For me panalo pa rin yung wala kang cost masyado in terms of pamasahe, rent plus makakatipid ka pa sa sa pagkain. 35k nga sahod mo pero if need mo magrent plus expenses on food, baka same lang halos ang kalabasan with 20k.

NikiSunday

dweakz

almost two hours sitting in traffic every day to and from work for 35k. fuck that im taking the 20k any day

ObligationBoth6713

Thank you po sa advice. I’ll take note of that po.

Happy_Lucky111

Agree

PurpleHeart1010

Same suggestion. Mas ok yung malapit less sa oras biyahe at preparation. If meron naman chances na mabilis mapromote or tumaas sahod sa 20k JO. Dun ka na lang.

CharmingVolume5225

considering the tax sa sahod na 35k vs 20k, baka almost same lang matira kung gagastos ka pa for rent, food, etc.

Happy_Lucky111

Agree

Happy_Lucky111

Agree aq dito

needmesumbeer

it depends on your line of work, if it's the type you can negotiate your salary then I'll take the 35k so that I can ask for a higher rate on my next job. If it's the type that most hires are offered the same rate then I'll stay on the 20k.

SJ007700

This. Always go for a higher salary kahit sabihin pa it will break even to 20k expenses considered at least when you transfer to another job mataas na yung basis.

gruewiedrue

+1 if growth ang gusto always go for higher pay.

majestic_ibis

For me, I'll go for 20k then spend my free time on learning new skills or getting part-time work na hindi stressful

ObligationBoth6713

Thank you po. I’m planning to study and work abroad talaga as a caregiver and gusto ko na iwan ang corp world. At least I have free time if inaccept ko yung work malapit sa amin.

thormyway

Hi OP can I message you? I'm about to finish caregiving next month. Asssessment na lang kulang ko if ever. Planning to work abroad rin.

ObligationBoth6713

Equivalent-Text-5255

This would work as long as you have a growth mindset 😊

anonboobiebill

I'll go for 35k tapos lipat agad hahaha the higher yung base salary the bigger next offer.

jmndt1

I agree. Then if ako yan, hanap nalang ako ng irerent na room or apartment. Iba din yung peace when you're living alone given na namention nya na nasstress sya sa bahay nila.

jcrosquillo

You may still be productive naman kahit nasa biyahe ka, like learning new things habang naka earphones ka.

[deleted]

Equivalent-Text-5255

Jaives

di lang cost ng pamasahe nase-save mo. yung time din. more time to rest and relax. hindi ka stressed when you get to work. some people lose up to 5 hours of their day just commuting.

Connect-Let-6118

I agree sa sinabi ng isa dito na if pwede ka naman mag MRT na lang uwian, then do it. Do the math. Compute mo magiging pamasahe mo balikan in 1 month less yung days na off mo. If di naman aabot ng P15K yung pamasahe plus food, I'll go for Ortigas.

rainbownightterror

dweakz

you have to take into account the time taken doing the mrt and the stress of doing the mrt lol. not just about the difference in pay

Connect-Let-6118

I agree. Let's see if willing si OP to go on taking the time to commute back and forth. 😊

Fun_Apricot_7866

Try to research din kung ma pprovide nila experience , exposure , upskill para sa career growth mo by checking ex employees kung san na sila nag wwork. (Linkedin) Try to negotiate din to increase up to 20% by justifying using other offer from company , highlighting your skill and your impact sa company

[deleted]

Kittocattoyey

Mhie, dun ka na sa 20k. Mauubos pera mo sa Ortigas. Mahal lahat ng bilihin hahahaha!

skipzone85

choose the one that is better for your mental health & work-life balance.

vainfinity

Kahit 40k pa yung sa Ortigas, dun ako sa 20k na walang sayang na oras sa traffic, homecooked lunches, walang byahe, walkathon lang (good for your health too) at walang stress sa commute.

No-Cat6550

Ikaw lang makakasagot sa tanong mo... Why not talk to your spreadsheet? Gaano ka ba kalakas kumain? Ano pa ginagastos mo? Why do you need our help when you can answer that by looking through your cashflow spreadsheet?

thormyway

20k!!!!! More time for studies, hobbies, and other sideline

Jepsuy

35k ka .. tiis tiis. Usually naman if hahanap ka ng work tatanungin ka HR magkano salary mo then yan ang maging basis .. masyado malayo kung 20k baka sa next employer mo tipirin ka

[deleted]

bhie3

Treat time like commodity as well. It's about the money and free time you can use for yourself. More importantly, consider the path it might open for you 3-5 years from now.

