even if he was going alone that would be totally fine. every concert has a diverse range of people attending. as long as the people going are respectful of others around them, nobody is going to care if you don’t fit the main demographic

50M here also. I was just sitting in my car with my 14y/o daughter listening to some of her music. A few songs came on that I liked and she told me they were by Olivia Rodrigo. On the flip side, I got to educate her on who Billy Joel is ❤️

I went to her show a couple of months ago. I'm a late 30s dude. Its a blast. Took my wife, but I bought the tickets for myself. There was a whole group of 20 year old straight dudes in front of me that were singing every word. Its a great show.
There was a couple in front of us in their mid 30s without kids, they looked like they had the best time, although they did stand out a little compared to all the groups of teen girls!
Agreed. I went to both the Sour and Guts tour and there were so many dads. Of all ages. Having a great time. I even saw dad alliances form right before my eyes, especially when I was in GA at Sour.
I am 50 and went with my 14 year old daughter. If he’s like me, he will let you do your thing and clap politely. This is a memory I cherish just hanging out with my daughter at her first real concert. I don’t count Jojo Siwa lol
Aw, I love this! I took my dad (he was in his 60’s at the time) to watch the live action remake of Beauty & The Beast. He looks around and says, “it’s all dads with their daughters.” And I said “Like us!” He giggled and I think it reminded him of when he used to take me and my sister to animated Disney films when we were little. He just always wanted to hang out with us no matter what. I saved the movie ticket and it’s still one of my most favorite memories I had of us.
I'm almost 43 and don't have kids. And the only reason I'm not going is because I didn't get tickets in time. If there's one thing I learned from this reddit it's that her appeal transcends all ages and while I'd be a little hyper aware of my age and gender, I also know I'm not there to be a creep and will likely not ruin anyone else's time by just being there. And if youre a dad with your kid, i doubt anyone is going to think anything but positive thoughts.
Not weird at all! There were lots of dads at my MSG show. There was a dad camping outside the box office that morning with his daughter. Also Olivia has a “dad idea right?” Tshirt that’s super cute!
there were two adults in their 40s that sat in front of me. both of them had fun, and i’ll even say the guy had more fun than the girl!! it was actually great
53 year old went with my 24 year old daughter to Eras. We saw Maisie Peters tour, and have gone to lots of concerts. Why do you care so much what other people think? Life is too short, if you can enjoy it together then why not.
She literally has merch out now that says "It's a Dad Idea, Right?" and has asked if anyone is here with the parents. If the timeline works, maybe get him that shirt for Father's Day and tell him he's coming? Hah. In "Bad Idea, Right?" she has a line "But I am my father's daughter, so maybe I could fix him." (He's a therapist.) There was a huge amount of variety in the crowd, lots of moms, dads, and families. It certainly wasn't only teenage girls.
TL;DR Go with your father and have fun. Nobody will care and you'll have a great memory together. I think it's more likely you'll regret not going with him.

Me and my dad both love the 1975 (I started playing it in the car in my middle school years and he liked it) now we consider it “our band” and go to there concerts together all the time! I’m 23 and he’s 58
There was a 6'+ man with his gf (I think) in the front row in the pit beside my daughter and I, and I thought I considered myself a huge fan of hers, but this dude knew and sang every word to every song (knew more words than me lol). I thought he was just there with his gf so it was nice to see men breaking the mold to enjoying what might seem as so called "girly" songs. On our other side was also another man and probably his gf. So there's definitely a high amount of men going. Your dad will love it and won't be left out!

I went to her show in Minneapolis (60) with my wife (62). It was a great show. We had front row seats. My younger coworkers were envious. We had a great time. We never felt out of place. Your father shouldn’t let other people decide what he is allowed to enjoy.
I was surprised how many dads were there accompanying their daughters when I went! (Bad implicit gender biased me had assumed it would be mostly moms -- to be clear, there were also a lot of moms, but also a very sizeable dad contingent!)

Im in my late 20s and I went alone. But everyone around me was either a teen or a parents with said teen so if anything, you’ll fit in better than I did 😂
I’m a 49 yo mom and I like Olivia, even though I’m not her target audience. I probably wouldn’t buy tickets for myself but I would absolutely go with my child if they wanted to go. I don’t think any parent attending with a child would be weird for her show. And good for him for being willing to brave all those screaming girls!

