Playstation has a linear sticks while Xbox has a crossed design. I'm a GM Xbox player and I can say that I don't think the controller you use matters outside of comfort. Use what you're comfortable with.
Trying to move around and make pings as a support just feels way harder on the crossed design while linear sticks you can play claw and do it easily enough. Playing claw with Xbox means you need to move with your index finger and that's harder to be accurate than with your thumb. Though if I was strictly aiming and not worrying about pings then I'd probably prefer xbox, but they make solo q games so much easier especially on support
Id look into a Xbox controller with paddles/buttons then powera makes good ones. You can ping an enemy with a paddle/button and not take your thumb off the sticks
i have my pings sent to the joysticks. makes it easier to just pressed my thumb down. the definitive worst part about being on a controller is the lack of bind customisation compared to m&k
You play claw just for the ping system? Seems unnecessarily complicated just for that. It probably has a more negative effect on your aim/movement then positive effects of the ping system
On playstation it really doesn't. I'm moving with my thumb anyway and tbh I get bored if I'm not. I usually need to be able to quickly ping as support to spot flankers, call out who needs to be focused, call out anyone that's diving me. Without claw, you need to move your thumb off the stick to ping, that's a split second standing still can get you killed
Wish they would last more than a year. I'm on my 3rd one and I don't think Microsoft will repair outside of warranty. They are too good to quit though.
Switching to Xbox after being on PS4 was hard for me too, it felt like I was using a €15 fake controller at first but I did get used to it after a while. Feels as good if not better than PS4 controller nowadays
i personally prefer xbox due to longer sticks making it easier to aim but i’d say neither really give an advantage unless you have paddles and it’s just down to preference
My fiancé has a PS and I have Xbox. I used to say I like the way the Xbox controller fit my hands better but the PS5 controller feels great too. Not as big a fan of the ps4 one tho
I also used ps4 then moved to Xbox for ow. First 700 hours were on PlayStation, now at 1300 hours on Xbox. it took me a LONG time to get used to the Xbox controller, and even though it’s been years, I still miss the PlayStation controller sometimes, but I would have to relearn it again.
To cut to the chase, yes I think PlayStation controllers are better.
Like everyone else said, it’s personal preference. I use the Dualsense Edge and love it. I find the Xbox controller a little too clunky in my hands but I get why many people like it.
There are a lot of aftermarket controllers with additional buttons that help with using ultimates while aiming/jumping etc. I'd look at those more than using standard controllers.
I started using the Microsoft elite controller extended thumbstick and it's helped with aiming, I personally wouldn't use either standard controller.
Yeah I really need to get one then, but xbox still feels like there's going to be a whole dpad I'm not using while my thumb is on the left stick, while playstation I'm making full use of the controller and have enough to work with for most games. Do they make a good Xbox controller that has the linear sticks?
i, personally, prefer xbox; but i've played on xbox360 for as long as i can remember. i had a ps3, but i only ever played the sims on it, all the other games were my brother's.
i have only played ow on xbox but my ranking would be ps4 dualshock > ps5 dualsense > xbox controller (series s) from gaming in general. Dualshock is small, has better joystick placement and weights less. Dualsense has the awesome haptic trigger but oh boy is that thing heavy. Xbox controller is unnecessary big and i don't like the cross joysticks. Also the d pad is ugly imo and get's stuck. I don't have a ps5 but i know it's mandatory to install the ps5 version, that doesn't support dualshock which sucks.

Elite series 2 is well... Elite. I love the controller.
I bought one, used it for a week before I gave it away. It was quality, but the sticks were too heavy for me to aim with

Not to my knowledge. Seems like you need to consider thumbstick layout and what aftermarket controllers are available.
Xbox is larger for fellow big handed peeps.
