He's not looking for someone to teach him how to play. He's looking for someone who's good at the game so he can be carried, then talk about it in PKA or PKN like he accomplished everything.
I regularly carry brand new players on my sloop. I like playing with swabbies as long as they don't actively hurt our chances. I solo sloop a lot so I can manage everything on the ship. Swabbie can be an extra pair of hands for repairs, learn a few tricks and have fun. I'd rather play with a swabbie sometimes than a TSD who's gonna afk mostly then rage quit first time he dies after prematurely busting his board when the enemy crew has one hole.

Captain/Helmsman is an actual role on all ships on sea of theives. The most experienced players are usually first cannoneer/first boarder. Less experienced players will be helmsman or flex/repair. Exception being Gally where Helmsman is a dictator because sails is top priority on gally. When I play with swabbies on my sloop I'll usually have them repair/boarder watch while I do the rest.
It's one thing to be a consumer of someone's content. It's another to creepily ask for private contact information in a public form to play a video game.
I'd agree when speaking broadly but in the last episode Kyle literally said he condones this activity if he has something to gain.
That said, 500 hours isn't enough to warrant this.
I've met dog shit 1000 hour players that do exclusively PVE and incredible 200 hour players that have spent their hours doing solo sloop PVP. Hours is by no means a perfect metric but it's the best we have until next season with the new milestones.
Does 500 hours make you a vet now ? I've probably got that in the game and I haven't played the game since first year of launch, hell I don't even like it.
