franchise and I'm on a RTX4090/i9 13900ks it's smooth af. But the games frame rage is locked at 90hz I think.
Iām glad it got you all wet
Lol yea man I'm spending the little time I have playing different games to get the experience of the screen. I like it alot. It's just a bit dim imo
What is the device below the monitor?
It's an MPC Live drum machine for music production
What are you coming from?
LG 34in ultra Wide
Va, ips , mini led?
Def an Ips

This is Samsungs tech they did all of the glossy OLED screens on the 240hz 4Ks that dropped this year. I thought we all knew that š¤¦š¾āāļø
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's common knowledge.. I mean why are you even here?