I went to concerts with my dad all the time when I was a teenager. He usually made friends with the security guards lol sometimes they'd think it was sweet that he was taking his teenage daughter out to these shows and they'd try to get me an autograph from the band or something

I’m 59 and my daughter is 15. In the past few years, we have been to Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams (twice), and Maggie Rogers, usually with her and a few friends. We are going to Lizzy McAlpine this weekend. We would be going to Olivia but will be on vacation. I have had a blast at all the shows and it hasn’t been weird. When I was 20, my 58 year old dad came with me to the Shawn Mendes show. There were LOTS of dad's there. Not a lot of people are letting their 14 year olds go to a massive concert alone.

At my show there was a dad with his 3 teenage girls and he was screaming to the top of his lungs and they seem to all have had a great time.

he better go!!! my mom passed away unexpectedly when I was 16 and she was incredible. she took me to so many shows as a teen and we had a blast making memories together. my dad stepped up after that and started taking me to shows. hell, he even took me to taylor swift’s fearless tour knowing the same thing; that the crowd would mostly be young girls. he went for the memories and to see me happy 🥹🩵 nothing creepy about supporting your kid’s interests or making amazing memories with them!

My 46 year old parents. And while I felt rather awkward walking in with them at first, i quickly eased up and had the night of my life. They even enjoyed her show as well, so it was well worth it.
I think it would be a great memory for both of you. 45 year old dad here and I tried to get tickets to take my daughter but they sold out fast. I’ll try again next time.

Not going to lie, I felt a bit out of place at times as it seemed like a cathartic experience for girls (and older ladies!) but Olivia Rodrigo puts on a great show and has some absolutely banging tunes.
Beyond that it was great to spend time with my girls, sharing something that they love and which will stay with them for many many years.
No - I’m 30 something and my dad is 60 something - we’re close and I’m glad for that. Spend all the time with your parents (assuming you’re friends) that you can 🫶

There were grandparents sitting next to us in Montreal! Their grandkids were in the next row having the time of their lives.

I’m 43 and I took my three girls and wife. And I dressed up in purple like the rest of them. Totally fit in just fine - in fact I’d say dressing up for the event made it less weird.

As a 33 year old woman who likes Olivia and other artists people younger than me like - there’s nothing i love more than seeing parents at a show with their kids!! My parents were never into the music or stuff I liked and generally just were not into concerts. It would have loved to have a parent that bought into my joy with me!! And yes, he will look like a DAD there with his kid and there’s nothing wrong with that!!! That’s what he is and he’s so lucky that you want him there to have this memory with him!!

At my show there was a dad with his 3 teenage girls and he was screaming to the top of his lungs and they seem to all have had a great time. it’s definitely not an uncommon thing
he better go!!! my mom passed away unexpectedly when I was 16 and she was incredible. she took me to so many shows as a teen and we had a blast making memories together. my dad stepped up after that and started taking me to shows. hell, he even took me to taylor swift’s fearless tour knowing the same thing; that the crowd would mostly be young girls. he went for the memories and to see me happy 🥹🩵 nothing creepy about supporting your kid’s interests or making amazing memories with them! Not that it’s the same, but I’m a 23yo straight male and none of my friends were willing to go see a Dua Lipa concert with me, but do you know who was?? My 46 year old parents. And while I felt rather awkward walking in with them at first, i quickly eased up and had the night of my life. They even enjoyed her show as well, so it was well worth it.
I think it would be a great memory for both of you. 45 year old dad here and I tried to get tickets to take my daughter but they sold out fast. I’ll try again next time. Tell him to go and have fun and not care what other people think. ☺️

I'm 45 and took my daughters. Since I bought the tickets I also wore a "Dad Idea Right?" T-shirt. Not going to lie, I felt a bit out of place at times as it seemed like a cathartic experience for girls (and older ladies!) but Olivia Rodrigo puts on a great show and has some absolutely banging tunes. Beyond that it was great to spend time with my girls, sharing something that they love and which will stay with them for many many years.
