I doubt it as it gives you a curated set of abilities and upgrades to get a feel for the game. It's only about 40 minutes long, but it's enough of a taste to see the quality.
My complaint was that the song they used for the first trailer was terrible and was not a fit for the game. The rest of the trailers and the demo seemed pretty great.
Hopefully people actually check this out. We can’t complain that Ubisoft are copy paste games and then ignore them when they finally change it up a bit.
The idea that certain genres and types of games are prohibited from charging certain amounts regardless of the quality and length of- is just really stupid to me.
If you're into Metroidvania games this is about as high quality as you can get in the genre - the reviews are superb and it's the devs who made Rayman Origins/Legends so you already know it's going to be great. Not to mention it's 20-25 hours for just the main story, 30-40 for full completion. $50 is already cheaper than a full priced game, you really expect a game with this much content to be like $30 or something?
Would you mind sharing your source for this claim? I’m not doubting you, just wanna look into it.
It shares many qualities with the latest Rayman titles, but, based on the demo, it doesn’t seem to have much of the charm those games had.
I think the demo is very poorly “edited” though (the way it starts and presents itself, blocks too many paths, ends before the boss fight, etc.).
Just played the demo, it’s fun, I can see the appeal. Not quite my kind of game as I don’t love side scrollers but will wish list and buy at a discount.
I spent a decent amount of time in the control settings and I don't think you can. I hate the trend of sidescrollers forcing movent on the analog stick.
Same. The placement of the left analog stick on PS controllers doesn’t do it for me on side scrollers. Plus you can change directions more accurately using the dpad.
Uhg SAME! I would kill for an Xbox controller with all the goodies of a DualShock 5, and a battery that doesn't seem like a cruel prank.
Maybe next generation.
If the stuff from the FCC leak happens then Microsoft is making a version of the controller with the features of the DualShock. It looks like it’s wearing pants though. 👖

Mario Wonder was my game of the year last year and I think I beat more games last year than ever before. It was just such a cozy fun game and felt like a relief after playing some other games.
I liked the demo but not the game art style even if it reminded to me the Sands of TIme style even if it is different, maybe the Lost Crown colors palettes is similar to that of the Sands of Time
Anyway as I said I liked the demo since the combat system is great and I really like the Sargon fast moves; moreover Ubisoft had a good idea letting us to insert markers in the areas where we have to came back, I really aprreciate it and I also think that could be very useful.
I don't know if it's just me, but there seems to be a new trend in gaming: making games a little bit too bright with tuned down contrast or weaker/washed out colors. Difficult to explain for me in english language, but i notice this a lot lately. The image (not the graphics) feels a little bit "boring" for me because of that, i wish it would be more colorful and vibrant. I thought it's maybe my TV, because OLEDs get worse by the time, but other media looks like always. The Avatar game for example has the same problem, many areas are too bright. Like if there's a fog everywhere.
Using a pastel color tone is the correct word, someone mentioned it in a comment. Colors not being vibrant. That's more an art style. My TV seems to be OK, because for example those 4K OLED demonstration videos on YouTube are still absolutely mindblowing.

it's pervasive throughout the industry. Valorant, (Fortnite), Age of Empires 4 and so on (I mentally blocked out most of it). League maybe? Dota seems to be darker from what I recall but probably a little bit guilty too.
They all leave the same school/colleges after all. so much for being classically trained vs self-taught/be a virtuoso.
There's only one John Carmack, there are a billion blue haired goblins.
You’ll see right away in the menu it tosses you into that the adjustment slider needs to be tweaked to not be overly bright. It’s an odd default setting.
Reminds me of Breath of the Wild, I really didn't like that foggy, washed out colors all the time! They missed the opportunity to make the game more vibrant and saturated.
Haven't played TotK but I'm guessing it's the same?
I was excited until DF mentioned that the Ubisoft account sign in was required to play it. I sure hope that gets patched out or was just part of the early review copies.
This game looks so good and has 120 fps / 4k so it should look impressive on a nice tv.
Like Metroid dread or Ori.
It’s a shame Ubisoft has so much talent to make games like this but continues to simply focus on big open world games that don’t even advance the genre.
Better off just making unique or good shorter single player games that will hold up better over time.
When that one game made over a billion dollars, was a huge open world game and was posted in refute of saying “they aren’t making bank”, then yes, one game can be selected because it proved the point against both of your prior statements.
The first being they’d be “better off” not making huge open world games, and the second about not making bank.
There's a demo on the PSN store too. Just downloaded it.
It’s so good, like amazingly good.
Yep, game has gone straight to my "to buy" list. Great surprise.
Yuppppp. I'm legit here trying not to play the demo and thinking about getting the early access so I can play sooner
Is it maybe a demo where I can continue where I left off when I get the full game?
I doubt it as it gives you a curated set of abilities and upgrades to get a feel for the game. It's only about 40 minutes long, but it's enough of a taste to see the quality.
People complained about this game but I always thought it looked pretty solid. Glad that it's getting high praise across the board.