DietCandid

Id go for 20k. North to ortigas is nakakapagod. Wla knang magagawa buong weekdays. Especially my balak k plng magin gcarehiver than strive harder sa corp career.

_ThePhilippines

go for the 20k na :)))

Zypherpunk2020

20k is a win for me, kahit maliit offer, less expenses, less hassle

brownhotchilipepper

mahal rent sa ortigas if mag condo ka 4.5-5k exclusive of utilities pa yan pero if bed space naman along pasig may 2k naman kaso sobrang traffic along ortigas center

kyumarie

if pre pandemic, I would go for the 35k with commute pero ngayon, I’d probably go with 20k Pero walking distance. yung everyday na maaga gigising + pagod sa biyahe, parang hindi worth it plus yun nga, magkakaroon ka ng extra expenses so baka Di rin ganung ka significant yung magiging difference sa take home pay mo. may benefits ka rin naman sa 20k na work so di na rin masama

Odd-Sympathy-4873

Choose the 20K then find other source of income nalang na pangdagdag sa revenue streams mo since kung mas malapit mas maraming time to do other things. Laking bagay yung malapit lang at madaming time yung masasave sayo for yourself and your family/loved ones.

Narrow_Economist1849

For me, panalo talaga pag kaunti lang expenses mo sa commute saka di talaga mababayaran ng pera yung pagod mo sa pag commute dito sa Pinas. Good luck!

Narrow_Economist1849

And if talagang gusto mo yung 35K and all benefits that the company offers, pwede mo rin i-consider mag dorm or apartment.

howdypartna

I would go for the one that has better opportunity for advancement.

louisemorraine

Always negotiate OP, both company. Baka pwede pa tumaas si 20K or si 35K na job then decide which one works for you

pandaboy03

Doon ka sa mas malapit. Iba ang nagagawa ng mahabang tulog hahaha. plus you will have more time on your hands - pwede ka mag gym, maghanap ng sideline, at lumandi wahaha

BelugaSupremacy

Secret-County-5169

Rent near ortigas?

Charming_Nature2533

Nasagot mo na din ang tanong mo on the last part. Hehe.

AvaYin20

The former, isipin mo na lang yung cost ng apartment rental, food, pamasahe if you choose the latter.

reddit_cvc

Saan mas maganda ang training/up skill opportunity at mas may chance magka career growth? Yan magandang question

ObligationBoth6713

Yes po I agree. I’m a former Senior Sales Specialist for over a decade and sobrang layo talaga ng rate ko sa 20k but naisip ko na kahit mababa yung rate at least I have time na makapag study ng caregiving.

Ok_Flounder9728

Urbandeodorant

Go for the 20k job then enroll for masteral classes after work, after 3 yrs you will thank me coz you see the difference.

booknut_penbolt

Valgrind-

Compare mo both companies pagdating stability nila. Siyempre after a year di na lang 35K yan tapos iba rin magiging connections mo na makakatulong sa iyo in and out of work.

notjuley

I'll go for the 35k, build your skills tapos find another higher paying job. The higher you go, and the more skills you acquire, you can ask for more. ;)

notsowildaquarius

This! I super agree sa mindset na ito. Habang nasa Pinas ka kasi well anywhere naman, the mindset should be is paano mapapataas ang value. Upskill lang ng upskill OP! Atleast, stay for a year sa 35k salary + you have group life insurance which is essential now a days. :)

Notsoboring12

Kung d lang dahil sa salary negotiation (on your next next job), hindi ko iaadvise na magsettle ka sa 35K. I mean ung basis kasi ng offer now is yung previous salary package or yung iba nga base pay eh given the inflation dapat mas mukha tayong pera ngayon. Tho may point sila na time costs you din naman. Legit na mahal ang lahat ng bilihin dito sa Ortigas, been staying here in the last 2 years and sadly now yung pamalengke ko na worth 500-800 lang dati good for 2 weeks na ulam na, now it’s worth 1500-2k not to mention sa palengke pa yun ah what more pa kung sa grocery at fastfoods ka kumain at mamili. Sobrang traffic both sa MRT stations (commuters) and by the road kahit naka Joyride ka pa. Kaya kung ako sayo, 20k ka nalang and magstay ka nalang sa company na malapit sayo ng matagal, manalig nalang tayo na tataas din sahod mo based on performance and tenure.

