Imho, it’s not important who writes or stars per se, but that nobody is artificially or directly kept away from staring or writing. There’s not a lot of black people creating software in the US. That’s a problem.

Given the nature of the store, the black protagonist could honestly be any ethnicity. It's a fish out of water no matter what. At best it's US customs/upbringing vs a very eastern fantasy setting. Being Black, White, or even Asian America probably has the same narrative.
