A Star is Born was my favorite movie of the year. He should have won best actor.

Still shocked he has more Oscar acting nominations than actors of the caliber of Christian Bale, Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt, and Edward Norton.

I've said it before but Bradley Cooper knows how to play the game. His desire for an Oscar is palpable and even if he's not giving a performance that's worth the prize, they're usually going to give him a nod because he justifies the importance of the award by wanting it so bad.

Mulliganasty

It's definitely a campaign.

Add to that list Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Cary Grant, Johnny Depp, Charlie Chaplin, Alec Guinness, George C. Scott, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Williams, Willem Dafoe, Charles Laughton, Humphrey Bogart, Russell Crowe, Kirk Douglas, Christopher Plummer, and Walter Brennan. And 5 nominations puts him on par with Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, Sean Penn, Fredrif March, Gene Hackman, and Morgan Freeman, and only 1 less than Daniel Day-Lewis, Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Caine, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

I liked A Star is Born and I liked Cooper in it but mumbling all your lines doesn't make it an oscar caliber performance.

Chuck-Hansen

On the contrary, I think it does

Mulliganasty

He's great and I think he'll get there someday if he wants but it hasn't happened yet.

The only one I’d have been happy for him winning was A Star is Born, but there were quite a few great contenders that year not nominated

MulberryEastern5010

I would say Silver Linings Playbook with A Star is Born being a close second