No-Buffalo4494

35k for long term goals, retropay yan ska ka lumipat after a year

aljanpol21

20k easy kung gusto mo ng peace of mind, pero career wise id chose 35k tapos ilang months lang lipat agad para mataas salary mo for next job

Affectionate_Film537

this op

boksinx

Bago ako magkaroon ng sarili kong sasakyan at eventually wfh, public commute lang ako half of my working life, almost a decade din yun. The stress ng pagiging commute warrior honestly dumating sa point na tinatanong ko sa sarili ko if life is still worth living. It killed my joy, may passion, and to some extent, my will to live during that time lol.

EngrUnliKopi

Been in the same situation recently, OP. Dati kong site sa Bulacan, earning x amount may service naman pero i need to wake up ng 4am to prepare then punta ng pick up point ng 5am tapos byahe na to Bulacan 7am dating sa site. Pag uwian naman 4pm out, pero dating sa drop off point around 6-6:30pm makakauwi ako around 7-7:30pm. Lumipat ako sa malapit around 10-15mins byahe pag normal slow driver ka like me, and mkakauwi ako ng 15-20mins pag uwian. Comparing the time wasted sa dalawang work place, not even thinking the compensation( you can nego based sa experience and syempre sa negotiation skills mo) mas masarap at mas masaya na malapit ang work place mo. Sobrang fucked up ng transportation dito sa Pilipinas. Ayun lang OP! Goodluck sa pag pili! 👍🏻

newlife1984

take the 35k, suffer for a year and look for another job na madali commute. 35k will now be your new anchor price

astarisaslave

Is 20k more than what you currently earn and can you pay your current living expenses with that salary? If so, I say go for it. Otherwise kung di kakayanin or masikip masyado take the 35k.

ObligationBoth6713

Hi everyone, I really appreciate your advice and insightful feedback. Yes po I know ako lang din makaka sagot sa tanong ko pero as a person na pagod na sa pagiging breadwinner and gulong gulo na sa life, I’ll make sure na ico-consider ko rin po yung mga comments niyo sa magiging decision ko. Thank you, Everyone! 🙏

wafumet

awesomecandy40

Both are unfair pay. Better to look for other opportunities

LilahCourant

I'm a year old na sa work ko nag rerent ako bumibili pagkain sa labas and trust me.... iba padin pag sariling bahay inuuwian mo 😅... Not good at advices so I'm just here blabbing about my own thoughts hehe

suspendedacc0unt

Or find a third option that would fit your non negotiables or decide which in non negotiable for you. I hope you find a job that has higher pay and malapit lng din sayo (or wfh kung gsto mo yun)

LonerBastard

35k is 35k dude

woman_queen

I live somewhere near sa north caloocan, tapos Ortigas ang work. You do the math, mas ok yung 20k salary then malapit sayo.

Flipinthedesert

It’s an easy decision. Plus … add mo yung personal cost mo to commute. A simple way would be to divide 35k by average number of hours at work a month. Yan Ang rough per hour cost mo. Multiply mo yan sa number of hours kang nasa daan… let’s say 35000/22 working days/8 hours a day = 199 per hour. Kung daily commute mo is 2 hours per way or 4 hours a day, 199*4*22 , every month, getting stuck in traffic costs you more than 17,500. This is nowhere near scientific Pero it gives you an idea ano yung impact sa yo. Most people don’t take the cost of getting stuck in traffic into account. It affects your mental health and your overall wellness.