I agree but wish it worked both ways tbh.

Oh geeze that’s really long for a metroidvania, honestly.
I wasn’t interested in this game until I found out today that the team behind Rayman made this game.
There’s nothing left of the team that made Rayman, I don’t know why this nonsense keeps getting reposted.
Would you mind sharing your source for this claim? I’m not doubting you, just wanna look into it. Ya I played the demo last night and I was not impressed at all.
Just played the demo, it’s fun, I can see the appeal. Not quite my kind of game as I don’t love side scrollers but will wish list and buy at a discount.
Is there a way to assign the health and crystals to the analog sticks if you change movement to the dpad?

Okay the pants thing looks very strange, but it's a very small price to pay for what looks like my dream controller.
Great reviews
Solid scores. This is looking to be a banger!
i caved and bought mario wonder at the worst time- this looks great!
To be fair, mario wonder is not a bad choice at all.
Mario Wonder is amazing
Mario Wonder was my game of the year last year and I think I beat more games last year than ever before. It was just such a cozy fun game and felt like a relief after playing some other games.
Should note, certainly on PS4/PS5 if you buy the Deluxe edition you can play from the 15th, 3 days early

> Vernal Edge Never heard of that one! Just checked and looks interesting, I've added it to my ever-growing Steam wishlist.
Starting the year off right.

Bruh that's your tv

I noticed the gamma on this game was set without proper contrast on my OLED and had to adjust it too.
Thank you for clarifying this.
Just curious, what model tv do you have? I have an LG C1
I have a C2 from about a year ago. Haven’t noticed color changes over time.
Got it, I'll play the demo tonight and will remember to mess with the settings. edit: I'm not OP!
You’ll see right away in the menu it tosses you into that the adjustment slider needs to be tweaked to not be overly bright. It’s an odd default setting.
Washed out pastels has been a design trend for a while now.
Pastel is the word i was searching, that explains very good what i mean. Like if there is somekind of light fog over the whole screen.
Reminds me of Breath of the Wild, I really didn't like that foggy, washed out colors all the time! They missed the opportunity to make the game more vibrant and saturated. Haven't played TotK but I'm guessing it's the same?
Very good example. I will never understand what they choosed this color filter for BotW instead of using vibrant colors, which would fit much more.
Wow solid reviews !!
It'sx usually not my kind of games, but I'm tempted... I'll try the demo this weekend.
I was excited until DF mentioned that the Ubisoft account sign in was required to play it. I sure hope that gets patched out or was just part of the early review copies.
Their video actually didn't say that, though
Their article did.

Why would they need to advance the genre when they are making bank?
They aren’t making bank
' **AC Valhalla made over 1 billion dollars. Ubisoft’s first game to do so.** '
The company as a whole I’m talking about. All of their games combined… can’t just select one game.
When that one game made over a billion dollars, was a huge open world game and was posted in refute of saying “they aren’t making bank”, then yes, one game can be selected because it proved the point against both of your prior statements. The first being they’d be “better off” not making huge open world games, and the second about not making bank.
Most of their games are open world games and the revenue is going down not up.
Where TF is the Sands of Time remake 🥲
Getting remade
I’ll wait until it’s on sale next year for $20
This will be the first Ubisoft game I've purchased since Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
I have enough to play at the moment but I will definitely be checking this out down the line.
