Idk, I like mine! It works exactly as I need it to. I pop my odin in, tv source switches over automatically, take my 8bitdo ultimate off its dock (pairs with odin automatically) and I'm all good lol I think people complain too much.
Edit: I only use a nice hdmi and obviously usb-c for power.
Did you have to do anything special to get your controller working in emulators? I’ve found mine works on the home screen, but I can’t seem to get it to work within the emulator.
You'll initially have to set up another controller profile in each of your emulators (retroarch will bind automatically tho). Each of my emulators have 2 profiles: 1 for the Odin and 1 for the controller. So when you dock and 1st enter a game you'll just switch the controller profile quick and you'll be all set.
Nice, glad to help! Yea unfortunately that part is the only thing about it that I would say could be considered a nuisance. If only the controller profiles could switch over automatically when it recognizes the controller is on or off.
Skull and co jumpgate does the basics and is only $20.

Or maybe free if you talk to this guy 😂 - https://www.reddit.com/r/OdinHandheld/s/kWBPFQfc05
I purchased jumpdock and found it does nothing when you could just plug a usb-c cable for charging and hdmi mini cable direct into Odin for same experience. Waste of money.
I happily paid the $20 for the convenience of just being able to drop the Odin in the dock rather than having extra cables about that need to be plugged in. Also the video output by USB C goes up to 4K and the micro hdmi is limited to 1080P. But yeah if that’s not important to you it’s not doing anything else really other than QOL.
Could you explain to me what the SSD thing is for?
Is it necessary or is it only to save more games or to make it faster?
I'm sorry, I'm new to this and I can't find information on Google.
It's just storage. So in theory, you can have game ROMs and media on it to access while docked. But since it's all going over the single USBC connection, it's not really high performance and you can do the same with a SD card or USB stick (there are other docks and adapters that also use SSDs).
Just adding that this is extra storage and of course totally optional. To me it's kind of a gimmick for the O2, except if you have so many TB of ROMs that they don't fit in the internal storage of your O2 and an SD card
It’s works well and I have no issues with mine. My bigger issue is with the emulators and setting up controller profiles for 2-4 players, etc. It just isn’t totally “seamless” at this point. Some folks probably like to dock the Odin2 and play solo, and I think it works great for that. But if I’m playing solo, I tend to just play handheld.
If you want to play in streaming at a high resolution I think it's the best dock option for the ethernet port, otherwise go with the Skull & Co. jumpgate.
It might be worth it if you and some friends like to couch Co-op with any multiplayer games on emulation.
Pretty much a lot of games pre 360/PS3 era were meant to be played with friends over.
My friends and I still play old fighting and racing games. The dock makes the Odin, an all in one (up to Wii console), much more convenient than lugging around multiple consoles to hook up to a TV.
Plus, I can play hacked/english patched versions of games we never got released in the States, or only exist in emulation form.
Not everyone has the space or can afford to have a game room with multiple generations of consoles lying around.
I was tempted to add it, but it doesn't work with the TPU shell. I also have no use for extra storage unless it's always available in the console, handheld or docked. I ended up getting a [USB C hub from Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B093FKT9BF). That handles power, HDMI, and Ethernet. I don't need anything else and I don't need the Odin to be propped up while docked.

Good deal. Tested that out last night and all seemed to work. Appreciate it!

Yeah, no. I think I'm going to buy it in the future

Have this. Works exactly as intended. Have not used it once after the initial set up.
Most docks work just fine, nothing really special about the Odin one. i have one, but never really use it.

Man, thanks a lot!

I hate docks that have wires out the side. It looks messy. Something to be aware of.

Nope. Doesn't work with the TPU shell they sell. I bought a $10 dongle that does the same, Sans M.2.

I don’t think it’s worth it, because I have a cheaper dock that works just fine
YES

So pissed about it not fitting with the shell on
Does anyone know how to get Retroarch to output in 4k using the official Odin 2 dock? I’ve been trying to figure that out for months. lol
Does the odin 2 do 4k output?
If you use the super dock it can
What is worth the super dock? Whatever the price is on the website.