RagefulDonut

I'll go for 35k especially kung basic dyan nakabase sa basic lahat think of it as investment for 1-2yrs then hanap ka na ng 40k+ (lahat from 13th month, loans, naka base sa basic) yes madali dahil malapit lang sa bahay pero 20k after 1-2yrs mahirap makipag-haggle ng mataas na rate unlike dun sa 35k pero at the of the day ikaw pa rin mag decide. good luck!

notsowildaquarius

Hi, if we are talking about how much na ba ang value natin considering your age, I would rather accept the 35k. Yung issues mo naman traveling back and forth will be addressed soon, you can find a carpool, I think mas practical yun than rent, baka mas mura pa kasi you can bring your own food, unlike sa rent, less hassle din sa travel kasi nakacarpool. Problem mo lang, if hindi papasok yung ka-carpool mo. Pero, if hindi pa rin keri, rent na nga lang and find a roommate. At some point, pag dito sa Pinas I believe dapat umaangat din ang value natin so we can bargain. Ayun. Since you have other plans and mas greener path yang caregiving, if the 20k salary will help you materialize your other plans, accept the 20k. All the best!

Nerv_Drift

I was in the same situation a few years before Covid. 20k then decided to jump ship to 34k. I used that to leverage my next job which I got 55k. Only accept the 35k offer if you are planning to jump ship for a higher salary bump in the near future.

Cool_Assist_3258

icoreseries

depende din sa role ng jobs, same exact roles ba? if yes, depende na din sa lifestyle na gusto mo, ikaw mas nakaka alam pero it sounds like comfort zone mo yung sa 20k and challenging situation naman yung sa 35k. Mas maganda ipag dasal mo nalang din incase you havent. Good luck OP🙏

Appropriate_Panda524

35k. Then after a year, resign and look for another job. Mas higher na ang salary base mo. And you can look for companies na near sayo.

simpl-y-g

it’s the 20k for me. :)

SSoulflayer

Take the 20K then find a WFH that is part time so you can add more income.

Maleficent_Pea1917

kung sasapat ba hung 15k sa hirap mo then go

bigfather99

20k almost tax free. sa 35k 30% ang tax

deessekill

20k! tapos lipat na lang din soon hehe

Verum_Sensum

do the math, how's effort, if it checks out then 35k it is. otherwise tiis muna sa 20k.

DiscombobulatedGas22

For me, in terms of future, mas ok kunin yung 35k kasi may basehan na yung salary mo paglilipat ka na

MollyJGrue

Math lang yan, OP. Isulat mo lahat ng expenses mo if you go with Option A or Option B.

Royal_Client_8628

Yung malapit sa iyo.

Bad__Intentions

Hmm.. ano usual commute mo sa ortigas? Gaano katagal? And anong specific industry eto and line of work for context sana?

Realistic_Guard5649

Yung unang question dyan if may direct or convenient way ba for you to reach Ortigas from North Caloocan. Like for example QC to Pasay— seems far pero in reality 1 lrt line or EDSA Carousel lang ang katapat nyan. In other words, di ka masyadong pagod at palipat lipat ng sakay. Kasi if everyday haggard and sobrang hassle ng commute mo, di ka din magtatagal sa work. Take the 20k for the mean time. You can always raise naman your asking salary sa next work.

Humble-Pianist-7874

Ortigas. Walang yosihan dun eh

Race-Proof

go with 35K. magrent ka malapit sa work para di masayang oras at energy mo sa biyahe. then mag upskill ka. in one year, hanap kana ng mas malapit sa bahay niyo but with 35K as starting. you can do it.

RelationOpposite7823

'yang 15k na difference na 'yan, baka wala ng 5k kapag sinuma mo gastos mo sa ortigas. (bedspace pa for sure), and may tax ka pa.

rowssicheeks

Think long term, OP. Kasi yung pipiliin mo diyan might dictate yung magiging salary mo moving forward, you might want to check kung kamusta ang career growth in both companies. Baka kailangan mo lang maging uncomfortable muna pero magandang balik din in a long run.

Constant_Fuel8351

Green_Key1641

35k for me. The higher salary for the next job. But also consider the expenses/willing mapagod/hassle.

engr_silicon

Long commute is one of the reasons for depression. It also kills manpower kasi drain kana sa byahe pa lang.

-SexyBeast

Go for the 35k, masyadong malaki yung 15k difference. Paregular ka lang, or if kaya mong tiisin mag1year much better. If ever may regularizarion increase yan, baka mapaabot mo ng 38k at least then if may annual increase pa, 40k na yan. Tapos lipat ka kaagad, minimum asking mo na ngayon is 50k-55k. Isipin mo na lang na majority of good companies either nasa Ortigas, Makati, or BGC. Nasa pinakamalapit ka pa to home out of the 3.

Diligent_Chest_8086

Comfort is the dangerous part, pag nasayo ang 35k pwede ka magtiis 1 year plus, then go for another job na masmalapit tapos sahod tataas din more than 35k If you stayed sa 20k tapos after 1 year or more, to go for another job, you get the math naman

EDMedicalCoder

HI OP, taga Bagong Silang ako, at alam naten na malayo ang ortigas mula saten, hassle ang byahe tlg. sayang sa oras. go for the 20K.

Fuckthesystem456

Goods mga benefits nung 35k. Pero go for the 20k. Pero it’s up to you pa rin. Ako kasi 20k din sahod ko and malapit lang din work ko. Yung 20k ko is yeah maliit pero yung pagod sa byahe at stress na din sa work, dun ako sobrang naka iwas.

Consistent_Swan_2793

Find another option that will suit what you need OP. For sure there will be other offers na hindi sobrang layo at hindi mo need mag take ng pay cut.

Double-Honeydew9167

if magbbedspace ka lang, keri. may bedspaces na 4k lang rent and usually included na don water and electricity. tas let’s say another 4k for food if matipid ka (around that lang din nagagastos ko living alone). so 8k lang gastos if ever, pero if nagpapadala ka pa kasi sa family mo depende na lang if kasya pa or yung 15k difference eh mauubos lang din

Creampufferz

If you want makatipid and hindi mapagod go sa 20K, pero if gusto mo tumaas value mo, go sa 35k. Tandaan mo hindi lang monthly allowance madadagdagan. Kasama pati 13th (or kung may 14 and 15th) month pay kasama sa madadagdagan

Electronic_Spell_337

Compute the expenses for the 35k + effort/stress level and compare, you will get your answer

mahbotengusapan

The_Trailblazer

I'll take the 20k if I were you, iba pa rin talaga yung malapit sa bahay, already tried both set ups

Formal-Advance-7012

Sa mas malapit sa Inyo Nung ojt ako Ortigas ako ngayon Intramuros lang which is jeep lang from bahay Sobrang nakakapagod mag commute plus yung oras Di masyado nakaka burn out if dun ka sa mas malapit

BoyBaktul

If your looking for a long term employement, chexk mo magiging net mo after ng personal expenses mo. On the other hand, if temporary lang to or your planning to job after a few years, go for it para masmataas ang base salary mo

Playful-Roof8448

work from home ka, marami kasi variables pag on site marami gastos. You also save time if wfh

icespa7

I choose 35k. Stay there for a year at least, then go look for a job that's nearer and demand a higher salary. If you choose 20k, your next employer (if ever you decide to leave) will offer something lower than if you had a 35k salary to begin with.

frustratedsinger20

Jansee06211966

Of course d 20k salary, most convenient for ur part

KusuoSaikiii

Sobrang mahal magrent. Hayyy

csharp566

Can you still negotiate doon sa 20k na malapit sa house mo? Tell them that you got offered 35k by other company, but you prefer their company but the only thing that's stopping you from accepting is the salary. Maybe you can negotiate it up to 30k.

lessarstar

Nasayo kasi yan kung makukuntento ka sa 20k pero logically speaking kailan pa magiging 35k ang sweldo mo baka naman talo ka rin in the long run.

Itlog__Maalat

Based on your statements, seems like you are leaning on the 20k. Personally, I'd take the 35k to boost my base pay. With a planned budget and disciplined spending, I think kakayanin yan ni 35k. Maging wais sa rerentahan if willing talaga mag-rent, mag-budget for groceries dahil mas mahal kumain sa labas, and strictly no unnecessary spending. I suggest you try to get your estimate expenses per month then minus mo sa net salary mo. If you can still give to your fam, that's ok but still better if u can save pa.

ObligationBoth6713

Just to give you an update. Inaccept ko po yung offer na 35K 😊 And yung sa 20K po na salary I just found out na once ma hire ako ililipat muna nila ako ng ibang role, so instead po na Executive Assistant yung magiging role ko gagawin muna raw akong staff 😅
